Chapter 6

I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, the bed dipped as Angel climbed in next to me.

"Was everything ok?" I asked him quietly, my head still full of sleep.

"Shhh hermosa, go back to sleep," he replied, pulling me gently into his arms, "everything is fine. He just wanted to talk to me about work stuff." I nodded, curling into his chest.

"I kinda like you Angel," I sighed happily and he laughed quietly.

"Well that's good," he chuckled, "Me estoy enamorando de ti."

"Whatever that means, I think I like it," I mumbled, happy, as I felt sleep take me once again.

(Angel's POV)

I just lay there, watching her sleep. This chick had come out of nowhere and changed my entire world. A week ago I never would've believed that this would happen – hell, if anything, I would've thought maybe something would eventually happen with me and Adelita, not some girl from England looking for her brother. Now I couldn't even think of Adelita. I couldn't see anyone in my head but Hope.

She sighed in her sleep, the corners of her mouth turning up into a small smile. She really was beautiful. He pale skin so evident against mine, the dark brown of her hair that made her blue eyes glow. I never understood my brother's attraction to Emily, but I did now. I didn't know what was going to happen with the rebels and Gallindo, but I knew no matter what, I had found my old lady. There was just the small matter of telling the Tacoma killer, if he did indeed turn out to be her brother.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was. I had heard enough of the stories to know he was fierce, tough and ruthless when he needed to be. Though Hope was far from a killer, seeing the way she fiercely protected Letty, and was down to get dirty to protect my club, I could see some Lowman toughness in her. I just couldn't predict how she was going to react when she found out what kind of man her brother was.

I ran my fingers lightly through the ends of her hair as I thought about how crazy the last week had been. I felt like a shitty person; I had just told Bishop about the tunnel under Riz's place. I don't know what possessed me to do it, I just panicked and needed to keep Coco out of the line of fire. Though I wanted to say I did it purely to protect my best friend, maybe the truth was I just wanted to protect myself. Either way, we couldn't be found out, and finding Riz's tunnel presented an obvious scapegoat. I just hoped Riz wasn't using the tunnel for any shit that would blow back on the club. But I couldn't get to ahead of myself. I just needed to be thankful that, for now, the heat was away from Coco.

The sun was just coming up when my phone buzzed; it was a text from Adelita. As I pulled away from Hope gently to read the text, she stirred.

"What's wrong?" she asked, her blue eyes blinking at me as she woke up slowly. Her hair was a mess of waves where I had been playing with it all night and she had never looked more tempting. I looked at her, knowing instantly I didn't want to lie to her.

"It's Adelita," I told her, pointing to my phone.

"The rebel? Is she ok?" She asked, and I smiled at her instant kindness for a woman she didn't even know. Sometimes her compassion (and naivety) astounded me. If she only knew the kind of things Adelita was capable of, maybe she wouldn't be so concerned.

"She's fine," I told her, kissing the side of her head. "She needs a pick up. I'll take the prospect." She frowned, only for a moment, before smoothing out her features.

"Ok," she replied, attempting a smile, "be careful please." It took me a minute to realise my mistake.

"Would you like to come?" I asked her quietly, taking her hand in mine. She looked up at me, surprise on her face.

"Do you want me to?" She asked in return, making me smile again.

"Si," I said simply and her answering grin took my breath away.

"I know that word," she said cheekily, before kissing me deeply.

"Then let's go," I told her, pulling her gently out of bed so we could both get dressed.

I don't know why but I was nervous. It wasn't because anything had happened between me and Adelita. Sure we had flirted a few times, but nothing had ever come of it, and Hope was everything to me. I think maybe it was because I knew Adelita didn't like strangers, and I had yet to see her get on with another adult female. I noticed the only adult she really spent with was Pablo and I had a sneaking suspicion he batted for the pink team. The last thing I wanted was a showdown between the girl I was with and the girl I was helping behind my club's back, but with Hope now knowing the truth, I knew they needed to meet.

We walked out of the clubhouse hand in hand, just as the sun was coming up. I banged on the trailer door, telling EZ we were needed at the warehouse. He knew what that meant. He was surprised when he saw Hope with me as he came out of the trailer, pulling his hoody on.

"Hey," he said, smiling at her.

"Good morning, Ezekiel," she smiled back.

"Adelita?" He asked me and I nodded.

"She's coming state side," I told him and he nodded, heading to the driver's door of the van.

"We're not taking the bikes?" Hope asked, and I felt a rush of pleasure when I swear she looked a tiny bit disappointed. I shook my head at her.

"Not today, princesa, we need somewhere to hide Adelita. Will you be ok in the back?" I asked and she nodded, kissing me quickly.

"It's cool, you don't have to worry about me," she told me sassily, climbing into the back of the van and closing it behind her. I exchanged a glance with EZ, frowning when I saw him grinning.

"Chicks, man," I said quietly, shaking my head. I could barely keep up with their emotions.

(Hope POV)

We pulled up at a large warehouse, for what looked to be for dresses. I didn't ask; I figured the dresses were just a cover.

I stepped down from the van and Angel took my hand, pulling me close to him. I could see there was something playing on his mind.

"What's wrong?" I asked him quietly, not sure if he would want to talk about it in front of EZ. He sighed, removing his hand from mine, but only to light a cigarette.

"Adelita isn't exactly… friendly," he explained. "She might not be happy that I've told you about her. She might have questions for you."

"Ok," I answered. That made sense to me, so I wasn't sure why he has so worried about it. It only seemed natural that she would be weary of strangers, given the life she led.

Together we walked into the factory, where Angel opened up a panel on the wall to reveal a hole, complete with a ladder that descended down into darkness.

"Is that… a tunnel?" I asked and he nodded.

"They run under the border and out to the other side," EZ explained and I looked at him.

"Mexico?" I asked and he nodded. We only stood there for a couple of minutes before a head popped up from the hole. She was very pretty, with olive skin and light brown eyes. I felt a slight pang of jealousy as Angel held his hand out to help her out of the hole, but I knew I was being silly. He was just being a gentleman. I felt even more angry though when I saw the way she smiled at him. Her smile quickly disappeared though, when she noticed me standing there.

¿Quien es ella? ¿Que está hacienda ella aquí?" She asked, directed at Angel.

"This is Hope. She's with me, and you can speak English," he answered, pulling me tightly to his side as I tensed at her tone. "Hope, this is Adelita, the leader of the rebels." She regarded me with a cool stare.

"And you trust her?" She asked, her accent pronounced. I was trying really hard to keep my cool when she was talking about me like I wasn't in the same room.

"Yeah I do," he answered, "She's my girl. The question is do you trust me?" They stared at each other for a few minutes and I started to wonder if there was something more between them that Angel hadn't told me.

"If I didn't, you'd be dead," she responded and walked towards the door.

"Well, that's settled then," Ez said sarcastically, clearly trying to ease the tension. "Let's go."

We all walked together back to the van, Angel opening the door for me and Adelita to climb into the back. We sat on opposite sides of the van in silence, and the ride was uncomfortable in more ways than one.

Adelita removed the hat she was wearing, revealing her long dark curls. Silently, she passed something to the guys who were sitting in the front.

"Thank you, Ezekiel," she said quietly, as he took the bag from her. I couldn't help it; I really disliked her already.

We had been driving for a couple of minutes before EZ asked Adelita something. She was staring at the wall of the van and didn't answer. EZ looked back at us and I shrugged at him. He grinned, at what I guessed was both the tension in the truck and the fact I had no idea what he had said. Angel also looked back, catching my eye. I felt the familiar rush when he winked at me. He then also spoke something in Spanish, looking at Adelita.

"We're in America. We should speak English," she responded finally, and I could tell it was a sly dig at Angel for calling her out earlier. Angel didn't respond, shaking his head and turning back to the front of the van.

"Do you have other siblings?" She asked them suddenly.

"No," Angel responded, "After the two of us, my folks knew they reached perfection." EZ smirked at his brother's answer and I snorted at what he had said. Angel looked back, winking at us both. Even Adelita cracked a smile. EZ and Angel both chuckled at his joke.

"How long since your mother passed?" Adelita then asked and the humour left the conversation.

"Almost nine years," he answered, and all I wanted to do was reach out and take his hand. Adelita seemed oblivious to the upset on both of their faces.

"Your father didn't remarry?" She continued, and I felt the urge to punch her in the face. Who randomly asks these kind of questions?

"For him… She's still very much there," EZ replied this time, and I could hear the pain in his voice. Angel was nodding in the front seat.

"Literally. In a jar. It's… creepy as fuck," he said and I smiled, recalling our earlier conversation about this. As bad as it sounds, it gave me a comfort to know he had shared stuff with me that he hadn't shared with her. I watched as Adelita smiled to herself, looking at the wall of the van again.

"He likes talking to her," EZ explained quietly, looking back at her. He gaze also caught my eye and I smiled sadly at him, letting him know I was there for him. He smiled back at me then turned to watch the road. After a few more seconds, Adelita suddenly looked out of the windscreen.

"Pull over," she said, tilting her head. "On the left."

We pulled over and Adelita open the side door, hopping out of the van. I didn't follow and she closed the door behind her. Looking through the grate to the front of the van though, I watched as she walked passed Angel's door, putting her hand on his arm as she passed the open window, smiling at him. My heart was pounding. After she was a few steps away she looked back, smiling at the Reyes brothers. Angel nodded, smiling back at her. I felt sick.

"What's she doing on this side?" EZ asked, as they watched her approach a car which was waiting for her. Angel appraised his brother, pushing his head back against the head rest.

"Let's find Coco and Gilly. I'll tell you what I know," he answered and we took off. Neither of them spoke to me which, given how I was currently feeling, was probably for the best. It was clear there were feelings between Angel and Adelita and I felt like the biggest fucking idiot in the world. I didn't know whether to punch Angel in the face or burst into tears.

I sat there in silence, all the way back to the clubhouse. When we got there, I immediately opened the door and walked straight into the clubhouse, ignoring Angel when he called out my name. As I opened the door, I passed by Izzy and Gilly, sitting having breakfast. Izzy took one look at my face and stepped away from the table, and I heard her ask "What did you do?" as I all but ran to my dorm room. She opened the door not two seconds later, just in time to see me cry.

"Babe, what happened?" She asked, pulling me in for a hug. I shook my head, knowing no matter how much I was hurting, I couldn't tell her anything. She seemed to understand, hugging me tighter for a few minutes until I calmed down.

"I was just being stupid, thinking this could work," I eventually told her and she pulled back to look at me.

"Do I need to cut someone's dick off?" she asked and I laughed, shaking my head before the tears started falling again.

"I don't know what we're doing here, Iz," I sighed and she frowned at me.

"Bitch, we're here to find your brother. Whatever happened, whatever Angel did, it's irrelevant. Fuck him if he isn't treating you like the queen you are babe. In a few days, we will be out of here, either with your brother, or once again on the hunt for your brother," she said, before adding, "though can I request if this Happy fellow isn't your brother, that the next place we try doesn't involve biker gangs?" I laughed, shaking my head.

"I'm so sorry you got dragged into this Iz," I told her and she kissed her teeth at me.

"Bitch please, I invited myself," she reminded me, linking her arm in mine and pulling me to sit on the bed with her. "I don't know what happened love, and you don't need to tell me. Fuck the guys. Let's do something fun, just you and me, yeah? There must be a mall or something around here?" I grinned at her.

"I'd like that. I think I need some space from this place," I admitted and she clapped her hands.

"It's settled then, we are going shopping," she exclaimed, excited.

"What are we gonna do about the fact we can't leave here without a patch?" I said and she rolled her eyes.

"What is it with these guys?" She huffed, "I don't know, we'll take the one that isn't working, that also isn't Angel. Though I'm still happy to punch him for you." I laughed.

"You really don't need to," I told her and she tilted her head.

"Are you gonna talk to him? Or is it so bad it can't be fixed?" She asked quietly and I shrugged.

"I don't know. I need some space. Clear my head. Then I'll decide," I told her and she nodded.

"Sounds good, now put a smile back on your pretty face and let's get out there," She ordered and I wiped my tears away, grabbing my bag.

As we walked back into the clubhouse, I saw Angel sitting talking to Coco, Gilly and EZ. His eyes immediately found mine and he looked stressed, confused and upset. I looked down, avoiding his gaze as Izzy led us to the front door. She was just about to open it when Riz and Taza walked in from outside. We stepped to the side to let them pass.

"Morning brothers, ladies," Riz greeted everyone and I managed to smile for him.

"Bikes are on the pit, prospect," Taza said, looking over to where they were all sitting. EZ looked at Angel before nodding and heading out the door, passing us as well. He looked at me concerned but didn't say anything, heading out the door. Izzy tried for a second time to step out, but was this time stopped by Hank, Bishop and Creeper entering the clubhouse.

"Templo," Hank told everyone, and I smiled, knowing this would be a perfect time to slip out.

"Where you going sweetheart?" Bishop asked softly, catching my wrist as we passed him.

"We just thought we'd go to the mall today. We need some more… appropriate clothes for the weather and thought we'd get out of your way," Izzy explained with extra cheer in her voice. Bishop looked at me for confirmation and I smiled, nodding.

"Not without a patch, you don't. Wait until after Templo and I'll send one of the guys with you," he answered. Izzy opened her mouth to respond but I squeezed her wrist.

"Sure," I answered, nodding, and pulled Izzy over to take a seat at one of the tables. As the guys got up to go to Templo, Angel passed me and leaned towards me as if to kiss my forehead. I pulled away at the last second, my eyes filling with tears and he looked shocked. He didn't say anything though, instead he pulled back and followed his brothers into templo.

"Are we really going to wait?" Izzy whispered and I shook my head.

"Fuck no," I responded, and waited for the glass door to close before tiptoeing out the front. As we walked down the steps, I spotted Letty getting out of the truck with Chucky, talking to EZ.

"Hey Letty," I greeted her with a smile, which she returned. "Letty this is my best friend Izzy. Izzy, this is Letty."

"Dang, nice eyeliner girl!" Izzy exclaimed as a way of a greeting, making me laugh. We carried on walking to our car when EZ stepped in front of us.

"You've gotta stick around," he said quietly, and I glared at him.

"We just want to go shopping," Izzy complained. EZ looked at me.

"I just need some space, Ezekiel," I told him. "Our shit's all here, we're coming back." He sighed.

"I still can't let you go alone," he said and Letty tutted at him.

"Don't be such a party killer Zeke," she said and Izzy laughed.

"I like you," she told Letty and she smiled, "do you know where any decent malls are?"

"Chucky is gonna make me some breakfast and my dad wants me for something. But I can show you after?" She offered, looking awkward, "maybe come with you guys?" I realised that she wasn't sure if her presence was wanted, and my heart went out to her.

"Hell yes," I told her firmly, and we both linked arms with her. "We can wait around for a bit."

"Anything if you'll tell me where you got that liner from," Izzy added, "but I want to try some of Chucky's huckleberry jam if we're staying."

"I accept that," Chucky said as we all walked back to the clubhouse, making us laugh.

Chucky fixed us all some breakfast, which we were still enjoying, when the guys came back into the room. EZ handed out beers as they poured out of Templo, all looking at Letty in confusion. She seemed shy, playing with the food on her plate, so I reached out to squeeze her hand. She smiled gratefully.

Coco walked over to us, talking to Letty quietly and smiling at us sitting with her.

"My brothers," he called suddenly, catching everyone's attention before continuing, "Want you to meet Letty. She's my kid." I smiled widely at him, glad that he'd finally told everyone who she is. She looked shocked, but smiled as Riz headed straight over and introduced himself. I clocked EZ and Angel exchange glances across the room, as the rest of the guys began introducing themselves. I smiled to myself as I also spotted Bishop over in the corner, talking to Chucky. I could guess what they were talking about, and I was glad that Coco's name had been cleared.

"I didn't know you had another kid," Bishop said, walking over to Coco and Letty.

"Yeah, well, I fucked up things pretty bad with her," he explained, and Letty looked surprised at his confession. "I'm trying to fix that." I couldn't help but let out a cheer when Letty leant over and hugged Coco around the middle.

"Hey," Hank said, walking over. "Hang with your kid."

"Yeah?" Coco asked and Hank confirmed it was cool, leaning over to shake Letty's hand.

"Hey Prospect," Hank called, "You're with us. Reaper run." Ez locked eyes with me, looking torn, but knowing he had no choice. I tried really hard not to snort into my drink. Angel also exchanged a longing glance with me, which I turned away from, before he sighed and followed his brother out of the clubhouse.

"What do you wanna do today?" Coco asked, stealing a bit of Letty's toast from her plate.

"Um… exactly, I'm meant to be going to the mall with Izzy and Hope," she explained, looking torn. I shook my head.

"It's cool babe, stay with your dad, you can come with us next time," I told her, smiling. Now it was Coco's time to shake his head.

"You chicas need a patch with you. If you wanna go to the mall, I'll follow you all," he told us and we looked at him shocked.

"You're gonna come with us?" Letty asked and he nodded.

"You're my kid. Trying to make things right. Besides… it's good for you to have friends, Leticia," he replied, smiling at me which I returned. It was nice to have Coco's seal of approval, even if his best friend was being a complete twat at the moment.

Us three girls ended up having a great day together. Coco gave Letty some money and Izzy and I did a grand job of spending a large chunk of our remaining cash on clothes and manicures. It was nice to have some girl time, and Letty was great fun. It was also really cute to see Coco watching out for us, whilst still hanging back and giving her some space. When we stopped for a coffee, I grabbed one to go and took it out to the front of the mall, where Coco was leaning against his bike having a cigarette.

"Hey," I greeted and he looked up surprised. "Thought you'd like some coffee."

"Gracias," he replied, taking the cup. He took a sip, standing in silence for a few minutes. I knew he wasn't much of a talker but I didn't feel like my company wasn't welcome.

"So… you and Angel?" He asked hesitantly, and I rolled my eyes, frowning. "Or maybe not," he added, and I sighed.

"I met Adelita this morning," I spoke quietly.

"Ah," he nodded, "Let me guess, she didn't like you much."

"It's not about her not liking me, I don't give a shit about that," I snapped. "I've got more of a problem with how much she likes Angel." Coco widened his eyes, not saying anything. "It's clear there's something between them."

"I'm not one to get involved in other people's shit, Chica," he said. "But anyone with fucking eyes can see there's a lot more between you and Angel than there has ever been with him and Adelita." I scoffed, knowing he was just sticking up for his brother.

"Don't do that," he said, holding my wrist to prevent me from walking away. "I'm serious. Yeah, they used to flirt, not gonna deny that. But nothing happened, and anyone can see Angel is crazy for you. When you were unconscious, he was losing his shit. Ain't ever worried about Adelita like that." I huffed.

"Maybe that's because she's tougher than me. A strong girl that's fighting the bloody Gallindo cartel single-handedly, like some beautiful Mexican Joan of fucking Arc. Whereas I'm some weak girl from England who wouldn't know a cartel if it bit her on the nose," I lashed out, knowing I sounded pathetic but not being able to help myself.

"Keep your voice down," Coco hissed before chuckling. "There ain't nothing weak about you. You were willing to risk jail to help my kid, a girl you didn't even know. You've fought your own fucking battles in your own way before you came here, so don't sell yourself fucking short, Chica. And as for Adelita… let me tell you something about her. A few weeks ago, she stole a baby from his mother to make a point to Gallindo."

"What?" I asked, horrified.

"Ya," he confirmed, nodding. "Aint joking. Angel is many things… but even as much as he hates Gallindo, that crossed a line. She ruined any chances she had with him then. So even if you hadn't shown up, and turned his fucking world upside down, they still wouldn't be together. And Angel might be a Mayan, but he ain't no woman user. If you didn't mean shit to him, he never would've slept with you."

"How do you know about that?" I asked, blushing and he smirked.

"Walls aren't that thick, Cariño," he smirked, "whole club heard."

"Oh god," I covered my face with my hands, mortified. Coco laughed, taking another drag of his cigarette.

"Just talk to him," he advised. "You clearly like him, or you wouldn't be upset, right? Don't let her get in your way."

"Why are you giving me advice?" I asked, "Isn't Angel your best friend?" He nodded.

"Yah," he confirmed. "He's also a dumbass when it comes to women. Besides… you saved my kid. Figured I owed you one." I smiled at him, feeling much better.

"Okay. Thanks Coco," I said and he nodded, drinking his coffee.

"So, are you girls done yet? I'm fucking bored," he finally admitted and I laughed.

"I'll go and get them," I giggled. "We can head back now. I think I need to talk to Angel anyway."

"Thank fuck for that," he replied.

We arrived back at the clubhouse, where Letty jumped from the back of our car to the back of Coco's bike, who left to drop her home after making Izzy and I promise we wouldn't leave the lot.

Izzy and I spent the next hour unloading the car and hanging all of our new clothes up. We then went into the bar, grabbing a couple of beers from the fridge before deciding to play a game of pool. I missed Angel and, though I was still pissed he hadn't pushed Adelita away, I was also embarrassed at how I overreacted.

Izzy had just potted the wrong ball for the third time when we heard the familiar sounds of bikes pulling in. A couple of minutes later the door opened and in walked the guys, minus EZ. Oddly, they were all carrying their bed rolls, which they took straight into Templo, closing the door behind them. Izzy exchanged a glance with me and I shrugged. It was none of our business. Riz came out after a while, smiling at us. I quickly hopped behind the bar and grabbed him some beers, passing them over.

"Gracias, Hope," he thanked me and I smiled.

"Um… Riz?" I asked and he cocked his eyebrow. "Is EZ ok?" I asked quietly, not sure if the question would piss him off. He was saved from answering by the sound of Ez's bike pulling in. He grinned at me, taking the beers and heading back into Templo. I watched as the door opened, gasping when EZ walked in, covered in cuts and bruises.

"Jesus, what happened?" I exclaimed, running over to him. Even Izzy joined me, looking concerned.

"I'm fine, girls," he answered, "it's just a few scratches. Where's Bish?" He asked and I pointed towards Templo.

"Let me get you some ice," I said, running to collect some ice in a towel, holding it to his arm. He took it, nodding his thanks and then headed into Templo.

"This place is fucking crazy," Izzy summarised and I nodded. Yup. We both sat at a table quietly, neither of us in the mood to play pool anymore. Since we had arrived here, the days got crazier and crazier. I couldn't blame Izzy for wanting a bit of normalcy between her and Gilly.

It didn't take long for EZ to reappear, looking frustrated. He headed straight for the door and I followed him out into the yard.

"Are you ok?" I asked him quietly, as he threw the ice pack down on the ground. He nodded, but then we both got distracted by Chucky pulling in to the yard, a familiar face in the front seat.

"Is that Letty?" I asked, squinting and then swearing as I saw the damage to her face. I rushed to the door of the truck, opening it before gently helping her out of the seat. She was trembling, her face and neck covered in deep bruises and welts. She was holding her arm to her chest, which was also bleeding.

"I got you Letty, it's ok," I comforted her, pulling her to me.

"Oh my god," EZ spoke as he came up to us both.

"She just called me 20 minutes ago," Chucky rushed to explain, looking anxious.

"What happened?" EZ demanded, and I could see the anger in his jaw.

"Celia," Letty whimpered, "she almost killed me." Ez pulled Letty gently from my arms into his, holding her to him as the door opened and Coco walked into the yard.

We all looked at him, wondering what he was going to do. He froze when he saw his daughter, before rushing down to her.

"Your mom," EZ said quietly, and Coco's eyes went cold as he looked from Letty to EZ.

"Clean her up," he ordered to EZ, but I stepped next to Letty and she clung to me. Izzy walked over to us both and put her hand on Letty's back.

"We've got her Coco," I told him, "We'll take care of her." He nodded sharply before climbing on his bike and driving out of the lot. As soon as Coco was gone, Letty's strength crumbled and she let out a sob.

"It's ok sweetheart," I told her, holding her to me as we walked into the clubhouse. "We've got you." I exchanged a glance with Angel as we passed him, smiling at him to let him know we were ok and we would talk later. Izzy and I took Letty into my dorm, where we cleaned her wounds and held her as she cried.

"She was trying to sell me," she stuttered through her sobs. "Told me he's not gonna stick around so I needed to earn my keep." Izzy and I exchanged horrified glances, both of us fuming.

"What your mom said is fucking disgusting and wrong," I told her firmly, looking her in the eye. "Coco isn't going anywhere. He's your dad and he's just got you back. He's not gonna turn his back on you."

"But what if she's right?" she whispered, "All I've brought him is trouble."

"This is not your fault," Izzy said, hugging her close. "Every family is a bit messed up. No one's life is perfect. That doesn't mean for a second that your mom is right. She's a nasty bitch and, honestly, I hope Coco teaches her a god-damn lesson!"

"You don't know me," Letty whispered.

"Bitch, you're our friend," Izzy told her, "what she did is wrong. We've got your back and so does your dad." I nodded in agreement with her.

"You must think this place is crazy," Letty said, trying to laugh, but I could see she was in pain. I shook my head, sitting next to her.

"Mate, my mom only died a few weeks ago, my dad's in prison and I've never met him, and apparently I've got some mystery brother no one wants to tell me about," I told her. "Trust me, this place isn't so bad. The club has been good to us and they'll be good to you. They're your family. Now try and get some sleep." I pulled back the covers for her and she laid down, smiling when Izzy tucked her in gently.

"Thank you," she whispered, "I've never had friends before."

"Well, you do now," Izzy told her, grinning.

"Please don't leave me," she whispered, and I kissed her forehead.

"One of us will always be here," I told her, "now sleep sweetheart. You'll feel better when you wake up." She nodded and fell asleep, with me and Izzy watching over her.
