By the time Harry returned to the North Pole, he felt very excited and happy at the same time. Excited, because he was eager to get to know Dumbledore, who had wronged him so badly. Happy because Andromeda, who was a very nice and gentle witch, was willing to stand up for him against Albus Dumbledore and in favour of his godfather Sirius, who had also been wronged badly. Even her daughter had been very friendly and funny. Harry chuckled, as he recalled how she had stumbled over Paws and then changed into a canine and played with the puppy.
'I hope Professor Dumbledore won't be the headmaster any longer. Professor McGonagall seemed much nicer,' he thought, when he hurriedly washed his hands to ready himself for dinner.

"I am not sure that the trial against Dumbledore will be successful," Merlin informed them in a grave voice, once they began to eat.
"And why might that be?" Santa quirked an eyebrow at his brother, who was looking at them from his portrait.
Merlin let out a deep sigh. "I've been observing Dumbledore on the screen more or less the whole day. It was interesting to say the least."
#What exactly did he do?# Hedwig looked up from her bowl with phoenix treats and impatiently fluffed her feathers.
"He went to visit each of the dark families, who are on the Wizengamot."
"He what?" Santa's brows narrowed in apparent anger.
"I suggest that you watch some of the scenes later on."
'Oh no,' Harry thought, worriedly. Due to Andromeda's confidence, he had been fairly certain that the trial would go in their favour. 'What if he's able to manipulate the whole thing?'

Right after dinner, Harry, Santa and Claire made their way to the comfortable sofa in front of the large screen that allowed them to see any place in the world. While Hedwig occupied her favourite spot on Harry's shoulder, Paws made himself comfortable on his feet.
Due to some magic that Santa had cast at the screen many years ago, Merlin was able to operate the screen from within his portrait. He cast a silent spell at the screen, and the scenery changed, now showing an old wizard with a long white beard standing in front of a large, wooden door.
"Is that Dumbledore?"
#Yes, that's the meddling old coot.#
'He looks like someone taken from one of the fairy tales that we read at the primary school,' Harry thought, chuckling.
A house-elf opened the door and allowed the old wizard entrance.
"I am Albus Dumbledore, Head of the Wizengamot. I am here to speak with Lord Mulciber."
"Tipsy wills calls Master. Please waits here." The house-elf pointed to a leather sofa in a slightly dark room that was void of any decoration except for a large vase standing on a side board.
Merlin cast a spell on the screen, and the scenery changed to an equally darkish office. A middle-aged man was sitting behind a large oak table, looking at his visitor in apparent disdain.
"Lord Mulciber." The old wizard uttered a greeting.
'The lord somehow reminds me of Uncle Vernon,' Harry thought. 'Even if he's not that fat. At least, he looks equally grumpy.'
"Professor Dumbledore, what can I do for you?" The lord spoke in a cold voice, looking at the old wizard in apparent disdain.
"As you might have heard, tomorrow, I am to undergo a trial because of my way of handling matters for the boy who lived."
The lord's lips stretched to a sneer.
"I remember a day, when your cousin Percival died an untimely death, shortly before your uncle, your father's older brother, met his fate, making you the heir to the ancient house of Mulciber."
Mulciber's eyes widened in apparent shock, and he quickly replied. "I don't know what you mean, Professor, but I'll be sure to vote for you in the upcoming trial."
"Please do so. Thank you very much for your time."
An instant later, the house-elf saw Dumbledore out.
#I can't believe it. And Dumbledore claims for himself to be the leader of the light?#
Harry gently caressed the phoenix' crown feathers to calm his clearly upset familiar, just when the next scene commenced.

"Lord Malfoy," Dumbledore greeted a man with long blond hair.
"Dumbledore. To what do I owe this 'pleasure'? Might it have something to do with the Wizengamot meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning?"
"Mr. Malfoy, all I ever did for Harry Potter was for the Greater Good. You better remember that, as I recall that I was told that it was absolutely impossible to force someone to become a Death Eater by placing the person under the Imperius curse."
"Ah, was it impossible?" Malfoy raised an eyebrow, before he pointed the tip of his cane towards the bookshelf, apparently to remove an invisible piece of dust.
"I shall see you tomorrow." With that, the old wizard took his leave, and the scene ended.

Dumbledore went to meet several more people. Harry realised in surprise that none of them were friendly to say the least. 'Are most people in the magical world so unfriendly?' he wondered. 'Andromeda and Tonks were completely different.'
Apparently able to follow his strand of thought, even if he did not voice it, Hedwig said, #These people were all Death Eaters, followers of Voldemort in the war. They are bad wizards, each of them.#
Harry nodded in understanding.
#The children of some of them will be in your year at Hogwarts. I remember that they were born at the same time as you.#
"But there will be many nice children from good families, too," Claire said, and Harry cast her a grateful look.

Twelve hours later, Harry found himself sitting in the visitors' gallery of Courtroom 10 at the Ministry of Magic. Andromeda was seated next to him, and Hedwig was perched on his shoulder. Since dogs were not allowed in the courtroom, Paws was completely invisibly and silently laying on his feet. Tonks was sitting on his other side, claiming that her boss, Amelia Bones, had allowed her to attend the trials as an Auror in training, knowing that she was very interested in the outcome due to being Sirius' cousin. Harry felt very much reassured by the two witches' presence in addition to the company of his two familiars.
Amelia Bones, whom Andromeda had introduced to him as the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, led through the trials. First of all, the case of Sirius Black was brought up.
Harry looked up, when a thin, unkempt man was brought into the room in chains, flanked by four Aurors. He was taken to the chair that was sitting in the centre of the room; however, the chains were not taken off him, and Harry immediately felt sorry for the man, who – according to everyone around him – was not only innocent, but had spent almost ten years in prison due to false accusations.
Andromeda explained that Sirius had not been the Potters' Secret Keeper, listing the Potters' will as proof for her statement.
"Do you have a copy of the will?"
"Yes." Andromeda handed a copy to Amelia Bones. "I have known Sirius since when I was a child, and as mischievous as he is, he would never willingly kill anyone. Therefore, I request that he be questioned under Veritaserum."
"I second the request," Amelia Bones said.
"Me too," an older lady, who was sitting in the Wizengamot, spoke up.
'That's Minerva McGonagall,' Hedwig telepathically informed Harry, who stared at the older witch in amazement. 'She looks very strict, but what she wrote to me was friendly, and it's great that she supported Andromeda for Sirius.'
He was brought back to reality, when Amelia Bones began to question Sirius under Veritaserum.
To Harry's relief, everything went smoothly, and Sirius' answers matched the facts that he had heard from his mother and Andromeda. He slowly relaxed. Even if he had never met his godfather, he fully trusted his mother's assessment that he was a good man, and he was looking forward to having him in his life in the near future.
After just a little more than an hour, Sirius was released into freedom. He received a compensation of one million Galleons for each year of his unrightful imprisonment and was offered his previous position as an Auror back.
During the thirty-minute-break between Sirius' trial and the one for Dumbledore, a thirty-minute break was announced, and Sirius immediately joined them in the visitors' gallery.
To Harry's surprise, the older wizard barely acknowledged his cousins' presence, but solely concentrated on him.
"Harry," he said, and a huge smile appeared on his face. "I am so happy to finally have you back. Only the thought of you kept me safe during all these years. Are you all right?"
"Yes, thank you. I am very happy to meet you." Harry cast his godfather a broad smile.
"Hello to you, too, Sirius," Andromeda said, attracting the man's attention.
"Drommy." He turned to his other cousin. "Nymphadora? Oh my, you've grown into a beautiful lady."
Tonks rolled her eyes, and her hair colour changed from the previously bright pink to a neon green. "Don't call me that."
Sirius chuckled. "It's good to have you all back."
"You stink though. You should go and take a shower." Andromeda's expression was serious. "Hurry, so you'll be back on time to put Dumbledore in his place. His trial is going to commence in twenty minutes."
"All right. I won't be back in twenty minutes' time, but I'll come as soon as possible. Harry, wait for me."
"I will." Harry cast his godfather a reassuring smile. 'I like him. He seems funny and nice,' he thought, feeling very happy.

To Harry's disappointment, Sirius had not returned, when the trial against Dumbledore commenced.
Amelia immediately called Andromeda into the witness stand. Andromeda informed the assembled Wizengamot how Albus Dumbledore had completely ignored the Potters' will. "He made himself Harry's guardian, although possible guardians were named in the will, and he was not one of them. He then took Harry to his muggle relatives, who were not only abusive and hated magic with a passion, but were also explicitly excluded in the Potters' will. He stole money from Harry's accounts and finally signed a betrothal contract for Harry with Ginevra Weasley in spite of not being his rightful guardian. I plead that Dumbledore will be stripped off his positions as the headmaster of Hogwarts and the head of the Wizengamot, and I also suggest extending this case of attempted line theft to Molly Weasley."
Madam Bones turned to the Aurors, who were standing in front of the door. "Please summon Molly Weasley and ask Arthur Weasley to attend as a witness."
'Cool,' Harry thought, as he observed how the Aurors turned around and walked out in a coordinated single movement.
"Albus Dumbledore." Bones then turned to the old wizard, who was sitting in the chair of the accused, albeit not in chains, as they were hanging loosely to both sides of the chair. "How do you plead?"
"Innocent."
'What?' Harry thought in shock, when Tonks calmingly laid a hand on his arm.
"Easy," she whispered.
Harry listed in annoyance, when Dumbledore gave a long-winding explanation how everything that he did had been for the 'Greater Good' as he called it. His eyes widened in surprise, when the old wizard informed everyone how he had placed blood wards around the Dursleys' residence to keep Harry safe.
"That did not help him against the abuse from his relatives." Andromeda's voice was sharp and cold, and Harry was glad that it was not directed at him.
"Ah, but I am sure that the Dursleys can't have been so bad. Petunia is Harry's aunt, and as such I am certain that she loves her nephew." Harry let out a scoff that fortunately remained unheard by everyone but Tonks and his familiars.
'Manipulating old coot with that grandfatherly voice,' Hedwig thought to him.
Harry nodded, smiling. 'Thank God Mum understands me,' he thought in relief.
He looked up in surprise, when a redheaded man entered the room and took the seat next to Andromeda.
"Arthur," she greeted him in a friendly voice.
"Andromeda, what in the world is happening? Why does Molly have to appear in front of the court?"
Andromeda let out a deep sigh. "Your wife worked together with Albus Dumbledore stealing from Harry Potter." Ignoring the man's gasp, she continued. "They even made an attempt of line theft by setting up a betrothal contract between Harry Potter and your daughter Ginevra. I suppose that you were not even informed about it."
"No." Mr. Weasley stared at Andromeda, wide-eyed. "Please believe me. I never even heard about any of this."
"I believe you." Andromeda smiled at the redhead, before she turned to Harry. "Harry, this is Arthur Weasley. I know him from my own time at Hogwarts, and he is a very gentle person. He would have never done what his wife and Dumbledore did to you."
"Hello Mr. Weasley," Harry said, smiling.
"Hello Harry. I am so sorry…"
"It's not your fault."
Their conversation was interrupted, when Amelia Bones asked the members of the Wizengamot to vote if Dumbledore should be able to keep his position as the headmaster of Hogwarts.
"Red sparks mean that Professor Dumbledore will be allowed to remain on the headmaster's position. Please let out green sparks if you wish Dumbledore to lose his position," Amelia Bones said. "Afterwards, we shall deal with his position as the Supreme Mugwump."
'The head of the Wizengamot,' Hedwig telepathically translated for Harry, who nodded in understanding.
To his annoyance, the red sparks outnumbered the green ones by just one. 'Just because he bribed the Death Eaters,' Hedwig thought to him, sounding extremely angered, and Harry gently cradled the phoenix close.
"Very well. Professor Dumbledore, you will be able to remain on your position; however, you will be put on probation," Madam Bones informed the old wizard, giving him a strict look. "Now as to the position of the head of the Wizengamot, we shall proceed in the same way. Red sparks if you wish him to remain on the position, green sparks if you wish someone else to take over the position."
"Wait!" While everyone turned their heads towards the door to the Wizengamot chamber, Sirius dashed into the room, waving a parchment. "I just took over the lordship of the ancient and noble house of Black. Therefore, I wish to vote as well. I have two votes by the way, one for the Black family and one for the Potter family."
Laughter and applause greeted the young wizard, and Harry smiled, feeling strangely proud of his godfather to make such an appearance, especially, when this time, the green sparks outnumbered the red ones by exactly one.
'Sirius' two votes,' Harry thought in amusement, as he applauded together with everyone else sitting in the visitors' gallery.
An old witch rose from her chair, and Hedwig informed him, 'That's Augusta Longbottom, the grandmother of my godchild Neville. He's only a day older than you, and you'll meet him at Hogwarts.'
"Considering how badly we have failed Lord Black, I suggest for him to become the new head of the Wizengamot, provided that he's ready to take over, considering what he has been through during all these years."
"Lord Black?" Amelia Bones gave him a questioning look.
"I accept, Meli." Sirius grinned broadly, as the witch rolled her eyes in apparent annoyance.
'The two of them were a couple, when it happened,' Hedwig informed Harry.
This time, around eighty percent of the members of the Wizengamot let out green sparks, confirming Lord Sirius Black as the new head of the Wizengamot.

After a thirty-minute break, during which Sirius pulled Harry, Andromeda and Tonks into an eager conversation, the trial against Molly Weasley began.
Sirius said a few words but then immediately gave the floor to Madam Bones.
"Mrs. Weasley, you are accused of line theft. You were also aware of Dumbledore stealing from young Harry Potter on the behalf of you and your son Ronald."
Mrs. Weasley stared at Amelia Bones in apparent shock.
"No. I only did what Albus told me, and the Potter boy has revoked all payments anyway."
"Did you sign a betrothal contract for your daughter Ginevra and Harry Potter, the sole heir to the ancient and noble house of Potter?"
"Yes."
"Did you ask your husband, Arthur Weasley, for his consent about the matter?"
"He would agree anyway. He leaves everything concerning the children to me."
"Mr. Arthur Weasley, would you like to comment on the matter?"
Arthur Weasley rose from his chair. "Madam Bones, thank you for the consideration. Yes, I would like to reply to this." When the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement motioned for him to speak, he raised his wand and addressed the Wizengamot in a firm voice.
"I swear on my magic that I did not know anything about it, that I would have never approved of this attempt of line theft as well as the theft from the young orphan, Harry Potter. So mote it be."
A golden glow surrounded his body, causing Harry to observe the scene in surprise.
"Please punish my wife as you see fit. As of today, I will separate from her."
"Arthur!"
"I am sorry, Molly, but your behaviour is intolerable."
Harry looked at the older wizard in amazement, when he took back his seat, while the members of the Wizengamot discussed the punishment of his wife in detail. He absentmindedly observed Tonks caress Paws' fur and only looked up again, when Molly Weasley began to cry and shout in apparent devastation.
