Chap.8
Hey guys, hope you are all doing well. I'm looking forward to writing this chapter as there is gonna be the start of some underlying tension with the boys. It is also gonna be a little longer than any of the other chapters so far. Hope you all enjoy and don't forget to review and critique.
It was the Friday of the week after Kenny and Heidi had finished their project. Kenny and Heidi had continued talking and getting to know one another while in class. Heidis friends began to make suggestions towards Heidi and Kenny. Heidi just ignored them. She really just enjoyed Kenny's company being able to talk to someone. Kenny thought the same as well. And ever since Heidi had a glimpse into Kenny's home life,Kenny felt more comfortable talking about it and was more honest.
"Kenny you know pop tarts are not a sustainable source of calories right?" Heidi said
"It's fine,I've been living off of them my entire life."
Kenny replied
"I'm just sayin, I don't have a problem loaning you and/or Karen some money for something little extra."
"Well I mean...that doesn't sound so bad."Kenny had a bit of smile on face. Probably because he had other plans for that money.
than interupted them
" and , do you need help with something." said with frustration
"No mam...thank you though."Heidi said
"Heheh more like Mr and Mrs McCormick am I right?"
Bebe chimed within earshot of Kenny and Heidi. Both of them blushed.
ignored the comment
"Just make sure to stay on task, alright?"
"Okay"Kenny states
The rest of the day finish's as planned with Kenny feeling board within the last few minutes before class let out. It was Friday and no one had plans. Kenny wanted to hangout with friends but everyone had plans.
Kenny then looked to his right to see Heidi getting ready to pack. Kenny and Heidi had never just casually hung outside of school before. They had the whole talk about Cartman and when they had tried to work at his house. But the Cartman talk was more like therapy
rather than two people hanging out and Karen was with them at Heidis house. Kenny decided to shoot for it. It's not like he was trying to go on a date or anything. Just to go grab a snack and talk
"Hey Heidi! You doin anything after school?"kenny asked
Heidi looked towards Kenny.
"I mean I said I would help out at the restaurant but I can help out with that later on. Why?" Heidi responded
"I was just wondering if you would like to grab a bite to eat."
"Honestly, That sounds nice. I'm down. Where were you thinking?"
"I know you pops wouldn't be happy about this, but I was thinking a quick bite at city walk. I get food from there for free."Kenny said with embarrassment.
"Ummm okay. I've never been there before so it should be an interesting experience."
"Sweet."
"Will Karen be joining us?"
"No, she's actually gonna be at a friends house starting today and through out the weekend."
"Ooo good for her."
And with the bell to end the school day, Heidi and Kenny made their way to city walk. Along the way Heidi and Kenny continued to talk about thier interests and lives.
Kenny and Heidi finally reach City Walk. They enter the restaurant with Heidi noticing a rancid smell. It reminded her of fish combined with fried goods. A man was at the register and Kenny proceeded to greet him.
"Aaaa Dennis...how you are you doing my boy." said
"Hello sir,Im fine. I was just looking to nab some grub with my friend here." Kenny replied
"Oooo...is she looking for a chance to join the child labor force?"
"Hahahaha no, at least I don't think so."
They looked towards Heidi and she shook her head in disagreement.
gave Kenny some left over City chicken and Heidi some City beef. After saying their thanks, they headed towards the side walk. Since they wanted to enjoy the day, they decided to sit on the curb of the sidewalk and continue talking as they ate.
"Ya and then he jerked off into their food."Kenny said
Heidi gagged as she heard this. She then swallowed the food that was on her mouth.
"Wow...didn't think that story was gonna go in that direction." Heidi said
"Well ya. They all had enough and that was the only compromise they could find to put up with the Yelp reviewers like Cartman." Kenny replied
"Ya...I guess it's like you said. Effect him by not effecting him.."
"I guess so."Kenny said in a melancholy tone.
Heidi noticed the tone change.
"I'm sorry. We always end up back on that idiot." Heidi said
"It just sucks ya know...I wish I could see what happened or do something about it but all I would get his wrath. You probably get more than anyone."
"Ya."
Kenny felt awkward for changing the subject from a funny punch line to talking about the lost cause that was Cartman.
"Well he isn't here now and that's what matters."Kenny said
Heidi looked towards Kenny with a smile. She then began to look into his deep, blue eyes. Heidi had gotten use to Kenny without his hood on. But she had never really noticed his eyes though. They reminded her of the ocean. They looked like they were limitless. Heidis face changed into a face of astoundment and intrigue.
"Ummm Heidi?"kenny said
Heidi snapped out of it. She was blushing now. She hadn't realized that she was just staring at Kenny.
Heidi quickly looked away and decided she needed to change the topic.
"Oooo uuuu ya….well the chinese food was good."
"Oooo ya, has been doing it for a while so.."
It was clear that the atmosphere was now awkward. Heidi needed a scape goat. She was into Kenny but she didn't want things to be awkward as she did enjoy being around him.
"Ummm ya...Speaking of food, I think I should get to my folks….which happens to be right there…" Heidi stated feeling embarrassed while pointing to her parents restaurant.
Kenny found this abrupt but he wasn't gonna hold her against her will.
"Ooo Alright."Kenny said
Kenny stood up with Heidi following suit.
"Well, all see you later."Kenny said with a smile
"Ya, see you later."Heidi replied with her smile of her own.
They proceeded to hug when they heard a crunch between them.
Kenny and Heidi looked downward and noticed a box of chinese food between them. Their jackets now had grease stains, noodles, and chicken on them.
"Dammit, my bad...I don't even know how that end up there." Kenny said
"It's okay,I don't normally wear a jacket when I work anyway."Heidi responded
They both proceeded to take off their jackets. Heidi was wearing a purple t-short with a flower on it while Kenny was wearing a plain white shirt. Both proceeded to wrap their jackets around their waists.
Kenny then made sure that the box of City chicken was far way from them.
Kenny then held his arms apart.
"Well...Wanna do over?"
Heidi looked at him with a smile.
"Sure."
The two proceeded to hug and broke it off after a few seconds.
"Next time, it's on me." Heidi said
"Alright."Kenny responded knowing fully well that he don't pay for anything.
"See you later ken."
"Good bye Heidi."
And with that Heidi walked towards her parents restaurant. Kenny smiled and then went to grab his box of chinese food. There was still some chicken in it and he was not gonna waste it.
As he began to walk away from City walk and enjoy the rest of his chinese, Kenny heard someone call his name.
"Hey Kenny! You doin anything?"
Kenny looked back to see Stan,Kyle, and Cartman walking his way. He waited a second for them to catch up. He deposed to them when they did.
"Nothing right now. Why?" Kenny said
"We were gonna go to Cartman's house and play some video games like old times. You in?" Stan said
"Hell ya, like old times."
Kenny grouped up with them and began to walk towards cartman's house. The boys proceeded to talk about the games they wanted to play with Cartman denying every single one except the ones he was good at. Kenny proceeded to let them in on what he was doing at City Walk and he said he spilled the food he had on himself and that's why he wasn't wearing a jacket. Excluding the part about Heidi. He didn't want to bring her up in front of Cartman so he wouldn't get pissed off and so that he didn't upset Kyle.
"Geez Kenny, you are such a cluts."Stan said.
"Ya I guess." Kenny said with a smile.
"He can't help it. Sloppy as every other poor person."
"Eee whatever fatass."Kenny responded.
Kenny felt happy. He just got to hang out with Heidi. Somebody that he feels whole with. And now he gets to hang out with his buddies like the old times. Kenny couldn't have been happier. But little did he, know this wasn't gonna last for long.
"So tell me poor boy, is that chinese rat paying you enough mafia money to pay for two meals now?"
Kenny was confused by this at first. Did Cartman expect him to grab some food for him?
"Because having to buy food for that bitch must be expensive." Cartman said
Kenny was still confused. He thought they hadn't seen him with Heidi. And Cartman knew better than to mentioned Karen in that way.
"I guess that bitch likes to waste both time and money, doesn't she?"Cartman added
Kenny now knew what Cartman was referring to. He knew Heidi was with him earlier. Reguardless if Cartman saw them leaving together at school or if it was before she said good bye, he knew.
Kenny needed to defend himself. Not to shut Cartman down but to not upset Kyle. Like he noted earlier, he still needed to talk to with him about it.
"Alright listen man, it isn't what you think. And unlike you, she actually seems care about matters to me and I care about what happens to her."Kenny said
Cartman then looked at Kenny with a smile.
"Right, care like you." Cartman said with a smirk and a hint of sarcasm
Kenny caught the sarcasm
"What's that suppose too mean?" Kenny said
"Ooo you know, how you always seem to disappear. Just randomly coming and going as you please. Because you care about us so much, right? And then when we think you are gonna stick around...poof...your gone. Tell me Kenny, when are you gonna leave on her?"
"Shut your mouth Cartman." Kenny said
Kenny furrowed his brow as he said this
Cartman put his hands up.
"I'm just saying,We've accepted it as an inevitablity. You should just make sure that she has as well."Cartman said
Kenny's anger was getting the better of him.
"Alright, listen here. I've got my own shit and you know that. Also,Heidi and I are free to make any decision we want. Without your opinion, alright? Now, shut your mouth about the bull shit or I'll shut it for you."Kenny said with anger.
"I mean you can shut my mouth...but will you shut his…" Cartman says as he looks towards Kyle.
Kenny and Stan look confused and looked at Kyle as well.
"C'mon khal, you feel similarly don't you." Cartman
Kyle was looking at the ground with a blank expression. He then raised his head to meet Kenny in the eyes.
"Well...he isn't wrong.."Kyle said
Kenny was visably shocked and confused.
"Wait,What? You agree with Cartman?" Kenny said.
"I don't agree with Cartman. I do agree with the point he is making. We've been friends for years and you just volley between us and whatever else your doing. It's sucks when you aren't consistently around. Like we don't mean anything to you. And is it a coincidence you change your style and start talking with Heidi around the same time? It just seems like...like…" Kyle stuttered.
"Like what?" Kenny questioned
"Like your changing for her. Someone you just started talking to."Kyle had a look of dissapont on his face.
Kenny then proceeded to look down and notice his parka around his waist. He then ran his hand through his hair and noticed that it seemed more well kept than normal. Was he doing this stuff indirectly? He wasn't changing. At least not on his own intuition, and Heidi hadn't made him do any of that.
"It's almost like...you were willing to change for her. But for your 'friends' that you've known for years, you weren't. You never stuck around for us. Because...it just seems...you never cared enough." Kyle said
Kenny now understood the problem. There must be a gap of time where he doesn't come back to life and it seems like he's just avoiding them or not wanting to be around them.
"It's gotten so frustrating to the point where it's just like if you aren't gonna stick around, then...just don't come back. And we don't want it to be like that Kenny."
Out of all the people say that to him,Kenny didn't think he would hear it from Kyle. Maybe his parents or even Cartman but not Kyle. He actually really held Kyle pretty high as one of his friends. He admired his intelligence and bravery against Cartman. So this kind of hurt Kenny. After all, he did originally in trust with the secret of mysterion.
Kenny couldn't just apologize and move on. He felt bad but he had no control of when and where we died and came back.
"Kyle...it's not that simple.."Kenny said
"Clearly not for us. But I guess Heidi is special, isn't she.." Kyle said with slight sarcasm and a serious look
Kenny then looked away from Kyle and then towards the ground and back at his friends.
"Fine then...I'll just leave. Hopefully I'll see you all around. "Kenny said with a dampend mood.
Kenny walked around the boys and proceeded to walk home.
"Kenny wait!" Stan called out.
"Let him go dude. He needs this to sink in." Kyle said
Stan then looked towards Cartman who had a slight smirk.
"You wanted this, didn't you?" Stan said with a serious look.
Cartman once agin put his hands up in defense.
"Kenny was obviously lying and I called him out. He was hiding something from us. His quote on quote friends. And if we didn't expose what we're thinking, it would have just have blown up worst than it did. I really did everyone a favor."
Cartman was right. Kyle and Stan didn't want to admit it but they knew. They would just have to hope that Kenny would learn.
Not long after,Kenny arrived at his house and went straight to his room. Kenny didn't bother with his parent and his siblings since they were gone.
Kenny then entered his room and threw his bag beside his bed. He then collapsed onto his bed. He rolled over on to his back and looked up at the ceiling. It was torn similar to the rest of the house. Nothing special
" It's not that simple, I can't change my purgatory. And it's not like I can explain it because they won't remember. One day...I've got to get to the bottom of this." Kenny thought to himself.
Kenny then thought back to Craig. He needs answers and he probably wasn't gonna get them as Kenny McCormick. But rather as mysterion. His mind skipped back to what had happened with his friends.
"Also, since when does Kyle take cartmans side? Have they been talking about this behind my back? Does Stan feel the same way?" Kenny thought
Kenny needs to have a talk with them. Not so much Cartman. It was obvious to Kenny that Cartman had wanted this to happen. For what reason, was unbenounced to him.
With all the tax of school, his family, and his friends, Kenny decided it was best to just sleep it off. And when he awoke that he should dawn his alter ego and get some of answers he seeks.
"What...the hell...does Craig know?" Kenny said to himself before dozing off.
Hours later(3-5)
Kenny woke up in a drowsy haze. He had tried waking up early and trying to be mysterion before school but he had to work into it and had led to a few of his deaths.
After a glass of water and some frozen waffles,Kenny was ready for his night out.
Since no one appeared to be home,Kenny dawned his outfit and made sure he had enough fireworks and a full lighter. He then kept through his window and made his way towards the cartman residents. The sun had gone down an hour ago and twilight was quickly fading into night. The moon hung in the sky with a crescent shape.
Kenny wasn't going to incite a conversation, rather this would be an interesting opportunity to see what he had been missing out on.
He decided it would be best if he looked through the back to see what they were doing.
Kenny peeked in to see Cartman with a microphone as Kyle and Stan were playing on guitar controllers. This reminded him of when Stan and Kyle had begun to go pro with guitar hero. It brought a smile to Kenny's face.
Reguardless of how they felt towards him,Kenny couldn't deny that these three boys were his true friends. He knew that they deserved an explanation. Kenny just needed to find a way to present one.
As Kenny was about to turn away to see which residents of South Park needed from him, he noticed a picture frame on cartman's wall. It was picture with Cartman in the middle with Kyle and Stan on each of his sides. And with Kenny jumping onto cartman's back.
This to made Kenny smile. But as Kenny began to stare at it longer, he began to realize what he was. They all seemed so close in that picture. But now, he was staring at the other three boys through a window.
Kenny then looked at his own reflection and the boys who were having fun on guitar hero. Kenny then blew on the window to fog it up. He then drew two x's over his own eyes.
"Wow, If my life wasn't already depressing enough."Kenny said to himself.
Was much as Kenny loved being sad,he had other things to do tonight. He turned away from the window and began to make his way to downtown. He took his usual route that involved an alley way and climbing a ladder.
He started running across roof tops when he heard some shout "Gotcha Myst!"
Kenny stopped dead in his tracks and peaked over the side of the building. He found Heidi with a phone pointed up towards him. She had a smirk on her face.
Kenny had no choice but to indulge. He didn't mind having people take pictures of him. But Kenny didn't know how far they would be willing to go get a picture. That could entail inter fearing with his hero work. Kenny decided it was best to nip this now so that she could never get caught in the cross fire.
Kenny proceeded to scale down the face of the restaurant with great athleticism. He was even able to pull off a super hero landing. Heidi was very impressed by this.
"Hello agin...Guess you really wanted a photo huh?" Kenny said in his gruff voice.
"Well of course you are South Parks only true hero."Heidi said with a smile.
"I appreciate the complement. But,Imma need you not to take photos of me."
"Oooo why is that?"
"I've got a few enemies. I don't need them putting pieces together and planning some kind of ambush."
" And I'm gonna help them pieces together? Because I'm plotting against you?Really..? Don't be such a cynic Myst."
"There she does with that name agin"Kenny thought to himself.
"They wouldn't care about your compliance, They would take it from you through any means necessary ."Mysterion said.
"Well,I'm tougher than I look."Heidi said with a hand on her hip.
"Still,I'm not gonna take the chance of innocence getting hurt regardless if that's you or others around you. So please,just keep the photos to a minimum and vague."
"So I can keep it?"
"Yes you can but be sure to keep it to yourself. And no more pictures."
"Alright."
Kenny then turned his attention back to the face of the building. It was Heidis restaurant and he was getting ready to scale it when Heidi called for him.
"Wait Myst!"
"God dammit not this agin."Kenny thought to himself
"Yes?"he replied
"Thank you...and thanks for the words from before. They've really helped.."Heidi said with sincerity.
"I'm glad to hear that."Kenny replied with a smile
As Kenny was about to leave he heard a voice.
"Heidi? Where are you?" A mans voice called out
Kenny had guessed that this must have been her dad
"Coming daddy."
And before Kenny could react and turn around, Heidi put a hand on his shoulder. And as Kenny had reacted to this, Heidi planted a kiss on Kenny's right cheek.
Kenny was blushing as was Heidi. Heidi giggled a little bit and began to walk away.
"See ya later Myst." She said while waving
Kenny was stunned and standing in place with a shocked expression. As he saw her walk way,Kenny began to shake it off. As great as it was to be recognized for his actions,Kenny needed to make sure South Park was kept in check and he needed answers from Craig.
Kenny then scaled the building and proceeded to make his way to the police station.
Well folks there it is. Another marvlous chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it. This chapter took a little bit longer to write because I had a lot planned for it and I didn't want to burn out on it.
