Chap.3

Hey guys hope you are doing well. This part is gonna have a bit more progress in the story than the last few chapters. Hope you guys enjoy.

At lunch Kenny seeked out craig. (Kenny doesn't have a phone,so he can't just text him) Karen and Craig's sister were friends. He was hoping that Craig could bring Karen home along with his sister. If he was gonna get Heidi to vent,it would be much better if it was just the two of them. Although Karen was the silent type,her presence would probably throw Heidi off.

After a short conversation that ended with Craig agreeing to have Karen along with his sister,Kenny went over to inform Karen that she would be going home with Craig and his sister. Karen seemed a bit perplexed but she didn't want to push her brother. After all,he always went out of his way to take care of her. So she never questioned it.

Hours later,Kenny was ready to have his little talk with Heidi. Once class let out,Kenny packed his stuff and left the class and waited just outside of it. He was casually chillen just waiting to see her exit. Maybe she had blown it off or forgotten? Kenny just shook those negative thoughts off. All they did was bring him down and of Heidi was gonna talk to him,he needed to be positive. And with that last thought,Kenny felt a tap on his shoulder.

"Hello Kenneth"said Heidi

"Hey Heidi"Kenny responded

The pair began waking down the hallway. Kenny than looked toward Heidi.

"I prefer Kenny by the way."

"Ooo ok. I didn't know if you reserved that name for people you were close with."

"No prob".

The pair exit the school and Kenny looks around and finds Karen with Craig,Tweek,and his little sister. Kenny waves to Karen and she waves back. Heidi develops a confused look.

"Who's that?" Heidi asks

"Ooo it's my sister, she's going to hang out with a friend this afternoon" Kenny reply's.

"Wow I didn't even know you had a sister"

"Ya she's the shy type who doesn't go out of her way to cause a ruckus"

"That's nice"

The two turn away from the school. Kenny wanted to avoid just walking around and just seeming awkward. He decided to create some small talk so he could ease into the topic at hand.

"So Heidi,what do your folks do for a living?"

"My parents run a restraunt near down town. Near some of the bars and some old chinese place"

"Ooo that's pretty cool. I actually help out at that old chinese place for a small wage."

"Really? That's pretty cool that you get to work. My dad has gotten in a few "heated" debates with the owner. Something about competition"

"O ya that's just how (city walk guy)is. Always trying to put down the competition with child labor. He's a good guy."

"Welp my dad would beg to differ"

"I think most people would"

They weren't headed towards anywhere in particular. They were just walking. Eventually they reached a park and decdied to walk through it.

"What about you Kenny,what do your parents do for a living"

Kenny didn't really have a proper answer. Not for a lack of his parents having jobs. He could use any of them. But the most consistent seemed to be meth dealing. Most kids wouldn't want to tell someone they just started talking to.

"My parents….uuuu….well they uuu work… but not in any legal sense of the word…"

Due to his economic status,Heidi guessed that it was less than favorable.

"Alright then."

Kenny decided he would change the subject. But before he could,Heidi cut him off.

"I like the fact that you wore your hood down today…"

"Oooo ummm thanks"

Kenny didn't think that was gonna happen. Heidi was probably just trying to change the topic of the conversation after his weird explanation as to his parents employment.

"I know you've been wearing it for a while,but I like the beanie. Really adds to your character."

"Thank you Kenny"

Heidi was looking at the ground in an awkward and kind of sad way. Kenny decided thier was no beating around the bush. He'd have to go for what was really bothering.

Kenny stopped walking and Heidi followed suit

"I know this may sound blunt and you may not even know the answer but what's the matter?"

"Ummm...I"

Heidi never really prepared answer to this question. She never told any body about her problems as she didn't really have any prior. And even when she did,she would just say she's fine and move on. This was all different. It was a plague that fed of her insecurity and faults. She needed to get this out with someone. She just didn't think Kenny was gonna be it.

"I'm what's wrong with me"

"What does that mean"Kenny replied in slight confusion

"Listen,I know your friends with Cartman and Kyle or whatever. So I'm surprised they haven't said anything to make you ignore my presecence,let alone actually hang out with me"

"I mean,they never talk about you so I'd don't see why they would think let alone tell me that."

"I know Kyle wouldn't but Cartman…"

"Cartman is a sack of shit that only cares about what he's gonna shove down his mouth hole."

Heidi was surprised to hear this. She'd had already thought that Kenny was one of the few that actually held Cartman to higher standard due to the amount of trouble they have gotten into together.

"I thought you two were friends?"

Kenny thought about that statement. He did in fact consider Cartman a friend. He even held him so high as to assume that he even considered him his one true best friend. And he always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. He also came from a broken household just like him. They were the abnormal kids with weird living situations that not everyone could understand or respect. But reguardless of all the times he came back from death,Cartman was always the same. The same asshole doing whatever and killing whoever to get what he wants. And Kenny could see this and stand it no longer. He gave up hoping he would come back to life to find a changed Cartman. Kenny could see was just like him. She had hoped that Cartman could change. She probably even tried to change him herself. Only for it to bite back. And the worst part is that Cartman just viewed her as clatteral damage in his way to be whatever the hell he wanted to do.

"I actually considered him my best friend. I had his back and he had mine. But...I dunno...one day he broke."

Kenny thought about the time Cartman indirectly killed his father and fed him to his half brother. And the moment he found out he did so. And the reaction. Because he was a ginger? Kenny didn't buy it. But Cartman never said otherwise so he didn't have reason to believe otherwise.

"What does that mean?" Heidi asked

"Now you know how I feel. So how do you feel"Kenny said

"I feel confused"

There was a pause. After all that Kenny had gotten only an awkward silence.

"Listen,I get it. You saw a good side to Cartman. You thought you could get rid of the bad side. But that's up to Cartman and Cartman alone. The only way to impact Cartman is to not impact him. Even his best friend couldn't do it. It wasn't something you could just change. It's not your fault. If he ever wants to change, He will do it on his own it's alright. It doesn't make you any weaker. And you made call that you believed was right. And you stuck to your guns. That's what makes you strong. So find something else that will keep you strong. Because if you give up,then Cartman really has won. And didn't even have to do single thing."Kenny said

"But I failed and I-

Heidi was cut off abruptly

"There is no losing to a game you can't win. There is just an outcome"

Heidi had no idea what to say. Kenny was right. It doesn't matter how hard she tried,Cartman was never gonna change unless he absolutely needed to. And Cartman would never allow a need to arise.

"You right…"

Kenny looked at Heidi with suprise.

"I should have just known"

"Heidi,you couldn't have known. He's despetive and does what ever it takes to accomplish his goals. That not your fault. You just tried. And,I won't ever hold it against you. It really shows how tenatious you are and I admire that."

Heidi knew she had made a mistake with Cartman. But she didn't know that when she first got with him. She just felt she needed to show that through fixing Cartman. And Kenny had noticed that. That's all she ever wanted. Was someone to notice that she could reap what she sowed.

"Thank you Kenny...I've been needing to hear that for a long time."

"No problem. I'm sorry it took so long for someone to-

And before he could even react Heidi had him in a hug. This was a suprise to him. They barely even knew each other,but Heidi don't know how else to thank him. Kenny didn't know what to do at first, but then slowly gave in to the hug.

After a few seconds Heidi, broke off the hug. They just looked at each other with a slight blush across their cheeks. Kenny noticed that Heidi was whipping away tears.

"Ummm...Heidi,are u-

"I'm fine I just didn't know how to thank you. Sorry if I caught you by suprise. Just meant a lot to hear that after so long"

"D-don't worry about it"

After she finished wiping away her tears,Heidi and Kenny kept walking through the park. It eventually led out to a neighborhood. Heidi stopped and turned to Kenny.

"I told my parents that I would meet them at the restaurant"Heidi said

"Ooo ok. I'll see you around. And Heidi.."

"Ya?"

"If you are ever looking for someone to talk to or if you ever get lonely,don't be a stranger,alright?"

"Oo of course,here I'll give you my number"

Heidi pulls out her phone and begins to pull up he information. Kenny kind of just observes her efficiency with it.

Heidi then looks at him with confusion.

"What's the matter?"she said

Kenny then gives a face of embarrassment.

"I don't own...a phone"

Heidi,you fool. His poverty was literally only one of the few things she knew about him.

"Ooo..O my gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to flex anything on you"

"It's okay. If you need me for anything,just cross the tracks. But don't cross if you hear people arguing."

"Umm ok.."

"Or at night"

"Alright"

"Or of you smell something akin to skunk"

"..."

"Or just say something if you see me at school,alright?"

"Alright,see you around Kenny,thanks for everything today."

"Ya, No problem."

And with that Kenny and Heidis day together was over. Both with a new understanding of each other. But they will soon find that they will soon find more than a understanding within each other.

Sweet...all done. I tried my best to make this as a natural as possible without to much exposisition. But I really wanted to have these characters to some set up idea of the other and have that be brought down by thier true emotions. Feel free to critique and review.
