Over the ride back to Duckberg, Dewey found that he wasn't particularly fond of Liam. He was adventurous, funny, was great with Webby. Basically all the stuff Dewey was. And for some reason that bugged him. Not to mention that Liam was somewhat handsome. That seemed to annoy Dewey the most. He couldn't describe the feeling he had towards him. He just didn't like him.
After a few hours of flying, Liam had fallen asleep. Webby leaned against him. "Something's bugging you," she said.
Dewey gave her a look. "No, I'm fine," he said.
Webby smirked at him. "Come on, tell me what's wrong! You've been acting distant the whole trip home," she urged.
Dewey's eyes wandered to Liam, snoring loudly in his seat. Webby caught his glance. She smiled at him. "Is someone... jealous?" she teased.
Dewey turned red. "Jealous? Me? Of what?" he asked.
Webby grinned. "There's no other reason for you not to like him. He's exactly like you! Are you afraid he might take your spot as my best friend?" she asked.
Dewey hid his face in his shirt so she wouldn't see him blush. "Something like that," he said. Webby nodded with a chuckle.
"Oh, Dewey, you'll always be my best friend no matter what!" she said, giving him a hug. That made the duckling flush even harder.
The plane started to shake. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are starting to reach out destination. Please do not be alarmed when we crash," Launchpad announced on the radio. Webby and Dewey rolled there eyes.
Webby tapped on Liam's shoulder, causing him to wake up. "We're almost to the mansion," she said. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and walked to the side of the plane. Looking out the window, he was amazed at the sights of Duckberg.
Dewey eyed the teen. "Watch your back, Liam," he said under his breath.
Webby skipped out of the Sun Chaser humming. Dewey and Liam followed. When Webby stepped inside their house, she called, "Granny! I'm home!" Beakly came from around the corner and scooped Webby up.
"Webigail! I was so worried!" she exclaimed. Beakly set Webby down.
"Granny, why are you freaking out so much?" she questioned.
Beakly gathered her composure. "Nothing. You just... forgot to tell me you left that's all," she said.
Webby looked at her suspiciously. "Okay. I'll tell you next time. Oh! Granny! I brought a friend!" she smiled. Dewey and Liam came in. Webby dragged Liam forward. "This is Liam," she introduced.
Beakly's eyes widened. "Liam?" she asked.
Liam stuck out his hand. "That's my name," he said. Beakly shook his hand, a little off.
Beakly shook her feeling off. "So, um, Liam, what brings you here?" she said, trying to make conversation.
"Webby wanted me to meet Scrooge McDuck," he explained.
Beakly raised an eyebrow. "So she brought you all the way here from Mouseton?" she said.
Liam shrugged. Then he stopped. "How'd you know I was from Mouseton?"
Before Beakly could answer, Webby pulled Liam away. "Let me introduce you to everybody else," she said.
Beakly watched after them, and Dewey went too. Beakly pulled out her phone and started to dial. But she was stopped when Ben called her first.
"Oh my gosh! They're gone!" he shouted without greeting.
"Relax, he's here," she calmed.
"He's there?! And why should I be calm about that?" he asked.
Beakly put a hand to her forehead. "Because at least he's not missing. But I'll protect them," she said.
"Oh, you'll protect them. I feel so much better now," he said sarcastically.
Beakly frowned. "Look. You know I don't like you, and I know you don't like me. But can we just put that aside to get them back to a safe place?" she sighed.
"You just want to protect them from the truth of what you did that night," he sneered.
"Alright, fine I don't want her to know. But we have to keep the truth from them for other reasons too," she argued.
There was silence between them. Beakly spoke up. "I'll convince him to go back."
"Hurry, before he figures it out. They're not as naive as you think," Ben said. Beakly hung up. Man, that guy got under her skin.
...
Stepping out of his ship, Don Karnage breathed in the fresh air. He traced his sharp teeth with his tongue, deep in thought. One of his crew men stood nearby. "Sir, we are ready to unload our cargo," he said. Don Karnage waved a hand, giving the men permission to unload. The crew began taking the heavy crates and moving them.
A old vulture came out to meet the wolf. This was the man they were delivering stolen goods to. "Captain Karnage," the vulture greeted with a nod. Don stood with his hands behind his back. The vulture raised an eyebrow.
"Something on your mind, captain?" he asked.
"Yesterday, I saw girl," Don began.
The vulture listened. "So? You meet lots of people being a sky pirate," he commented.
Don went on. "I've met that girl before, but just never thought anything of it. That is, until I saw her knife," he said.
The vulture was now intrigued. "Her knife?"
Don nodded. "Yes, the man who made that knife is someone I hate very much," he grumbled. He clicked his tongue, reminiscing. "In fact, part of the reason I hate him is that knife. But now... that girl..." The pirate captain drifted in thought. "That girl is Vanderquack's daughter. And I hate Vanderquack more than Dewey Duck," he said. "If that girl is any part of that man, I will make sure that his legacy comes to an end. And I will kill her."
...
Webby showed Liam around the house. "This is my room," she began, pulling him along. She showed him up into the attic. "This is the attic, don't mind the mess," she said, referring to the storage boxes.
Dewey joined them up in the attic. "Alright, we showed him the whole house, I think he's ready to go back to his own home," he said bitterly. Webby just smirked at him.
"But I haven't met Scrooge McDuck yet! Isn't that the whole reason I'm here?" he asked.
Webby nodded, remembering. "Oh, right. Well, he's at work now, so we'll have to wait," she said. Then an idea lit up in her head. Dewey saw the sparkle in her eyes. He shook his head. But she ignored him. "Hey! Why don't you have dinner with us! Then you can meet our entire family!" she squealed.
Liam smiled in agreement. "Sure!"
Dewey climbed down the ladder and went downstairs. Was Webby right? Was he jealous? Dewey folded his hands. Jealous of what? Dewey thought it over. He would blush whenever he touched her, even something as simple as rubbing up against each other on the hall. He always felt so happy around her. And he felt like Liam was imposing on that.
Dewey came across Beakly, who was talking to herself in the hall. "Hey, Mrs. B," he greeted, distracting himself from his thoughts.
She turned to him. "Hello, Dewey. Where's Liam and Webby?" she asked.
Dewey shrugged. "I don't know, she's showing him all around the house."
Beakly raised an eyebrow. "And when do you think he'll be leaving?" she wondered.
"Um, Webby told him he could stay for dinner so..." he said.
Beakly thought a minute. "Just got to keep the secret until then," she said under her breath.
Dewey raised an eyebrow. "What?" he asked.
"Nothing, why don't you go play with them?" she said. She motioned for him to leave, so Dewey did so.
Climbing up the stairs, he thought to himself. Was Beakly hiding something? He smiled to himself. "Detective Dewey is on the case! I bet if I figure out the secret, Webby will have to keep me as her best friend!" he cheered.
Following closet behind Beakly, Dewey listened for anything she said. He stood unsettlingly close behind her while she washed dishes. "Dewey, what do you want?" she questioned, noticing him.
"Um... nothing," he covered, taking a step back, giving her space.
She raised an eyebrow. "Uh huh... can you go do nothing somewhere else?" she asked. "Why don't you go play with Liam and Webby?" she suggested. She spoke Liam's name bitterly.
"How come you don't like him?" Dewey wondered.
She seemed taken by surprise. "What do you mean?" she asked.
"You act like you don't like Liam," he said.
"I- I- I never said I didn't like him. And who are you to speak? It's obvious you don't like him either," she said.
Dewey blushed. "I'm not jealous," he grumbled.
Beakly smirked. "So that's the problem. Jealous of Webigail, I presume," she said.
Dewey crossed his arms. "I'm not jealous," he assured.
"Sure. Now I've got to start preparing dinner. I've got to set one extra place for Liam," she said, shooing him away.
Going up to his room, Dewey found Huey and Louie in there. "Hey Dew! Webby just introduced us to Liam. Isn't he great?" Huey said.
Dewey shot his brother a look. "Yeah, great," he said.
Louie smirked at Dewey. "Yeah, he's like you but, what's the word? Oh right, actually funny," Louie commented.
Dewey glared at him. "He's not that funny. And for your information, I'm hilarious," he said, hands on his hips.
Louie decided to tease him more. "Ooh, is that the green eyed monster of jealousy I see?" he remarked.
Dewey threw his hands up. "Why does everyone think I'm jealous of Liam!"
"Because you are."
Dewey jumped on Louie, and the two started wrestling on the ground.
Huey rolled his eyes. "Please, Lou, if Dewey were jealous, he would have to have something to be jealous of like-" Huey stopped mid-sentence. "Oh my gosh, you like Webby!" Huey exclaimed, jumping up.
After pulling Louie's hood over his face, Dewey laughed at Huey's theory. "What! That's ridiculous!" he covered.
Despite being pretty much defeated by his older brother, Louie went on making fun of him. "Dewey and Webby, sitting in a tree!" he sang. Huey joined in. "K-I-S-S-I-N-"
Dewey socked Louie in the arm. "Ow! Watch it!" he snapped. Dewey was just happy he got them to shut up.
...
Sitting around the table, everyone got ready to eat dinner. Scrooge sat at the head of the table. Next to him was Liam, next to Liam was Webby, next to Webby was Dewey, across from Dewey was Beakly, next to Beakly was Launchpad, next to Launchpad was Huey, and next to Huey was Louie. Della leaned against the wall, preferring to stand rather than to sit. Donald sat at an extra seat next to her.
"So, lad, tell us a bit about yourself," Scrooge began, trying to make conversation. Liam looked super excited.
"The Scrooge McDuck is talking to me?" he gasped.
"Yes, I was referring to ye. So?" Scrooge pressed on.
"I um... I'm from Mouseton, and I live at a knife forgery with my uncle Ben. We run the shop together," he explained.
"Anything else? Hobbies? Interests?" Scrooge asked.
Liam thought a minute. "Well, this is going to sound a bit creepy, but I consider myself to be a Scrooge enthusiast," he said, hoping Scrooge would approve. "I've read every volume of the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, and practically every other book written about you," Liam smiled. Then he stopped. "Well, except one that I've never been able to find, Scrooge's favorite smells," he admitted.
Scrooge raised an eyebrow at the fact that someone would write a book about his favorite smells.
Webby leaned over to Liam. "Cookies," she whispered. Liam gasped. "I knew it!"
"Hey, that's like Webby," Launchpad put in.
"I know right! It's like we're so in sync!" Webby beamed. "We finish each other's-" she started.
"Sentances!" Liam finished. Dewey grumbled something under his breath. Huey saw him and allowed a snicker.
"Well, I'm sure your uncle will be glad when you return home tomorrow," Beakly said.
Liam looked disappointed. "Oh. Well, I was kind of hoping I could stay a little longer," he frowned.
Webby jumped up. "Granny, can he stay the weekend!" she asked, a wide smile plastered on her face.
"Absolutely not," Beakly responded.
Webby settled down. "Aw, why not?" she wondered.
"Because I'm sure his uncle will want him back soon," Beakly replied.
"Or you don't like him," Dewey commented.
"Dewey!" Della snapped at him for his rudeness.
"What! It's true!" Dewey defended.
"It is not," Beakly said. Liam's face turned red, uncomfortable.
"Guys, we have a guest!" Huey reminded as Della, Dewey, and Beakly started arguing.
Launchpad joined in too. "I like shouting!" he shouted.
Scrooge face palmed. Then, leaning his head on his hand, he said, "This is why we don't have people over."
"Can you just tell us why you don't like him!" Dewey demanded.
Beakly glared at him. "It's none of your business," she said.
Della tried to separate them. "Dewey, just drop it!" she ordered.
Dewey frowned. "No. Tell us why! You're hiding something!"
"If I were hiding something, it would be for a good reason," she countered.
Webby was now hiding her face under her plate in embarrassment. "This doesn't normally happen," she told Liam, hoping he wouldn't think they were nuts.
"Why don't you like Liam!"
"I never said I didn't like him. In fact, I think he's a wonderful kid."
"Then why are you acting weird?"
Beakly huffed. "Fine, you want to know why!"
She was starting to let her anger get the best of her. Dewey and Beakly stared off.
"Liam is Webby's brother!"
Everyone went silent. Then suddenly, "WHAT!?"
