HELLLLOOOO, welcome to the next chapter. As we get closer to the holidays my writing might slow just a bit because of family coming over. I plan on posting one more chapter before the new year, IF I can. Also due to the overwhelming vote, this story is now Harry X Luna X Daphne. Yay.
Also to everyone who pointed out my mistake, thank you. It's not that I posted the wrong docs, its more I uploaded the wrong docs to the docs manager. Whoops. Shouldn't be a problem this time.
Mir19: Thank you for pointing that out, I went and fixed it.
To Everyone: Thanks for the love, enjoy this extra-long chapter.
For reference, most chapters are between 5500 to 6000 words. This is 8500 words.
I enjoyed writing this chapter

Dumbledore frowned in his office once again. It had been a month and a few weeks since the start of the term. Since Harry Potter had been attacked, everything had gone south ever since then. He stared at his pensive, going over everything, trying to figure out where it went wrong.
First was the young boy. Why was he so blasted tall? At only 11 he was already six feet tall, which was unheard outside of the Giants that resided in the mountains, and he was positive that James Potter wasn't related. Lily was a bit harder but he was almost certain she wasn't either. So why was he so bloody tall?
Next was his confidence. Outside of being very polite, he was also very confident, too confident. Not arrogant but confidant for the plans Dumbledore had been planning for over a decade. He wasn't supposed to be like this. He was supposed to be shy and wondrous of everything around him. Easily moldable to a weapon for the light. But that wasn't the case.
The next step was his station in the house of the Eagles. That threw him for a loop. He was damn certain he told Floppsy to put the boy in Gryffindor, and whenever he asked the hat a question he went tight-lipped. By not being with the Lion's, Dumbledore couldn't test the boy's bravery, or have him start accepting the charge forward mentality.
Though He was still being friendly towards young Ronald, so Molly Weasley should be happy about that, except he was no more friendly towards the young boy than he was to anyone else, even in his own house. That was another problem.
In the two month's Harry had been at Hogwarts, he had made no move to make any true friends. Outside of Miss Penelope Clearwater, one of the Ravenclaw Prefects, and Filius and Minerva, he kept everyone at arm's distance.
His latest issues came after the strange attack on the boy who lived. He was now able to use sedir, almost as proficiently as his own magic, if he had any left. He had suspected that the influx of sedir had completely swallowed the boy's own magic. This meant that any magic he used would undoubtedly be more powerful. Plus his eyes now held the ability of almost natural mage sight? Why? Who did this? What did they gain by making Harry stronger? It couldn't be Voldemort, no he would want Harry as weak as possible.
Then there was Harry's impenetrable mind defense. It had to be magically natural, or another side effect of whatever happened to the boy. Dumbledore prided himself on many things, his vast knowledge in many different branches of magic for example. But he was most proud of his abilities with Mind Magic. His Occulmency wasn't terrible but his true talent was in his ability to read others' minds.
No one had been able to stop him before, but Harry bloody Potter...whatever protected his mind was a force of Nature. And the Basilisk he saw was another cause for worry if the boy showed any evil intentions, but that hadn't happened yet. Then came his last problem with the boy.
He mailed a letter off to Gringotts for a little gold out of the Trust Vault given to Harry, Goblins were extremely lax with who enter a vault as long as you had the key. But they had sent a letter back, denying him entry, stating that Lord Potter had not allowed anyone into his vault, as they had yet to speak to him to give him his master key. And seeing as he was technically emancipated, Dumbledore was automatically relieved of the young boy's magical guardian.
How in Merlin's name was he able to claim the Potter Lordship? It shouldn't have been possible. He winced as he remembered the cold attitude Harry had shown him. After he had learned what Dumbledor tried to do in the infirmary, Harry had become tense and cold around him.
He could almost feel every plan he had ever made start to go down the drain as he tried to figure out where he went wrong so he could try and correct itself. There was still time, tomorrow was Halloween and Quirrell was certain to make a move on the stone. This could be a test for the boy...but how? Maybe a test on the Granger girl? Or Greengrass girl? Those were the two closest things Harry had as a friend….
(With Harry, charms)
"Alright Class. We've gone over the Levitation charm for over a week now. Watch closely. I will show you the wand motion and we will try to attempt to cast it. Now it is Wingardium Leviosa, and as you say it, you swish and flick. Copy me now, swish and flick." The tiny professor said waving his wand.
Harry Potter simply rolled his eyes. He had long ago mastered the spell. Unknown to most of the class Harry had started to train with Flitwick for the upcoming Under 16 Dueling Circuit. It was at an easter school called Dumstrang this year. According to his Head of House, he showed real promise.
Of course, it was kept a secret, even from the headmaster. Professor Flitwick rationalized that Hogwart's hadn't competed in the Circuit in over 20 years and everyone that did never made it past the second round. Harry was determined to make his teacher proud, so he too kept it a secret.
But that made classes like this, transfiguration, and for some reason, potions hard. Apparently, Filius had gotten McGonagall and Snape to help train him. Both had different reasons but they all pushed him hard to learn. Every free moment was spent studying or practicing. The competition was being held during the spring break so he had plenty of time. But as Snape said, "In a real fight, the enemy won't give you an extra day. If you are going to learn you will do so at the pace I set."
"Mister Potter?" Harry blinked and looked at the tiny professor in front of him. He had dozed off again. "Can you attempt the spell, or is something on that wall intriguing to you?" He said, sounding harsh but that was only because he couldn't play favorites in front of the students.
"Sorry Professor, ahem, Wingardium Leviosa" and with a flick of his wand the feather floated up. Flitwick smiled and nodded, '
'Five points to Ravenclaw. Please help your fellow classmates." He said and moved to the next student. Harry sighed and looked around the classroom. It seemed Granger had gotten the spell down, Finnigan had managed to somehow turn his spell into an explosive again, and...He smiled as he looked at Neville and the feather floating in front of him. Not a week after Harry had pointed out the mismatched wand, Agustas Longbottom had come to the school and taken him to get a new one. 9 ½ inches, with Red oak and Unicorn hairy. Good for charms and jinxes.
It was working wonders for the young Longbottom as his magical performance had shot through the roof, along with some of his confidence. "Good job Neville. It seems you're a natural as well" the young man blushed and squeaked out thanks.
"No Ronald, it's LeviosAH, not LeviOHsa. Like this", he overheard and turned to see Hermione. Swish her wand and feather float. The youngest Weasley turned a bright red and mumbled something under his breath. He saw Hermione frown but decided to not get involved. Besides, it looked like Ronald was being a bully again and he didn't feel like getting mad today.
A chime rang out signaling the change of classes, "Okay class, you're homework for the rest of the week is to practice this spell until you can lift your textbook. Harry, may I have a word?" Flitwick announced.
Harry frowned as he saw the class leave and noticed tears in Hermoine's eyes. He would check into that later. "Yes, professor?"
"I'll assume that classes are starting to get boring to you right?" The diminutive professor asked as he expected Harry nodded. "I expected so. I would go to Dumbledore but I really do want to surprise him with the Circuit. After this year I will see about having you try and take your OWLs. Hopefully by the summer or Christmas. Speaking of, have you got the fire whip down?"
Harry nodded as he pulled his wand out and stabbed it forward, a whip of fire coming out. With most of Harry's magic, it was a bit different than normal. Unlike the normal red-orange fire, his came out a strange mix of white and blue. "Good, you've got it down to nonverbal and one wand motion. Tomorrow we will begin studying the Shield Charm and stunners. Now get, I don't need McGonagall holding me up." he said with a dismissive wave.
Transfiguration was as boring but a bit less so because working his sedir for this branch of magic was a bit more difficult but in the end, nothing he couldn't accomplish. The only thing of note was that Hermione wasn't in class today, which in and of itself was extremely odd. He frowned for a moment and started to copy his notes, with a small amount of worry.
The next class was Potions. This one wasn't as easy as the rest, though not as difficult. According to Flitwick, Snape was a master of Potions and the Dark Arts. So, on his request, Snape also began to instruct Harry on dueling basics, potions, dark arts. For his own reasons Harry could comfortably say that Snape was the hardest of his three mentors. He accepted no excuse and nothing but perfection. A brutal but effective learning regime.
Today they were making a standard Skin-Knit potion. Once again he partnered up with Draco Malfoy. Harry had no true friends, he would admit that. People like Ronald Weasely and Theodore Nott tried to make friends with him, but they seemed forced. People like Draco, Daphne, and Hermione, were different. They didn't try to be his friend, they just worked with him in comfortable silence, which to Harry, was a friendship in its own right.
Draco nodded to him as he went to go grab supplies, Harry was setting up the cauldron today. He took note of the room and noticed that Pansy Parkison had a smug look on her face and that Daphne Greengrass was not present either. Just like Hermione, that was extremely unusual. 'Especially given that Daphne is an Heiress. Her family probably expects nothing but the best.'
He saw Tracey glancing at the door every so often, worry in hers evident as the sun. He added some Root Heir and gave Draco the scale. "I will be back Cousin." without looking back he got up and slid next to Tracey noting that her potion was not simmering yet. "You need four diced Root hairs, then your potion should be ready to simmer"
Tracey blinked, not paying attention to the giant boy who had just sat next to her, "Huh? Oh, thank you, Mister Potter. Can I help you?" she said, trying to keep a cool voice.
"If you wouldn't mind me asking, Is Miss Greengrass okay? It's unusual for her to miss class and you're clearly worried about something" Harry said, grabbing a knife and dicing one of her roots. Tracey blinked again but sighed.
"That obvious huh? I don't know exactly what happened, but Daph and Parkinson got into an argument. She said something and I saw Daph run off crying. That was after our Herbology class. I haven't seen her since" Tracey admitted. Harry nodded and frowned at the same time. He added another diced root and waved his wand at the potion.
"Let it simmer for 20 minutes and you should be ready to add the next ingredient," Harry said. He made his way back to Draco and their potion, it was ready for the Noll teeth, which his blonde partner was working on. He sat down and focused for a moment. Opening his eyes, he was in the forest, ontop of Jormungandr, he was napping next to Folnir.
"Ah, Harry shouldn't you be in class?" the older man asked with a snicker, Harry quirked his eyebrows at the man.
"Have you found out what Hugr magic connects my mind to Asgard?" Harry responded causing Folnir to frown, "Thought so. Oi. Jormungandr wake up I got a job for you"
The giant snake opened one electric yellow eye and focused on the youngest being in the area. ~what can I do for you speaker~
~Halloween has always been a bad day for me and I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Do you remember the scents of Hermione Granger and Daphne Greengrass? The ones I told you, you couldn't kill?~
~Of course, they are the ones that master has claimed as friends. I remember them. Do you wish for me to kill them now~ the snake hissed.
Harry shook his head at the old snake. ~No, they have hidden themselves away and I wish to find them before this day goes to the cow dung~
~When do you want me to start?~
when I leave the dungeons, shrink to a small size, and hide while you search. I've heard rumors that the castle paintings report to the headmaster. When you do find them, go into one of the greenhouses, I will fetch you~ Harry commanded. Jormungandr gave out a yawn as he nodded.
Harry closed his eyes and opened them to see Snape had started to check on potions. He looked over and saw that theirs was practically perfect, as always. "The potion looks good, Five points to you both," He said and moved on.
At the end of the class period, he walked into a small alcove in the wall, away from the eyes of the portraits. He rolled up his sleeve and saw the tattoo appear. It wound up from his wrist up to his shoulders. He concentrated, as Jormangundr taught him, and the tattoo became black smoke as a small green snake slithered on to the floor. With a nod, it was off.
Harry sighed again and caught up with his fellow Ravenclaws. It was time for lunch. To his surprise, he felt a tug on his sedir and felt his arm grow heavy. ~I was unaware that I could teleport to you. Must be something with your strange magic~ a voice hissed in his head. Harry glanced at his arm and saw a black tattoo disappear quickly.
~You found them?~ he hissed in his mind. The snake hissed again and Harry frowned. Hermione was on the second floors girls' bathroom and Daphne was in the one on the third floor. They were apparently upset.
"Oi, Harry. How'd you get the levitation spell so fast? I know you're a genius and all, but seriously, it's hard for the rest of us." Terry Boot said from his spot at the table. Harry shrugged his shoulders and went to say something when the doors flew open. All conversation went quiet as Professor Quirrel came running inside.
"TROLL. TROLL, IN THE DUNGEON. Thought you should know," He said before passing out. There was another moment of silence before the great hall went into a clamor of frightened screams and wandering thoughts. Dumbledore let off a cannon blast which got everyone's attention.
"QUIET! Prefects, please escort the students back to the common rooms. I wish for the Slytherins to stay in the Great Hall. If there is a troll loose in the dungeons then it will be unsafe for them. The staff will handle this." He said. The prefects immediately went to gather the students.
Harry started to follow his house when he cursed and remembered the girls. They wouldn't know. He bit his lip but nodded as he stepped away in the confusion and went up the stairs. He knew he would get in trouble.
Quickly making his way he stopped twisted and turned trying to get his bearings. He saw his destination and ran faster. "Hermione! Are you in here?" He asked as he entered the bathroom. He saw her, red puffy eyes and looking into the mirror.
"Harry? Why are you here? It's terribly rude to enter a woman's bathroom" she said in a quiet voice. Harry shook his head.
"There's a troll loose in the castle, everyone else is being sent to their common rooms. When you weren't in transfiguration and at lunch I knew something was wrong." Harry said, "Are you okay?"
"You could get in really big trouble for coming here you know, but thank you," She said "And Ronald was just being a prat. I let it get to me more than it should have."
"Don't worry I'll teach him a lesson later, come on. There's one more person we have to get." Harry said. At Hermione's questioned look he rolled his eyes. "Daphne Greengrass of Slytherin. She got into a fight with a fellow housemate and is on the third floor. Come on" The bushy hair girl nodded and the two ran out to the next floor.
That's when the trouble began.
As soon as they ascended the stairs, Harry was met with a terrible stench. He also noted that in his hurry his Raven Sight was on. He saw a small brown magic trial leading upwards and around the corner. Right where the girl's bathroom was. "Shit" and without thinking, he ran forward. Hermoine was confused but a rather startling feminine scream kick-started her into a run.
They ran around the corner and saw a 9-foot troll swing its club into the door, breaking it into many pieces. It reared back and growled loudly. Harry cursed again and threw a spell at the troll's head. It sneezed at the jinx and looked at the two again.
In the cafeteria, the staff was debating on the best way to handle the situation when a portrait came into its picture screaming "HEADMASTER! THE TROLL IS ON THE THIRD FLOOR. MISTER POTTER AND ANOTHER STUDENT ARE IN DANGER, I BELIEVE THERE TO ALSO BE A STUDENT IN THE BATHROOMS AS WELL" it screeched Filius growled as the rest of the staff paled.
"Snape, Minerva. Let's go. I have no idea what mister Potter is doing but he is in need of saving." he said and started to make his way out of the hall. Snape said nothing as he stood up and started to follow. Minerva held her breath for a moment but Dumbledore nodded and she quickly followed.
Back with Harry, the said boy was currently dodging the wild swing of an angry troll. Hermione had hidden, which he was grateful for. As rolled out of the wave, he swung his wand outwards, calling on the limited amount of seidr he could control. As he did, the walls expanded out words, encasing the legs and an arm of the troll in brick.
Seeing the troll incapacitated he ran into the bathroom quickly. Inside he saw Daphne cowering in the corner. "Daphne!" behind him Hermione ran in as well, before running over to the girl.
"Potter? Granger? There's a bloody troll outside, what are you doing here?" She whispered, fear evident in her voice. Harry went to say something when the troll burst into the room with an angry snarl. It raised its arm and swung downward.
Harry growled as well and in a swift motion, drew two runes in the air swished his wand while praying to Freyja his half-baked plan would work. He drew the symbols Algiz and Gebo. the two meant a few different things but they followed the same basic principle of magic, which was the intent it was cast with.
Algiz was a line with a V near the top. It meant protection and shield. Gebo was basically a large X, it meant exchange or sacrifice. Put the two together and Harry was hoping for a strong shield, though he didn't know what he would sacrifice, he just knew he would need something to power the shield. And if his mother was an example, then sacrifice empowered magic. He just hoped it wouldn't take his life.
As soon as his Sedir hit the magic of the two runes the Trolls club came swinging down as well and connected with something that wasn't his intended meal. A green shield stood between the club and the three young students, coming from the tip of Harry's wand. The troll grunted in confusion as it swung up again and brought the club down.
This time it bounced off the walls of the shield that the young boy had produced. It growled and raised it's club one more time. Harry gritted his teeth as his vision started to become blurry. He gasped as the floor started to rise and before the lights went out he saw Filius bust into the bathroom with Snape.
The three Professors had all been running, especially when they heard the growls and roars of the beast. They entered the bathroom in time to see the troll hit a green shield and Harry collapsing on the floor, his shield shattering with him. The troll grinned as a troll could and went to raise its club again. Only for the three professors to let loose a volley of spells. In an instant, the troll froze before falling over.
Seeing the danger pass Minerva ran to the huddled students. "Dear Merlin, what are you three doing here?" She asked, casting her wands over the three. "Filius, please go get Poppy and Dumbledore, Snape, keep your wand on that beast. Harry is in bad shape, whatever spell he used to protect them nearly drained him of everything."
Filius nodded and stepped out of the bathroom. Snape said nothing as he trained his wand on the downed troll. "Harry came to get us. We weren't in the hall when the troll was announced. So he came to get us. He found me first, then said Daphne was here and we should get her as well. We found out the troll was here quick enough. Harry started to shoot spells and somehow managed to trap the troll for a minute. We ran in to find Miss Greengrass and the troll freed itself." Hermione started to ramble.
"Harry drew something in the air and then he produced a green shield that was very effective in blocking the troll's swings. Then you all appeared. I take it the shield he used was enough to knock him out." Daphne said, still trembling slightly but trying to hold herself up.
"I sent a Patronus to them. Did you say green shield? That's unheard of. A normal protego is blue and translucent. And the Aegis Shield charm is too powerful for him to cast. He's a bit young to be a spell weaver. How mysterious." Filius said. "10 points to you both for trying to save a student. "15 points from you both for not telling the staff. Are you all right Miss Greengrass?"
Daphne nodded and winced when she stood up. "Some of the debris hit me. I was exiting the bathroom when the troll came around. His first swing took a chunk out of the wall and the brick hit my knee." she admitted.
"Pomfrey will look over you. In the meantime, what do we do about this troll? It is still alive." Snape drawled. "I don't suppose you can transfigure it into a mouse or something more easily containable, can you Minerva?" Sadly she shook her head.
"No. troll hide is very resistant to transfiguration magic. The magic wouldn't hold. However, we could shrink him throw him back into the woods. We would have to be quick about it but it should be possible." She said. Not a moment later, Dumbledore walked into the bathroom, followed by the aged medi witch.
"Explanation in the infirmary please, Mister Potter is severely low on magic and Miss Greengrass is injured," Filius said. Dumbledore frowned but nodded. With a snap of his fingers, Fawkes flashed into the room and landed on Dumbledors shoulder.
"Miss Greengrass, have you ever moved through Phoenix flames? I didn't think so. Please hold onto my robe, you and Miss Granger both, please. It is perfectly safe I assure you. Fawkes, group travel please" Dumbeldore said calmly. Everyone grabbed onto Dumbledore and the phoenix trilled before they went up in flames. They reappeared in the infirmary just as quickly. To Hermione and Daphe it felt like the floor beneath their feet disappeared for a moment before the air went hot, and then they were on solid ground again.
"To a bed with the both of you, I will look over mister Potter first," Pomfrey said before the levitated young boy was slowly dropped on a bed. Dumbledore nodded as he approached the two young girls.
"So, indulge an old man. What happened?" He asked.
(With Harry)
Folnir sat by the fire, a crow on his staff. To any looking, it would look like the two were having a staring match. But to those who knew, knew that the crow was either Huginn or Muninn and only he knew. The forest was quiet, or it was until a young boy started to groan as he opened his eyes.
"Thank you my friend keep looking, I need to entertain our guest. Hello Harry, back again it seems. Want the good news, the bad news, or the even worse news?" Folnir said with a smile.
Harry groaned as he sat up, "Ugh, my head feels like the underside of whatever floor Dudley decided to stand on. Why am I here?"
Folnir put a hand under his chin in fake thought, "May have something to do with the fact that you warped the reality of magic to protect yourself and your friends, and Mother Nature did not like it" he said, cheer in his voice. Harry groaned again and flipped the older man the bird.
"What do you mean I warped the reality of magic? Shouldn't that be impossible?" Harry asked
"In most cases. But most people don't have access to Sedir. And let me be the first to say what you did was incredibly dangerous. To draw a rune cluster in the air, without something to ground it with, on top of the fact you only used the two base runes. By all accounts, it should have failed. But the seidr powered it, and your Will fed it. But you didn't have enough Seidr to power your shield, so when you ran out you called upon the seidr in from the castle. Which overcharged your own magic and pushed the limits of your body."
"So my Will and Seidr warped magic to do my bidding. I understand that. So what's the damage?" Harry asked. "And why didn't you assist me Jormungandr?"
The giant snake opened one eye, ~It was a simple troll. As my master, you should have been more than enough to handle it. So I took a nap~
Harry grumbled something. "The damage is rough but you should survive. Your right arm, where you were channeling the massive amount of seidr, was burned by all of it. So it'll sting but you'll recover."
"Okay, so what's the good news," the young boy asked.
"That was the good news. You'll live. The bad news, the amount of seidr you were channeling has caused a few more changes. On your back is our oath, in the form of an ancient tattoo. And your left eye can no longer be hidden anymore. I suspect the tattoo that hides your snake friend can no longer be hidden either. But it connects to the one on your back so maybe you will be okay." Folnir said. Harry sighed but nodded. He could live with it
"And the even worse news?" this caused Folnir to chuckle.
"You will find out in time. Now we wait for your body to heal and your mind to recover. Which could take a while. In the meant time, I think the magic of the castle has revealed something to you" Folnir said. Harry frowned again as he felt the small ping of his seidr, pulling him into the fog that covered the forest.
"Another vision" He muttered. He stood up and walked, letting the old magic guide him. It wasn't long before he was in another clearing, Four wizards stood there talking to each other.
The first one was a tall man, just as tall as Harry was. He had fiery red hair and wore a red cloak. On his belt was a long silver sword. He seemed to be in debate with a man he recognized. He was smaller than the red-haired man, but not by much. He had silver hair and startling green eyes. On his neck was a small snake. Beside them were two witches.
The older one, and probably the older looking one in the field, wore a blue cloak. She had black hair and her blue eyes held a lost look in them like she was staring a million miles away. In her hand was a large brown staff with a sapphire in the center of it. She also wore a silver diadem in her hair. Next to her was a plump woman in a yellow cloak. She had brown hair and a warm smile. In her hand was a small golden chalice.
"I'm telling you, Sal, opening Hogwarts to the public will be in the best interest of everyone." the redhead said. The silver hair man sighed.
"And once again you missed my point entirely Godric. I didn't say we shouldn't open the school to everyone. I said we should keep the location of Hogwarts a secret to the nonmagical. If the King finds Hogwarts he will burn it to the ground. Rowena, you've worked in his court before, you should know." he said.
The black-haired woman nodded. "Yes, he has already forced the Wise man Merlin to hide away because of his Christian views. He has no tolerance for anything magical."
"You see? If we reveal Hogwarts, our greatest achievement, then he will surely destroy it before he destroys us. Strong we may be, we can not fight an army by ourselves." Sal said.
"Salazar is right Godric," The plump woman said.
"Not you too Helga. Maybe we can convince him. Or Sal, you're good with the mind. Maybe you can bewitch him to be lenient? If we could open to the entire Isle then we could prosper. And with a king by our side, we would be unstoppable." he mentioned. Rowena rolled her eyes.
"Except he cannot be charmed. Merlin made a pendant for King Author, to keep his mind from being bewitched. King Aethelred now wears it. Nothing short of replacing him as King of Northumbria will work." She mentioned.
"Salazar didn't your young woman friend, the Norse woman, say something about a clan coming to England?" Godric asked the Slytherin founder frowned.
"She said that Olaf Tryvaggson and his clan were making their way. Why?"
"Because maybe she can bewitch him to attack the king, overthrow him, and then we can use him. They aren't too close are they?" Godric asked.
"As far she told me? I don't believe so. There is no love between Clan Evangeline and Clan Tryggvanson but there is no hatred either." He pointed out. Godric smiled and started to walk off.
"Good, then let's start planning, we have work to do"
Harry watched all of this and frowned. Their attitudes were completely different than what most historians agreed on. Maybe his ancestor kept his dairies in the Chamber of Secrets, or his Gringotts vault.
The area filled with fog for a moment before clearing again, this time revealing Salazar with an older woman. She had blood-red hair and brighter green eyes than even Slytherin himself had. She also looked exactly liked Lily Potter, to a frightening degree. "I don't like this Sal, my clan is small and Tryvaggson is a war-hardened clan, no doubt they've come to aid The Great Heathen Army. Ubta Ragnarsson has called for more allies from Norway. The saga Ubba and Ivarr are legendary over there."
Salazar sighed. "I am aware of that. But without the support of a king who will keep our existence hidden, we are in great danger. My companion stalks the grounds to protect us, but the other three think he is a threat. We need help, Liilithem. Your clan is our hope to survive."
The now named Lilithem sighed and grabbed his hands. "You foolish wizard. It's not just our survival, it is also the little ones' chance for survival. The Saxons are not kind to us either. The help of the Raven Clan has brought peace for many, but not for all of us. By the Bifrost, do not let yourself be killed in a useless war. Promise me you will run"
Salazar smiled at her kindness. "I thought the Norse way was to die in battle, with honor. Not running" Lilithem scowled.
"Dying with honor will lead to the hall of corpses. But there is no honor in a useless war. Your daughter will need you" she said softly. Harry gasped. History never recorded any descendants of any of the Founding Four, but to hear it was something else.
"My precious flower misses me, I know. Does your clan know?" he asked.
"No. I have told my clan that her father was slain in our battle to make a home here. But little Slythia misses her father. Not even three years old and she demands to avenge him. A little drengr I have." She said with a smile.
"I promise, should the castle go to war I will escape to your clan. If only for our little drengr." Sal said. The area filled with fog again before it disappeared, leaving an empty filled.
"The gift of sight blesses you as well? No wonder my husband allows your residence in the forest." Harry heard from beside him. He jumped a little and turned around in a defensive posture. Beside him was a beautiful woman, in a long dress and a crown of flowers on her head. "I can also feel a great amount of seidr in you. I knew I made the right choice when Lilithem asked for my blessings."
Harry blinked a few times as his head processed everything, "...Freyja?"
The lady smiled and nodded, and waved her hand, causing the forest to fill with fog. After a moment it left, this time leaving a fireplace full of red-headed Norse men and woman. Harry saw Lilithem again, a bit older if he had to guess. Beside her was a young girl wearing some kind of fur and leather armor. She was holding a dagger in one hand and a group of bunnies in the other.
"Look, mother, Skolven Jarl taught me how to hunt. I have caught five rabbits so we may feast tonight" she said proudly. Lilithem smiled and ruffled the girl's hair.
"Good job my proud drengr. We will have you hunting bears soon at this rate. Even sooner if you take to the lessons of the magi." the older woman said causing the young girl to start bouncing in excitement.
"You mean I am blessed with the same seidr as you and Skolven Jarl? I am ready" Slythia said with a determined looked. This caused the older woman to laugh.
"Then we will prepare these rabbits as an offering to Freyja, so that you may receive her blessings. Come, we will talk to the jarl," she said. As they stood up they froze in place.
Freyja walked up to the frozen illusions. "Truly, allowing them to receive my blessings was one of my better ideas. And now their descendent, almost 2000 years later, walk-in Asgard under mysterious circumstances."
"Folnir said the rest of the Aesir were told to stay away from the forest," Harry said, still on guard. Freya laughed and looked at the little girl.
"I am only Aesir through marriage. My blood is of the Vanir child. My husband's power over me is weak at best. Should he strike me down, he will reignite the war with my people. So I will take advantage of that fact to learn more about the mortal who walks in my home." she said. Harry nodded and joined her to look at his ancestors.
"Folnir said that I would be blessed with sight given my heritage. But I have only seen two visions now and nothing else." Harry stated.
"That is because your mind was shackled. I can still feel the tethers try to reattach. But your latest actions with seidr have broken them. I have no doubt you will begin to see much before it settles down. And don't discredit those other two visions. Many seers will go their entire life with only seeing one vision themselves, and deciphering the visions of others for the rest of their time. That you have seen two with so little time means my husband has found quite a gem." Freyja said before she waved her hand, allowing the illusion to fade away. "Now, it is time for you to go. I can feel you slipping from this realm. You have my interest, and maybe in time my blessings."
Before Harry could say anything he faded away as well. Folnir walked out of the forest as he did. "I knew it was only a matter of time before he was found out."
"Of course it was. You foolish Aesir. You tell us to stay away from the forest, where you have been spending all your time, and not expect us to investigate? Tyr is worried, as was I. Now I must ask, is it smart to allow him access? If our enemies discover him, they could make use of their Hugr magic and use him as a gateway." Freyja asked.
"I do not know. As of right now, I am trying to figure out what Hugr allows him access to Asgard. If I can learn how I may be able to prevent it from happening again."
"Do not try to trick me, husband. The Aesir are warriors, not tricksters. You allow him to stay so he may serve you as a seer. That much is obvious." Freyja snapped. Folnir raised his hands in a defeated manner and chuckled.
"I am fighting my so-called destined fate. None of my seers can see past the end. It is my hope that he will be able to. But he must be willing to serve. I cannot allow him to come into the halls of Asgard untrustworthy. So I will watch his life, and judge him." He admitted.
"And how does he fair so far?" The Vanir Goddess asked.
"He is no warrior, but he has a courageous spirit, I assume you saw the event that led him here?"
"I did, he is unaware the fog around the forest reveals his memory? From what I have seen he will not be happy when he learns." Freyja pointed out. Folnir shrugged his shoulders.
"Eh, it's not a fact I am hiding, it is simply one I don't bring up. He will realize sooner or later the fog shows visions of the past" The two sat in silence for a moment.
"Come, it is time for the rest of us to learn. If you do not then he may be in danger. Especially if Thor decides he wants to explore around here." Freyja said. The one-eyed Aesir nodded and the two began the track to the hall of Asgard.
(With Harry)
The first thing Harry realized was that his entire body hurt. Every muscle was on fire and his head felt no better. He could hear voices in the background but they were all quiet and hushed. He groaned and tried to open his eyes, only to be assaulted by brightness.
He hissed and tried to open them more slowly, allowing the blurry world to come into focus. He noticed that Pomfrey was helping an older student and that the sun was not out. The older student pointed at something and the healer bustled over to him. "Mister Potter, I thought we agreed you wouldn't follow in your father's footsteps the last time you were in here."
"I would agree with you madam Pomfrey, but trouble seems to follow me. So what's the damage?" Harry asked.
"Besides the severe magical exhaustion not much. Your right arm was magically burned with how much magic you were pushing through your wand. Speaking of…" She slowly held out something to him. Harry frowned as he recognized his wand, now almost in two as there was a hole that split the wand. "Filius has already set an open appointment to get you a new wand when you were well enough to travel. I must know what spell you used that did this. Most wands are built so this doesn't happen, but that is neither here nor there. Outside of your wand and your arm, nothing is else is wrong. I am sure Dumbledore will want to speak with you, but you need to heal first. How are you feeling?"
"I feel like I got ran over by lorry a dozen times and then shot in the head. Everything hurts" He admitted.
"To be expected. Albus theorized you used enough magic to power all the wards around the castle. Which is to say a lot more than you should have been capable of doing. Try not to do this again Mister Potter. Your body survived this time, but another attempt could result in SMBS" She said taking a note.
"SMBS? I am unfamiliar with that term."
"Severe Magic Backlash Syndrome. It's a rare occurrence, as you need an extremely large magical power. It basically describes the event where the magical focus is too weak to handle the amount of magic being used through it, which will cause said focus to burn up and destroyed from the inside out. Your wand took the brunt of most of the damage, as it broke it started to burn your right arm." Pomfrey said. "So you rest up, I will call for Filius and Dumbledore."
Harry nodded and laid back down, thinking about what had happened. Folnir had been right about one thing. Using an incomplete rune circle was foolish. The Sacrificial Shield, as he was gonna call it, started with his magic. It would probably move onto his blood next if he ran out of seidr. Looks like runes would be next on his list of things that needed to be studied.
It didn't take long for both adults to enter the infirmary. Filius walked over to Harry with a smile on his face and promptly whacked him on the head with a newspaper rolled up. "Didn't Minerva and I tell you specifically not to be like your parents? Twice in a three month period, you have been hurt and brought here, You should be dead by rights, and only by the will of Merlin and Morgana are you still alive." he started berating the much larger teen.
"Calm yourself Filius. He is still recovering and we do not wish to draw the ire of Poppy by disturbing him. Harry, my boy, how are you?" Dumbledore asked.
"Everything hurts." was all he said. Dumbledore nodded sagely.
"I hope you do not mind but Miss Greengrass and Miss Granger were kind enough to let us watch the memory of the event from a few weeks ago" he started only for Harry to interrupt him.
"Wait, a few weeks ago? How long have I been out?" Harry asked.
"You've been out for two weeks mister Potter. Magical exhaustion can do that to a wizard." Filius informed him, stumping Harry.
"Moving on, their memory did not see what you did as you shielded them. Would you be kind enough to tell us what happened on your end?" Dumbledore asked.
"Miss Granger and Miss Greengrass both got into arguments and ran away in tears. They weren't at lunch when we were being escorted back to our dorms. I knew Hermoine favored the second-floor bathrooms and overheard a few Slytherins say Miss Greengrass ran to the third floor. So I went to get them. I didn't think the troll would have made its way up from the dungeon yet. When I got to Miss Granger I had a bad feeling. So we ran to the third floor and well we heard her scream. I rushed over and started to try and distract the troll but a lot of my spells didn't faze it. I tried to will my Seidr to hold the troll in place and the Castle responded and encased it with stone walls. We ran into the bathroom and the troll got free a lot faster than I expected"
"They aren't smart but they make up for that in raw strength." Filius put in. "Fighting it with spells usually don't work so a lot of hunters use potions."
"Well, I didn't have any of that. The troll came into the bathroom fast. Faster than I could think of a spell to use. But I had been studying the basics of ancient runes. I drew Gebo and Algiz in the air and drew an incomplete rune circle to activate them." Harry continued. Dumbledore got a look of realization.
"Using the power Gebo to increase the power of Algiz is the most common use of ancient runes. it is the basic core for many advanced protection circles. What you were missing was a control component. Something to control the flow of magic Gebo takes to empower Algiz. Because you did not have that, it tapped directly into your magic core. But that alone should have killed you, as it would have taken your entire core instant." Dumbledore said with a frown.
"Could the fact I use seidr have anything to do with it?" Harry offered. The older wizard stroked his beard for a moment in thought. Out of his large knowledge of magic, seidr was one of his shortest branches. It was not something to learn if you could not harness it, which he was unable to.
"Maybe, I will talk to Professor Babbling, she is the Runes Professor. She is considered a genius with Runes, hired right out of Hogwarts I believe. She may know a bit more. Until then I recommend resting. As soon as you are good enough to leave the infirmary, Filius will take you to Diagon Alley to get a new wand." Dumbledore said. "One last matter, I don't suppose you know anything about the strange rune tattoo on your back or your arm?"
Harry blinked a couple of times. "Sir?" He looked down and saw the tattoo on his arm. Outside of the snake that represented Jormungandr, he saw two dragons also twisting down his arm, making a nice triple spiral. Dumbledore sighed.
"I figured not. Filius, if harry is capable have him learn the glamour charm, or get with an enchanter to hide the tattoos. It would not do well if Harry is seen with them. Good day," He said and made to leave. Filius sighed as well and moved up to sit beside him.
"I hope this does not become a habit, Mister Potter. Rumors are already starting to fly through the castle and into the public." He said as he handed Harry a copy of the Daily Prophet.
Boy-Who-Lived, Troll Slayer?
Written by Corey Hughes,
All right readers listen up. Everyone knows about the Boy-Who-Lived and the incident 11 years ago. Everyone also knows about the young lad being in Diagon Alley to get his school supplies. Yup, that's right, if you missed the last edition, Harry Potter is now attending Hogwarts.
It has come to the attention of this reporter that Harry Potter was sorted into Ravenclaw, and is known through the castle as being studious and polite. The current thought is that he is the brightest in his class.
This is why it comes as a shock that midday on Halloween, a troll was sighted in the castle. The immediate action was the student body, outside of the Slytherins, were escorted to their common rooms. For those wondering, Slytherin was kept in the Great Hall because the troll was sighted in the dungeons.
But that wasn't the case. Harry Potter, for whatever reason, ran to the third-floor bathrooms, where is had been told to me, he battled the troll, Astonishing. A first Year, going toe to toe with a troll?!
What's even more astounding, is that it was reported that the troll was being levitated out of the castle, unmoving. But not without injury, it has also been told to me by my reliable source, the Boy-Who-Lived was injured and is recovering in the Infirmary.
This raIsed many questions. How did a troll get loos in the castle? How did Mister Potter slip away from everyone to fight the troll? How did he kill it? We may never get the answers to these questions, as Head Master Dumbledore has refused to be questioned about it. All he said was,
"The situation is under control and Mister Potter is fine."
Hmm, a bit suspicious if you ask me. So I have enlisted my trusted contact in the castle to get more information. And it will be made public as soon as I learn
The rest of the article was speculation about how Harry supposedly could have killed the troll. Harry groaned at reading it, causing Flitwick to smile. He hated Halloween.
