Chap.15

Hey y'all, hope you are doing well. I'm really hoping to get these chapters out a little more often. I feel like I'm beginning to adopt a style I like while writing so hopefully that will help. I appreciate all those that have stuck with the story so far. I don't really know when I'll be able to fully finish the fic itself. But I do have an ending that I'm really looking forward to executing. I just hope you all find it as interesting as I do for our beloved characters. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter.

To say Kenny felt sick was an understatement. He felt like his stomach and head were combust within him. And as someone who has been disemboweled a few separate times, Kenny definitely had notes to compare the pain to. But he had to put it all aside as he had little sister to make up with. As well as apologize and thank the girls that helped him last night.

After slowly getting ready, Kenny makes his way to the kitchen to see Karen eating a pop tart.

"Uuuu hey Kare.."Kenny said as he took a seat at the table.

"Hey Kenny."Karen replied

Karen was upset that her brother didn't come home late but decided that being resentful wasn't worth her time. Her brother had done a lot so she couldn't really stay mad at him.

Also,Karen did notice that her brother was not looking his best. He seemed a bit looser than normal and was paler than normal. This raised concern from Karen.

"Are you alright?"Karen asked her brother

"I..uuu...had a rough night."Kenny answered

"Do you need to stay home?"Karen said

"No, it's nothing I can't shake off."Kenny relied with little hesitation.

Kenny knew he made a mistake yesterday. And today was the day he was gonna make it up to Karen. But Karen couldn't help but feel bad for her brother. And that she couldn't help but feel that she was somewhat the cause of it.

"Are you sure Kenny?"Karen asked

"I'm fine Kare. Thanks for your concern though."Kenny said with a reassuring smile.

As per usual, Kenny was putting up a front for Karen.

"Okay, I'm gonna keep getting ready for school then. I'll see you when I'm done, k?"Karen said

"Alright Kare, See you then."

Karen finished her pop tart and walked towards her room. After she left the room, Kenny dropped his smile and laid his head against the table. What the hell was in those brownies? The only thing he seemed to remember was throwing up on the sidewalk with Heidi putting a hand on his back. And Butters...poor butters. For Cartman and Kenny, this kind of thing isn't very surprising and they could get out of school really easily. But Butters is that one kid that was never absent. Firstly, because Butters prides himself on it. Secondly, even if he didnt, his parents wouldn't let him unless it was absolutely necessary. This is one instance where Kenny could say that he was happy that his parents didn't care if he went to school or not.

As Kenny thought began to change to him lamenting on the parenting styles of his parents compared to others, he heard someone else coming down the hallway. Kenny perked his head up in a slow manner.

"Jesus, you look like shit."Kevin said

"Morning to you Kevin."Kenny replied

Kevin went into the fridge and pulled out a box of leftovers. He pulls out the same chair Karen was sitting in earlier. Kenny thought it was ironic.

"So, what was it?"Kevin said as he flipped the box open.

"What?"Kenny responded

"What did you do to make you look like ass?"

"I ate a hemp brownie. I don't even understand what that means."

Kevin looked at his brother in shock.

"Damn Ken, How many milligrams?"Kevin asked

"I don't know? I wouldn't even know what that means. I just had like 3 to 5 brownies. Can't exactly remember. What the hell is a hemp brownie?"Kenny said

"Dear god! I'm not gonna get into the specifics but it's basically a weed brownie. Didn't know it was your thing Ken."

"It's not…"

"O ya, I forgot. Cheesing is your thing."

Kenny had put down the use of any intoxicating substances for a few reasons. The first was no matter how much he did, he never got to see the breast princess's sweet rack. Also, Kenny wanted to be a better role model for Karen. His brother had dabbled with drugs but never got hooked. It was always something that Kevin tended to hang over Kennys head when they got into a squabble.

"Ha Ha no.." Kenny said as he lowered his head toward the table.

Kevin finished his "breakfast" while Kenny just had his head on the table. They didn't indulge in conversation and Kenny wasn't in the mood to do so anyway. Still, Kenny did wish that the infrequent times he saw his brothers weren't so weird. They either bickered and Karen would have to de escalate or they just sat there and never talked. But it wasn't always like this for the Mccormick brothers. They actually used to hang out and have each other's backs when their parents were on a tirade. They even shared the same philosophy when it came down to taking care of Karen. But as the years kept passing, Kevin became more independent and began relying on his own street philosophy. Kenny just assumed that it was just a puberty thing, but maybe there was more to it than that. But Kevin would never tell Kenny that directly. Good or bad.

As Kevin dumped the box and made his way back to his room, Kenny perked his head up and turned around in his chair.

"Why can't you just ever say hello? That's all I ever want to hear for you! I don't expect it from many people but you are one of the few I do!" Kenny said

Kevin turned his head to catch Kenny in his peripheral vision.

"Because Kenny, I don't give a shit what you want to hear like your little friends. I'll tell you what you need to hear."Kevin answered

"And I needed to hear the same BS about how I'm a shitty role model?"Kenny added

Kevin smirked at his brother and just walked away. Kenny rolled his eyes and put his head.

"Fuckin asshole."Kenny said to himself.

After Kenny finally mustered up the ability to get up and make something to eat. But he was still very sluggish and had a pretty bad headache. After barely finishing up the rest of his morning routine, Kenny was met by his sister at the door.

"You ready Kenny?"Karen asked

"Ready as I'll ever be…"Kenny responded

The pair began walking with Kenny stumbling behind his sister. Karen noticed this.

"Are you sure that you are good to go to school today Kenny? It's alright if you're not. No one will get mad.."Karen said

"I'm fine Kare, just a bit sluggish."Kenny said

The pair continued to walk through the snow when Kenny tripped when his foot got caught in a patch of snow that was deeper than expected. He was barely able to catch himself.

Karen heard a thud and looked back to see her brother bent over on the ground.

"Kenny!"Karen shouted

"I'm fine, I just fell."Kenny responded as he picked himself up in a slow manner.

Karen then ran next to her brother and grabbed his hand and began to lead him. This action shocked Kenny at first. He was always the one to lead the way but his night prior changed that.

"Come on. If you come, we can't be late. Heidi would be upset and you wouldn't want that, would you?"Karen said

Kenny just smiled and allowed his sister to help him up and direct him.

This action made Kenny happy. Not so much about the comment about Heidi, but what Karen was showcasing now. It showed that Karen wasn't afraid to take charge and do what needs to be done. It showed that Kenny's methods were working.

"In your face Kevin."Kenny thought to himself

The pair arrived at the bus stop to see Stan,Kyle, and Ike at the bus stop. Kenny smiled weakly to himself. He knew that Cartman was probably gonna pull some shit to stay home. And that was the only way a headache of argument could be avoided that would probably be ignored by Kyle calling Cartman out.

Unfortunately, Karen wanted the opposite of her brother. She wanted to thank Cartman for the day before and hopefully find a way for them to talk and hang out again. But, it looks like whatever happened yesterday forced Cartman to stay home. Karen just hoped that Kenny wasn't the reason.

Kyle and Stan looked to greet the McCormicks when they saw Kenny looking like he crawled out of a hole and died(not that he hadn't before).

"Jesus dude, what happened to you?"Kyle asked

"Hehe well, I had an interesting night."Kenny responded

"In what regard?"Stan questioned

"Well lets just say I had new drugs experience…"Kenny said

"Your not cheesing again, are you?"Kyle said

Karen looked up at Kenny with concern. His friends had a similar look plastered on their faces.

"No. Of course not. That ain't me anymore. This was a one time thing that happened due to a fluke."Kenny assured

"What do you mean one time?"Kyle said

"Well…"Kenny began

Kenny told them everything, well most everything. He left out the part about confronting Cartman due to Karen's presence and just said he ran into them. He told them about the brownies and the karaoke and the girls.

"O my god dude! I didn't know that shit could do that."Stan proclaimed

"Well it can, and all I can say is zero out of ten, would never do it again...maybe"Kenny said

"Poor butters...I hope he decided not to come to school today.."Kyle said

"Ya, so do I."Kenny added.

The bus then pulled up in front of the boys and the boys and their respective siblings began to board it to find a blonde boy in a teal shirt sitting in a seat by himself. Probably due to the fact that he looks like a zombie.

"I can't believe it, they actually made him come."Stan said

"That should be illegal."Kyle said

The boys made their way to him; they just stared at him as they walked by with the exception of Kenny. He put his hand on the butters shoulder.

"It's okay buddy, I'm feeling it too."Kenny said

Butters cocked his head towards Kenny. He looked even more terrifying up close. Kenny just relinquished his hand from his shoulder and made his way to an open seat.

Eventually, the McCormick siblings took their seats. Karen looked out the window as Kenny leaned his head against the seat and shut his eyes, hoping that his headache would go away.

Karen could see the reflection of her brother in the window and turned her head to look at him. He liked like he was in pain so she wrapped her arms around one of his

Kenny opened his eyes to see his sister and smiled. Kenny put a hand on her head and said "Thanks Kare"

Kenny closed his eyes and the bus made its way to school. The bus seemed a bit quieter than normal. Probably due to the fact that Cartman wasn't there. Let's just say Kenny appreciated that this morning.

The bus arrived with all the students exiting and making their way to the entrance of South Park elementary. A few select individuals needed a bit of help getting off.

Kyle and Stan made sure Butters was okay and Karen helped her brother.

"I'm fine Karen, I can make it on my own."Kenny said while Karen led him to the entrance.

"No, you don't feel good Kenny. And someone needs to make sure your gonna be alright."Karen responded

"Kare listen-"

"Nope, not listening."Karen said abruptly

Kenny raised an eyebrow. He could understand where his sister was coming from but he didn't want to worry her. Not after everything he had done and said yesterday.

"Well….you can't be glued to my hip all day. You have to go to class."Kenny said

"I know, but somebody else will."

Kenny developed a confused look. Karen grabbed hold of his hand and began to lead him again. Kenny wanted to retort but his head was killing him too much to conjure a thought of what to say. Maybe it was a sign that maybe he just didn't need to say anything and just let Karen take the lead.

Meanwhile, a girl with a red beanie was grabbing the necessary items for the day while her friends recounted the night before.

"I see. So Heidi, When is the wedding?"Red said

Heidi rolled her eyes.

"It's not even like that."Heidi said while closing her locker.

"O come on. We know what we saw last night. What happened between you and Kenny was not just some friendship shit."Bebe added

"Well...it is so just give it a rest."Heidi followed up

The girls around her sighed mentally as they heard Heidi's denial.

"Speaking of last night, that explains why butters looks worse than normal."Bebe said

"I know right?"Nicole added

Heidi's mind left the conversation after that and began to think about last night. Kenny had opened up to her and shown vulnerability. Sure there was the time that she had gone to his "home" but Kenny had done the opposite and was set on being strong for the sake of his family. How many sides did Kenny have? And how often did he show them to others? Had Heidi been shown more than any other person? Did that make her special? Did that make her special to him?

Heidi thought about that last question that still loomed in her head. What if she was that to Kenny? And how far did that go? Just friends or something more?

Heidi began to blush when she felt something pull against the arm of her jacket. Heidi turned with shock and surprise.

Karen was holding her brother's hand. Kenny was holding his head and was looking at Heidi. With the thoughts she was just having, Heidi couldn't help but blush.

Karen pulled her brother close and exchanged her hand with Heidi's. Heidi could feel her face turn red and Kenny just kept a hand to his head.

"He's yours now...take care of him please."Karen said

"O-okay."Heidi said awkwardly

Karen smiled

"Thank you."Karen responded as she began to walk away and head to class.

Heidi was still blushing when she felt a hand grab her shoulder. She looked back to see her friends winking at her. She shook them off and turned her attention back to Kenny.

"Ummm Hey Kenny, are you feeling better from last night?"Heidi asked

Kenny looked up at Heidi.

"Well...ummm..no..I think I need a nap."Kenny replied

Heidi rarely seemed to agree with her friends but she did agree with them that Kenny was an attractive boy. That said, She definitely didn't think that he was looking his best.

The bell for class rang and the girls left Heidi and Kenny to their own devices. Bebe winked at Heidi in a manner similar to last night. Heidi turned her attention back to Kenny.

"Im sorry to hear that...I'll help get you to class."Heidi said as she turned to lead Kenny to class

"No."Kenny responded

Heidi looked back at Kenny with a stoic look.

"Cmon Kenny, You don't need to be strong in front of me like that. It's okay to have someone help you. And besides, I should have walked home with you yesterday. Letting you go by yourself didn't sit right with me."Heidi said

Kenny widened his eyes. Heidi kept her serious look as Kenny started at her. Kenny weakly smiled.

"Alright."Kenny said

Heidi smiled at Kenny's response and began to lead him to class. Hands still held.

"Damn, you two are farther along than we thought."One of the girls said from far away.

Heidi blushed and let go of Kennys hand and began to lead him to class by putting a hand on his shoulder.

(several hours later.)

As the hours passed, Kenny began to feel better. Heidi was the main reason for it as she covered for him. She took notes in class for him as well as did most of the assignments in class while Kenny just laid his head on the table and kind of just mellowed his day away.

And a full belly during lunch also helped, thanks to Kyle and Stan of course giving a little bit of their lunch to Kenny. And the lack of Cartman meant no real, loud arguments that could worsen Kenny's headache. And it meant that Heidi and Kenny could hang out openly.

As the school day ended, so did Kenny's time with Heidi. Kenny was feeling better with only a lingering headache and fatigue being his only issue. He could get around much better than this morning. Not really needing any help.

Heidi gave Karen her brother back and they said their goodbyes. Kenny led his sister home this time to make up for this morning. They eventually arrived home with Kenny making sure their parents were not an issue.

The coast was clear and Karen and Kenny made their way to their rooms.

"I'll be up later Kare. I'm just gonna sleep this off."Kenny said

"Okay Kenny, feel better."Karen replied

The siblings went their separate ways and Kenny made his way to his room. Kenny chucked his back pack to the ground and fell onto his mattress. He swung his arm to grab his backpack. He ended up just grabbing the zipper with his pointer finger and thumb.

As he undid the zipper, a few papers fell out. They were notes from class with a certain name on the top of each. It said Heidi Turner with a heart over the last I in her first name. The thought made Kenny smile and began to remember.

(Hours before.)

"You don't have to take notes for me Heidi...It's my punishment for being an idiot."Kenny said while he laid his head against the desk

"It's okay, I can just take pictures with my phone and just give you the physical one. And I know you hate it but you look pitiful."Heidi responded

Kenny smiled to himself and looked up to Heidi

"Thanks…"Kenny said

Heidi smiled

"Of course."Heidi replied

(Present time.)

Kenny brought himself back to the present situation of him laying on his bed. Kenny rolled on to his back and stared at the sealing. There was a crack in the corner and mold developing near the doorway.

"Same old house."Kenny thought

Kenny closed his eyes and exhaled. He began to let thoughts run through his head. It had been more than a month since He had asked Heidi that question. Kenny had never realized how much time was in a month. How someone could come and change your life. It was for the better right? He was happier and so was Heidi. He helped pull her out of slump and she gave him something to look forward to. That's what makes a friendship. Or does it make something more?

Kenny faded into sleep.

Another chapter finished y'all. I hope you all enjoyed it. I was actually gonna make it a lot longer but I ended cutting back a bit so I could make certain parts have a greater impact. Anywhale, I hope you all take care and I hope to have the next chapter out soon. If you would consider reviewing and critiquing below, it would mean a lot. I hope you all have a nice day(or night based on where you live
