Chapter Five: Lawful Celebration
"Alright everyone, gather around. I've got something important to discuss with you all." Izuku calls as members from both families begin to crowd around him. All excluding one Frog-loving girl named Tsuyu Asui. "We've got a bit of an important operation to take care of today."
Most members of the family look amongst themselves as they expect what he has to say relates primarily to their operation regarding the Shie Hassaikai and Kai Chisaki. As Izuku clears his throat to prepare himself for his announcement, those around him wait in anticipation for what they were about to be informed of.
"Today's Tsuyu Asui's birthday. She's a key player to this team, and seeing as I've called all of you here early aside from her I need your help to make her special day something to remember this year as thanks for everything that she's done. Obviously as a surprise, though." He states, causing a few of the group to sigh in relief as it wasn't going to be as serious as they expected, and instead was a bit more lighthearted and fun in nature.
"Oh, but how are we gonna keep it hidden from her?" Ochako spoke up, appearing from the crowd. Izuku smirked and pointed to her, causing her to jump in shock at his sudden indication.
"That's where you come in, Ochako! You two are close, so take her around town and just enjoy yourselves while we set up here." Izuku instructs, the group members around them nodding in agreement as she grinned at the opportunity to go out and have fun. "Just don't spill the beans at all. You know how perceptive she is."
Ochako playfully salutes with a giggle, "Yes, sir! You can count on me, Izuku!" She states, running off to get the frog girl out of the hotel. Izuku then turns to the rest of his teammates.
"As for the rest of you. Today's gonna take a lot of effort, but we're going to set up this entire place to be the perfect party for our frog-loving friend. Put your game faces on people!" Izuku instructs, causing the group to shout in motivation, feeling the joy of being able to do something fun for their close friend.
Izuku then checked his watch as he seemed to panic and try to rush over to the elevator, only to be stopped by Kyouka Jirou herself, seemingly confused on his attempt at a quick getaway.
"Where do you think you're going?" Kyouka questioned, stepping in front of the man. Izuku sighed and swiftly moved past her with a light jog before answering her question.
"I've got an important meeting! I'll be back in an hour, help everyone set up until I get back!" He replied, entering the elevator and quickly closing the doors so that he could get to the lobby in time. Whoever he was meeting absolutely hated when people weren't on time.
It was seriously irrational.
"So do you want to explain why you were so late today? And it better be a good reason or I might just have to let my superior know about your little operation." A lilac-haired man spoke, glaring down the greenette sitting across from him. They were in Izuku's private office, each with their own individual coffee's as they sat to talk about what was to come.
"My apologies, Shinsou. We were setting up for a birthday today, Tsuyu turns 22." Izuku stated, warranting an eye roll from the man in front of him. They were about to take down a giant criminal syndicate and they seriously had time to throw a party? What was wrong with these people?
"Right…" Shinsou started, sighing. "Well, I wanted to meet with you to discuss the terms with you about you wanting to work with me and Aizawa. Aizawa said that it's a rational decision, but working with those mercenaries that you wanted might be a bit of a hassle. You do know who they are, don't you?"
Izuku interlocked his fingers and propped his elbows against his desk as he locked eyes with the lilac-haired man, releasing a strained exhale. "Trust me, I know how difficult they are firsthand, but… I have no other choice but to enlist that kind of brutality. That mercilessness… We need it to take down a man like Chisaki." Izuku's expression seemed to have turned strained as he thought about said mercenaries. "It's not favored on my end either, but I need you guys in the force to understand that neither you, nor we in the Midoriya family have the legal permission to just kill like that. They're deeper in the criminal world than we are, so it's necessary."
Shinsou nodded, before rubbing the back of his neck, a habit he picked up from sleeping in such uncomfortable positions all the time. He was a junior detective, and one that had been helped many times by the Midoriya's, so they had quite a lot of favors to call in if necessary. "Fine, I'll try to convince him. But right after the raid, don't expect us not to try and arrest them. They are on our most wanted list at the moment."
Izuku smiled and nodded, "Thank you, Shinsou. I really appreciate it." He said, sipping his coffee. Today was going to be a long day filled with partying, so he'd need the energy. That, and he was pretty sure that the others have probably messed something up since he wasn't around to keep them in check. "More importantly, how are you doing? I've heard that you're excelling quite well under Aizawa's instruction."
"Well, you'd be right." Shinsou stated, smiling as he thought about his father-figure turned mentor. "Doesn't make the work any less gruesome. He still makes me do academy training every day to keep myself in shape."
Izuku nodded, before an idea popped into his head. "Why don't you join us for the party then? It could be a great way for you to relax a bit and everyone would be happy to see you again! It's your day off, isn't it?"
"I couldn't intrude like that, it would be a bit weird… Besides, I don't even have a gift or anything." Shinsou said, becoming self-conscious of if he were to just show up out of nowhere for Tsuyu's birthday party.
"Don't worry about it, you being there would be enough of a gift. Besides, you deserve to have some for once. Oh, but there are a few new people to introduce you to." Izuku informed Shinsou, who was drinking his coffee, to quirk a brow and shoot Izuku a look.
"Don't tell me your family adopted some more orphaned kids." Shinsou deadpanned, causing Izuku to sweatdrop and chuckle. Was that something normal for his family now?
"No, no. It's actually the Jirou family, we're teaming up to work against the Shie Hassaikai. I thought I told you this in my letter?" Izuku questioned, causing Shinsou to look up at the ceiling trying to remember what exactly the letter had said.
"To be honest, I was half-asleep when I read it. But alright, I guess I'll come with you and meet everyone. I assume they're on the lower level?" Shinsou questioned, finishing off his coffee and standing. Izuku nodded and did the same before walking around his desk and joining Shinsou as they walked towards the elevator.
"Yeah, they should still be setting up. I just hope they're not goofing off and ruining things." Izuku said, causing Shinsou to smile and chuckle softly. His family really never changed, they were always a fun-loving crowd, despite how serious their business usually was.
Soon the elevator dinged with the indication that they had reached their designated floor, and Izuku and Shinsou stepped out only to see his crew working hard to set up streamers, and happy birthday signs alike. Sato was at a table decorating a cake, and Mina practically threw glitter everywhere.
"Oh, welcome back Izuku, who's this?" Kyouka questioned as she stepped towards the two men. Shinsou looked the woman up and down, she was definitely the Jirou's latest head honcho, Kyouka Jirou.
"This is Hitoshi Shinsou, he's a friend on the police force." Izuku stated, introducing his tired looking friend. "He's gonna be joining us during the party, so please don't treat him like you did me."
A vein popped up on Kyouka's forehead as she kicked him straight in the shin. "Shut it! I said sorry, fucking green-giant prick!" She exclaimed, before grabbing his tie and pulling him down to her eye-level. "Regardless of that, I need to talk to you. It's important important. I heard something you might want to know about."
Izuku nodded, and gave Shinsou an apologetic look before the two of them walked off to a quiet corner of the room. Shinsou could feel the air between them though; it seemed as if the rivalry between the two families was just a myth.
Those two were definitely hooking up.
"So what did you need to tell me?" Izuku questioned, whispering so that they wouldn't be heard. Kyouka gulped and looked around the room before she saw Mina whisper something into Hagakure's ear and the two of them turned to look at Izuku and Kyouka.
"Mina's been telling people that we're dating. Apparently she saw us together when we went out for lunch yesterday, and her and Ochako have been spreading a rumor." Kyouka replied, causing Izuku to blush and glare at the pinkette who quickly hid at the sight of the man's eyes. Kyouka sighed, the idea must have really disgusted him, or perhaps even proved her worries to be true. He didn't feel the same as her. "I know the idea must disgust you, but I thought I should tell you so we can clear this whole thing up to the others."
Kyouka then peered up at the greenettes face, only to see it displaying mere confusion. "Disgust me? Why would I be disgusted? If anything it's just… E-Embarrassing. That kind of stuff should be left in highschool for Christ's sake. If anything I'd be lucky if it were true." Izuku said, mumbling the last part under his breath.
Unfortunately, Kyouka had heard what the greenette had said, and soon flushed at the man's semi-admittance to thinking it would be good to be with her romantically. She looked up to see the man covering his mouth as his face flushed with the idea of them actually being together romantically.
"W-We'll just have to clear things up if it becomes an issue." Izuku added, removing his hand from his mouth and turning to return to the party setup. Kyouka simply nods, staying silent for fear that her voice would be too shaky to speak to him properly.
Kyouka returned to her position of instructing people as Izuku helped out with the heavy lifting of the cake, or any tables that needed to be moved fairly easily. The man also put in an order for some pizza, and had his kitchen staff bring it down, along with utensils and plates for everyone to use.
Soon as time passed, Izuku received a text from Ochako telling him that her and Tsuyu were making their way downstairs, and that everyone should get ready. The greenette turned to those around him and clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"PLACES EVERYONE, THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY!" He commanded, causing everyone to get into their own separate hiding spots as Izuku shut off the lights and stood idly by as they all waited for Tsuyu to enter.
"I still don't think Midoriya-san is with her, kero. At least not yet." Tsuyu's voice spoke, indicating that her and Ochako arrived. Izuku and Kyouka both blushed at the indication of where their conversation had gone, before the group suddenly shot up, and Izuku turned the light on.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TSU!"
Tsuyu jumped in shock at all of her friends around her smiling brightly, and the room was decorated with party decor. She then turned to Izuku who stepped forward with a contagious smile on his face.
"Happy birthday, Tsuyu-chan. Do you like the surprise?" He questioned, causing Tsuyu to look around the room once more before a cute frog-like smile adorned the girl's face.
"Thank you guys! I almost thought you forgot…" Tsuyu replied, placing a hand to her heart as she exhaled a sigh of relief. Ochako giggled and stepped next to Izuku.
"You can thank Izuku for that, but everyone pitched in to make your day special! Now let's party everyone!" Ochako commanded, warranting a massive "Yeah" from the group.
Tsuyu simply chuckled with a small ribbit as she could now feel that today was a great day indeed.
The group partied for quite some time, enjoying themselves to the fullest as they celebrated the birthday of their long time friend. Izuku leaned back against the wall as he sighed and downed the drink in his hand.
Suddenly a pink-haired woman appeared beside Izuku, grinning devilishly like some madman. This couldn't be good news for Izuku at all. Especially not after what Kyouka had told him earlier.
"So Midoriya… You and Kyouka have been getting along a lot better lately. What's going on there, are you two getting together behind everyone's backs?" The pinkette questioned, causing Izuku to groan in annoyance. Of course that would be what she asked about.
"We're not dating, Ashido." Izuku replied, sighing and pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance. "We went out for a casual bite to eat, why must you jump to such conclusions?"
"Because! Jirou was laughing and smiling more with you than I had ever seen her do in all the years I have known her! There must be something there, and don't you lie to me!" Mina stated, pointing a finger at the greenette and getting up in his face, only to back away when he glared straight into her soul. "E-Er, um… I-If you're okay with sharing that is…"
"I can't say that there's something there, but… I can't say that there isn't either." Izuku replied, ominously. Mina gasped excitedly before another huge smile graced her face.
"OMG! YOU LIKE- MMPH!" Mina shouted out before Izuku covered her mouth and pinned the girl against the wall, his piercing gaze once again sending his pure rage through to her. She quickly stopped talking, and gulped in fear.
"You say anything and I won't hesitate to make an accident happen. Mind your business before I show you the consequences of snooping on a Midoriya." He stated, removing his hand from her mouth. Mina nodded and smiled nervously; this guy was fucking crazy.
"B-But um… I-I really think you should try to be with her! You two have some kind of connection, I can see it! Ochako sees it too. She just has to like you back!" Mina stated, but before Izuku could reply Shinsou suddenly walked beside him and tapped his shoulder to get his attention.
"They're here." He said simply, causing Izuku to take a deep breath before gazing back at the pinkette and indicating that he would be watching her. "And uh… They have a new member. One you might know, unfortunately…"
Izuku whipped his head to Shinsou as he raised his eyebrow. Who the hell did he know that could have joined the mercenaries? There were actually a plethora of people, but he'd just have to see as he went to meet with them.
A meeting with Deshi-Tachi.
And like I promised, here's chapter five! And on Tsuyu Asui's birthday of all days!
With this chapter me and Shady really just wanted to complete a bit more of a... Slice of Life type chapter.
Sorry for it not being as long as the others, but don't worry because as we eventually get to the next chapter it will be just as long as the others!
I hope you guys enjoy and we'll see you in the next chapter!
