Chapter 4
Natsu POV
WHAT! Natsu screamed internally. He jumped forward in anger.
"Fire Dragon Iron Fist!" he yelled. Jellal simply raised his hand and blasted him into the wall with a yellow beam with rocks burying him. Ow. he thought.
"Ah yes, your magic seems to be as powerful as ever," said Brain. Jellal works with these people?! thought Natsu. Another blast could be heard.
"Get up Natsu!" yelled the muffled voice of Makoto. He's right. He told himself.
"Where's Jellal!?" demanded Natsu. He needed to make sure Jellal didn't hurt Erza again.
"What's more important?" asked Carla. "Saving Erza or going after Jellal.?" Natsu grinded his teeth but realized Carla was right.
"Fine, let's go!" said Natsu.
"Well, could you cut me loose?" asked Makoto. Natsu walked over and sliced the ropes off. Makoto stood up and activated some kind of armor. What is he wearing?
"Why are you staring?" asked a confused Makoto. "Let's go!" Natsu, still confused shook his head and turned around to pick grab Wendy to find she had fainted. A white blur suddenly rushed in front of him and stopped. Makoto picked up Wendy and pressed his back. A small pack popped out of his back.
"Happy," said Natsu. "Let's go!"
"Aye!" replied Happy. The blue cat jumped onto Natsu's back and activated his wings. Makoto blasted out of the cave and climbed into the sky. Natsu quickly followed him. Carla flew next to them. As they flew, Natsu would barely hear Gray's warning.
"Look out!" yelled Gray. Confused, Natsu looked down to see Gray pointing in the air behind him. Thwap!
"Looks like I stopped your running," muttered Makoto. What is he talking about? Then Natsu noticed a falling Racer, flailing around in the air. After confirming Racer wasn't coming after them, Natsu decided to move forward.
"How did you know he was coming?" yelled Natsu as they zipped through the sky.
"Racer?" asked Makoto. Natsu nodded his head. "I have a slow mode visor in this armor."
"How many do you have!?" asked a surprised Carla.
"Umm, around? Hey look, we're here!" Makoto pointed at a small clearing, where the purple venom was very visible from the sky. Oh no! Natsu panicked. Were they too late? The three flyers quickly landed and ran over to Hibiki and Lucy.
"Natsu!" exclaimed Lucy. Then she noticed Makoto holding Wendy. "Who's that?" asked Lucy.
"M-Makoto," said Wendy weakly. Everyone looked shocked that she was awake. Wendy coughed.
"Wendy!" said Natsu. Time was of the essence to save Erza. "You need to save Erza! Please!"
"G-got it," she said. She then realized that she was being carried by Makoto. "Makoto, c-could you p-put me down?" They both suddenly blushed and Makoto placed her down on the ground. She crawled over to Erza and began to concentrate. The venom began receding back to the puncture wound and vanished. Natsu waited in anticipation as Erza didn't get up.
"S-she might not wake up for a little bit," said Wendy. Natsu grabbed Erza's shoulders and began to shake her.
"Come on!" yelled Natsu. "Wake up!" Hibiki grabbed his shoulder and pulled him off of her.
"Let her rest," he ordered sternly.
"Can I have your attention?" said Carla. "Please refrain from using Wendy's sky magic, it drains her magic energy,"
"I have a solution for that," said Makoto.
"You do?" asked Hibiki.
"Thanks for volunteering," replied Makoto as he grabbed Hibiki's hand. He then put his hand on Wendy's forehead and concentrated.
"What are you doing?" asked Lucy. Suddenly, a bright blue glow formed in Hibiki and passed through Makoto and into Wendy. She seemed less pale and some of her exhaustion faded.
"S-sorry for making you do that," said Wendy. "I-if only I d-didn't-" Fwoom! A massive white laser burst from the ground around two miles away. Black tentacles shot out n multiple directions. Everybody gasped. What is that?
"What is that?!" asked a nervous Lucy.
"Nirvana," replied Hibiki grimly.
"Jellal awakened Nirvana!" yelled Natsu. He needed to neutralize Jellal before he hurt any of his other friends.
"Jellal?!" asked surprised Lucy. Natsu took off without replying.
Makoto POV
"I'll explain later," said Happy.
"Erza's gone!" said Carla.
"Where did she go? Asked Lucy. As they were talking, I noticed Wendy was shaking, and grabbing the side of her body.
"It was my fault Natsu and Erza ran," she muttered. I noticed Hibiki looking intently at her, and I readied my magic. Suddenly, yellow boxes appeared in front of Wendy and I went into action.
"Magic Barrier! Recall Magic!" The yellow boxes suddenly disappeared and Hibiki looked confused. Then he looked at me.
"Why did you block my attack?" asked Hibiki.
"Have some faith!" I replied. I was a little annoyed that Hibiki didn't even consider to calm her. Woosh! Everyone but me was knocked down, and they tried to stand up. I activated my armor and looked at Wendy. Her hands pressed to her ears, and waves of air rippled from her. Well, maybe Hibiki was right.
"Get away from me!" Wendy screamed.
"Hibiki and Lucy," I said. "Go after Natsu, I got this."
"Are you sure?" asked Lucy as she used her hand to block the wind.
"I got it!" I managed as I was pushed back slightly. The two slowly crawled away and began to run in Natsu's direction. After making sure the two were gone, I turned back to Wendy to see a miniature tornado begin to form. She was surrounded by a layer of wind, cutting through the nearby trees like tissue paper. I deactivated my armor and began struggling forward. Wendy saw me trying to approach and tried to blast me with a large gust of wind.
"STOP!" she yelled. My feet began to slip. I dug my feet into the ground and walked forward.
"It wasn't your fault!" I yelled back. "Oracion Sies took advantage of your past!"
"B-but I was the one who cured him!" said Wendy. The wind became slightly weaker.
"He helped you. I would have saved him!" I said. I pushed through into the middle of the tornado as a rock hit the back of my head. Uh, this wasn't such a good idea. I contemplated. Yeah. said Mike. She hasn't gone through any character development yet dumb. So of course she would succumb. I stumbled into Wendy, dazed, and subconsciously hugged her. I barely heard her as we crashed to the ground, and everything went black.
Wendy POV
"Wuh?" I murmured as I hit my head. I lay there for a moment, not registering what just happened. The world was spinning, and my head hurt a lot. A few minutes later, the dizziness stopped and I felt like I was waking from a dream. I blinked a few times and found myself face to face with Makoto. He had a large bump on his head.
"Ah!" I yelped. Then realized his arms were around my body. I quickly scouted out of his arms, with my face as red as a tomato. Is he unconscious? I reluctantly poked him in the cheek to see if he would wake up, but he didn't move. He is. I looked around to find Carla dazed near a tree. I ran over and shook her shoulders.
"Carla, wake up!" I yelled. She shook her head and looked up.
"Wendy, are you okay?" she asked urgently.
"Y-yes. I-is something wrong?" I asked. I tried thinking about what happened during the day. Strangely, my memory cut off three minutes ago. She looked concerned but didn't say anything.
"Nothing, but we should go." She said. "We have to go after Natsu."
"Natsu!?" I exclaimed. I was extremely confused. Where did he go? "I mean sure, but Makoto is still unconscious." Carla looked behind me, and then noticed the limp body of Makoto.
"Oh, I guess I'll have to fly him while we go," said Carla exasperatedly.
"R-really!?" I said. "Thank you, Carla!"
"Hmm, you really seem relieved about that," Carla noted.
"What?" I said. "O-of course I don't like him. He's a friend!"
"I never said anything about that," said a serious Carla as she walked over to Natsu.
"H-hey!" I said as I followed her. By the time I caught up to her, she was already floating with Makoto in hand.
"We have to go," said Carla as began to move forward. I began to run and ended up behind Carla. I was still confused at what happened.
"What was that question about earlier?" I asked between steps.
"Oh, Nirvana affected you earlier," Carla said sadly. She went on to explain what had happened earlier.
"Oh," I said guiltily. "So, it was my fault Makoto was knocked out." I felt really sad and worthless. First I healed Jellal who opened Nirvana, the I hit Makoto.
"It wasn't your fault," said a stern Carla. "Now get that ridiculous thought out of your head."
"Y-yes, mam!" I hastily replied. The next few minutes were filled with silence until a smaller, yellow beam appeared in the air a couple of yards away. Is there a battle going on? I hurried forward, to find Natsu slumped over on a raft, Hibiki staring at Lucy, who was smiling weakly. A few feet in front of her was that woman Angel, defeated in the water. Happy was trying to get Natsu off the raft.
"Ow, what's going on?"
