Voldemort had gotten rid of James Potter and was slowly waking toward the nursery. Inside was his target, the young Potter child, protected by his mother, Lily Potter.

Voldemort blew the door wide open. The Dark Lord saw Lily crouching, drawing a rune on her son's face. Enraged, knowing what she had just done, he sent the Killing Curse at Lily. Lily fell on the ground dead.

Voldemort looked at the Potter child, his wand still raised. Then, he looked back at the corpse of Lily and gave a cold laugh. "Did you really think I would fall for such a trick?" he said. "It was ingenious yet, you failed. I shall kill your son another way..."

Then, the Dark Lord looked at the child again. His green eyes were staring back at him. He then remembered the name of the child as it was reported by his spy Pettigrew. Voldemort couldn't help but rant. "Honestly, what is wrong with you people, naming a child Avada Kedavra Pot-" he started but was interupted when a green spell shot out of his wand.

Voldemort only had time to say "Shit." before the Killing Curse rebounded and hit him back. Voldemort felt his body dissovle and his soul flew away to a safer location.

A few minutes later, an old man with a long, silver beard entered the nursery. The old man looked very sad and collapsed on his knees when he saw the body of Lily Potter. He started weeping when he heard a cry. Looking at the crib, Albus Dumbledore saw that James and Lily's son looking back at him.

"Avada! You're alive!" said Dumbledore, this time crying in relief. Dumbledore withdrew his wand and healed Avada's wound on the forehead. "Her ritual worked." he muttered. Taking the last Potter in his arms, he looked back at Lily's body and said "I shall make sure that your sacrifice will be honoured and your son will be happy." Dumbledore exited the cottage and said to the child "Let's go find your Uncle Padfoot." and apparated away.
