Damon sighed watching his brother stretch and contract his muscles as he did fifty sit-ups per minute, hanging upside down from a bar that was hung in his bedroom. He knew what this was about but honestly when he heard about the incident from Elena, he didn't think his brother would care at all that she called things off, especially now that his switch is flipped, but looking at him now tells him the exact opposite.
"Hoping that if you gain more muscle Bonnie would take you back?" He couldn't help but tease. He is his older brother after all.
"I don't give a fuck about Bonnie."
"Yeah right. You got dumped by a woman you've secretly always wanted. It hurts."
"I wonder if I tell Elena about the whole Caroline situation you'd understand how you think I feel."
Damon rolled his eyes. "I'm going to tell Elena, just not yet."
"Yeah right, since when do you ever do the right thing? You're going to keep this from her as long as you can until it's too late." He reached his hands to grab hold of the bar and kicked his legs behind him, doing a flip before he dropped down.
"I think you'd be pleased to know that Bonnie's coming over soon," he smiled as his brother paused on his way to the chair to grab his towel.
"Why?" He kept his back facing him.
"Just to pick up Elena, I forgot what they're doing because I was too focused on her rack, but she's coming over. If I were you, I would move my 'I just got dumped and my heart is broken' workouts downstairs." Damon walked away.
Stefan looked over his shoulder seeing him gone then let out a breath. Part of him wanted to follow Damon's advice but he didn't want Damon to know that he was right so he got in the shower, part of him hoping that Bonnie would have come and gone by the time he gets out, the other part of him, hoping that she would just be arriving.
Once he got out, he dried himself off and got dressed before heading downstairs. He still heard Elena so he wanted to get out of the house to lessen the risk of them locking eyes but as his foot touched the last step, the door opened and he saw her. The sun beaming brightly behind her made her look more angelic. He wanted to drop to his knees.
Bonnie stood there watching him watch her then took a small breath before fully stepping inside, closing the door behind her. She looked away from him and walked into the kitchen just to escape. He looked like he was on his way out the door before she arrived so she hoped that he would continue that but instead she senses him getting nearer. She closed her eyes for a brief moment as he entered the kitchen.
"Bonnie,"
"I don't want to talk to you, Stefan."
"Do you know how you make me fucking feel?"
She turned her body toward him.
"I did what I did because you were making me gain all these emotions back and I didn't and don't want them back. So I acted like a dick."
"So you planned to pick a fight with me so you could intentionally leave me on the side of the road just because I loved you?" She stood.
He sighed hearing the wind howling loudly, then a stinging because she used the past tense of 'love'. "No, that's not- I didn't plan on that, I just- I didn't want you to ask me to take you out again so I figured that if I made the experience less enjoyable then you wouldn't ask. I didn't mean to leave you like that, I just- I wasn't thinking."
"I honestly- I was such a fucking idiot ever falling for you." She shook her head.
"Bonnie, I understand—"
"I need to leave," she walked out.
Stefan growled.
"Elena!" Bonnie called out by the bottom of the stairs. She took a step back now that he's in front of her. "Stefan."
"Baby, I'm sorry. Please," he held her face.
"Please what?"
"For—"
"Ready, Bon?"
Stefan closed his eyes exhaling sharply at the sound of her voice.
"Yeah," she turned and started towards the door.
"You couldn't wait one more minute?" He snapped.
"She needs more time, Stefan."
"I don't think that's your decision to make."
"She's my best friend it's my job to make some decisions for her. Just give her some more time." She walked out.
"I thought you didn't give a fuck?" Damon smiled from the top of the stairway.
Stefan rolled his eyes.
Elena looked over at her friend as she drove. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Bonnie sighed. "I just don't know how I should feel."
"What do you mean?"
"Should I forgive him and take him back or should I still be angry?"
"I don't think there's a right or wrong way to go about this. But, I feel like you should take some more time to think. I know you love or loved Stefan so your initial thought is to probably take him back, but think with your brain and not your heart."
Bonnie let out a small breath. "Yeah,"
"But on to happier things, are you excited about your party tonight?"
"I'm mainly nervous, honestly. I just want everything to go perfect, especially since this is my first time ever throwing a party."
"Which is why Miss. Caroline Forbes will be meeting us at the mall."
She stopped her frown. "Have you talked to Caroline recently?"
"Yeah, just yesterday, why?"
"Oh no reason, I actually forgot to confirm everything with her so I'm not sure if you mentioned it or not,"
"I'm sure she remembered."
And she did. They spent hours picking out decorations and their outfits for Bonnie's 'Becoming A Witch' party, the anniversary to which she first found out about her powers. Only supernatural species were invited, with a few exceptions like Matt and Jeremy. Through the supernatural world, she's met a lot of people and family she never knew she had. She couldn't wait to be around everyone and distract her mind from everything, even if it only for one night.
…
Stefan scrolled through his contacts trying to see if he could link up with a past booty call, but at the moment, no one seemed appealing. He sighed dramatically at how a pair of emerald eyes were on his mind. Even with his emotions off, she was still there and killing him slowly. He looked over, hearing his phone vibrate for a second.
Don't come tonight.
He stared at the short sentence from Bonnie before moving his thumb across the bottom of his phone screen. I wasn't planning on it.
Good.
His breath grew heavy and he stuffed his phone in his pocket before speeding out. He needed to do some binging.
Somehow he ended up here. The place where she didn't want him to be, the place where he wasn't sure if he wanted to be. He wiped the blood from his mouth and walked up the short amount of stairs and stood in front of her door. The last time he was here, he was about to make the biggest mistake of his life. Not that he cared. He walked over to peak into the window and the first thing he sees is her. Her hair flowing, her gorgeous smile, her beautiful face. She was seated on the couch with a guy who was making her laugh. All Stefan knew was the back of his head, one that didn't particularly look familiar but he knew that whoever it was, he was going to be his next victim. He opened his ears to listen in.
"I uh, I don't want to be too forward, but you're probably the most beautiful woman I have ever met."
"Probably?" Bonnie raises an eyebrow.
"Top five."
She laughed then hit his arm. "Thanks, I guess."
He chuckled. "No but seriously, your beautiful, and you look phenomenal."
She smiled.
"Do you wanna dance?"
"Sure,"
They stood and she took his hand and together they swayed themselves within a box. Stefan felt his fangs itching so he decided to go inside, still not being able to see the man's face. He headed straight towards the kitchen and poured himself a drink then threw it back before getting another.
"Stefan?"
The man in question signed hearing a familiar voice. "Go away, man."
"Bonnie said she didn't want you here. Elena told me what you did."
"Of course she did."
"You need to leave."
Stefan turned. "Jeremy, leave me alone. I'm not in the best mood right now."
"Which is why you should go."
Stefan closed his eyes trying to calm himself. He knew if he ever touched a little hair on the little Gilbert's head, he'd be banished. "I just need to see her. I'm sure you know how I feel." He opened his eyes.
Jeremy saw the pain behind them and let out a breath. "Fine. I never knew you were here."
Stefan nodded then watched him walk away and shortly he followed after him but decided to head upstairs and wait for her in her room. That way if she and this guy decides to sneak away, he'd be there to stop it and kill him right then and there. Sure, Bonnie would be pissed, but she could move past it because he's going it all as an act of lo— caring.
He walked over to her bed and laid face down on it. He grew hard at the scent of her. The visions of their sex flashed before his eyes and his want for her grew stronger. Her breasts bouncing, her stomach tight, the wetness between her legs. He turned to his back before he came and took deep breaths trying to calm himself down. By then, the guests are trickling out and he opens his ears to search for her voice.
"Thank you for keeping me company,"
He heard them kiss.
"Anytime, B. I'm looking forward to seeing you again."
"I'm not super busy so just drop by when you're free."
"Will do."
They kissed again several times then Bonnie pulled away. His arms slowly left her body and she waved him goodbye before closing her door. She let out a breath and smiled before heading upstairs. Thankfully people were responsible enough to throw away the majority of their cups and plates so she'd save the rest of the clean up for the morning. Right now she was tired and wanted nothing more but to take a hot shower and think about— "Stefan?"
She narrowed her eyes seeing him sitting on her bed with his head down resting on his hands. She walked over to him and bent her knees. "Stef,"
"I shouldn't have come here. I should've stayed away because now I want to kill him."
"Who?"
"That guy you were with. I know his license plate and his face. I watched him walk out and drive away and it took every bit of strength I had to not rip his heart out. You moved on."
She frowned. "That's not entirely true. Thomas is just different. He cares about me."
"And I don't?" He looked up at her.
"Obviously not enough. You left me on the side of the street-"
"Bonnie, I have apologized to you a hundred times! You keep bringing up the same shit, I explained to you why and I've only made that one mistake, and yet you're still holding it over my head."
"Because it deserves to be held over your head."
He sighed. "Bonnie, it's either you forgive me for this, or we're done."
She chuckled. "Are you kidding me? You're coming at me like I'm the one in your house, in your room on your bed. You're not in a position to make ultimatums."
"What do you want from me?"
"What do you want from me?"
"I want you to forgive me."
"Why?"
"Because I fucking love you, okay?" He yelled.
She watched his eyes.
"I hate it, but I love you."
"Get out."
He looked at her confusingly. "Bonnie—"
"Get out!"
His face went straight. "Fine. I'm done."
Bonnie let out a breath no longer seeing him there before the tears started.
…
Thomas watched her get lost in her head. He doesn't know what happened between when he left the party yesterday till now but he knew something happened. He cleared his throat gaining her attention and she quickly apologized. "What's in your mind?"
Bonnie sighed. "I don't think you'll want to know considering it has to do with a guy,"
"You're dating someone?"
"Was. We were in a fight for a couple of weeks and he showed up last night after everyone left and we just ended it."
"I'm sorry,"
"Please, the last thing you need to do is apologize. I should be focusing on enjoying being in your company,"
Thomas smiled. "Was he a supernatural being?"
She nodded. "Vampire."
"I see you have a type."
She chuckled. "I don't know, even though he was the first guy I dated in the supernatural world, I just feel like it's better. I don't have to hide such a major part of myself which I cherish so much from him."
"I get it, yeah. Though I won't say I technically cherish being a vampire, it is nice to be with someone and not have to worry if they'll accept me for who I am or not."
"So you tell all the women you date?"
"Only if it's serious. I'm very careful, even if it's serious and I feel like she'd tell everyone I'd keep my mouth shut, but if I meet someone who loves me and wants my best interest at heart then that's when I share."
"How has that been working out for you?"
"Well, I just got out of a serious relationship, actually."
"What happened?"
"I think I kind of revealed too much too quickly. I told her, she reacted as any sane person would, I gave her some space and after a week we met up again and she decided she wanted to continue our relationship and not long after I just started drinking blood in front of her, speeding all throughout our places, I'm fucking clumsy so once I broke my foot and I just snapped it back into place."
Bonnie shook her body imagining the site having him chuckle.
"She tried to be okay with it but I guess it wasn't normal enough. She was my first in a long time so now if it ever happens again, which I doubt it will, I know to take things slow."
"Can I get you two anything else?" Their waitress, Darla, came up to them.
They exchanged looks before looking back up at her, "No, just the check, please, thanks,"
"Coming right up," she walked away.
"Do you have something planned for later?" Thomas asked.
"No, what's up?"
"There's this party one of my friends is throwing, I would love if you could come as my date."
She smiled. "I'll be there. What kind of party?"
"Kind of like your typical high school senior party but people actually dance."
"So I should show up in a tank top and jeans?"
He laughed. "Well if it's the outfit you're concerned about, which I mean I guess I should've known since you're a female, but dress as you would going to a club. If that's a tank top and jeans then so be it."
"Here you are," Darla set the black book down.
Thomas reached for it and paid in cash. The two shortly stood and he grabbed her hand as they walked out of the restaurant. Once they reached her car, he backed her softly into it and ran his eyes over her face. His eyes were green, almost as green as Ste— Bonnie closed her eyes and leaned forward meeting their lips. He kissed her back immediately, opening his mouth to her in a makeout. Thomas moves his hands to her waist and pulled her closer to him. "These lips of yours," he talked against her mouth making her smile. "Do you want me to pick you up tonight or are you miss independent?"
She chuckled. "I'll drive just in case something happens and I need to save the world."
"How brave."
Bonnie laughed then kissed him once as a goodbye. She opened her door and got in as he walked a few more cars down to reach his.
Elena smiled watching her friend pick out an outfit for her date tonight with Thomas. She's glad that she found someone else and wishes nothing but happiness for her with her new potential lover.
Bonnie let out a small breath looking through her clothes unsure of what she should wear. He told her to dress as she would at a house party yet also a club so she was leaning more towards a dress that wasn't too tight or loose on her body. She hated this. It seemed like forever since she's had to pick out an outfit for a date and the realization of that made her frown and even more now thinking of Stefan. A part of her hates that she kicked him out the other night but she didn't want him to "fucking hate" loving her, she wants him to love loving her. She knows and understands who Stefan is now, but if he was willing to build a whole relationship with her then he should've been willing to possibly love her as well. He knows how she is and she doesn't remember changing her views on relationships. Even if her one with Stefan had a little twist, she's not the one to take things very lightly.
She looked over as her vibrating phone snapped her out of her head. She sighed lowly seeing a text from Caroline still debating on whether she should tell Elena the truth or not. Bonnie just told her to come over so the three of them could sit down and talk about it and maybe that will dilute the situation a little. She placed her phone down then told Elena that Caroline would be stopping by because they had some things to discuss. She tried to ignore the worrisome look on her face by returning her attention back to her closet and wished that Caroline would get here as soon as—
Ding, dong
Bonnie headed downstairs towards the door and hugged her blonde friend before they walked up the stairs towards her room.
"What's going on?" Elena questioned the second they stepped into the room.
Caroline exhaled then sat down, sandwiching herself between her friends but giving Elena some space. "I uh, I did something I'm not proud of. At all. I don't even know how it happened but somehow I- Damon and I slept together."
The room fell silent as Elena processed the words that were spoken. She knew that things between her and Damon were drifting but she never assumed it to be because of Caroline. He was obsessed with her, broke his bond with his brother because of her, practically hated by everyone because of what he would do for her, and yet he sleeps with Caroline? "Bonnie, did you know about this?"
"I did. I didn't even know how to react when Caroline told me but I knew- we both knew that she should tell you."
"And I only didn't right away because Damon didn't want to. A part of me really wanted him to be the one to tell you, not because I didn't want to but because of everything you both have been through together, I wanted him to explain his side and I tried, but I couldn't keep this from you. I'm so sorry."
"How did this even happen?"
"We were talking and- I can't even remember, my brain refuses to remember. Elena, I- I hate myself. I'm so sorry."
"I need to leave," she stood and sped out.
Caroline sighed. "I have no idea how well or horribly that went."
Stefan was enjoying a feed when he felt a breeze and he opened his eyes to see Elena sucking on the same neck. He narrowed his eyes and moved away and watched as she drained the woman dry. He looked at the lifeless woman on the ground then up at his ex-lover's eyes. He saw a spark in them that he's always wanted to see. When Elena turned, their relationship was practically over and he didn't get to enjoy her vampire side other than their day in the woods which was ultimately ruined by the sire bond. But here they are now. By the look she's giving him, he decides on his next move and pins her against the brick wall before attacking her lips. She responds quickly, kissing him back and raises her arms as his hands moved up her shirt.
He removes it then pulls her jeans and underwear down her legs before doing so to himself and lifts her higher on the wall, sliding in her. He meets their lips again as his hips pound within her until they come. Elena breathes deeply, hugging his body coming down from her high.
"What's wrong with you?" Stefan asked.
"Damon fucked Caroline and Bonnie knew but was able to look me in the eye without any problems."
"I'm failing to see how Caroline's hurt in this situation."
"Caroline will torture herself more than I ever can. I'll stop talking to her and it'll eat her up alive."
Stefan watched her eyes. "You've changed. I think I blame my brother,"
"I'm not your innocent little angel,"
He chuckled. "I guess not."
She pulled her underwear and jeans up her thighs. "I'll see you around."
"Wait," he grabbed her arm. "Are you going to tell Bonnie?"
She watched his eyes. "You need to move on. She's dating this vampire named Thomas now."
"You didn't answer my question."
"I don't know. Damon might though."
As he opened his mouth, she was gone and the realization of his actions hit him like a train. He punched the wall and called himself multiple names before speeding over to her place. He paced back and forth trying to think of a gentle way to tell her what happened but was coming up blank because in no situation would his Bonnie ever be OK with it. Maybe Bonnie wasn't the person he should talk to, maybe he should go to Damon first and convince him not to tell since he kept the secret about him and Caroline to himself. That all may fly out the window now since he fucked Elena but maybe it won't. Maybe Bonnie won't even care since she's seeing this Thomas guy. He growled at that realization.
Stefan walked off her porch and jumped, landing on the layer of roofing that led to her bedroom window. He didn't really care about being seen for he could just compel anyone who said something but he also wanted to make this quick before she senses him. He watched her watch herself in the mirror dressed in a blue dress that hugged her in all the right places. He smiled as she moved her hips, dancing a little he guesses to see if she could actually move comfortably in it. He wonders where she's going. A club maybe. Some type of party. He looks behind him hearing a car nearing but it just drives by so he returns his attention back into her window.
He sees her now seated on her bed looking down at her phone. He watches her thumb move quickly as she types. Probably a text to Thomas.
Why did she kick him out? He admitted his love to her and it was as if that wasn't what she wanted to hear for some reason. He thought that they would be together and the one going out on dates with her, not Thomas. He just a rebound anyway. He won't last long. Sooner or later he'd be gone and he'd get his chance at loving her again. That is if she doesn't hold him sleeping with Elena over his head as much as she did with him driving away.
Stefan jumped down, landing on her grass the second his phone started ringing and he sighed and cursed seeing if was Damon. "Hey,"
"I'm on my way to Bonnie's to pin her against a wall and fuck her."
"Da—" he sighed as he hung up then decided that he needed to tell Bonnie before Damon gets here. He sounded like he was actually in a car so he was serious.
Stefan knocked and heard her footsteps come down the stairs. She paused at the door looking out of the peephole and he figured that he needed to beg her, but the door shortly opened.
"What?"
"Can I please come in, it's important."
She watched his eyes and seeing the sincerity in them, she stepped aside welcoming him in and closed the door behind him. "What's wrong?"
"I uh. I had sex with Elena." He watched her eyes as she registered his confession.
"Okay,"
He narrowed his eyes. "What?"
"We're not together anymore and I'm seeing someone. You can have sex with whomever you like. Thanks for letting me know though, I guess."
"She did it to get back at you for keeping the secret of Caroline and Damon."
"I kind of guessed that but she failed and I can deal with Elena on my own."
Three knocks shattered the silence between them and Bonnie went over to answer it and sighed seeing Damon. She opened the door. "What?"
"Stefan-" he paused seeing the back of his brother just standing there like he was paralyzed. "Am I interrupting something?"
"Not really,"
"What's wrong with him?"
Bonnie looked back at him then turned to Damon and shrugged. "What do you want? If it's to tell me about Elena and him, I already know and I don't care."
Damon lifted his right eyebrow. "What do you mean you don't care?"
"Stefan and I aren't together anymore,"
"Yeah but- I mean she did it to be spiteful."
"And I get that and as I told Stefan, I can deal with Elena on my own."
He watched her and noticed that something was off. "You've changed. Maybe you've been around my emotionless brother too long."
"I'm not everyone's punching bag anymore."
"I guess not." He watched her a little longer before walking up to his brother and sighed at the pain behind his eyes. "Come on," he grabbed his arm and led them out.
Bonnie watched them get into his car and waited for him to drive away before bending her knees, letting out several breaths before crying into her hands.
…
Stefan stares at the shot glass in front of him before swallowing the clear liquid and placing the glass back on the table. The liquid represented his relationship with Bonnie and it's his fault that it's all gone. He had to be a dick. Had to ignore her and convince her to never want to go out on a date with him again. Why?
"Hey," Damon said gaining his attention. "For what it's worth I'm sorry. About Bonnie. Hell, it hurt me hear her say that she didn't care and I know you love her."
"I don't love her anymore,"
"Don't be like that, bro. I can hear the pain in your voice. You love her. Which is why I think you should flip your switch back on. Welcome everything in, let that Romeo Stefan come out."
"Why do you care?"
"Because you're a drag now. Besides, I need your Romeo to help me think of how I should apologize to Elena."
Stefan rolled his eyes.
"Go home, flip that switch to ON, take a couple of days to cry and moan, be a little bitch, then we can get started."
Stefan let out a breath and shortly found himself home alone in his room. Damon's suggestion kept playing over and over in his ear and a part of him thought that he was right. Maybe the reason why Bonnie's been blocking him out is that he's unable to love her as she wants him to and possibly needs him to. So he closes his eyes and prepares himself for the worst.
Flip.
