Chapter 120: Fayre's Choice
Age 763, December 1- Memorial Stone, Konohagakure- With Kakashi and Fayre
"We were sent on a mission to destroy the Kannabi Bridge to stop our enemies from receiving their supplies." Kakashi began. "The Kannabi Bridge was a large bridge somewhere in Kusagakure, as you're already aware. However, during the midst of this mission, we were being attacked. Rin was kidnapped."
Fayre frowned upon hearing that Rin was kidnapped. Perhaps that led Obito to his supposedly death? However, he decided to stay silent and allow Kakashi to explain everything that had happened.
Kakashi continued, "When Rin was kidnapped, as a shinobi, it was mandatory to obey an order at any cost, even if it means sacrificing our comrades' life. Nothing would get in the way of our mission. Every order was to be obeyed no matter what."
Fayre immediately scowled at the horrible statement Kakashi just made, as hatred began to manifest inside him. "How could you?! Was the importance of the mission that big of a deal to you than your comrades?!"
He began to wonder whether his brother Obito decided to do his insane plan about keeping every single being in an Infinite Tsukuyomi in a dream world because of Kakashi's unmoral ethics. Knowing his brother, he would have ignored Kakashi's order and gone after to save Rin.
Kakashi frowned once again, as he averted his gaze. "And that came back to haunt me later on. But that statement I made was one of the biggest regrets in my life. I let them both, especially Obito, down."
After seeing the sympathy and sadness in Kakashi's eyes, and after listening to his low tone, Fayre calmed down a little bit, but still couldn't believe that Kakashi was willing to sacrifice his comrade for the sake of a mission at that time. "If you abandon a comrade for the sake of a mission, doesn't that make you worse than a scum?"
Kakashi widened his eyes at what Fayre had suddenly said, as it reminded him about what Obito had said to him during the war. It was pretty much the same thing.
Fayre noticed the look of shock on Kakashi's face and explained, "That's what Obito-nissan taught me. The true value of comrades. If I were you, I would have never abandoned Rin over a mission."
Kakashi chuckled lightly as his expression calmed down a bit. "You know, your brother said the exact same thing to me when I chose to pursue the mission, instead of saving Rin." He then frowned once again and looked down at the ground. "Even after that, I still chose to pursue the mission, but this time alone, since Obito refused to pursue the mission with me. He decided to save Rin instead."
"And what did you do after that?" Fayre asked, as he clenched his fist, but was still willing to listen to Kakashi's full story first before doing anything rash.
"It was only after some time that I decided to stop pursuing the mission and follow Obito instead, since his words kept echoing in my mind. I realized that he was right. What good will completing a mission do if you can't even save your comrades? If I didn't follow Obito, both Rin and he would have died. And if that had happened, I would have been regretting my decision to pursue and care only about the mission for the rest of my life. Later on, when I found Obito, I saw that he was being attacked by a Shinobi who had the ability to turn invisible. Fortunately, I was able to stop him from killing Obito. However, I ended up having my left eye cut in the process. That's how I became blind in one eye. If it was not for Obito, I would have been dead later on."
"And that's when you activated the Sharingan?" Fayre assumed.
Kakashi nodded. "That's right. When he faced imminent danger that could have ended his life at any moment, he activated it for the first time."
"So…" Fayre knew that place had to be where Obito had died. "What happened after?"
"There was a cave where Rin was held hostage inside." Kakashi continued once again. "Obito and I went there together. There was an enemy who tied her up. We fought him, and it took a little while, but we did manage to kill him. We woke her up. But unfortunately, the Iwagakure shinobi already called their reinforcements. They used the jutsu to destroy the cave."
Fayre noticed that Kakashi clenched his fist. He could tell that Kakashi was still blaming himself for the death of Obito. But was it Kakashi's fault? That was the question Fayre needed to find an answer.
"And in the process… a large rock crushed half of Obito's side body before we could even escape…" Kakashi's voice was filled with regret. No matter what everyone in Konoha had said to him, he just could not move on from the incident that had happened on that day. That's why he always attended the Memorial Stone on his long-time rival's death anniversary. "I couldn't get him out of my mind. I tried so hard, but I just couldn't. He told me…" Kakashi took a moment to let the thoughts sink in before continuing, "…that as long as Rin was safe and alive and well, he would be okay with dying here. And in the end, he gave me his Sharingan Eye as a jonin promotion gift."
Kakashi then lifted his hitai-ate up to reveal his left Sharingan eye. "But we made the promise before he was gone. I promised him that I'd protect Rin no matter what. But I failed to keep the promise…"
Fayre finally understood now, as he now learned that it was not Kakashi who stole his brother's Sharingan Eye. But rather, it was Obito himself who willingly gave it to him. However, he already knew that it was not Kakashi who killed Obito, ever since he confronted the masked man and found out that he was Obito.
"Then…" Fayre briefly glanced at Kakashi's sorrowful face. "…What happened to Rin? We all know that Rin and you together destroyed the bridge even after my brother was crushed by a rock. That's one of the reasons how we won the war. But I want to know what exactly happened to Rin. I heard that she died. How exactly did she die…?"
"Just a few days after Obito died…" Kakashi now moved on from the story about Obito to the story about how Rin died.
Flashback Began- Third Shinobi World War
At the rocky ground, the battlefield was filled with a lot of corpse on the ground. Some are Konohagakure shinobi, some are Iwagakure shinobi, and probably some are Kumogakure and Kirigakure as well. Kakashi was in the middle of it. He's currently bandaged one of his fellow comrade's arm up.
"Damn it!" Konohagakure shinobi muttered.
"You all stay here." Kakashi commanded.
"Captain… Let's wait for reinforcements," begged Konohagakure shinobi.
Kakashi glanced around at the battle field and sighed. He looked behind him at the corpse he just killed. "We don't have time… Kirkgakure just kidnapped Rin in order to use her as some kind of test subject… If she's taken to the Blood Mist Village, we'll never get her out." Once again, Rin was kidnapped, but he could not abandon her at all. He was going to need to save her for the sake of Obito.
"But you can't go alone!"
Kakashi looked at his fellow comrade again. "I won't be alone." He bit his thumb to draw a blood and weaved through hand seals before slamming the ground. "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
Small white smoke puffed up before disappearing again, there were eight dogs waiting for him to order them. There was a bulldog, really big one with a pug on top of him. There were many various of breeds there. Each dog donned Konohagakure hitai-ate, proving their loyalty to Konohagakure on various different position.
"Can you pick up Rin's scent?" asked Kakashi hopefully.
There was a bored expression on the pug. "I remember it. Leave it to me."
Kakashi glanced over his shoulder at his injured comrade. "When the reinforcements arrive, tell them that we went after Rin."
"Yes, sir," obeyed the Konohagakure shinobi.
Afterward, Kakashi ran at high speed along with a pack of dogs on way in the rocky lands. 'Wait for me, Rin! I will definitely protect you!'
It was long way to find Rin's scent. Once they arrived, they sneaked behind the rocky. The cave was well guarded by Iwagakure ANBU. Kakashi commanded to draw Iwagakure's attention towards them.
It worked well. They were drawing Iwagakure's attention. Dogs ran back and forth, which attracted all Iwagakure shinobi.
One of them drew a sword to be cautious. He thought dogs would begin attacking him, so he was prepared for that.
But he was not too cautious anyways.
The kunai plunged into the ground behind him along with the paper bomb seal. It then burned all the way into the paper seal until it exploded.
"It's the Leaf!" The second ANBU cried. Two survivors had to raise their hands to guard themselves, as the dust kicked up, obscuring their vision. "A Leaf shinobi!" A reinforcement hurried to their side in search of their enemy.
Now four dogs followed Iwagakure ANBU who was looking for their enemies. "All right! We're going to divert the enemy!" One of four dogs said.
Now inside the cave, a bulldog and the pug broke through the mud wall along with other two dogs and Kakashi.
"You guys wait here," commanded the pug. He sniffed, trying to pick up Rin's scent. "This way, Kakashi." He turned his head over the yonder.
Kakashi and dogs followed the pug's scent until they finally found Rin who was tied against the log. He widened his eyes in shock and immediately came over to her side.
"Rin!" Kakashi cried. He untied the rope around her, freeing her. "They put her under a genjutsu."
This was the second time that she was kidnapped and was put under the genjutsu. He had a bad feeling about that for some reason.
"Release!"
Again, Rin awoke up from her genjutsu and gasped in shock, as Kakashi wiped off her tears. "Kakashi!" She pulled herself up.
"Let's get out of here!" commanded Kakashi.
Rin nodded, as all of them ran down the cave on way to the exit. Unfortunately, they ran down into two Iwagakure ANBU.
"Leaf shinobi! They have the captive!" One of Iwagakure ANBU called for more ANBU who also left in search of them. They grabbed their weapon and chased after them, who left in hurry through the hole where they came in. "Don't let them get away!"
A ferocious bulldog roared, causing the wall to collapse to block the hole, so that's way Iwagakure ANBU could not chase them. Afterward, Kakashi, Rin and dogs sneaked out of cave and into the rocky land.
"Go!" Pug suggested. "We'll divert the enemy."
"Thanks, I leave it to you," appreciated Kakashi.
The bulldog turned around, as the pug sighed. "If we're driven into a corner, we'll make a run for it too."
Kakashi nodded and looked at Rin. "Let's go, Rin."
Rin casted her glance down and frowned. "Kakashi…" She moved her hand to her chest and felt nervous. "I… feel strange…"
Kakashi was not sure what she meant, but he would have to ask her later. "We have to escape first. Scatter!"
As he said, they scattered to escape the place where the Iwagakure captured Rin inside the cave. After they left the rocky land, they ran down the path through the forest.
"I feel it…" Rin told him. "I feel like there's someone, something else inside me."
Kakashi was confused, despite being expressionless. He glanced sideways at her while running down the path. "What are you talking about?"
"I don't know." That was all Rin could reply.
"There they are!" The first Iwagakure shinobi yelled.
"Don't let them get away!" The second Iwagakure shinobi commanded. Two of them were behind Kakashi and Rin, and other one were in front of them. They were trying to corner them.
"We have to get past them!" said Kakashi. He drew a kunai and charged right into the Iwagakure shinobi that was in front of them, as Rin leapt over to the branch. He took one of Iwagakure shinobi effortlessly before catching up to her, while two more Iwagakure shinobi still chased them there.
Kakashi and Rin started hopping the branch one after one, trying to reach Konohagakure before they did.
"Iwagakure tried to perform some kind of ritual on me." She revealed. "A special ritual. But I lost consciousness and…" Suddenly, she sensed something beast inside her. She gasped, realizing what kind of ritual they performed into her.
Kakashi diverted his eyes at Iwagakure ANBU who were still chasing them. 'They're persistent!'
"I can't return to the Konohagakure!" said Rin.
"What are you saying?!"
Rin glanced sideways at him. "Kakashi, you have to kill me now!"
Kakashi shocked, "What are you saying, Rin?!"
"They're using me. If I return, Konohagakure may be attacked!"
Kakashi waved his hand, as to signal 'no'. "I promised Obito that I would protect you! I can't do such a thing! There's got to be a way out of this! In any case, we need to make it to the village!"
Rin scowled, "No, Kakashi…"
"I'll stop them." Kakashi stopped on the branch, leaving Rin to continue to hop off. "Now go!"
"I can't…" Rin spun around, and bounced off the branch to come back.
Later
Kakashi struggled with few Iwagakure, but he killed few of them. However, there's too many Iwagakure ANBU that surrounded him. He had to use Raikiri, the lightning thing in his right hand.
There was a rain fall tonight.
He would need to kill them all, so he could come back with Rin to home safety. He promised Obito that he would protect Rin… and Fayre with all of his life no matter what. If only… if only he could end the war himself.
He lunged towards one of Iwagakure ANBU and was going to pierce him through the chest.
But…
Rin intervened between them and took Raikiri through her heart. She gasped in shock. She shocked because she took a great dealt of damage done to her heart. She knew she had to do it. She coughed up the blood, as she watched Kakasho who was also in shocked.
He widened his eyes, along with the tears running down from his eyes. Another one died because of him again. He was not able to fulfil his promise to Obito, now that Rin died because of him. If only… if only he was so careful. If he was careful, Rin would never die. Plus, if he never allowed her to be captured again, none of this would have happened!
But why…?
Why did she intervene and committed suicide? Was it because she had something inside her that she was afraid of? What was she afraid of? She mentioned something that was inside her, something about the ritual. He was not sure why she decided to kill herself by using that advantage of his Raikiri.
She knew that once he used Raikiri, it was too fast even for him to stop himself. So that's why she came in to kill herself… but for what cost?
"Kakashi…" Rin spoke her last word before she hung her head down.
He realized that she passed away because he pierced through her heart. No, no, no. He panicked, if he stayed his hand in, she would not have survived. He hurried to remove his hands from her heart himself. But there was nothing he could do to her. There's no way he could keep her alive. She's already dead. She just fell to the floor. Killed. Died.
Yet another person he allowed to die. He was still at disbelief. It was all his fault that both Obito and Rin died because of him. Only if he was not such an ass to Obito and only if he was careful with her, none of this would have happened.
His right hand dripped with Rin's blood, as he clenched his fist and shut his eyes. 'Dammit! Sorry, Obito. I failed. I'm not able to keep your promise. I let her to die. I let you down.' He allowed his tears to fall down on the ground.
He opened his eyes, as his left eye started to evolve into new Sharingan called Mangekyou. But due to him not being Uchiha, he passed out as soon as he activated Mangekyou Sharingan for very first time.
Flashback Ended
'Obito-niisan was there.' Fayre thought. 'He was there to witness Kakashi shoving his Chidori through her heart. That's what drove him to the darkness and began his quest for this nonsense dream world or whatever it is that Obito had been spouting about.'
He remembered when Obito told the story to him. The story Kakashi just told him was the same story that Obito has. Kakashi's story was just an extended version of why Kakashi killed Rin. It turned out that Kakashi didn't murder Rin on his own, but it was an accident. Basically, Rin committed suicide to protect Konohagakure. Noble honor on Rin's part, though.
After Kakashi told the whole story, it was pretty much confirmed that it was not Kakashi's fault. Obito survived. Rin jumped in front of him, only to have him killed her. None of this was his fault. All the stories that both Obito and Kakashi told now became cleared to Fayre. It all made sense now.
Effectively immediately, his hatred of Kakashi quickly diminished and his feelings towards him now became more sympathetic. He realized that Kakashi had done nothing wrong, and his hatred towards him was rather blind. All these years, he hated Kakashi for taking Obito away from him. If he was never corrupted by the cycle of hatred, he probably would have seen right through the first time Kakashi told the story.
He began to debate with himself if he should inform him of Obito's status? That he was the one who killed him today? Should he tell him that Obito, in fact, was alive whole times until today? What reaction Kakashi would have?
On second thought, maybe he should not tell Kakashi right now, but later when the threat was eliminated. Because if he told him about it, Kakashi probably would be in shocked. He can't have that, considering he was going to fight side by side with him against Coola. Although Kakashi may be very weak, but he would provide some useful techniques when it's needed.
After all, since Obito activated Mangekyo Sharingan and had an ability to teleport anything, even himself out and in. That should mean Kakashi should also have that ability as well.
Fayre finally deactivated his Sharingan. "I have decided not to kill you any longer. It all made sense now."
Kakashi was taken aback by this comment. He did not expect Fayre to change his mind all of the sudden. Was his story being told that made all clear to Fayre now enough to make him not to try to kill him anymore. At least he was relieved, but he wondered what made Fayre to come, not to fight, but to listen to his story. He wondered why?
Even so, he could not trust Fayre. He could have caught him off guard, only to blindside attack him. He carefully slid his hitai-ate back to cover his left eye. "Are you going to fight them off and protect this village instead?"
"Yep." Fayre casually replied. He strolled slowly towards the Copy-Cat Ninja but noticed that he kept his guard. As usual, Kakashi was always cautious and distrust of everyone. "I've been wondering… Can you activate Mangekyo Sharingan?"
Kakashi had a suspicious look on his face. Obviously, he still did not trust him. "No. I don't think I can activate it yet. Why do you ask?"
Fayre scowled. That was no good. He needed his technique for that purpose against Coola. After all, he already set up his own strategy a way to beat Coola after he fought Obito. "You should be able to, especially the fact that you've killed a comrade that was very close to you. When you killed Rin, your Sharingan subsequently evolved into the Mangekyo Sharingan after you've seen the death of your dear comrade."
"That's the thing." Kakashi sighed. He had heard of them. He had heard that there was only way to evolve their Sharingan to further level was that their comrades must die before their very eyes. Since not only that he, himself, had taken the life away from Rin, but also witnessed her death. That moment his Sharingan should had evolved to next level. He knew he did, but… "No matter how much I tried to activate Mangekyo, it would not work. The last thing I remembered after her death, I passed out."
"You passed out because you were not Uchiha." Fayre pointed out. He turned around, and for some reason, he glanced around too rapidly, as if he was very cautious of his surround. "You need to figure it out how to make it work, because our fate—no, the entire fate of Elementian, the fate of our Element, and the fate of the universe are leave up in our hands now. But for now, we have to drive these annoying bastards away."
Kakashi widened his eyes when he saw a bunch of frog men surrounding them. He stood his back against his longtime rival's back, as their stances were set. "They were here whole times?!" He did not detect them at all.
"Yeah." Fayre scowled. "They are all clones of Guure called Medas, but they were not like our clones. They are all real. When he produced clones, all his lives are split into them, also including his powers. But I sensed the large amount of energy that the original Guure inherited far away from here had disappeared. That means he died, at last. These Medas are all they have right now."
"Are there any techniques we need to know about?" Kakashi asked, scanning the entire area. He just realized that they were indeed surrounded by the Medas.
"Yeah. Just be careful and make sure not to let them hug you. Otherwise, they'd blow up together with you." Fayre explained. "But lucky for us, they're all too weak. We can kill them all."
"Heh…" Mini-Guure chuckled evilly. "No matter how many times I have told Paradox, he would not listen to me for a reason. I knew you would betray us and join the force with the very same person you swore to hate on your whole life." His face quickly turned into a sinister grin. "AT LEAST I WILL BE ABLE TO KILL YOU, YOU TRAITOR!"
Fayre scoffed. "Bring it on! Do you honestly think you can take me on? There's one thing you don't know about me!"
Kakashi took a brief glance over his shoulder at Fayre's confident face. 'What did he mean when he said 'me'?"
"I have known everything about you since you were recruited into this force." Guure calmly stated with the utmost confidence in his tone. "There's not a single thing that I don't know about you. Based off on the difference between our power levels combined, you mathematically have no chance to win over us. We are too strong for you, even with our weak power level, and the original me died. That is a fact." Following by it, all clones of Guure immediately charged or jumped right after Kakashi and Fayre for the attack.
Kakashi quickly lifted his hitai-ate to reveal his left Sharingan eye once again. He drew the kuani, as he was prepared to defend him. He was not going to die right here, not as long as the Element was still facing the danger right now.
Fayre, on other hand, was not fazed at all. He never once panicked, but all he had was an absolute confidence in himself. His lips slowly curled up into a smirk. "Is that so?! Do you know why Coola is so afraid to let me learn the art of the Ki?" There was no response from Guure, so he continued. "That's because he was afraid that if I were to learn how to use Ki, my Ki would skyrocket quickly, and I would be able to defeat Coola thanks to Elementian trait that I possessed."
Clones were drawing near him, yet he did not pay mind to them.
"Do you know what this thing is?" Fayre chuckled, showing the syringe in his hand. As soon as he showed it to them, all clones froze and started staring at the syringe in puzzle.
"No, what is it?" asked Guure.
Kakashi took a good look at the syringe. Apparently, it contained the blue liquid inside that syringe. It was full of blue liquid inside that thing. 'Is that Chakra?'
But given the expression Fayre had right now, it surely looked like he was full of confident. That quickly changed his mind about that syringe.
'No, it's not Chakra!'
"What you didn't know is that I took years and years out of this thing." Fayre stared at his syringe. "I was training every day and every night just to fill this whole syringe… with the help of Paradox, of course."
Guure widened his eyes. Could that mean… "You can't mean…!"
Fayre grinned. "That's right! After I learned that there was no way to hide it from Coola, so I created this syringe to hide it from him. And yes, this one is the same thing that Coola is so afraid of having into my system. It's… the Ki syringe! My own Ki that I trained my ass off to earn them! It can be only limit to so much I trained my ass off. I do have extra syringes, though… but for now, only one will do…"
He raised the syringe. "WITNESS MY TRUE POWER AND YOU SHALL COWER IN FEAR BEFORE ME!" He pulled his syringe towards his biceps.
"NOO! STOP!" Clones of Guure immediately rushed towards him, but it was too late, as Fayre injected the syringe directly into his biceps.
The aura was unleashed around his body, as it was overflowing all over the area. With a strong wind like that from the aura, it was strong enough to push clones of Guure and especially Kakashi who was pushed further away more than Guures.
The blue aura that emitted from Fayre's body was too bright for them all to see, so they had to put their arms to shield their eyes from it.
Fayre's aura started to dim a bit, but he continued to power up, as he started to scream. "AHHHHH!"
Guure and Kakashi slowly let their arms down, only to find Fayre screaming all the way to the heaven while his aura continued to spike up.
"His battle power is raising…!" Guure muttered in shock. "Paradox, what have you done?" He cursed Paradox's idiotic decision. Why did he help Fayre to gain the power of Ki? Did he realize that it could have endangered Coola and others?!
"AHHHH!" Fayre continued to scream and power up, but the ground started to shake. The rocks were floating around him, as if they were defying gravity.
"What?!" Kakashi noticed the mini-earthquake here, but he realized that it was caused by Fayre. 'This is the power of Ki?! Such a destructive power!'
It was almost as if Fayre was resurrected from the dead when he felt the power that surged through his body. He had to feel good. All years of working hard to train his ass off and invented the Ki Syringe. He had to store his Ki into the syringe for years and years without being detected by Coola and others. Only one person knew that was Paradox. But of course, Paradox was an idiot.
He managed to convince Paradox to train him, so he could be useful to Coola's forces. Paradox agreed, but that was too easy to fool him. In fact, he used Paradox to train him, so he could ambush Coola, when he would surpass him.
From the look of it, one syringe already boosted his battle power to the level of mediocre soldiers' battle powers. These Guure clones are on the level of mediocre soldiers' battle power. No—actually, he already had surpassed mediocre soldiers. That would mean he could kill these clones easily.
With two more syringes… He wondered if he could surpass Coola if he used two more?
The blue Ki in the syringe had ran out, as it had reached the max. But at least he was strong enough to defeat all these clones with ease.
"What do you think of my battle power?" Fayre asked with a smug smirk.
Guure was not pleasant with his remark. "You little insolence arrogant! It shall be your downfall right here and now!"
"I'm not like Vegeta, who is always all arrogant and pride!" Fayre placed his palm towards an incoming Guure. "I'm different from him! I'm not arrogant, but the moment my power is showing, I already knew I could swat you like a fly! Heh, funny how that works. Frogs tend to eat flies. Yet… I treated you like a fly. Why is that, Guure?"
"DON'T YOU DARE MAKING FUN OF ME! YOU WILL DIE FOR THIS!" screamed Guure in a rage.
"Oh, I already did. You're just too stupid to realize that it was an insult." Fayre fired the Ki blast at one of Guures. But the frog-man dodged, as it narrowly missed him.
Guure looked down at Fayre and scoffed. "What was that aim? Like I said, your arrogant shall be your downfall!" He flew down towards Fayre for the kill this time. "DIE!"
Fayre chuckled, but he did not say anything. What Guure did not realize was that the Ki he just fired now had lingered in the sky for a while. He simply clenched his fist. The Ki sphere would tighten up. But when he released his fist, the Ki sphere divided into multiple spheres and scattered across the sky.
Kakashi was just amazed by the energy spheres that were scattered across the sky. 'Their technique is different from the chakra. When they used the Ki, they're freely allowed to use their Ki everywhere they like to.'
He then wondered if the Ki was really that simple, or was it difficult than he thought? All these Ki users made them apparently look easy, even Fayre, and Team 7 were able to perform them with ease. In the Chakra system, you have to perfect your jutsu, or it would backfire. That's why performing the jutsu was more difficult, but these Ki users who performed their technique made it look so easy. He would never know until he got to use Ki.
"Your aim is pathetic!" Guure mocked Fayre. "Even with your newfound Ki power, there's no way you're beating me with a pathetic aim like that!"
"Really?" Fayre smirked, as he reopened his hand into a palm. Somehow, all scattered Ki spheres that floated around in the sky would transformed into golden swords.
There were no words for Kakashi to describe Fayre's technique. 'He turned them into swords?!' That was only one thing he could think of. He was just so speechless.
"Look again!" Fayre yelled before waving his hand down, promptly sending all golden swords down towards all Guure clones.
Before any of them could react, several of Guure were already skewered by the golden swords onto the ground, including the guy that was leading the pack who was about to land a punch on Fayre.
Rest of remaining Guures stared in shock at the golden swords that were raining down on them. They even attempted to dodge them, but it was too fast for them.
"What?!" One of the clones cried, before he was struck with the golden sword that pinned him against the ground. "What kind of technique is this?!" He never had seen a technique where an energy could turn into a floating sword like that!
"Not just that…" Fayre said quietly, as his lips turned slowly into a smirk. "It's not swords I only can control. I can transform any of my energy into anything I want it to. I can make them floating swords like the ones you just saw. I can make axe, maces, clubs, or everything out of my sphere and fight my enemies with it. Just as long as they're weapons."
"Everything?" Guure, being pinned down onto the ground, looked at Fayre very anxiously. "You can make everything out of your Ki?"
"Yes." Fayre stared at his own hand. "I can do everything with this. Thanks to my work hard training under Paradox, who was as clueless as what I was planning to do. I was able to acquire this technique."
There was a pause for a while, as he was reminiscing his whole life living inside Coola's spaceship. So many times, he would be forced to exterminate many weakling planets where it suits his strength the best. There were so regretful actions he had done, and he blamed himself for committing such a crime that he was ordered to. Today would be the day he would end Coola's tyranny ruling.
Fayre glanced up at all pinned Guure clones whom seemed to struggle to break free out of them. "However, once I decided what kind of weapon and their abilities I go with, I cannot change the weapon or ability until they have been expired, or I have dispelled them myself. But should I decide to dispel them myself, I cannot use another one until the cooldown have expired. Normally, it would take about 30 minutes to expire."
Guure sighed in relief. But it did not last longer, as Fayre opened his mouth to speak again.
"However…" Fayre hesitated, as he took a good look at Guure, who already froze and sweat, just waiting for him to say something more. "It's not just floating sword."
Guure widened his eyes. "W-What is it?!"
Fayre's smirk quickly turned into a dark grin, as it grew wide even more. "It is explosive floating swords!"
"E-E-Explosive…?!" Guure's eyes widened once when Fayre mentioned 'explosive'.
"That's right!" Fayre nodded. "Today, you're going to die! Send your daddy my regard when you see him next time in the afterlife!"
With a simple clenched of his fist, all golden swords that were pinned Guure onto the ground suddenly glowed brighter golden, indicating that they were going to explode.
"Kakashi!" Fayre yelled to get Kakashi attention, but there were no words needed, as Kakashi knew what Fayre was going to say. They immediately retreated from the battlefield and landed on the top of the branch of a large tree from the faraway, watching over the battlefield with the golden bright light that was spreading across the battlefield.
"DAAAAMN YOU, YOU TRAITOR! YOU WILL PAY FOR TH-!" His words trailed off, as multiple golden swords already exploded. They all did not explode at once, but it would start from one side to other side. It was spreading explosive across the battlefield, almost as if it was firework on the ground instead of the usual sky.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The firework on the ground was very beautiful. He could hear Guure's multiple screams. It was almost as if it was the music to his ears. Up until today, he always looked forward to Coola's whole force annihilated. Guure would be his first guy that he killed, despite being clones. He would love to kill the original Guure, but whoever killed him just did the justice for him instead. He was just there to finish cleaning up Guure's remaining clones. Now Guure was no more Guure. All of Guures were dead.
"I was never a traitor. I never betrayed Coola, because I never had a loyal to him to being with. I thought you knew that I was forced to join this force. My loyalty still lies with the Konoha no matter what." Fayre spat, looking at the training ground. "That's another stuff you don't know about me… Guure."
Kakashi searched for the memorial stone, but unfortunately, it was destroyed in the process, thanks to Fayre's new technique. He was saddened that he would never see the memorial stone again. 'Sorry, Obito.'
"I think it's time for me to fight Coola." Kakashi looked up at Fayre who just spoke. "No, it's time for us to fight Coola."
"Fayre…"
Fayre turned around and stared at his longtime rival. "I already found the strategy… a way for us to defeat Coola if we work together." Then he smirked. "As much as I loathed to say it, I think we will make a great team."
Television Room, Check-In Station- With Minato, Kushina, and Rin
"I'm so glad that Fayre never intended to side with Coola in the first place." Kushina said with the relief. "His loyalty still lies with the Konoha, as well as the Element. Who could imagine what would have happened if Fayre chose to side with Coola?"
"It was never his intention to betray the Konoha." Rin spoke up that just got Minato and Kushina's attention. She sighed. "I have been watched over him for years and years. I can reassure you that he never wanted to betray the Konoha. He was forced…"
She placed her hands on her chest and looked very dejected. "He was forced to go with Coola. He had no choice because of what Coola said to him. Coola threatened him."
"Threatened?" Minato asked out loud. "What exactly did he threaten him with?"
Rin frowned. "After you both died, I switched the view to Fayre because I was too worried. I was scared that something might happened to Fayre. So I checked up on him…"
Flashback Began
Eyes slowly opened, but there was flame that spread through the forest nearby. Eyes casted downward, Fayre would then find himself right by the large crater, which left off by the destruction of the Kyuubi's attack.
Fayre struggled to fully grasp the concept of this situation. What the hell just happened?! Last thing he remembered was… His eyes widened, as he quickly regained his memory. Last thing he remembered was that his best friend, Ian, trapped him in the prison sphere and pushed him away before the massive explosion.
A river of water just ran down his cheeks from his eyes. He just lost his best friend. "It's… It's all my fault. I…. killed him." It was so full of regret. There was so many things he wished he did not do. "It's all due to my stubbornness!"
He slammed the ground with his fists in anger. "I CAN'T SAVE THEM ALL!" Once again, he slammed his fists on the ground again. "IT'S ALL MY FAULT!"
He began to realize that it was reality. The reality is that there was no 100% guaranteed that he would be able to save everyone. No one was ever perfect. Perhaps that was what Kakashi had gone through? Kakashi was unable to save Obito-niisan and Rin. At that moment he started to realize that there might be truth to Kakashi's words more than he thought.
He shook his head, as he crunched down until his head touched the ground with tears continued to flow down his cheeks. "No… He took the Sharingan from Nii-san. He must be lying through his teeth! No way Obito would hand his Sharingan eyes over to the scum the likes of Hatake Kakashi!"
His hatred towards Kakashi started to surface, but it disappeared rather quickly as soon as he gave a thought about Ian and his friends at the farm. "Dammit! I should have listened to Ian. Only if I was not so stubborn! Ian would be still alive RIGHT NOW! HE WOULD BE RIGHT HERE BY ME!"
He recalled that the farm family did not want to leave the farm because they believed they should die along with the farm. It was stupid, but that's their motto, apparently. He remembered that Ian hesitated, but he was going to leave them alone. It's because he knew there was no way he could convince them. That's why he suggested him to leave them alone.
"I am so stupid! Why did I not listen to him?!" He grabbed the dirt before slamming his fists on the ground repeatedly. "I AM SO STUPID! I AM SO STUPID! IT IS MY FAULT THAT HE DIED! WHAT AM I?! AM I SO USELESS?! I AM SUPPOSED TO BE GENIUS, YET I LET MY STUBBORN GET BEST OF ME! EVEN ITACHI WON'T BE THIS STUBBORN!"
As much as he hated to admit it, he could tell that Itachi was truly genius. Too smart for his own good. He may be genius, but Itachi far surpassed him in the term of genius. He wouldn't be surprised if Itachi would surpass him in the term of fighting. Itachi was what could be perfect Uchiha character. Unlike him, Itachi was truest shinobi in the name of Uchiha clan.
He started to weep once he realized how many people he knew have died, especially Obito-niisan. "Nii-san…" He wished that his brother Obito would be there to tell him that everything would be okay. That always calmed him down. "What am I supposed to do?!"
"Perhaps less sniveling will be more than sufficient," spoke the unknown voice.
Startled, Fayre quickly stood up and drew a couple of kunai in his hands, just in case. He found odd-looking man in front of him few feet away.
There was a man with deep-purple skins, more masculine that he never had seen from his own kinds in his life before, and several armor-like carapaces on the chest, shoulders, shins, and head. There's also dark purple on top of his head.
"Who are you?!" Fayre demanded, still on his guard. Whoever that guy was, it could not be good.
"You may call me Coola…" An odd-looking man introduced himself, spreading his arms and crossed his feet in most elegant way, almost as if he bowed before Fayre. "of the Planet Trade Organization."
"Planet Trade Organization?" Fayre asked, as his eyebrows knitted in confusion. 'Whatever it is, I have a bad feeling about it. Is he the responsible for the attack of the Kyuubi? No, it can't be possible. He's not Uchiha.' He carefully analyzed this Coola guy. That appearance of his… He never had seen that kind of appearance before in his life. But since this guy mentioned 'planet…" does that mean he's from the outer space? That means it would be bad thing.
Coola smirked. "Yes, on your planet, I am what you called… aliens, or in other words, I am not of this planet. I come from the outer space."
That just confirmed Fayre's worst fear right now. That Coola was an alien. He needed to know what Coola's after… "Then what are you after? Claiming this planet, so you can use this for the trade later? Like selling the planet to other aliens?"
"Ho-ho…" Coola chuckled very amusedly. "How do you figure?"
"You mentioned 'Planet Trade Organization'." Fayre explained. "I assumed that means you're claiming the planet and sell it for the price, based on the environment of the planet. That name pretty much told all." As far as he could remember, there was no history of aliens that came to invade this planet or something. He wondered what power Aliens could hold right now?
"The source told me that Elementians are very intelligent species, despite not enough advanced technology. They are not wrong after all." Coola said. "But no. I am not after this planet. This planet is not my responsible to look after. However, it is you who I came to look for."
Fayre frowned. "Why are you after me?" How would alien know anything about him? Why him of all people? Still, he could not let his guard down even for one second. Could this man or whoever that person was, was responsible for this attack that was caused by the Kyuubi?
"Because your abilities appear to be very useful. Planet Trade Organization, or PTO for short, could use someone the likes of you. Your additional would be great asset to our organization, especially my squads." Coola explained, as he took few steps forward, but as precautious, Fayre took few steps backward. "He told me all about you."
"He?"
"You know him."
"Who are you talking about?"
"Did you know there are 137 known Human Aliens species across the endless universe? You, Elementians, are one of them." There was confusion look on Fayre's face. Coola sighed, as he continued to explain. "You may be not aware about this, but I have sent several of my kid soldiers—who are Human Aliens, of course- to this planet to observe this planet to ensure whether we should attack this planet and sell it for a price or leave it to its peaceful life. One of them are from your village. You know him very well."
Fayre widened his eyes, as realization quickly hit him. "You mean…?!"
Coola smirked. "Yes. He blended well into your village as if he was one of them. While growing up and observing on this planet, he met you and later became your friend, of course. Unfortunately, he grew too attached to you. You may know him as Furuta Ian."
Fayre was taken aback by this sudden revelation.
He had to give a lot of thought about Ian being spy for Coola and his men. That same person whom he considered to be very close friend to him turned out to be the enemy?! To think he trusted him very well enough to tell him everything about himself! Of course, there was no way he would suspect Ian to be an alien, because at first, he did not believe that aliens existed!
But what he cannot deny anymore was that the alien was right there in front of him! He refused to believe in the story what was being revealed right here! There's not possible that Ian was the spy, even as far as being alien!
Fayre clenched his fist, solidifying his glare towards the alien whom maintained the smirk since the revelation. "YOU ARE LYING!"
Coola simply chuckled at this sudden outburst.
"There's no way he's an alien! No way he works for you!" Fayre yelled as he pointed his point at the alien. "If he is truly an alien and a spy…"
His lips trembled so much that he did not want to say any more. No matter how he wants to deny that, deep inside somewhere, the alien told the truth. His Sharingan detected no lies anywhere in that alien's voice. He clenched his fist as he slowly pulled it to his chest, starting to feel his heart that beats faster than usual.
"Then… then…" Fayre stammered, trying to come up with right words he wants to speak. "Then… what's the point of all bonds Ian and I have been building up up until now?! What's the point of him sacrificing his life to save me if he WAS your spy?!"
"You're in denial." Coola bluntly pointed out, making Fayre scowl as a result. "Your Sharingan has an ability to detect lies. When I revealed Ian's true identify to you, you immediately could tell that I tell the truth."
Fayre widened his eyes, as if his eyes was the secret that no one should know about it.
"Of course, my spy told me that." Coola said. However, he could tell that Fayre started to get upset once he realized there was no way he could deny that anymore. "In case if you wonder, Ian never intend to betray you."
Fayre snapped his head up and widened his eyes.
"Originally, Ian was supposed to come back after he completed his mission. The mission was to observe the planet for at least three years. But he never came, so I sent another spy, and I found out why. He became too attached to you." Coola explained, as Fayre was stunned after that huge revelation. "Normally, I would have sent my spy to kill him after the betrayal, but I decided to have the spy to keep an eye on him in order to gather any important information from Element."
He chuckled. "I must admit… The information about the Sharingan is rather intriguing. Not just the information about the Sharingan, but also the information about you. There's a part of you that you are not aware about."
"What?" Fayre knitted his eyebrows in confusion. "What's a part of me that I'm not aware about?"
"Perhaps if you come with me, you will find out." Coola smiled, extending his hand to the teenager Elementian boy, who was very wary of him. "You will discover every truth there is about you! They will reveal your true heritage!"
'Heritage? What is he talking about?' Fayre paused, getting lost in his own thought. He knew his blood came from the Uchiha clan. If he was not the Uchiha, he would not have unlocked his Sharingan in the first place. His Sharingan was the proof of that. That must be Coola's attempt to goad him into joining his squad and betraying Konoha and the Element.
He glared at the hand that Coola held out. "I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!" He swatted his hands before hopping back. "I am not joining you WHETHER you like it or not!" Just a moment right after this, his eyes suddenly evolved into the small cross in his Sharingan eyes.
That took immediate notice by Coola. 'His eyes…?' His lips slowly turned into a smirk. 'Interesting.'
"I WILL NOT BETRAY THE KONOHA, OR EVEN MY PLANET!" Fayre let all his rage scream out, slowly leaking the black aura from his body, as it began to materialize black gigantic, humanoid out of his body. It then immediately raised both ginormous swords and pointed them up at the sky, gathering dark clouds around.
For the brief, Coola was able to see what that black gigantic humanoid looked like just before it particularly became blended into the darkness. 'That…?' He recalled that his spy told him there's Sharingan that can ascend the beyond, and that it shall possess the special abilities.
"It's Black Susanoo! It can only be unlocked once I acquire the Mangekyo Sharingan. Thanks to the death of my close friend, I was able to ascend the Sharingan.' Fayre explained, though he remained furious. "I will give you the warning. Leave the planet, or I will kill you."
Coola still smirked despite unable to see through the darkness that Fayre's Black Susanoo created. "You will soon realize how difference the power between us are. Why not you test your so-called Susanoo on me?"
"You will regret it!" Fayre said, as the Black Susanoo immediately swung one of its ginormous swords in an arc towards the alien.
Coola never was the one to cower whenever there was a huge object that came on its way to him. All he did was to smile, as if he was filled with whole confidence in himself. There he simply raised his open palm and caught an incoming giant sword with an ease. With just one hand.
"What?!" Fayre yelled. He was perplexed how Coola was able to catch the sword, and on top of that, a ginormous sword?! There was no one who could possibly be that strong to stop the sword with just one hand! He tried to pull his sword out, but to no avail. No matter how much he struggled, Coola's strength was too much for him.
But what happened next was much to his surprise. Coola effortlessly broke the sword in half! Effortless! Almost as if he was nothing! Right now, he felt like he was an ant in comparison to his opponent. But despite that he knew that he was outmatched in the term of powers, he was going to try to beat him regardless.
"DAMN!" Fayre screamed, as he leapt back and then gripped his both hands on the hilt of his remaining sword. Then instead of swinging in an arc, this time he swung his sword horizontally.
Coola still stood there. Perhaps he could not see anything inside the darkness, so that must be the reason why he did not move. However, he muttered with the confidence he had put inside himself. "Amateur."
The sword slammed on the entire body of the alien. Fayre expected this alien's body to knock away from the sword. But unfortunately, it was not what he expected because the alien took the sword head-on, unfazed and undamaged. Not even a single inch that would move the alien away.
'It can't be!' When Fayre activated his Black Susanoo, he had an ability to see through the darkness. Basically, it looked like a night vision through his eyes. He was amazed by the sheer strength of Coola. It was unthinkable that Coola could withhold the heavy attack like that! Most people would be dead the moment they were hit. 'What kind of monster is he?!'
"Is that the best you can do…" Coola treated the sword like it was nothing to him. It would be stuck on his side, but he was not fazed by it. He simply smirked with his arms crossed very smugly. "…Uchiha Fayre?!"
The sweat-drop began to run down Fayre's head profusely. He could not believe what he was seeing right now! He never had seen so formidable opponent like that! There were no best words he could describe this guy! Once he learned that there was too much difference in powers between them, he simply gave up. He dismissed his Black Susanoo, and as soon as it was dismissed, he fell to his knees with his head hung down, trembling all over his body.
"It can't be true!" Fayre mumbled to himself, but it did not go unheard by the foe.
"It's true. What you just witness was only less than 1% of my power!" Coola revealed before he started strolling slowly towards the stunned Chuunin.
That revelation just stopped Fayre's heart so suddenly. His eyes widened, as his tremble froze for a moment there. Did Coola just say that the power he used was only less than one percentage?! Just less than one percentage?!
Only one question remained on his mind. Are there any people who are as strong as him or stronger than him out in the universe?! Because as far as he knew, there was no way even the Hokage could beat that alien! There was too much gap in powers between the Element and Coola! He did not think that even whole Elementians could take Coola on!
"Now I am going to destroy the planet…" Coola immediately declared his intention. There was no hesitation in his voice… not even once! That tone showed that he was 100% serious about it. He would do it.
'Are there foes that even capable of destroying the planet out there in the universe?!' thought Fayre. His body started to tremble, and his heart started beating so fast again just hearing that declaration. He even thought about stopping Coola from doing that, but then he remembered that there was no way he could stop him. His attack would just unfazed him just like his last attacks. There was nothing he could do about it.
His eyes shut down tightly. He just realized that the Element were fated to be destroyed no matter what! Like dumb Hyuuga love to say. 'He's going to destroy it anyways!' If he shut his eyes down, everything would be over. He would not know what's going on. Because at least he would not see his own planet being destroyed.
'It's over…' He thought. 'I'm so… sorry! At least I will be able to see my bro—"
"Unless…" The alien's voice interrupted his long train of thought.
His eyes quickly opened as he whipped his head up to look at Coola's extended hand in shock. Unless… what? He gulped, waiting to hear the alien's offer.
"Unless you allow me to recruit you into my ranks, that is." Coola made his offer, much to Fayre's surprise. "If you do, rest of your fellow species and the Element will be spared."
Fayre did not know what to do. He did not want to join Coola, but if he didn't… He gave a long thought about it whether if he should join or not. If he joined, it would be like he betrayed the Element and the Konoha…. If he refused to join, then the Element would be destroyed immediately.
He did not want to be the reason why the Element's destroyed, and he did not want to live with the guilty for the rest of the afterlife if it ever existed. That moment he just realized he was given no choice but to…
"Fine." Fayre finally gave up on making a tough decision and took Coola's hand, as he stood up. "I will go with you. Just leave the Element out of it, please."
Coola's smirk became even more big. "Excellent. Welcome to Planet Trade Organization, Uchiha Fayre."
Flashback Ended
"He had to create the blood clone just to trick Kakashi and others to think he died." Rin explained the story, as it was about to reach the conclusion. "That way the Konoha wouldn't have wasted their time hunting him… in vain, because he was not on the planet."
Rin was saddened that Obito's beloved brother was forced to work for the most fearful and powerful enemy in the universe. When the first time she had seen Freeza on the screen, she just realized that the both were too powerful. Despite her inability to sense Ki, she knew they were bad news. When she heard that Freeza was defeated on the Namek, she was very relieved. She just knew that would mean the end of Coola was possible near future, too.
"He did it for the Element. He did it for all the people on the planet." Minato frowned, feeling sympathetic for Fayre. "I could not imagine if Fayre refused to take up the offer, Coola would destroy the planet. What will it be for us Elementians if it truly happened? And there would have been a lot of work for Emma-sama to do."
"And Naruto would be gone along with it." Kushina added. "When young people died under 14 years old, they will be taken to different world where they can be properly raised and grow up until they're of age. We would not be able to see him anymore until he comes of age. Our sacrifice would have been for nothing. Well, except you, Rin." It was true. Rin could have gone to another world just to grow up properly, but she elected to remain in Check-In Station to watch over Obito and Fayre, so when they died, she could meet them again.
"Yeah." Minato nodded. "I'm glad it did not have to go that way."
"That's why…" Rin held her hands to her chest. There was a little bit of tears leaking down from her eyes. "Fayre did it for the Konoha. But not just Konoha, he also did it for the whole Element. In order to protect the Element, he must leave the planet to join the organization. I have watched over him for most of his life with the organization. He was forced to take so many lives that he had no intention to. With each life he took away, his vow to revenge had increased much over times. He was filled with the hatred towards Coola and the organization. I feared he might become so reckless and goes after Coola.
"I worried so much about Fayre. I often wondered when he will attack Coola, and as a result, he indirectly killed millions of Elementians along with the planet! he continued to amaze me every time he took lives away, he held on to his hatred towards them without even laying a hand on the tyrant ONCE! He held his hatred and rage… until now."
Rin wiped her tears off her eyes and looked up at the screen, but tears kept running. "This is going to happen soon. I feared that it might be too soon. He might realize that three syringes won't be enough for him to take on Coola. I don't think it will be enough to defeat him alone!"
"Rin…" Minato spoke, getting her attention to him. "Coola intended to destroy the planet anyways. He has no intention to leave this planet unharmed today. Fayre has no choice."
"He's right." Kushina agreed. "If he waits a little longer, he will have his whole life to blame himself for, just because he did not think he was not strong enough to stop him."
Rin sighed. "You're right. All I can do is to pray that Fayre and others will be able to save the world." Although there may be a relief for her, but she still worried about Fayre and the Element. The Element was in crucial situation right now. There may be moment where they will fail, and everything will be over! That was what she worried about. She stared at Fayre who hopped across the building on way to the whereabout of Coola's location. 'Please… I'm counting on you… Fayre.'
Konohagakure- With Kakashi and Fayre
Kakashi and Fayre were hopping across the roofs on way to see Coola. Right now, Fayre held very determination on his scowl face. All his thoughts were about Coola, and how he would want to make him pay for it. For all lives he was forced to take away…. For all suffer he had to go through while watching Coola and his men slaughtering the people… For all the Elementians who had to suffer through Coola and his men's manslaughter and torture…
'This will be last time I will see you!' Fayre thought, making a vow of his own at this moment. 'I will be the one to end you for once and all…'
His eyes slowly transformed into the Mangekyo Sharingan which consisted of cross on each eye. His eyes were full of hatred. His mind set that he was going to kill him no matter what! He already decided that this would be the day that a certain person that he hated the most would finally die.
His feet landed on the roof just before he jumped into the sky with his eyes facing the destroyed Hokage Mansion.
"COOLA!"
