It was the best Christmas Rachel ever had since her mom died. She spent the whole day with Richard's family. Christmas presents were open, songs were sang, and everything was perfect. Bruce gave Diana a beautiful pearl necklace and Diana gave Bruce a Rolex watch. Bruce and Diana gave Richard and Rachel tickets to a professional basketball game, it would be the perfect date. Then lastly Richard gave his gift to Rachel.
"You know I didn't want anything, I cant give you anything back." Rachel said.
"You being here with me and happy is the best gift of all." Richard said pushing the wrapped box toward Rachel more. Rachel gave in and took the box and unwrapped it. She gasped at the sight of a silver ring. Richard reached for Rachel's hand and put the ring on her finger. "Its a promise ring. Promise me you wont let your father hurt you anymore, that if he tires anything you will get out of there." Rachel was still speechless.
"I don't know what to say." Rachel said.
"How about an, I promise." Richard said and before Rachel could answer the happiness and joy that was in the mansion was soon crushed my a knock of the door. Alfred went to answer the door.
"Excuse me sir were looking for a girl, Rachel Roth is she here." Everyone froze and turned to the door.
"I'm Rachel Roth." Rachel stood up from the warm fire and left Richard. Both of them were confused and worried.
"Your father has reported a missing person report on you. You have to come with us."
"What?" Rachel gasped as one of the police officers took her arm and led her to the car.
"Hey let go of her. You cant do that." Richard said going after Rachel, but Bruce put a hand out to stop him.
"Let them do their job." Bruce said, and with that everyone watched Rachel drive away in the back of a police car taking her back to her abusive home on Christmas.
When Rachel enters her house she is greeted by her dad who was sober.
"Rachel, I've been so worried about you, never run off like that again. Thank you officers so much for returning my daughter." The whole time Trigon spoke Rachel knew he was lying he only wanted Rachel back so he could have his punching bag back. Rachel turned to the police watching them leave and Trigon closed the door. When the door fully shut Rachel closed her eyes readying herself for the pain he was about to inflict on her. All she felt was a hard sting.
"Don't you dare ever run away like that again!" Trigon yelled and punched Rachel in the stomach. "Where did you go?" Trigon pushed Rachel hard again the wall. "Answer me!" He threw hard onto the cold tile floor. "Answer me right now!" And that's when Trigon unleashed no stop punches from her face to her stomach to her legs.
"I was at Richard's." Rachel finally choked out, breathing heavily going in and out of consciousness.
"You are to break up with him you hear me." Trigon said lifting Rachel up from the ground my her long hair giving one last hard punch to her eye. "Or there will be more where that came from." Trigon said dropping Rachel to the floor and stepping over her to get a drink and watch TV.
Winter break was over and Richard had not seen or heard from Rachel since Christmas. Worried was an understatement from Richard. He called and no answer, he went to her house and no one ever answered. He asked Jinx and Victor and they haven't heard from her either. Diana was scared she had no idea what happen, no one did. When Richard went to school he went to Rachel's locker every morning hoping she would be there but she never was. On the third day back from winter break Rachel was finally back.
