If someone were to glance inside the Hospital Wing at that precise moment, they would see one Severus Snape sitting on a hard, uncomfortable chair holding a vigil at the bedside of The-Girl-Who-Lived. She looked a sight; her black hair clashed horribly with the snow-white pillow, the pale sheets swallowed her small form, and her body's unnatural stillness was corpselike.
Severus had felt on the verge of heart failure multiple times because of this foolish Gryffindor, did she not value her life at all? He had worked tirelessly to keep her safe and yet, here they were. As he looked at her in the moonlight, something told him, despite his efforts, there would be many visits like this moving forward over the years. The premonition filled him with dread.
"Oh, Holly," he whispered into the silence, "what am I going to do with you?"
The silence continued

Suddenly, Poppy's office door opened, startling Severus out of his reverie.

"Poppy? What are you doing here?"

"Getting you to rest, seeing as you couldn't do that without force."

Severus groaned to himself, he should've known she would pester him about it if he didn't do what she asked of him, but the small girl who was currently sleeping in one of these pristine white beds was more important to him than blasted rest.

"To bed with you, Severus." Said Poppy as she guided him towards one of the pristine beds.

"But Holly-"

"Would want to see a healthy and well-rested father waiting for her when she wakes." Completed Poppy. Severus glowered angrily at her as she handed him a vile of sleeping potion.

"Now drink that." She said. Severus didn't comply.

"Severus, I have no qualms about forcing this down your throat. Severus glowered for a long while before tipping the contents of the glass vile down his throte.
