Chap.17

Hey y'all, hope you all are doing well. This chapter is gonna be a bit more on the gritty side in terms of character. We are gonna see a side of Kenny that we have only seen literal flashes of across every property of the South Park show and only once or twice in the show itself. It's not really his style as he has had his moral low points and isn't one to normally point out others moral low points. Kenny also never loses his composure, even when backed against the wall (which is kind of weird when you think about the situations he's been stuck in. No normal human being would be able to deal with that kind of stuff..). He also isn't very brash compared to the other boys. But let's just say the person he is gonna be lecturing deserves it. Also I'm gonna be incorporating some P.O.V changes this chapter. Only reason is to make the story make a bit more sense. Any whale I hope you all enjoy the chapter. It would also be nice if you would consider reviewing and critiquing down below.

It was test day for Kenny's fourth grade class. Kenny was never one to study but he had a group of reliable friends who weren't afraid to help him crunch before tests and quizzes. He normally did this minute birdies tests. Lucky he had the girl he was maybe I love with. She had given him the necessary notes the day before.

Kenny managed to finish the test before most of the students in the class. Which is unusual for him. It was only the fourth grade after all. How hard could a test really be?

Kenny turned his head to see Heidi writing something down. Was she not done with the test? Kenny swore he saw her turn her test before him. Kenny squinted his eyes to catch more detail.

Heidi was writing in her composition with a purple pen. She was drawing something. Kenny couldn't make it out but when looked at Heidi she had a smile on her face.

Kenny really had a hard time stopping himself from staring. He just couldn't help seeing Heidi. She just represented something decent. Something genuine. And Kenny had a problem actually encountering and obtaining something he saw as genuine.

Just as Kenny realized that he should probably stop staring like a creep, Heidi looked to her pre referral to see Kenny staring at her with a smile.

Kenny had a slight smile. Although it was slight in nature, it didn't lack any confidence.

Heidi blushed. She was unsure of what to think of Kenny's look.

Kenny realized what he was doing and turned back to avoid being awkward. Heidi just went back to drawing in her composition book.

"Fucking idiot. Why am I such a creep?"Kenny thought to himself.

It gave Kenny flashbacks of when he checked in on Heidi when he was "heroing". The flashbacks reminded him of the business he needed to take care of later today as well.

After the test time was over, Kenny decided it was time to call in a favor from Heidi.

Kenny wasn't the type to ask or take something from someone. It made him feel like he was asking for handouts like those annoying people who work for charities that stand outside the front of stores.

Kenny developed a dialogue about what a vegan thanksgiving would be like. Heidi clued him in on what that would entail.

"Ya it's mostly potato."Heidi said

"Really? But does it look like a turkey?"Kenny questioned

"Well of course not, but it still tastes similar to it."

"Aaa,I see."Kenny followed up

Kenny should have chosen a better subject so the Segway could have been easier to get to the task at hand.

Kenny looked over Wendy's direction to see her talking to her friends. Heidi caught onto this.

"Something wrong?"Heidi asked

"Not really...Do you think..Do you think you could do me a solid?"Kenny asked

"Okay. What?"

"Well do you think I could tell Wendy that I need to talk with her? Not anything weird, just something she might know about."

Kenny was hiding something and Heidi knew it. She had gotten to know him well enough to understand that if something wasn't worth hiding, he would tell her.

Heidi had three guesses. The first was that Kenny maybe had a crush on Wendy. But she doubted that as that would spark too much controversy in his friend group. He had just patched things up Kyle and didn't want to make enemies with Cartman by bringing in one of his worst enemies as a girlfriend. He also wouldn't want to piss off Stan. And everybody knows how close Kyle and Stan are. And seeing as Wendy and Kenny rarely crossed paths so it would be hard as to understand how he could fall for her. Heidi blew a mental sigh of relief.

The second guess pertained to Kenny admitting his feelings for Heidi to Wendy and somehow finding a way around Cartman. Maybe with the help of one of Cartman's adversaries, they could keep Cartman in check and wouldn't worry about the repercussions. Therefore, Kenny could pursue a relationship with Heidi. But, she knew that Kenny wouldn't be one to hide behind someone else to solve his problems. And no matter the gain, Kenny would never abandon his morals. But if he did like her, shouldn't he? Would Heidi even want that?

The final guess was that Kenny wasn't hiding anything and was just genuinely gonna talk about something that had no relevance. Then why did Heidi have doubts and other ideas? Why did it bother her? Was she feeling jealous? Jealous that another girl she knew was gonna be hanging out with Kenny alone. She knew Wendy. And Wendy didn't roll like that.

Heidi needed to think of a response. She didn't want to come across as jealous. And Kenny wasn't the one to cause controversy. However, Heidi would be lying if she said wasn't a little reluctant.

"Why can't you ask?"Heidi asked

"Well, I'm not very close with her or anything. And I think she associates me with the exploits of Cartman and others. Especially after the whole karaoke thing."Kenny said

Heidi smiled.

"Don't worry, she can be quite hospitable. Just don't try to start anything with her. And just make sure she isn't involved in a conversation. She can get quite passionate about some of the things she talks about."Heidi followed

"Okay, I just don't want to come across as weird."Kenny said

"Why would it be weird?"

"Well it's kind of a unique situation.."

"A Cartman situation?"

"No. Just a weird one"

"Okay.."

"Don't worry, it's nothing you need to worry about."Kenny said as he put a hand on Heidi's shoulder.

"Alright."Heidi said with a soft smile.

The bell for lunch rang and the students made their way out of the classroom. Heidi was following behind Kenny to ensure that he actually asked Wendy to talk. Although some could see this as a bit weird, Kenny appreciated it. He appreciated the fact that there was someone that was willing to push him to go a little outside of his comfort zone. Kenny could see the girl with a pink burette. She wasn't too far from him.

"Yo Wendy."Kenny shouted out.

Heidi pinched the bridge of her nose but just kept on walking. Maybe she should have asked on his behalf.

Wendy turned around to see Kenny waving at her.

"Umm hello."Wendy said

Kenny approached her.

"Hey umm, do you mind if I ask you something real quick?"Kenny asked

"Sure, what about?"Wendy responded

"Cool, do you mind if we go somewhere a bit more private? It's nothing weird, I promise."Kenny said

"Alright, lead the way."

Kenny led the way to the playground. Since most of the students would be at lunch, they would have more space to themselves.

He had always known Wendy to be very stoic and fight for what she believed in. Literally. That's why she always seemed to butt heads with Cartman. Kenny would go as far to say that their hate for one another would go further than Kyle's hate for Cartman. At least they could all hang out together. But Cartman and Wendy always seemed to play a certain part. Like Superman and Lex Luther. Always good and always bad. So why? And how in the world would Cartman even get close with Wendy to pull off a kiss. And why would it make her falter? It just seemed off.

Off just like how Peru made Kenny feel when Craig told him about it. Kenny was beginning to notice that maybe his deaths was beginning to have repercussions. Maybe not in big ways. But, he would have to act now to ensure that didn't change.

Kenny opened the doors to the playground as Wendy followed suit. They moved towards the left of the doors and near the gate that made sure they stayed within the confines of the school.

"So what's up? Something to do with Heidi?"Wendy asked

Kenny smirked.

"No not really."Kenny said

"Really? Damn. Thought I was gonna be on the money with that."

"Well, maybe in time."

"Oo. Good for you guys."Wendy said

"Umm thanks I guess.."Kenny said

"So what this is about?"Wendy questioned

"Well, on the way home from the karaoke bar I picked up on something Cartman said.."Kenny

"Well he says a lot of things so.."

"Well maybe Cartman was bull shiting or something, but he said he kissed you or something."Kenny said

"Ooo god."Wendy said as she put her hands to her face

"If it makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to talk about it. I just want to make sure of something that's all. And trust me, his fat, ugly lips are the last thing I want to know about."Kenny said

Wendy removed her hands from her face. She sighed.

"No, it's fine. And it's not bullshit. I did indeed kiss Cartman. He was my first kiss actually."Wendy said in disgust

Kenny's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Okay, when the fuck did this happen? And where the fuck was I?"Kenny asked

"It happened during the flag debate scandal...and I think...you had died."Wendy said

"So...you know then…"Kenny asked

"Yes…I'm sorry I've never confronted you about it. I was just so ashamed.."Wendy responded

"Ashamed?"

"Ya. Ashamed of the fact that I just didn't bite the bullet when I had the chance. I decided Cartman wasn't worth it and stayed with Stan because he was the safer option. But, every time stuff would repeat, Cartman would just get worse and worse. And, there were times that I thought I could maybe try it again and make him a better human being. Not even in a relationship sense. Just in terms of common ground and respect for another human being."Wendy said

Wendy began to tear up. It reminded Kenny of Heidi.

"If I had at least tried back then, then maybe he wouldn't be who is now. And all those people that he had wronged..and Heidi. It's all my fault."Wendy said

Wendy was being hard on herself. Kenny knew what he had to do. Kenny stood up straight and made hard eye contact with Wendy.

"It's alright Wendy. I've had the exact same thoughts. But in the end, I think it's just who Cartman was supposed to be. Like it's just his destiny. And you can't hate yourself for the way others are meant to be. It's like the saying, you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose. But, you can't pick your friend's nose."

Wendy wiped her wet eyes.

"Thanks Kenny. I appreciate that. I can see why Heidi likes you."Wendy said with a slight smirk.

Kenny rolled his eyes. But deep down he wanted her to be right.

"Well ya, it's just facts at this point. It doesn't matter how many times I reset things. He always comes back the same or worse."Kenny said

"But it just gets frustrating. He's had so many chances."Wendy adds

"Chances?"Kenny questions

"Ya. He has time to recollect and everything. And he acts like he never did anything either. But he knows damn well that he did."

Kenny froze.

" .wait. He remembers everything? My deaths and all."Kenny says

"Well ya. He's never told you?"Wendy responds

"NO! When did he tell you?"

"It kind of just happened...on the night that me and my friends helped you guys. I kind of just realized it. And I confirmed it with him yesterday in passing. Trust me, I was upset too."

"WELL NOT AS PISSED AS I AM!"

Kenny turned away from Wendy and began to walk away.

"Kenny wait, you know he's lethal. Especially if you instigate with him."Wendy said

"Well, I'm feeling a little lethal myself right now so I should be good."Kenny said with anger in his eyes

Kenny began to angrily speed walk away. Kenny didn't care about the consequences right now he just wanted answers.

Wendy sighed and pulled out her phone. She knew who she needed to text.

(Minutes before )(Heidi's P.O.V )

Heidi was still smiling and on her way to her locker. She had her composition book in her hand and was thinking about what it contained. She was still curious about what Kenny's conversation with Wendy meant. But Heidi wasn't one to be jealous. At least not intentionally.

Heidi arrived at her locker and began to put her stuff away. She opened up her composition book and turned to the page she had drawn on during class.

The page read Mysterion. The name took up the entirety of two pages. It was written in purple. Heidi thought it was quite fitting.

She smiled to herself. Heidi just couldn't quite get Mysterion out of her head. Similar to Kenny, he had helped her with her own issues and didn't feel that she could ever pay him back for such kindness.

As she was looking at the page, Heidi could hear someone approaching her. She quickly shut her composition book. And made sure her locker was closed.

Heidi turned to face the person that was approaching her. It was Karen McCormick.

"Hello Karen. How are you doing?"Heidi said

"I'm fine, how about yourself."Karen replied with some shyness in her voice.

Heidi smiled at her response.

"Ya,I've been fine."Heidi said

Karen looked down to the ground and put her hands together. Heidi felt that something was wrong. Like she had done something wrong.

Heidi's smile turned into a face of concern

"I-I'm sorry…"Karen states.

"Sorry for what?"Heidi asked

"For making you take care of my brother. I'm sorry. I didn't trust anyone else to take care of him."Karen said

Heidi was a little surprised and flattered to hear this. She knew that she had made an impression on Karen but she didn't think that she would be Karen's go to for Kenny. Was it that obvious?

Karen would have had to known that Kenny's friends would probably have done the same. But for some reason, she trusted Heidi to take care of him.

"It's okay. It wasn't a problem at all. Besides, I owed him one."Heidi said cheerfully.

Karen perked up.

"Really?..."Karen questioned

"Ya, of course. I love spending time with him. Even when he's….sick."

Karen's eyes widened.

"Love?"Karen asked

Heidi hadn't realized what she said.

"Well uuuu…"Heidi tried to retort

Karen giggled. Since she had both perspectives, she couldn't help but giggle a little bit. It's almost like a fairy tail. Where both parties can't decide if they are in love or not.

"Do you love him?"Karen said

"Well...love is a pretty strong word. So…"Heidi responded

"So?"

Heidi blushed a bit. Putting Kenny into context like that was pretty top tier for her.

"Well...I think I need some time before I'm willing to state anything of that level."Heidi said

Karen smiled.

"Don't worry, I won't tell him."Karen said

Heidi blushed as she played with the ends of her hair.

Heidi felt something vibrate in her pocket. She went to check her phone.

It was a text from Wendy.

"Find Kenny. He may hurt himself. Mentally and physically."Wendy's text read

Heidi's eyes widened. She was confused. She had come to the conclusion that all Kenny and Wendy were having was one kind of random talk. Maybe on Stan's behalf. But, now it's dangerous?

Karen noticed this.

"What's the matter?"Karen asked

"I have to find your brother. He's gonna do something that's gonna get him hurt."Heidi said

"Okay, let's find him."Karen said with concern.

Heidi thought about telling her no. She didn't want Karen to see her brother in any bad way. But who was she to tell her to not see her brother. Out of anyone besides herself, Heidi knew that Karen might be the only person capable of getting Kenny to stop what he was doing.

"Alright, let's go."Heidi said

Hopefully, she wouldn't regret allowing Karen to come.

(Current time)(Kenny's P.O.V)

Kenny was furious. Even though he could easily hate Cartman, Kenny always gave him the empathy of circumstance. That he was the reason Cartman acted the way he did. But now. That had all gone out the window.

Kenny made his way down the hallway. Other students could feel his vibe and stayed out of his way.

Out of everything Cartman had done, this had to be the worst. He could let the Nascar thing go. Cartman had done things like that to others all the time so he considered himself lucky that only went that far. And the coon and friends had also put Cartman in his place. And Kenny's deaths had fixed a lot of the damage Cartman had done with Cthulhu. He still didn't know what to do with Karen but he'd figure that out.

But what made this situation different is that Kenny had now learned, what had happened to Cartman was all because of Cartman. All the times he had given him chances, all the times he had felt remorse. And the entire time, Cartman was just letting Kenny suffer. And not just Kenny and himself, but also Craig and Wendy. And..more importantly...Heidi. And who knows who else knows. The entire town might know and Kenny might just think he's alone the entire time. Maybe it truly wasn't just his curse. Maybe it belonged to the entire town. Or the world for that matter. Okay maybe that's just giving Cartman too much credit.

After all that time, Cartman never said a damn word to Kenny. Kenny didn't just feel lied to and cheated. He felt betrayed.

Kenny made his way around some lockers when he saw Cartman. He was talking to Stan and Kyle.

As Kenny approached, the other boys noted his presence.

"Oo hey Kenny."Stan said

"Sup Kenny."Kyle noted

"Kenny. Kenny?"Cartman said as he noticed the look on Kenny's eyes.

Stan and Kyle picked up on Kenny's impudent rage and moved out of his way.

Cartman was confused.

But before he could ask Kenny, Kenny grabbed Cartman by the throat and slammed the back of his head against the locker.

Kenny let go of Cartman's throat and used his forearm to keep Cartman against the locker.

"HOW LONG HAVE YOU KNOWN!" Kenny shouted

"ABOUT WHAT?!"Cartman responded

"ABOUT MY GOD DAMN DEATH RESETS!"

"Aaa so you finally figured it out...I was wondering when you pick up-

Before Cartman could finish his sentence, Kenny used his weight to slam Cartman's head against the locker again.

"OOWWW FUCKIN KENNY!"Cartman exclaimed in pain

"WAS IT FUN FOR YOU? WATCHING ME SUFFER! MAKING THEM SUFFER TOO! WAS IT BECAUSE YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING?! OR ARE YOU JUST THAT MUCH OF A PSYCHO!?"Kenny shouted with rage

"GOD DAMMIT KENNY! LET ME GO!"

"ANSWER ME FAT BOY!"

The other students looked on. They were all pretty confused and could barely make out what was being said. This didn't surprise any of them though.

Stan and Kyle just looked on as well .

"Dude what the fuck are they talking about?"Stan asked

"I dunno. I'm just happy it's somebody else besides me doing this to Cartman."Kyle said

"Ya."Stan responded

They go back to looking at Kenny and Cartman.

"Tell me, do you remember what you said to me on my deathbed? You said I was your best friend...But all this time, you've just let me suffer. And all this time I've maimed myself for your folly.."Kenny said

"So you do remember.."Cartman responded with a sinister smile.

"What?"Kenny responded with confusion.

"Here I was thinking that you were the one that forgot about what I had said to you. Welly buddy, if anyone should be pissed it should be me."Cartman said

"YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT! AFTER ALL THE SHIT YOU'VE DONE!"

"It's technically after all you've done. It is your curse after all. Besides, it's all undone anyway."Cartman said

"You IRESPONSIBLE FUCK!"

"Ooo come one. I may have killed a few people. So what? You undid it anyway."Cartman followed up.

Kenny had enough.

"YOU SADISTIC BASTARD!"Kenny yelled out as he clenched his fist and ready to strike.

As Kenny got ready to land his first blow and Cartman winced waiting for contact, someone called Kenny's name.

"Kenny.."Karen said

She was standing next to Heidi. Both of them looked frightened. Like they were about to watch a beast about to disembowel it's prey.

Kenny had scared them. Made them fear him.

Kenny pulled back his punch and loosened his grip on Cartman. Cartman slipped down the locker down for dramatic effect.

Kenny looked down at Cartman.

"You get this one. Just this FUCKIN ONE!"Kenny said before turning to walk away. His walk turned to a run.

"Kenny!"Heidi said as she went after him.

"Should we go after him?"Stan asked

"No, whatever it is, it seems to involve Heidi. I think it's best if we make sure that this fat bastard does retaliate towards either of them."Kyle said as he gestured toward Cartman.

Cartman had a straight look on his face and pulled out his phone.

He thought about saying something to Heidi but then Karen walked up to Cartman first.

"Are you okay Eric.."Karen asked

"I'm fine."Cartman replies

Karen offers Cartman a hand up and he takes it. Butters approach's Cartman as well.

"Eric...what happens now?"Butters asks

"Looks like we are gonna have to change the plan once more." Cartman said while texting on his phone.

Karen was confused but just kept to herself.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter. I'm gonna take a second and pat myself on the back for getting this chapter out so soon*pat, pat*. I don't know if I've said this before, but I actually wrote the first five chapters in one day. So I was able to have a little meat to the story when I first published it. But, I don't have that type of time on my hands anymore. So I'm proud I got this chapter out so fast. I actually started this chapter before the vaccination special. It kind of gave me an idea for another fic based around the idea of the broship never coming back together and them being in high school and stuff. Definitely something a little more mature compared to what I'm currently writing. But, I do hope the boys do come back together in canon. It honestly reminded me of the MCU where all the avengers are separated. Almost like Matt and Trey are setting up for the end of South Park. They do only have two seasons left(unless they renew for more). It would make things complicated for them characters wise without each other and with them all coming together for the finale.
