Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Hair-Raising Adventures. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own Gunvolt, Inti Creates and a few others do.

The station looked old. It had holes punched in it, there was missing paint on every single wall. The panels were cracked.

'How does one survive here? Then again? He is an adept, he's probably been here long enough to cope… Amazingly, he managed to survive this long. Then again? His brilliant life would have been extinguished long before if not for this.' Desna thought to herself as she sighed and shook her head.

She looked around the station, more confused than anything else. If it was so easy? Why wouldn't he have fixed it up? This place looked centuries old.

"What type of Adapt are you?" Desna asked as the adapt turned to her. "You can survive in the vacuum of space, there are very few adepts capable of doing such a thing. What kind of adapt are you? You command power that almost nobody else has, don't you?" Desna questioned before she hummed.

"One that's pretty done with all the fighting." He added before he walked further into the station. "I had work to do. You are not helping…. There is plenty of death and chaos upon you. I don't wish to be part of the fighting when it comes down to it." He stated before he shook his head.

Desna was left caught off guard by this. She didn't want to think about the fact that she had served Zonda in her plans to remake Earth in their image. She knew the side of the conflict that she had chosen if it had been so easy to simply settle things like that? She wouldn't have chosen the path of violence.

"You have weapons, yet you don't use them?" Desna questioned before she tapped two hair tendrils together. "What type of pain has befallen you to forsake weapons and battle? Our kind is constantly under siege." Desna stated to which the adept turned, ready to explode.

"And killing them in return will help fix that?" He questioned before he rolled his eyes. "How? Tell me HOW the slaughter will help anything? I've seen people on both sides die for nothing. No honor, no ideals, no future." He hissed as he turned to the wall, far too disgusted to simply look her in the eye.

"Nothing but the constant screaming of those who died in combat for no reason." He continued with a scowl pressing his face. "Death on that scale? That is not at all justice…. And you're not the first to try and come to convince me it is." He stated before his wings spread once more.

Desna was silent, confused, and off-put by the Adept's words. She didn't want to kill someone, however? That didn't mean she wouldn't use violence to protect herself. Who would be that much of a pacifist to be willing to die? She had more questions, but they wouldn't be easily answered if she didn't speak to this adapt.

She watched the adapt hover down the path and further into the station. She sighed, slowly following behind on her tendrils of hair. She was so confused as to how this could go now. There were so many unknowns.

So many ways this went bad if she played her cards wrong. What happened if she had thrown her hat into the ring only to find out this man did not care for her? It seemed as insane as anything else in this world and it was only not to be out stated that she was aware of this. It was far too interesting for her to simply pass on if she was honest, though.

Neither seemed to mind the other's company if they were still honest. There was simply no real-time for this to boil over as of now. He glanced at her at least once before he crossed his arms crossed across his chest.

He understood she was insane as to what to do next. She was rather insane when it came down to it. She had a lot on her plate, and he wasn't one to bother people who had a lot to deal with besides him. He wasn't at all prepared to care for her.

She had nothing on her mind now and nothing that made him expect her to be a threat. It was simply a matter of time before someone who was showed their face appeared and forced his hand far more than he wished to.

She had a lot more on her mind which didn't bother her yet. It had simply come down to what he did next. Her own power was limited since she was still nursing the wounds from before. It seemed as if she was at an impasse with her friend may or may not decide to kill her if she said something wrong.

How had they managed to get here to this space station? It seemed old, yet not as old as she expected it to be. Had he lived here away from Earth? Away from people who hadn't considered Adapts to be worth it.

Desna stared at the Adept who seemed to be honestly bored and tired. There were bags under his eyes, a sure sign of someone who had slowly been whittled down by time and effort. It had made her question a few many things if she was not to lie.

She reached one of her strands of hair slowly began to reach itself towards him. He stared at her with an interest that seemed not to be matched anytime soon. The sheer annoyance that was to be written across his features was hidden by his armor.

"Why are you here rather than on Earth?" Desna questioned while her friend seemed to raise an eyebrow towards her as he did so.

"Because Earth doesn't accept adepts." He stated as his armor seemed to glow an iridescent purple. "And because I don't want anything to do with the war." He added while he crossed his arms across his chest.

"What…?" Desna said before she realized he was staring straight at her. "You mean the revolution?" Desna questioned to which he rolled his eyes at her.

"Oh, not it's called something new. Wonderful, and here I expected us to all be singing show tunes." He joked while a twinge of bitterness seemed to spread across his face. "Trying to slaughter anyone who didn't accept Adepts didn't help. It won't make them respect us. How did anyone seem to consider it even close to it?" He stated with annoyance which seemed only to increase the more he stared at her.

She winced verbally under this. It had been a lot harsher than she seemed to expect. A lot harsher than it had been a few days ago. This wasn't to be done anytime soon. She was reminded that her methods had failed. Her predictions had been true at one point, but as of today? They had no longer held the water they had at one point or another. It had shattered a lot of her fate at the moment. A lot more was to be said and done before today to end as of now.

It had become a lot odder of a thing when she considered it. It seemed as if she had pressed a button on him that couldn't be fixed. The problem when it came down to it. She had a lot more on her plate. She had more on the problems when it came down to it. She seemed as if she seemed to question when it came down to it.

"What happens when the world is turned into a warzone and burned into an entire cesspool, hmm? When the entire world is destroyed under the weight of armies and weapons?" He asked while he crossed his arms across his chest. "What happens when this place is ripped into pieces and sent spiraling into the gutter? There are conflict lines and as far as I can realize? We crossed them with the revolution." He stated before he frowned at her.

It had become obvious to him that she was just as sullied as the others. She wanted to ponder why he hated her, despite not knowing why it was a problem or why he hated it. The idea didn't surprise him at the end of the day, every single person seemed to be unaware as to why he had such problems with the idea at the end of the day.

"I expected better intelligence from someone who's supposed to be one of the best warriors from the looks of it." He stated before he rose to his feet. "And you called me the luminous one. Why? That's not my name. my name is Solstice." He stated as he flapped his metallic wings.

He watched her seem to raise an eyebrow before he crossed his arms once more. It had become a harder pill to swallow, a harder one to swallow if she hadn't listened to him. Still? This was not something he wished to keep from her. If she was one of the adepts that believed in nothing but pure violence? He'd deal with it, but Solstice was not going to resort to violence anytime soon, he had deemed himself above such a thing.

Desna watched as he seemed to cross away from where he had been a little while ago. He stared at her with a sigh as he began to realize just how bad it'd be if she had no real idea what had come.

"There will be problems with this if anything goes wrong. I will not let someone stay here if they wish to be an enemy. I hope that is not going to be a problem we need to deal with in any way shape or form. At least not in a way that becomes a problem for either of us." Solstice stated as he stared at her with annoyance staining his voice.

It made sense to him and her. She didn't wish to be an enemy to him if he was probably as powerful as he appeared. She was still bothered by his ethical stand as to how it seemed to clash with all she had learned. It was most vexing to see someone who hated almost all she seemed to stand for. Not a stance she wished to have if it came down to it. The longer she denied this? The longer it became a problem.

Still? The motive was clear on his face. There was nothing left to what she had been at the end of the day. She was aware that whatever she had been having died a while ago. Now was neither the time nor place to stop anything. This had become a lot harder to grasp when she considered it.

Now was neither the time nor place for pointing fingers nor trying to become the enemy of an adapt that seemed to want nothing more than to mount her head on a pike. If she wished to make an enemy of him? It'd need to be when he hadn't wanted either her or the others dead. No, she'd learn why she had been drawn here, then she'd make her assumptions.

"Is there any food here? I assume you do not starve at the time when it comes down to it?" Desna questioned with an eyebrow raised towards him.

He nodded and seemed to relent if only for a moment.
