Rachel was unresponsive for two weeks and for those two weeks Richard did not leave that hospital. Jinx and Victor would take turns bring Richard his homework and Diana would come by everyday to see if Rachel was awake and to bring Richard food. No one excepts doctors were allowed in Rachel's room, she was still in critical condition. Each day Richard would grow tired from the restless nights, and from the worry of not knowing if Rachel was okay, and to make it worse a lady from child protective services named Lauren would come everyday to see if Rachel was awake. Rachel was 17 so they had to put her in a new home now that her dad is in jail from almost killing her. Lauren from CPS and Richard would get into arguemnts because she was planning on moving Rachel to a new home far away from Richard, her father and, away from Gotham.

One Tuesday Rachel finally woke up.

"She wants to see Diana." The doctor came out and said. Richard stood up looking at Diana wide eyed and his hands balled up in a fist.

"I'll let her know your waiting." Diana said reassuring him that he will see her soon. Lauren followed right behind her. "Can you gives us five minutes? She did just wake up and I'm her family not you, I don't care what you say." Diana said determined to talk to Rachel in peace. Diana walked in to see a battered and bruised Rachel. She looked so weak. There were cuts and bruises all over her face and arms, and Diana could only imagine what the stab wound on her stomach looked like. Diana sat down next to Rcahel and held her hand gently. "I'm here Rachel, I'm here." Diana said holding back tears.

"How... long was I...Out? Rachel said struggling to talk.

"Two weeks." Diana answered. Rachel looked away shaking her head and swallowing hard. She couldn't believe it. Tears coming down her cheek slowly.

"What..Whats happening." Rachel asked. Rachel's question was so vague but Diana knew what she met.

"Richard found you unconscious and you were out for two weeks. The police found your father and he is now in jail, there is a women form CPS named Lauren who wants find you a new home, now I know this is a lot to take in, but.."

"What! No! No, Diana you cant let that happen, you cant let her take me away. And..And Richard he cant seem me. He cant see me like this!"

"Rachel, Rachel calm down please, you will rip your stitches."

"Why don't you want to see Richard, and don't worry I wont let anyone take you away."

"I don't want to see Richard because... I mean look at me Diana I am a mess."

"Richard doesn't care about that, you know that."

"I also promised him. I promised him I wouldn't let my dad hurt me again, I promised him that if it got bad I would get out of there and tell him. I broke our promise." Rachel said with her eyes getting watery." Diana gave her a sad look and brushed some hair out of her face, and before she could stay anything more Lauren came in. Lauren, Diana, and Rachel all talked for about an hour till Rachel fell asleep again. They talked about possible living situations and that Rachel might have to testify against her father. While they were taking Richard paced back and forth outside the room. Diana and Lauren came out of the room. Lauren nodded at Richard and left the hospital and Diana signaled Richard for him to sit.

"What is it Diana? Why haven't I seen her yet?"

"She doesn't want to see you Richard... I'm sorry." Richard looked wide eyed.

"What do you mean she doesn't want to see me?" Richard said getting angry. He stood up and punched the wall.

"Richard calm down." Richard listen and sat back in the chair. He buried his head in his hands, and just cried for a few minutes. "I'm going to go home and get dinner ready for Bruce, do you want to come?" Richard shook his head no. Diana gave him a sad smile and she sadly left Richard alone outside Rachel's hospital room door. When Diana was gone Richard looked around not seeing any doctors or nurses around so he went into Rachel's room. He sat in the chair and slid his hand in hers and kissed it gently.

"Just let me see those beautiful eyes. Just let me hear your voice. Just one more time before you yell at me." Richard whispered but laughed at the last part. Their relationship would not be what it is if they didn't always yell and argue with each other. Rachel stirred in her sleep, and she blinked her eyes open.

"Richard!"

"You are awake, Rachel I..."

"Get out! Get out! I don't want to see you!" Rachel began yelling, kicking, and screaming. Her heart monitor was beeping out of control and then she screamed in pain. Her stitches opened. Blood was oozing through her hospital gown. Rachel let out another painful scream. Richard quickly applied pressure to the wound and then the doctors came rushing in. They told Rachel if Richard didn't apply pressure when he did they would of had to do surgery again. When everything calm down Richard went into her room again. He knocked and peeked his head through.

"Can I come in?" He asked softly.

"If you must." Rachel said not making eye contact and her arms crossed her chest." Richard sighed tiredly and sat in the chair next to her bed.

"Rachel, I haven't seen or talked to you in two weeks, are you really going to be mad at me for wanting to see you. To see if you were okay."

"Well I didn't want to see you." Rachel said.

"Why?" Richard asked his voice sounded hurt by what she said and she noticed.

"Because I broke our promise..." Rachel had tears streaming down her cheek and her voice became shaky. "I promised I would get out of that house if it got bad, and I didn't."

"I know Rachel, I know, but its not your fault." Richard answered wiping tears away from her bruised eye.

"Yes it is my fault, I should of gotten out of there the first time he hit me... Now look at me."

"I'm looking at your right now, and I see a beautiful girl that I am falling in love with."

"Richard..." Rachel said softly about to protest his statement and say something negative, but she stopped her self, what Richard said made her heart flutter and it made her happy. "I... I think I am falling in love with you too." Rachel said and they both leaned in giving into a passionate kissed. They both missed each others touch and they would never let that moment go.
