Ch. 32
Raguna POV
Here we are the Starting City in Dungeon Crawler called Evenn (A/N: I meant for this to sound our like "Eh! Ben" but cou;nt figure huw to write it). After meeting with Uzuki; she, Cinnamon and I started our way to the nearest dungeon; a Cave located at about 5 minutes walk west-southwest from the southern city exit, that is as long as there are not Monsters in the way. Uzuki and Cinnamon kept talking through out the whole walk, I walked ahead to give them some privacy in case they wanted to talk about "Girls only" topics. every now and then I would stop and signal them that there were small mobs of monsters nearby blocking the path and we had to clear them out to move on. We reached the Cave about 15 minutes after leaving the city and we stood at the cave entrance and got our equipment ready.
"Alright everyone ready?" I asked to make sure we were all set to move on.
"Right." Cinnamon and Uzuki both said and then we started moving into the cave.
The few missions Cinnamon and I picked up, and Uzuki happened to not have finished yet, we all "Obliteration" type missions. One was to take out 3 small goblins and 3 green slimes. Another was to take down 6 mini-minotaurs. The last was to Pick up 5 "Tasty Goo" usually obtained from blue slimes.
"So what mission should we tackle first?" Uzuki said looking at the requirements of each of them again.
"The "Tasty Goo" mission might be the one to take us the longest so we should concentrate mainly on that one. The other two we can work on as we look for the blue slimes." Cinnamon reasoned with our missions.
"I guess you're right. Well then! Lets go!" Uzuki said and started marching in front of us.
Uzuki's speed was surprisingly fast for a march and so Cinnamon and I followed close behind in a bit of a speed walking manner. After a few minutes of walking many Small Goblins started appearing and surrounded us.
"Unavoidable fight and monsters needed for our quest. ready everyone?" I asked unsheathing my sword. 'I haven't tried to overlap the Items here...' I said to myself and tried it right before we started getting attacked. the Items just separated again. '...I guess I'm gonna have to wait a bit longer.'
The first group of goblins rushed in and tried to attack Cinnamon and Uzuki. Uzuki blocked with her Halberd and pushed them back getting Cinnamon to cast a mid or high level spell.
"Fire!" Cinnamon called and a stream of fire shot out from her staff.
Uzuki took the chance created from Cinnamon's fire attack to strike down some goblins. On my end, a couple goblins attacked me at the same time, if I had blocked one then I would get hit by the other so I decided to dodge the attacks instead of parrying or countering. Once the attack patter of both goblins ended they had to rest for a second before attacking again like when we use special skills. I attacked the Goblin to my left first by slashing diagonally upwards and pushing it back onto a wall of the dungeon. I kicked the floor and bolted towards the other Goblin to attack it, and it was ready to fight again. It clashed swords with me and it surprisingly had a pretty high leveled strength since it started pushing back.
"I won't let you beat me." I said while smirking and got out of the way as well as moved my sword away and it just fell to the ground. I took this chance and stabbed it into the ground where I guessed its weak point would be and it took downs its HP instantly.
The goblin I attacked first rushed me along with a couple others that were nearby and I used "Spin Vortex" to keep them at bay.
'this might be a little tough on my own...' I said to myself seeing as every goblin looked really angry.
"Come on Raguna, I'm sure you can handle them." Uzuki called
"Computer AI is different that real people. I can't use psychological warfare." I replied blocking attacks and dodging accordingly.
"Raguna." Cinnamon said and then a light covered me and an icon with an arm with a plus and another with a shield and a plus appeared in the middle of my vision and then moved to the top corner of my vision where my health was.
"Buff magic?" I asked
"just leveled and obtained them." Cinnamon said
"Thanks." I said and blocked one slash that was going directly to my chest and then goblin's weapon bounced as if I tried hitting it away.
I slashed at the Goblin and it's HP lower to about a third full.
'Wow, that was just a normal attack and it took it down that far. thanks Cinnamon, This'll be easy now.' I said and started attacking the three goblins.
I cleared the Goblins after a couple minutes of battle and then I turned to see Cinnamon and Uzuki, they were still dealing with four more goblins.
'I guess the game's AI can think on it's own and attack bigger groups with more people.' I said to myself
"You two want help?" I asked
"We'll be fine." Uzuki said skilfully dodging under the goblin's sword and then stabbing it's chest taking out the rest of it's HP and it burst into many particles of light.
"You can move on if you want." Cinnamon also said striking down at a goblin and then under her breath I heard the word 'Fireball' and fire burst through the tip of her staff burning and taking out the Goblin she struck down.
"Are you two sure?" I asked and just sat down and started looking through the quest log while they cleared their enemies. I had cleared Goblin part of the first quest. 'Now we'll need the green slimes, if we're lucky there might be Blue slimes along with them.' I said to myself and then just watched the girls take out the last two goblins.
Cinnamon and Uzuki were standing side to side holding their respective weapons in front of them and crossing the tips.
'They seem very Coordinated considering this is the first time they work together in battle...' I said admiring their team work.
one of the Goblins tried attacking the two of them and they caught its hand and snatched its sword, Cinnamon ran in and slid to trip the goblin and when she succeeded in that Uzuki crashed down on the Goblin stabbing her Halberd and taking its HP down completely. Cinnamon didn't end the attack there as she got up quickly and used Uzuki's crouching body as support and pounced at the last gobbling driving her staff into its gut and chanting the spell for "Earth Spikes" taking it out.
'Wow...' I said after they finished with wide eyes.
"That was fun." Uzuki said
"Part 1 quest 1, Complete." Cinnamon said with a smile on her face.
"Should we keep moving on then? We still need to find where that Minotaur is." I said and then three of us just opened our maps.
"Now, we came through there, and by the look the map the Boss room should be some where around here or here." Uzuki said pointing to different locations in the map. "So to move forward we have to go..."
"This way." Cinnamon said and pointed her staff to her right.
"You sure? I see light off in the distance, that could be the exit." I asked
"Positive." Cinnamon said and we started walking again.
We reached the source fo the light. the area was like a dome room of some sort. there were a few holes in the ceiling and light shined in through them. the light reflected off from a stream that passed right down the middle of the "room" and there was also a few lout boxes near the stream.
"Is pretty." Uzuki was the first to say.
"Raguna, we can take snap shots right?" Cinnamon asked
"Yeah."
"Can you take a picture and send it to me later?" she asked again
"Me too please." Uzuki also said and I got the Snap Shot item that in fact looked like a modern day camera.
"do you two want to be in the picture?" I asked
"No." Uzuki said
"Just take the picture of the scenery." Cinnamon also responded
I took the picture and then a message appeared in the middle of my vision [Save Picture to CPU hard drive? Yes. No.] I hit the yes and then the screen dissipated and another one appeared [Picture Saved]. We took a break and relaxed at the stream, the water was really clear, and even though we're in a game it had a really sweet taste to it.
"I wonder where this water comes from?" I asked
"I believe I saw a lake across the Mountain on the overworld map." Uzuki said
"Really? is it very far?" I asked
"I don't know, I still have a hard time reading the map in the game." Uzuki said with with an embarrassed smile on her face.
Cinnamon walked into the stream and bottled some of the water.
"What's the matter?" I asked
"This water has healing properties. some of my health replenished when I drank some earlier." she said and put the bottle in her inventory. "Do you two want some?" she asked
"Sure." we both said and we appeared our canteens and passed them to Cinnamon who filled them up and handed them back. after resting for about 10 minutes we moved on to look for the rest of the monsters.
"So what was with that stream?" Uzuki asked
"The Developers of the game probably put it there as a checkpoint for players in this cave." I said
"It sure is convenient." Cinnamon said and then she looked over at me. "Why do you only have one sword?"
"What do you mean?" I asked
"You got a second sword from the village elder in the village near the starting city." Cinnamon said
"True, why don't you have two swords like in the tournament?" Uzuki asked
"I tried what I did in the tournament, I guess since in the tournament it was a Beta overlapping Items allowed you to dual-wield them." I said
"So how are you going to use dual-wield?" Uzuki asked
"I can fight with just one sword. I'm better with two yes, but I can still fight back with only one." I said
"Maybe is a Class Change. I remember there are many RPG type games where you had to change class to get better weapons and fighting styles. Like turning from a Swordsman to a Magic Swordsman or a dual Swordsman." Cinnamon said.
"I sure hope so. with two swords I can do twice the damage on enemies." I said
The two girls laughed at my comment and soon enough we reached another hoard of Goblins.
"Really? Why goblins again?" I said and drew my sword again.
"It's really annoying, but things like this always happen in games." Uzuki said and also drew her halberd in front of herself.
"Let's clean this up quick and move on to look for the other Monsters." Cinnamon said and cast a spell on all of us. "Boost." she said and then the icons appeared on my vision again.
"Go!" I yelled and we rushed the group of Goblins.
A Goblin tried to slash me down the middle but i jumped over it and it missed its attack. as soon as I landed I stabbed behind me and took it down. Uzuki's halberd came from my side and it stabbed at second goblin that almost blind sided me. Uzuki spun her Halberd and took the Goblin down as well at took a big chunk of health of two nearby enemies.
"Uzuki Jump!" I yelled and as soon as she was out of the range of attack I used spin Vortex to take down the rest of the two goblins Health. "Cinnamon Aim fire at my Sword." I said and jumped
"Fire!" Cinnamon yelled and the fire stream shot at me.
"Flame Geyser!" I yelled as I spun Vertically creating a bit of a path and the fire Cinnamon Shot out followed and it hit the Goblin I had aimed along with the effect of my attack which took out the remaining Goblins. "That attack boost really worked."
the three of us kept walking and while we walked drank some health recovery potions to replenish some lost health during the previous battle. We came across a couple "Green Slimes" so we approached to take them out quickly.
"Try to surround them, "Green Slimes" can't be too tough since this is the beginning of the game." I said and jumped over the Slimes to get behind them.
"Right!" both girls said and positioned themselves blocking the path for the Slimes to escape.
Uzuki and I slashed at different slimes but to our surprise the slashes just kinda passed through them.
"Seriously?" I yelled
"Physical attacks don't affect them." Uzuki also yelled
"They do affect them. just not great damage since their bodies are liquid like." Cinnamon explained. "Fireball!" Cinnamon said appearing a fireball and shooting it at one of the slimes taking it out instantly.
"So Magic affects them huh?" I said
"Try Geyser." Uzuki said
"Might as well." I jumped and spun vertically activating the Skill. once the sword hit the slime didn't take any physical damage but the fire lowered it's health a little. "Better than nothing."
the remaining slime started moving weirdly and suddenly slithering noises came from all around us.
"I got a bad feeling about this." Uzuki said hugging herself obviously getting a chill down her spine.
Many Slimes started approaching us from deeper into the dungeon. among them I could see a few "Blue Slimes".
"Cinnamon, how quickly can you cast spells?" I asked getting in front of her to block any possible incoming attacks.
"I can cast a spell every five seconds, the best spell in this situation is probably "Triple Fireball". between that I have to "cool down" and then I can use them again." Cinnamon explained
"I see...You take care of the slimes, We'll buy you the time in between for the "cool down" effect." I said and Uzuki nodded a yes.
"Roger." Cinnamon said and backed off. to start casting spells.
Uzuki and I got in front of Cinnamon blocking the incoming attacking slimes. Some of the Slimes submerged into the grounds and the rest rushed right in.
"Are you ready Raguna?" Uzuki asked
"That's my question. You're technically the least battle experienced." I replied with a bit of a smirk.
"Whatever. Here they come." Uzuki said and we got ready for the first wave.
Cinnamon Shot the first set of Fireballs and she landed two of the three attacks.
"Uzuki Step back 5 feet." I yelled and rushed in.
"Why?" Uzuki asked and then she felt liquid under her feet so she jumped back. "Trying to sneak up aren't you?" Uzuki landed about 3 feet away and right on the spot she landed a pillar of water like liquid rose and trapped Uzuki, her Health points started lowering slowly.
"Uzuki!" I yelled and used Flame Geyser on teh Liquid-like trap. it split down the Middle and I dragged her out of it. "Told you to step back." I said and smiled at her.
"Yeah. thanks for the tip." she replied and then Cinnamon Shot the second round of Fireballs.
The three fireballs hit and took out three of the slimes. about 8 slimes remained and among them 2 "Blue Slimes"
"Cinnamon. next time aim the Fireballs at those two!" I yelled and she got the message. "Let's go Uzuki!"
Uzuki got up quickly and we both Rushed in to attack. The slimes attacked back, to our surprise, and they created spikes of sorts from their gooey bodies and shot them at us. Uzuki started spinning her Halberd and skillfully blocked the spikes.
"Sonic Thrust." Uzuki said and a beam like attack shot from he tip of her Halberd into the ground in front of the slimes. the ground broke and shot a few stones at the Slimes lightly lowering their Health.
"Three more seconds." I said and rushed the slimes to try and open a path for Cinnamon's attack.
I slashed at the slimes and they again started shooting Spikes at me. My health lowered into the danger area and then Cinnamon Shot the fireballs. the two Blue Slimes were taken out along with two Green Slimes, one out due to the third fireball and the other by my attacks. I backed away as quickly as I could, but due to my Health points being so low my Avatar's body couldn't move very quickly.
"Raguna, get down!" Uzuki yelled and I dropped into the ground. right after I dropped her Halberd shot two waves from it's blade and then a last beam at the middle making the beams look like an Arrow. the attack cut down most of the remaining health from three fo the four remaining Slimes and took out one of them.
"Last one!" Cinnamon said and shot the Fireballs again taking out the remaining three slimes.
"Are you ok?" Cinnamon asked pulling out a health Potion from her inventory an handing it over to me.
"Yeah, thanks." I said and then I looked at out quest. we finished the first quest and were almost done with the "Tasty Goo" Quest. "I thought there were only two Blue slimes there, we got four "Tasty Goo" for the quest." I said
the two girls checked their quest and they noticed what I meant.
"Maybe there is a multiple drop chance for the quest items." Cinnamon said
"That Makes the quest easier." Uzuki said
"Then that means there are also the chances of no drops." I added.
all three of us went quiet for a bit.
"What time is it?' Uzuki asked
"About..." I started looking for the time window. "...9:30 PM. 4:30 PM in RL."
"RL?" Uzuki asked
"Real Life." I said
"I see. Well is getting Late. How about we leave the Cave and turn the Mission in. We can finish the missions later." Uzuki said
"Ok." I replied
"I just found something." Cinnamon said and made the motion to close the Menu screen.
"What is it?" Uzuki and I asked in Unison.
"..." Cinnamon Murmured Something under her breath.
The three of us got engulfed in light and appeared in front of the Town Church.
"What was that?" I asked freaking out for a bit.
"New spell." Cinnamon simply said
"Wait, you leveled up again?" Uzuki asked
"No, I got two spells but didn't get to see this one." Cinnamon started. "Is a teleport Spell to 'Blank" City. I just need to say "Spell Level "Blank" Teleport to "Blank" City. This one can only be used so may times a month like revive stones." Cinnamon explained
"Revive Stones?" Uzuki asked
"You don't know of them?" I asked
"What are they anyway?" Uzuki asked
"If you "die" Mid-Dungeon you have 10 seconds to use a Revive Stone and come back to "Life" otherwise you go back to the starting city. We are limited to 5 Stones a month. once we run out of stones we can't use any until the next month." I explained
"That's right. This spell is also limited the same way." Cinnamon added.
"Convenient." Uzuki said and we all went to turn in the mission.
After turning the mission we logged out and soon after Uzuki went back home.
Jesús: "There we go. Sorry for the update delay. I was busy and didn;t have much time to type, as well as I wanted to update on Christmas so...Yeah...
