Chapter 21: Paradoxical Recollection Part 3

This story follows the events that happened after the following Steins;Gate titles. Steins;Gate, Steins;Gate OVA, and Steins;Gate 0. Also, there are situations from other Steins;Gate titles that inspired multiple events in this story.

Okabe finally arrives at the front gates of the building that he needs to get to so he can exchange the teleportation research to save Mayuri and Luka. They are currently in the hands of the enemy organization.
Before the guards come over to inspect the truck. Okabe speaks to everyone else inside. "Alright! From here on out till no guards are left, you all will use the new future gadget to go invisible."
"Yes!" Everyone says. The guards begin heading over, and just like everyone agreed, Kagari and the Special Forces turn on the invisibility.
The guards come up to Okabe's truck and inspect anything they find suspicious, and they could fortunately find nothing, meaning the invisibility works. The gates then open to let Okabe pass.
Not far from the gates, two invisible people walk through undetected, and hide behind a huge tree. They turn off their invisibility since no one should see them there. Who is revealed is Kiryu Moeka and Future Suzuha, working together by taking position just in case anything bad happens. Moeka does not know that Future Suzuha is indeed Suzuha, and from the future.
Okabe parks the truck on the side of the building and gets out. He is escorted by three guards to the doors and heads inside. Kagari and the special forces then deactivate their invisibility and hide under the windows to make sure they are not caught, and await any orders. Kagari hides as well, but she also becomes concerned for Okabe.
Inside the building, Okabe checks his surroundings for everything that is around the building. It would seem Kagari was somewhat wrong about what is inside in terms of stuff there is, however, she is right about every position of each room and hallway that lead to other areas.
They then approach a set of stairs that lead to an underground level. He then heads down with the guards, but before sneaking a very small gadget on the railing to hide it from the guards. Moments later, the gadget transforms into a very small robot spider. This spider then begins to move using movement controlled by Maho.
As Okabe then heads into another huge hallway, he places another similar gadget on an edge on a doorway without alerting the guards. This one also transforms into a small robotic spider, but it is being controlled by Kurisu.
Lastly, just before entering the room he is supposed to arrive at, Okabe secretly puts the final small spider gadget on the edge of a doorway, which then transforms, and becomes controlled by Daru. Him, including Maho and Kurisu control a spider gadget with a camera to seek around clues and information about the American Organization that can help identify them and hand them over to the authorities.
Inside the room, it is massively large and wide open, and quite dark, but still seeable. There, Okabe is shocked to see such a large place and wonders where Mayuri and Luka are. Then, on the other side of the room, a huge swaying door opens and closes. The sound of heels clicking gets louder and louder, as someone approaches Okabe. Then, a woman in a motorcycle suit helmet to conceal her identity appears. It is obvious she is a woman because of her body physique. Beside her though, on each side, two guards come forth with their hostages, Mayuri and Luka.
"Okarin!" says Mayuri with shock. Luka also gets shocked to see Okabe.
"Mayuri! Rukako!" says Okabe with a shout.
Then the mysterious woman speaks. "Welcome, Rintaro Okabe. The fact you are here means you are very caring for your friends. That is good. Then this will be simple. Do you know why we are here today?"
Okabe takes a moment before responding. "Yes. You wanted the teleportation research in exchange to not kill Mayuri and Rukako."
The scientist gives a small laugh. "That is correct. You are well aware of what is happening. You have learned the essentials of observation to being a real scientist."
Okabe suddenly becomes very shocked and curious about the way the person is talking to him. He questions why the scientist is talking to him like they knew him well, and like they have met before in the past. Before he could think any further however, the scientist speaks. "Well, first hand the research over and we will confirm if you are playing a trick here or not."
Okabe grabs a flash drive from his pocket, and throws it to the female. She then has a guard come forth with a laptop on hand, and inserts the flash drive to the laptop. They then pull up all the information about the flash drive, and see all the documents about teleportation on it. It takes a minute to quickly scan through the papers, before making their decision. "Ok. Guards, release the hostages, and escort them out."
Mayuri and Luka are untied and set free. They run over to Okabe and hug him with relief to see him again. Shortly after, they are escorted out of the room to head back outside.
Back at the Future Gadget Laboratory, Daru, Kurisu, and Maho all are on separate monitors, controlling a spider gadget as they enter through hallways and rooms.
"There only seems to be endless amounts of rooms with lab experiments as we go in deeper." says Daru.
"That seems to be the case," says Maho. "However, they seem to have so many documents of research. The more unusual thing is they contain different languages and documents containing experiments I never heard of."
"What are some of the experiments that you have found?" Kurisu asks.
"Let's see." Maho uses the spider to hack into the files of research reports and pulls up a few into the monitors of their lab. "There is the world's most lethal pathogen that can possibly wipe out the world's population, though this is written in Chinese." There is a pause. "There is also brainwashing….." Maho then stops speaking as there is a pause.
"What's up, Maho-tan?" Daru asks.
"Brainwashing is a type of experiment being conducted by a secret organization in America. I heard about it during a small talk with Professor Leskinen about it. I remember an unknown agent came to him and offered him so much money to work for research based on brainwashing only. However, he refused to cooperate with him. Professor Leskinen does not like to get in dirty business at all unless it is necessary."
Kurisu decides to take a further look into the files Maho acquired. "There is also the creation of a black hole, using the Large Hadron Supercollider. This is used to understand originally the laws of the universe. However, it is possible that a black can be weaponized in a fearful world weapon. Wait, this research is from Europe."
Daru steps up to check the next files. "There is the Nuclear Research Project, which consists of developing a nuclear bomb to be able to wipe out an entire country in a few minutes. This research is from Russia."
Everyone in the room is shocked by everything they has found so far. "What is really going on in the world right now?" Maho asks. "We keep recently hearing more of America, Russia, and Europe. But now there is also China with their lethal pathogen experiments, and other research documents from other parts of the world."
Suddenly, Kurisu's spider robot gets an alert that a few people walked by. She decides to follow them into a huge office room where the people who are scientists talk about the teleportation research. She stands by and hears the conversation with the rest of her group for a short time. Nothing seems out of the ordinary at first, but then the topic switches.
"Well, what do we do now with the research?" says one scientist.
"We need to wait for orders from Stratfor. They are the ones who asked us to receive the teleportation research." says another scientist.
When the person mentions the word, Stratfor, Maho's face becomes terrorized. "N-No way….."
"What is wrong?" Daru asks.
"I heard of that organization before…." she implies. "I had dreams about that organization. They are basically the shadow of the CIA for America…" Maho faces turns to real worry. "Hashida-san, tell Okabe to get out of there faster if he can. We need to avoid these people at all costs."
Suddenly, yelling is heard through the small spider Kurisu left in the office of where the scientists were. They begin to yell because something bad happened. When they went through the documents of the teleportation research, it installed a malicious malware to their computer and caused an automatic delete to the teleportation research. It would seem this was the plan all along as Daru confirms it. "Looks like the malware initiated a lot sooner than I thought."
The scientists then got angry and began to run to get Okabe, Mayuri and Luka. Maho already knew what was happening and began to initiate the next step. "Kurisu! Tell Okabe-san to get out of there now!"
Back at the building of the unknown organization, Okabe is still being escorted by the guards of the place with Mayuri and Luka. However, his bracelet gadget then gets a beeping notification. He answers it, and he receives a message saying he needs to get out of there now, because the scientists have caught that there flash drive was a trap. It is revealed that all along, Okabe never had the intention of giving the organization the teleportation research to keep, since the organization they are dealing with clearly wants the research for the purpose to harm the world in some way. Of course, that is how evil organizations act to get what they want.
Okabe turns to Mayuri and Luka, as he hands them an unusual gadget that is a small device while hiding it from the guards. "Mayuri, Rukako. As soon as you see me throw something on the ground, use this device and put it on your face."
They are curious as to why they should, but they prepare to do so anyways. Then, Okabe puts on his persona and gets the attention of the guards. "Sorry to disappoint you all, but you are already relieved of your duty to escort the insane mad scientist!" Okabe then throws a small gadget to the ground that releases a type of thick smoke. This makes the guards quickly fall to the ground unconscious because they breathed it inside the system. Fortunately, Okabe, Mayuri, and Luka put on the device quickly to avoid being affected by the smoke and they begin to run.
After they leave the area of the smoke, all three of them deactivate the mask to reverting back to a small device. "What was that smoke, Okarin?" Mayuri asks.
"That was a sleep bomb gadget. When it explodes, it releases a smoke like anesthesia and will make them fall unconscious."
That was your plan all along?" Luka asks.
"Yes. That way we can make our escape a bit easier. But the enemy has caught on to our intentions, so we need to make a run for it." Okabe then uses his bracelet to notify all the soldiers in the truck that plan B is needed.
Over at the truck, Mr. Braun receives the notification and initiates the plan. "Ok, we're moving to plan B. Lets go!"
However, before they leave, Kagari already knows about plan B, which Okabe explained to her differently. Apparently, Okabe told her if plan B is needed, it means something bad is happening to him, or to Mayuri and Luka. She gets really worried for who she calls Big Sis and Big Bro, and then who she loves to be around a lot as well, Rintaro Okabe. She switches her invisibility on, and leaves the truck to head over the side of the building to find a way in.
The special forces quickly exit the back of the truck in formation, and take out all the guards nearby to head inside the front entrance of the building. Moeka also sees the special forces moving and decides to help them out on the sidelines by entering through a different door to head inside. Suzuha stays on standby for any issues that would come to Kagari on the truck, but she does not realize unfortunately that Kagari is not there already. Moeka eventually finds a door on the side and goes inside, not realizing Kagari is also behind her as she is invisible as well.
The special forces go through room after room, hallway after hallway, taking out all the guards and people with guns, and capturing those who instantly surrender. Gunshots echo through the building with a few grenades that are used to take out groups of guards.
Moeka also takes out guards left to guard the side and keeps moving, still not noticing Kagari is behind her. Then as Moeka turns one direction, Kagari notices another person that looks familiar to her, and decides to run to that direction instead.
Okabe and Luka have grabbed rifles from fallen guards they have taken out and shoot back to defend themselves with Mayuri. They hold in position for a moment to figure out what to do next as they are in a different area. Then, Mayuri notices a hallway with an exit sign. "Okarin, Look!"
Okabe then sees the exit sign Mayuri was pointing too. "Great job Mayuri! Then you and Rukako exit through that doorway while I distract the enemy from following you and head a different way!"
"Are you sure?! Will you be ok?!"
Okabe puts on his persona. "Don't worry! The mad scientist will not fall to these lowly scumbags who dare go against Hououin Kyouma!"
Luka nods in agreement. "Ok! Lets go, Mayuri!"
Mayuri nods and follows Luka out through the hallway to the nearest exit. Okabe moves to another area to grab the attention of the guards.
Mayuri and Luka then quickly manage to head outside through another side door from the building. Suzuha sees them from a distance away sighing with relief. However, she then sees one guard pop from a corner and prepare to shoot at them. She decides to quickly take action and pull out her pistol, and shoot them, hitting in the head and killing them instantly. Suzuha then quickly runs over to Mayuri and Luka to secure them into the truck.
"Are you guys alright?!"
They both nod in agreement.
Suzuha then quickly checks on Kagari who would be sitting on the passager side of the truck. However, as she tries to see if she is around, Kagari is not. "Kagari?!"
Back inside the building, Okabe has managed to take down the guards and takes a moment to breathe from everything that is occurring. However, he then hears footsteps from behind a turn to point the gun in that direction, but he sees no one. Then a voice comes through. "Okarin-san!"
Okabe becomes surprised as he knows the only person who calls him that. The person then instantly appears in front of him, and it is Kagari. "Kagari?! What are you doing here?!"
Kagari hugs Okabe with relief. "I was so worried for you, so I came over to see if you are ok!"
"That is great you are worried for me, but this place is very dangerous for a girl like you! We need to get you out of here!"
Okabe takes Kagari by the hands and runs with her through hallways to find the nearest exit. However things turn for the worse. Back above them, the Special Forces are still fighting the guards. Suddenly, they throw a grenade at the enemy which kills them, but it causes the building to begin collapsing on their side. This is due to the room where the grenade was throw at also was a place where explosive chemicals were stored. The Special Forces have no choice but the retreat immediately. Unfortunately, the explosion also begins to collapse the roof above Okabe and Kagari because they are below the blast. They begin to show fear and Okabe decides to pick up Kagari and run with her in his arms as fast as possible to escape the collapsing roof.
As they run, The roof begins collapsing quicker and quicker. Okabe tries running as fast as possible while having Kagari on his arms, but then, chunks of rocks begin going over there heads. Unfortunately, one of these rocks hits Okabe on the head hard. This makes him quickly lose focus, as he drops to the ground, falling unconscious. Kagari suddenly falls as well because the fall Okabe had made her land on her head to a wall. This makes her also fall unconscious.
Okabe begins to regain focus after the rock hitting his head, but not in the same place. He gradually regains focus to see he is in the dream that he once called that is now more real than ever, The Realm of Steiner.
Okabe manages to get up, but he struggles to focus for a moment since he had a hard impact on the head. He looks around to see if he can find Kagari, and soon enough, he manages to find her. She is lying on the floor, unconscious. Okabe walks a bit slow, but he eventually reaches her. He tries to wake her up, but no luck. He feels sad for her current state, and regrets putting her in this situation, as there is only silence for a moment.
Before he could think any further though, Kagari suddenly grips his right hand tighter. Okabe gets shocked to feel the tighter grip and tries to see if she is waking up, but still no luck. However what gets strange is when she begins to cry and call out one word. "Papa…"
Okabe gets shocked to hear the word Papa. It would seem she is beginning to remember her father. This then makes him think that last time they were in The Realm Of Steiner, a glowing orb appeared to help restore some of Kagari's memories. With that in mind, Okabe decides just like last time, look around for another glowing orb to see if it helps her at all. Soon enough, far in the distance, massive gear wheels open up, and reveal a glowing orb. This is all triggered thanks to Kagari remembering something important to her. What is strange is how this time, there are gear wheels that are part of this realm. It is like they are in a different part of the realm then they were in last time.
Okabe picks up Kagari in his arms and carries her over to the orb. It hurts to walk along the way as he is still recovering from the pain. While heading over, he thinks about how Kagari is a person of the unknown, and yet, she is very special. This girl has a Reading Steiner ability unlike any other and wants her to recover her memories to find out about who she really is, because he always had the feeling she does have a special connection to him. He wants to help her recovering every memory she has lost throughout her stay in the year 2021. After reach close enough, Okabe sets down Kagari, and he walks over the the gear wheels, where he slowly takes the orb and holds it in his hand. He take a moment to see the images the orb is displaying, and it is shocking. There are now displaying stuff that appears to be Okabe himself talking a lot to someone, and how much he is still the same delusional mad scientist as he normally is.
He however decides puts his curiosity aside, and walks over to the unconscious Kagari, and holds the orb above her body. The orb does nothing for a moment, but then, the orb glows, and disperse into many small glowing particles. The particles then all gradually disappear into Kagari's brain, before nothing is left. A minute passes, before Kagari finally begins to regain consciousness in The Realm of Steiner. She takes a moment to question where she is and what happened.
"Are you alright, Kagari?" Okabe asks.
Sheitakes a moment to see the man in front of her, and responds. "Yea, Okar-"
Suddenly, Kagari and Okabe begin to experience a huge headache that begins to force them out of The Realm of Steiner. Before Kagari does however, she focuses on remembering the man who was in front of her, and tries her absolute best to remember his face. Then, it clicked. She remembers seeing the man through a monitor and talking to him through there before, with the same tone, hair and facial features. Most of the memories of him came together. She finally remembers who he is really is, just before leaving The Realm of Reading Steiner.
As the sun begins to set, Daru, Maho and Kurisu are in a van heading straight to Okabe's location. They all are concerned for them as Future Suzuha speaks with them.
"They are stuck somewhere underneath the building, I can't get in touch with them either!" says Suzuha. She is with the special forces, trying to find a way inside the underground floor to find Kagari and Okabe
"Please, keep looking! Keep looking all you can!" says Kurisu as she is really worried for Okabe and Kagari.
"What the hell really happened over there/" Daru wonders, as he drives as fast as he can.
Inside the building, Okabe regains consciousness, and back to reality. He looks around to see where he is at, and nothing seems strange at first. Then, he sees Kagari on the floor, also unconscious. He gets very worried and tries to move next to her, but he couldn't. He notices his hands are tied together, making him realize he is currently trapped, but this also includes Kagari too.
After trying to resist for a moment, heels begin clicking on the floor, getting closer and closer to him, while also applauding him. Okabe turns to the direction of the noise, and it is slowly revealed to be the same female who wears the motorcycle suit and helmet, the one who he handed over the flash drive. "Congratulations on tearing this place apart, Rintaro Okabe." she says. "You have given me a flash drive that would give my laptop a malware and already had a timer to delete the teleportation research when I looked through most of it."
Okabe tries to break loose again, but it fails. "However, it didn't go well for you in the end. Now you are stuck here as my prisoner, along with this girl, who I'm surprised you brought along. I don't know who she is, but it was a bad thing to bring her here."
Okabe tries to resist once more, but it fails. Then, Kagari who was lying unconscious begins to slowly move, while the female continues to speak. "So, Rintaro Okabe, I will ask you, and I hope you will cooperate to make this easy. Where is the teleportation research?"
Okabe looks down, as he realizes this may be all over. Kagari begins to move more as she is slowly regaining focus.
However, the female then gets angry and pulls out a pistol. "I will ask only once more. Where is the teleportation research?!"
Okabe believes now this may be the end of his life. He has nowhere to run, and cannot escape this faith of being stuck under the American Organization. However, he kept his cool, and decided if he was going to die, then he was going to die who he really was. He looks up to the scientist and puts on his persona. "Do you really think the insane mad scientist will hand over research that is a part of my lab to an enemy? No, my job is to plunge this world into chaos! If I am going to die, then I will die without giving out any information!"
Kagari begins opening her eyes, and gets on her knees as she can begin to see again. She looks around to hear what is all the loud talking about. She slowly turns to see Okabe, tied up on the ground, with the unknown woman looking down on him.
The unknown woman has had enough. She begins to pull the gun to load the gun and prepare to shoot. She points the gun at Okabe, as the moment arrives. She gives her final words. "That is too bad. It would have been great to see your legacy grow." She sighs. "Goodbye, Rintaro Okabe."
Okabe looks at the barrel of the gun, as he waits to see the fire of the barrel shooting a bullet at him. His heart beats loud as he believes this is the end.
Suddenly, Kagari regains full consciousness and instantly remembers everything that is happening. She begins to resist greatly as she begins to cry and scream. "No! No, don't shoot him! Please! Please….. don't shoot my PAPA!
The scream of the word Papa, echoes through the room, as everyone is in shock. Okabe turns to Kagari in shock as what he just heard. "K-Kagari…. What…..did you just say?"
Kagari cries a lot. "P-Pa...….pa." She resists some more.
The unknown female turns in shock to hear her correctly. After a moment of silence she begins to laugh. "I can't believe this. Rintaro Okabe, you have a daughter already?! This is absolute news! That means I have a famous scientist, and his daughter! What a family!"
Kagari stops crying a bit and turns to the female. "You. You are the lady who used to be a professor for Papa at that University!"
Okabe is shocked to hear Kagari say that. The female then looks at her. "Oh? And do you know who I am?"
Kagari hesitates a moment, before responding. "Judy…...Reyes." she replies.
Okabe's eyes widen as he now wonders if Kagari is correct. The unknown female then decides to take off her helmet, slowly revealing who Kagari guessed. It is Judy Reyes. "I am surprised how this girl knows about me already. I have never met you in my life."
Okabe could not believe who the person behind this organization is. Judy Reyes, Professor of Viktor Chondria University. "H-How…...could you do this?!" There is a pause as Okabe's rage begins to grow. "Don't you guys have teleportation research already?! Professor Leskinen is with you guys right?! You guys should have the research already!"
Reyes gives off a quick laugh "Ha. We would have never done this had Professor Leskinen not denied us access to the research!"
The response shocks Okabe. "What…...do you mean?" he asks.
"Unfortunately, I cannot give you all our information, but I will tell you this before you die. There are two sides of Viktor Chondria University. There is the one you know, and then the shadow of it. I belong to the shadow. We are an organization separate from what you expect. However, even then, I belong to a group far more powerful. An organization who calls themselves a Committee." There is a pause. "However, because of that, he refused to allow us to take part of the teleportation research! And yet, he allowed some outsiders into it, and that is your lab!"
Okabe is shocked to hear two organizations are part of one University. He now wonders If the organization Judy Reyes manages is similar to SERN, or someone different. And just who is this Committee Reyes speaks of? Before he can think however, Reyes speaks again. "Well, enough of this." She points the gun at Okabe's head. "How about we finish what we started? I just wonder though, if you have a daughter, who is the girl's mother? I wonder if it's Kurisu Makise." There is a pause. "Well, whatever. This is goodbye to you, insane mad scientist."
"No! No do IT! Please!" says Kagari as she begins to cry and scream for the enemy to not shoot Okabe.
However, then a door suddenly bursts open, and who enters quickly is Future Suzuha, who takes point and shoots the gun out of Reyes's hand, making her scream in pain as she falls to the ground. Then, from behind Suzuha, the special forces arrive and take down every guard around the room. Securing Okabe, Kagari, and now Judy Reyes. Everything is now fine, as Suzuha and the Special Forces come to save their friends.
The day turns night, as everything has come to an end, a day of a battle between life and death. The police and the authorities have arrived to arrest Judy Reyes and a few of the guards who are alive. A few ambulances arrive to attend to the wounded. This includes Kagari and Okabe. However, they are both in the end just fine. Okabe eventually reunites with his lab members, and walks back to the truck he brought. There, he is greeted by his friends.
"Okarin!" says Mayuri. Everyone then runs over to Okabe to greet him and see he is alright.
"Hello, everyone." says Okabe.
Kurisu then walks in front of everyone, as she hugs and cries a bit on his body, as she was really concerned for her boyfriend. "I'm so glad you are ok." she says.
OKabe hugs her to feel her warmth that he is alive from the intense situation against the American Organization. Then, he gives her a nice kiss on the lips to even go further in his bond with her. "Yes I am alright, Kurisu. It is great to see you."
However, now the newest thing occurs. Kagari has finished with the medic and runs back to the lab members.
"Oh Kagari-chan! Tuturu!" says Mayuri.
However, Kagari ignores her, as she was more excited to finally see and remember her father. "There you are!" She runs all the way to him and hugs him tightly. "Papa!"
Okabe is shocked to the core again as Kagari calling him Papa is still occurring. But this now also applies to the rest of the lab members, as everyone could not believe what they just heard.
"Pa-?!" says Kurisu with shock.
"Papa?!" says everyone with shock.
"You mean she is calling papa to..." says Luka.
"Okabe-san?" Maho questions.
This begins to get Faris's attention and gets her curious. "Hey, Kaga-nyan? Why are you calling Kyouma Papa-nyan?"
Kagari smiles. "That is because I remember Rintaro Okabe is my real Papa. He gave my my full name after all, Kagari Okabe!"
"EEEEHHHHHH?!" says everyone with immense shock, as the day comes to an end.
