The next morning, Julius woke up with a fierce determination in both his mind and heart. He ate breakfast and sat through classes all in anticipation and mental preparation of the fight that was to come. Word of the challenge had also somehow gotten among the other students, and Julius could see the anticipation on their faces a well. Finally, it was time for sparring class. Surprisingly, Professor Goodwitch allowed the challenge when Cardin mentioned it, and then he and Julius faced each other on opposite sides of the sparring ring, both staring down the other. As Julius looked at the students in the stands, he saw that teams RWBY, JNPR, and CFVY were watching him excitedly. Ruby and Yang had made little flags with his name on them and were waving them, cheering him on. Blake and Velvet had joined in on this too, which gave Julius a bit of satisfaction, but he took his mind off of it and faced Cardin.
"I'm going to enjoy this," Cardin said, swinging his mace.
Chuckling, Julius flipped out his sunglasses and put them on. "Yeah, well, if you enjoy pain, then you came to the right place."
Then, Glynda signaled for the duel to begin. Julius strode forward casually, while Cardin charged right at him, mace raised in the air. Just as he began to bring it down, Julius teleported behind, pistol in hand, and shot the back of Cardin's head, causing him to stumble as his aura flared.
"Maybe you should get a bit faster." Julius taunted. Cardin growled in frustration and charged again, only for Julius to teleport again. As he did, he drove his metal fist into the back of Cardin's knee, forcing him to the ground. Cardin was really getting angry now; he was not going to let this newbie show him up. As he stood back up and turned around, Julius prepared do drive a fist into Cardin's face, but Cardin caught the punch, and then swung his mace into Julius, sending him flying across the arena.
The other students gasped, and Julius slowly managed to get up, groaning from the hit he just took. Thankfully, his aura still held. Cardin walked up and grabbed Julius by his shirt with one hand and lifted him up. He then took Julius' glasses off and looked at them.
"Not so smug now, are you?" Cardin said, crushing the glasses. Up in the stands, Coco tried to contain her building anger; no one destroys a fashion item like that in front of her and gets away with it in one piece. Ruby, Yang, Blake, and Velvet were beginning to hold their breath; this was getting tense.
"Cardin, that's enough." Glynda sternly said.
"Not until he admits defeat," Cardin snapped, "So, Julius, what do you have to say?"
Julius looked at Cardin and smirked. "I say… HOLD THIS!" and he slapped something on Cardin's face, teleporting far behind Cardin as he did. Cardin tried to pull the item off his face, but then stopped when he heard the rapid beeping; the item was a sticky bomb. Shouting in realization, Cardin didn't have time to fully react as the bomb detonated, sending him flying backwards towards Julius. Seeing his rapid approach, Julius whipped out his pistols, switched them to full automatic, and fired a barrage of bullets right into Cardin, jumping out of the way as Cardin hit the wall. His aura weakened, Cardin slowly got up and looked to see a pistol pointed right at his face.
"Sayonara." Julius said before firing a shot at Cardin's head, breaking his aura and almost knocking him out. As Cardin slumped to the ground, the room was silent for a few moments, then Ruby burst out cheering, waving her flags excitedly, Velvet and Nora joining in. The other members of the three teams soon followed suit, applauding the victory. Even Goodwitch seemed to be impressed by the win.
"The winner is Julius. And Cardin, maybe you should work on that temper of yours." she announced. Class was dismissed a few minutes later.
Outside of the sparring arena, Julius walked out, satisfied with his victory, when Coco walked up next to him, slapping him on the shoulder.
"That was a pretty awesome back there, I'm got gonna lie." she said.
Julius nodded, "It was simple really, I just mess around with him a little bit to make him angry, then get him to think he finally has the upper hand, then blast open a fat can of whupass in his face."
"Literally," Coco said in admiration, "Though I still have to maim that guy for breaking those glasses. I'll see if I can get you a new pair."
"That's ok, you don't have to worry about that." Julius said,
"No, I insist. From one fashion enthusiast to another. It's my way of saying thanks."
Julius shrugged, "Well, alright then."
Just then, the rest of Team CFVY, followed by RWBY and JNPR came up. Ruby and Nora had the biggest smiles on their faces.
"Now THAT'S how you do it!" Nora shouted, slapping Julius on the back. Julius grunted a bit from the slap; she hit him a little too hard.
"That was pretty impressive." Blake said.
Weiss simply shrugged. "I'll admit, you fight well. A little unorthodox, maybe, but still good."
Julius stared at Weiss in surprise. "I'm sorry, did you just give me a compliment?"
Weiss crossed her arms. "Yes, but don't expect me to do it often. I still think you're an insane showoff."
Julius simply chuckled; Weiss was going to be a more interesting person than he had expected.
"You know what this calls for?" Yang said, "A little celebration back at our rooms tonight."
"I'm in." Coco replied.
"It certainly would be fun." Pyrrha added.
"That does sound fun," Julius agreed, "But let's finish getting through classes before we plan anything too overboard."
"For once, I agree." Weiss said. Ruby and Nora slumped in minor disappointment.
"Fine." Ruby said dejectedly.
Julius patted Ruby on the shoulder as they turned to walk to class. "Relax, we only got a couple more classes left."
"Yeah," Ruby said, "But Oobleck is one of them."
Julius cringed. "Oh yeah, good point."
Ruby walked a little farther ahead to catch up to the others, while Yang pulled back a bit to Julius.
"When are you planning on telling her?" she asked quietly.
"To be honest, sis, I'm not sure," Julius replied, "I'll only do it when I feel like it's the right time."
"Well, it will have to be soon. You won't be able to keep something like that from her forever."
"Don't worry. I'm not planning to."
With that, the two ran to catch up with the others and get to their next class.

Meanwhile, Ozpin was in his office, looking out over the Academy while Glynda stood with him. Suddenly, he got a call on his desk.
"Professor," the voice said, "There's someone here to see you. He says it's important."
"Send him in." Ozpin replied.
"Were you expecting anyone?" Glynda asked.
"No, I wasn't. But if it's important, than I don't want to ignore it."
The door to the elevator opened, and Ozpin realized that this was indeed going to be very important as a tall, skinny white and grey robot with a singular blue eye entered the room.
"Dr. Samuel Hayden," Ozpin said, sitting at his desk.
Glynda leaned into Ozpin's ear and whispered. "What's HE doing here?"
"I apologize for coming here on such short notice," Hayden began, "But I bring news that would be better heard now than later."
"What is it?" Ozpin asked.
"My sensors have indicated that SHE has been more active than normal lately. It's obvious that's she's about to do something, however, we are not yet sure what."
"How recent was this?" Ozpin asked.
"A few days ago." Hayden replied, "VEGA had had her under the radar for years now, and it was only until a few days ago that he detected spikes in activity. They're small, but still noticeable."
"Do you have a plan?" Ozpin asked with growing concern.
Hayden nodded. "I've been in contact with the Knight. he's sending someone over."
Goodwitch's eyes widened in fear. "W-who?"
Hayden looked at Goodwitch. "His son."
This answer certainly intrigued Ozpin. "Can we trust him?"
"He is as loyal to the cause as his father, and he's been training remarkably well. I'm certain he will be helpful as ever."
"When does he plan to send him?"
"He already has. However, they were only able to get him here via the gate in the Sentinel tombs under Atlas, so it may take some time before he shows up."
"I see."
"Now, if I may ask, Ozpin, do YOU have a plan?"
"I've been working on one." Ozpin said, "I recently found two students who may be critical in fighting back against what is about to come."
"Do tell," Hayden said, and Ozpin then pulled up holographic data files, showing both Ruby and Julius.
"I see," Hayden said, "And how are these two supposed to be as critical as you say?"
"Ms. Rose has silver eyes, for one." Ozpin explained.
Hayden nodded in agreement. "One that bears the mark of the Sentinels will be helpful indeed. I just hope this one doesn't turn out like the LAST silver eyed girl you brought in on this."
"Summer showed promise; it was my arrogance that got her killed." Ozpin admitted, his voice having a twinge of remorse.
"It doesn't matter now." Hayden said, waving it aside, "What happened, happened. Now, what about this other one?" he asked, pointing to Julius.
"Julius is quite skilled in combat already. Not surprising since he came from the Branwen clan. However, there is something about him that is a bit different than the other students. I can't quite figure it out yet, but by the way he spoke with me, it seems that his story is more interesting than he lets on, especially since he claims to have lost his arm and eye to a Sabyr when he was young, and that Raven was the only reason he survived."
This certainly caught Hayden's interest. "Since when do the Grimm attack children like that?"
"It is very rare," Ozpin replied, "But it's clear that SHE wants him dead very badly. Why? I don't know. My guess is that he might actually pose a threat to her."
"If that is the case, then we need to keep a close eye on both him AND the silver eyed girl."
"I agree, but we should also make sure to prepare them however we can once we are sure they are willing to help."
Hayden nodded in acknowledgement. "I will be going to Atlas to speak with Ironwood there. I've heard he's planning something for the Vytal Festival, and I volunteered to help."
Ozpin sighed. "I do hope James doesn't try anything too rash."
"I will do the best I can, but we can only hope for the best."
"Do what you must, and thank you for bringing this information." Ozpin said. Hayden nodded and then left the room. Once he did, Glynda noticed Ozpin's tired expression.
"What is it?" she asked.
Ozpin was silent for a few moments, then said, "If the Knight has set his sights on Remnant once again, that things are about to get more serious than we realized. I do hope the one he has sent gets here soon."
…
The scene switches to show an underground room in Atlas. Two guards stand in the doorway, when suddenly, they hear a low rumbling noise coming from inside. Opening the door, they noticed a blue portal open up in the inside.
"Alert the General!" one of the guards told the other, "The portal is active!"
As the second guard ran to get Ironwood, the other guard watched as a figure wearing green praetor armor walks through.
Watching in shock, all the guard could say was. "Oh…my…God…"
The figure looked around then spoke into a communicator on his helmet. "This is the Novus Sureya. I'm here."
