I started out clean but I'm jaded
Just phoning it in
Oh, just breaking the skin
Can you help me I'm bent
I'm so scared that I'll never
Get put back together
Keep breaking me in
And this is how we will end
With you and me bent
Start bending me, it's never enough
As I feel all your pieces
Start bending me, keep bending me
Oh, until I'm completely broken in
When Kenzie saw Caroline again, she didn't expect to see the blonde so perky as she grabbed Kenzie's hand with a big smile and yanked her out of her house.
"We're about to be seniors."
"I know." Kenzie replied. "But school doesn't start yet."
"Duh, but it's senior prank day and that includes you."
"Care." Kenzie said with a sigh. "I'm not really feeling it right now."
"Are you still upset about the whole Damon/Elena thing?" Caroline asked in a stage whisper. "Look, Elena told Bonnie and I think she feels bad but Damon won't be there, it's seniors only."
"If I say no, will you leave me alone?"
"No." Caroline replied with a big smile. "We're going to have fun and create memories whether you like it or not."
Kenzie set her mouth in a firm line. "Fine, let's go piss off some teachers."
"Yay." Caroline clapped her hands as she looped an arm through Kenzie's. "We have so much planned so there is definitely something for you to do, just tell me what teacher you want to prank. Also, I feel like I should tell you, it would never work between Damon and Elena anyways and he's really torn up about what happened. He tried to kill my dad then I kicked his ass and he killed Alaric and really, it's all because of you, I haven't seen him like this since he first moved here and was incapable of feelings."
"Did you breath, like, at all through that?" Kenzie asked, trying to keep the annoyance off her face.
"I'm just letting you know, as much as I totally hate him right now."
"Look, I'm coming with you, I'm going to have fun but on 2 conditions. No talking about Damon and for the love of god, keep me away from Elena right now."
"Deal." Caroline agreed as they reached the school. "In that case, head to the gym with Dana, I'll be in one of the classroom's with, well you know."
Kenzie nodded, waiting for the blonde vampire to walk away before heading in to the auditorium. She pulled out her phone and called Katherine, frowning when she was sent to voicemail after one ring. She tried again with the same result but received a text message later only a moment later.
With your boy, will explain later.
Kenzie's frown deepened as she typed out a message. Are you going to kill him? You promised you wouldn't. Why are you with him?
Don't worry Red, we're on a mission. Would've picked you up instead but you have ugh, school. Will call asap."
With a frown, Kenzie put her phone away and looked around with a small sigh, wondering if she could sneak home without Caroline tackling her and dragging her back by the hair. She contemplated doing just that when she heard Elena calling her name. She listened closer, realizing the brunette wasn't too far away but still far enough that a human couldn't hear. She still had time to hide when she heard Elena gasp and say Klaus' name before the hybrid commented on her being very well alive.
Kenzie groaned, knowing she wouldn't make it if he decided to kill her then and there but as she listened, the two began talking and Klaus mentioned the gym. She was far closer so she used her speed to get there first and warn everyone.
"Teacher is coming." Kenzie said, "Everyone leave."
The students scrambled out of the gym, only Dana and some other guy walking slower towards her. Dana had a big smile on her face and the other guy had a big flirtatious smile on his. She grabbed them, looking into each of their eyes.
"Leave and go home. Don't come out until tomorrow."
They left without a second glance and Kenzie watched as they left out the opposite door from where she knew Klaus was entering the gym, lifting an eyebrow when he saw the little redhead there.
"Last I saw, you were dead and supposed to become a vampire. I see the transition took, even if you did run away from my little ritual, I don't take to kindly to that."
"Kenzie." Elena cried. "You need to leave, now."
"Actually, why not stay for a while?" Klaus dropped Elena's arm and reappeared in front of Kenzie with a stake, forcing her to look into his eyes. "Take this stake and hold it above your heart until I tell you to stake yourself."
"No." Elena cried. "Please, just leave her alone."
Kenzie slowly reached out and took the stake from him, ignoring Elena's screams as she grabbed it with both hands and turned it, ramming it into Klaus' heart. She knew it wouldn't kill him but she just needed enough time for Elena to get away.
"Run." She yelled at the brunette as the original vampire doubled over.
Elena momentarily hesitated before turning and running as Kenzie kicked Klaus hard in the nuts to give Elena more time.
"You didn't turn me into a vampire, you dumb ass but that's for trying to turn me into one." She turned and ran the other way, not at all surprised to see Klaus had moved in front of her, looking angrier than she had ever seen anyone before.
"How?" He demanded to know.
She shook her head, refusing to answer and he grabbed her arm in a bruising grip just as Elena came back with Matt, Bonnie and Tyler who was being held by a blonde woman, who looked way too beautiful and way too perfect. If she wasn't a vampire, Kenzie would stake herself.
"I assume you're the reason Elena and this one are still walking around alive?" Klaus asked looking at Bonnie.
"That's right, if you want to blame someone, blame me." Bonnie replied, defiantly raising her chin.
"Oh, there's no need for blame, love. Just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects. And since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix."
"Who's Vampire Barbie?" Kenzie asked, causing Klaus to give her a rough shake.
"That, is my sister."
"Where's Elijah?" She asked.
"Having a nice long sleep." Klaus replied with a smirk.
"Too bad, he had pretty cheekbones."
"You talk far too much. Everyone, please meet my sister Rebekah, Word of warning... She can be quite mean."
"Don't be an ass." Rebekah said with a scowl. "And who's the little bitch you're holding?"
"Insurance." Klaus replied.
"I don't like her." Rebekah announced.
"You don't like anyone." Klaus reminded her as she threw Tyler at him. He let go of Kenzie to catch the werewolf.
"Leave them alone." Elena cried. "I'll do whatever you want, please, just let them go."
Kenzie couldn't help but roll her eyes at this, causing Rebekah to give her a funny look, one she couldn't quite decipher at the moment.
"I'm going to make this very simple." Klaus announced, ignoring Elena "Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible, actually."
He opened a vein on his wrist, shoving it into Tyler's mouth. The werewolf struggled against him but to no avail.
"I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And for Tyler's sake, you better hurry." He grabbed Tyler's head and Kenzie rushed him, knowing it was stupid as hell and she could give herself away but she had to try. She was only a few steps away so she didn't have to use her vampire speed but Klaus was ready for her as he quickly snapped Tyler's neck before he easily grabbed her pulling her back against his chest.
"Now, whatever shall I do with this little girl? You know, I don't take too kindly to people running away when I need them, just ask dear Katerina. Give me your ring." He demanded.
Kenzie lifted her hands to show she wasn't wearing it and although she couldn't see Klaus' smug smile, she could feel it as he grabbed her head.
"No, please." Elena begged him, thinking that without her ring, Kenzie was surely dead
"Brother, why don't we hold on to her a little longer?" Rebekah suggested, staring at Kenzie with curiousity.
"I thought you hated her."
"She might yet come in handy. You never know when we can use her."
"Fine." He relented. "But if she doesn't, I'm killing her."
Kenzie closed her eyes so nobody could see her rolling them.
It wasn't all that much longer when Kenzie was sitting in the gym with Elena and Klaus. Bonnie and Matt had left to figure out how to help Klaus and his hybrids and Rebekah had dragged Tyler out of the gym. Kenzie sat on the lower part of the bleachers, ignoring Elena's looks and telling Elena it was not the time to try and talk to her.
"Do I smell trouble?" Klaus asked, looking down at them from the top of the bleachers.
"As if you care?" Kenzie bit back.
"you're right, I don't. But seeing as we're stuck here while the little witch figures this out, how about we work it out?" The sarcasm was evident in his voice and Kenzie turned to glare at him.
"How about you go and get bent?" She replied in an overly sweet voice.
He moved down the steps to stand in front of her. "I can kill you right now."
"Then why haven't you?" She challenged him.
"Kenzie, don't." Elena pleaded with her.
"Leave them alone."
Everyone looked towards the newcomer, Elena letting out a small gasp at seeing Stefan there.
"Come to save your damsel, mate?" Klaus asked.
"I came to ask for your forgiveness. And pledge my loyalty." Stefan cautiously replied.
Kenzie sighed and pulled out her phone, not even caring about the conversation that was taking place as she texted Katherine.
Don't come back here, Klaus is back.
Stay away! He'll make you pay for what you did.
Too late. How is it they don't even know?
You're too good at playing human, kid. Sit tight, Damon's on his way back.
But he'll die!
So glad you're over him.
Kenzie didn't need Katherine present to know that last part was full of sarcasm and now she had to worry about Damon showing up here and getting himself killed. Not that she cared because she was so over him.
"You will do exactly as I say when I say it. You will not run, you will not hide, you will simply just obey."
Kenzie looked up to see Klaus had just released his hold from Stefan's neck, looking smug, and Elena was crying out to him.
"Now kill her. Ripper." He turned and motioned to Kenzie with a wave of his hand.
Veins appeared around Stefan's eyes as he vamped out and rushed Kenzie. She knew she could have moved but she stood still as he grabbed her and bit into her neck.
"No." Elena softly cried as he continued to drink from the tiny redhead before throwing her on the ground.
… … …
Kenzie laid quietly on the ground, pretending for all intents and purposes that she was dead or damn where near it. Rebekah had entered, wanting Elena's necklace that Katherine had stolen earlier and Kenzie was offended that Katherine hadn't stopped to see her. There had better be a damn good explanation when she finally explained later.
Right before Klaus and Rebekah had left, Klaus had turned on the scoreboard clock, announcing that Bonnie had 20 minutes to come up with a solution and if that didn't happen, Stefan was to feed on Elena.
Great, Kenzie knew she would have to stop that. Stefan was compelled but feeding from Elena would kill a piece of him, perhaps all of him. Ugh, when did she end up all nice and helpful? Seriously? But truth was, Stefan had been nothing but nice and helpful to her so she would do this, for him. Definitely not for Elena, that chick deserved to have a bite taken out of her.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket over and over again, the person repeatedly calling her. She felt Stefan above her as he pulled it out of her pocket, then Elena leaning over, checking for a pulse.
"She's still alive." Elena whispered. "I think I feel a faint pulse. We need to get her help."
"Not for long." Stefan told her. "I drank almost all her blood."
"Give her some." Elena begged. "Please, save her."
"I can't." Stefan told her. "it's too late. Who the hell is K1?"
Crap. Katherine was calling her, here's hoping Stefan didn't pick-
"Hello?"
Dammit.
"They hung up." Stefan announced. "We need to talk about what's going to happen, there's not much time left."
Kenzie tuned them out again, she couldn't stand their woe is me talk. She should really just get up now and try and get Stefan to fight it and if that didn't work, why not take him somewhere and lock him up. Sure he was a hell of a lot stronger than her but he was also totally conflicted and she could probably take him. So, out herself and tell everyone what had happened to her and what she had really been up to, or lie here and pretend to play dead and eventually show them all that she had her ring on a necklace for the time being.
Just as she decided to hell with it, it was time to knock Stefan out, secret be damned, the buzzer sounded.
"Stefan... I love you." Elena pleaded with him. "Fight, Stefan. Don't give up."
"I can't hold it." Stefan groaned and Kenzie opened her eyes to see him fighting with himself. He rushed Elena, the brunette teen letting out a scream as the vampire grabbed the bleachers and held on for dear life.
Kenzie sat up, getting ready to strike as Stefan yelled for Elena to run and finally the brunette took off into the hallway. Stefan followed after her, trying to grab onto everything he could in an attempt to hold off on killing the love of his life. Kenzie reached into her purse, gulping down a blood bag as fast as she could before following after him, letting him lead the way into the cafeteria and from there, she grabbed a broom handle from the nearby janitors cart, ramming it into Stefan from behind.
"It's for your own good." She told him, grabbing her phone off of him.
The door opened and she moved out of sight with her supernatural speed.
"Who was that?" Klaus demanded to know.
"Red hair." Stefan gasped. "Jill?"
She was okay with everyone thinking that she was her ancestor, but being two people at once was not that easy as she tied her hair up in a bun, removed her jacket and ran around the long way to the cafeteria before reentering again to see Klaus telling Stefan to turn off his humanity. Stefan refused, pushing the Original Vampire away who rushed him, pushing him up against the wall as he forced the younger vampire to look at him
"Turn it off." Klaus yelled.
Before their eyes, Stefan's whole demeanor changed and Kenzie realized he had done what Katherine had been begging her to do since the day the left Mystic Falls, turned off his humanity.
"What did you do?" Elena whispered in horror.
Klaus stared a moment longer at Stefan before turning to Elena, not noticing Kenzie standing in the shadows.
"I fixed him." He told her as he walked behind her, lifting her hair, "But I think a test is in order, no? Ripper, perhaps you'd like a drink from the doppelganger's neck, no?"
He walked out of the gym and Kenzie watched as Stefan's face began to change and he rushed Elena who let out a scream as she closed her eyes.
"Run." Kenzie yelled, using Jill's lower pitched voice as she rushed forward, spearing Stefan in the middle in an attempt to stop him from reaching Elena. The two tumbled to the ground and both were on their feet in an instant
"Let me guess, Jill?" Stefan asked with a sneer.
Kenzie didn't comment as she vamped out, taking a defensive stance against him. He rushed her, taking them both down to the ground and Kenzie used her flexibility, agility and tiny stature to continue rolling so she was on top. She grabbed both sides of his head, preparing to break his neck when he used his strength to send her flying behind him. She hit the wall and slid down it but quickly kicked up to her feet, running and jumping at Stefan who was trying to chase after Elena. She jumped onto his back, wrapping her arms around his neck and he grabbed her arms, easily flipping her over his head and smashing her into the ground. She grasped his arms as she hit the ground, yanking him down so he came tumbling after. She again maneuvered herself so she was on top and pulled back a fist to punch him in the face. Stefan grasped the nearest item he could find and when she was left wide open, thrust the item up, stabbing her in the stomach with the broom handle she had used on him earlier. Kenzie's eyes widened as she gasped and doubled over, grabbing the item and yanking it out, letting out a cry of pain. That was all the time Stefan needed to reach up and grab her head, effectively breaking her neck.
