Chapter 3

Ichigo looked around down stairs seeing his father on the floor but no Yuzu in sight. He looked around before he spotted an inhuman humanoid. This was the 'monster' Kagome was talking about. This was-

"Ichigo! Get away from the hollow!" He heard Kagome scream looking back at her, he saw fright in her eyes, he felt guilty for putting it there but he had to protect his family, he had to protect her. Picking up the broken tray he walked closer to the hollow. He started to shake the fear coursing through him, even though he tried to convince himself otherwise. He then spotted something and his heart almost stopped.

"Yu-YUZU!" He screamed. Yuzu looked to him and uttered his name as he rushed forward only to be punched back by the hollow into a light post.

Blocking it with the tray he coughed and spluttered as he looked at the broken tray then back at the hollow as it was about to crush him with it's fist.

"Ichigo" Kagome gasped getting ready to save her cousin.

The shinigami cut into the hollow's arm making it drop Yuzu. Ichigo caught her only to have her taken away by Kagome and placed somewhere safer in the house. Coming back out she witnessed the shinigami and Ichigo biker.

"Ichigo, come with me," She said trying to pull him.

"Kagome I can't, I have to protect you, I have to protect everyone." Ichigo said looking at her.

"Ichigo you can't go up against the hollow. You're not ready we need to leave and let the shinigami deal with it, it's her job." She pushed him towards the house.

"NO! I'm the reason it attacked! I'm the reason everyone got hurt!" He screamed at her running out again and jumping in front of the hollow.

"Hey you... you want me soul right?" He asked with a smirk on his lips, "THEN FIGHT ME FACE TO FACE" He yelled.

"Ichigo" Kagome muttered before her hair turned white and designs littered her skin, her pupils slitting.

The hollow lunged at him mouth agape. He prepared himself, but Kagome was soon in front of him and the hollow swallowed her whole.
