So this is the third part to Dodgy Run in and Another Run In as requested by ALIMOO1971. I changed what she suggested a little to make it fit but it's basically the same as what she asked for. Hope you like it :D
Jacob came sprinting through the gate, not even stopping to say hello to anyone before he continued to sprint out of the gate room and towards the lift. He only stopped running once he reached the lifts but bounced from foot to foot as he waited impatiently for the lift to arrive. Once it did, and the doors had opened, he got straight in and pushed the button for the floor where he needed to change lifts to get to the surface. As the lift travelled upwards he continued to shift from foot to foot, hoping that no one else had pushed the call button on any of the floors between him and the second lift, he really didn't want to have to stop. He was in luck; he reached the floor with stopping once.
Jacob stepped out of the lift and hurried over to the second lift, where he could see Daniel and Teal'c standing. Teal'c was using his arm to prevent the doors from shutting while Daniel was holding a bundle of clothing, which Jacob guessed was for him to change into.
As they saw him approaching Teal'c removed his arm. Jacob slipped inside as the doors began to shut before he gave a nod, breathless hello and thank you, to the two men. Daniel just smiled in response and as the lift began to move gave Jacob the clothes before he and Teal'c turned away to give the Tok'ra some privacy to change into more earth appropriate clothing than his current Tok'ra robes.
He finished changing just as the lift came to a halt and the three of them all ran towards the exit. "I'm driving," Daniel explained as security waved them through, not making them stop because General Landry had phoned a head to tell them to let the three runners through immediately.
They all quickly got into Daniel's car which was parked right outside the entrance, engine running. Teal'c and Daniel got into the front while Jacob all but collapsed into the back, his breathing heavy.
As soon as the car doors were shut Daniel drove towards the security gate, where the security waved them through quickly, and then towards the town of Colorado Springs its self, keeping to the speed limit, but inly just.
On the other side of town Jack ran down the steps of the cargo plane he had hitched a ride from Washington on. It hadn't been massively comfortable or glamorous but it had been fast, which was all Jack really cared about right now. As soon as his feet hit the tarmac he sprinted towards the car where he could see Walter Harriman waiting for him, engine running and door wide open. He slammed the door and grabbed the seat belt as he yelled to Walter, "Go, go, go."
Walter made no response but the car jumped forward as Walter started down the runway, heading for the exit onto the main road. Jack did his seat belt before he began to bounce up and down on the seat, anxious to reach their destination and to reach it quickly.
Usually Walter would talk to Jack when he picked him up from the airport, as he did when Sam wasn't around or was too busy to do it. They would talk about how Jack was doing in Washington and how everything was at the SGC. Today however, Walter remained silent, he knew that Jack just wanted to get there so he just concentrated on getting there, he didn't want to have to explain to Sam why Jack was in the hospital after a car crash.
Walter pulled up in front of their destination just as Jacob got out of Daniel's car. Jack saw him and quickly got out too. They didn't even greet each other before they both took off again and headed in through the automatic doors.
They both ran to the front desk and Jack was the one to speak, his voice coming out in a rush of words, while Jacob stood impatiently beside him. "Samantha Carter," Jack puffed, "She was brought in a few hours ago. Where is she?"
The lady behind the desk didn't ask any questions before she started to type away on the computer in front of her, Jack's military uniform and the two's clear impatience making her work fast. "Maternity ward," she answered after what felt like a life time, "Forth floor, room 411."
"Thanks," Jack shouted over his shoulder as the two of them took off again. Wordlessly they headed past the crowded lift and towards the stairs.
Side by side the bounded up the stairs two at a time. When they reached the right floor they burst through the doors then both came to a halt to figure out which way they needed to go. It didn't take them long as they both heard Sam yelling Jack's name. They took off again, heading in the direction of the shout, and opened the door just in time to see Sam let go of a poor nurse's crushed hand and to hear the doctor declare," She's crowning."
Jack and Jacob both rushed to Sam's side, one of either side of the bed, and they both grabbed one of Sam's hands in their own.
"Hey there Sam," Jack greeted, pushing Sam's sweaty bangs to one side and gently kissing her forehead.
"You're late," Sam muttered, clearly tired after what had been a hard few hours.
Nothing else was said for a moment because Sam had another contraction and as she pushed she squeezed both Jack and Jacob's hands. They knew how strong Sam was so they were expecting it, but Jacob couldn't help but feel sorry for the nurse who had been there when they'd arrived. Jack would have felt sorry for her but he was too busy helping Sam breath through everything.
Sam's head fell back against the pillow and Jack took the chance to say, "I'm not late, you're just early."
The earned him a small smile from Sam as the Doctor said, "Once last push ok Sam, nearly there."
Sam nodded and then pushed again when she felt the next contraction. The Doctor lifted up the baby and quickly wrapped it. Thinking everything was finished Jacob made to let go of Sam's hand but then saw that the Doctor had returned to Sam and was obviously waiting for something else. Before he could ask what was going on Sam gripped his hand again and pushed once more. The Doctor helped to pull out the second baby and handed it to the nurse before turning back to Sam and saying, "Once last push for the placenta and you're all done Sam." Sam nodded tiredly as the Doctor continued to speak, "You did amazingly." There were two cries from where the nurses were sorting the babies and the Doctor smiled. "You have two beautiful and healthy babies Sam, well done."
The nurses came back over just as Sam pushed out the placenta and then the Doctor asked, "Would you like to meet your son and daughter?"
Sam nodded and Jack moved to sit beside her on the bed, to help her, as she positioned her arms ready to accept the two bundles. Jacob took a step back, away from the bed, giving this new family a chance to meet before the surprise bundles met him too.
The Doctors and nurses all took their leave as well, knowing that there weren't any problems or complications that were going to need dealing with.
Sam and Jack took a moment to meet their children, staring in wonder at the two lives that made, before they both looked towards Jacob. Jacob stepped forward and asked, "Why didn't you tell me you were having twins?" He kept his voice level because he didn't want to upset the babies, but he was beginning to feel angry about being kept in the dark.
"We wanted it to be a surprise," Jack explained, "No one except us knew for sure that Sam was carrying twins. People guessed because of how big she got and because of how quickly she got that big, but we never told any of them that they were right."
Jacob frowned and Sam saw him step forward. "Don't you dare chase Jack are the room dad," she muttered, "Don't you dare."
"But Sam," Jacob complained, sounding like a child.
"But nothing dad," Sam replied in a tired but firm voice, "It was a joint decision that we chose to make, you start chasing Jack and you won't get to meet your grandchildren because I certainly don't have the energy to stop you any other way."
Jacob rolled his eyes but nodded. Sam smiled happily as Jack cuddled onto the bed beside her. As Jacob moved forward once more, there was a knock at the door and then Daniel and Teal'c stuck their heads around the door. Sam's tired smile turned into a beam as the two came in and stood around the bed, joining Jacob where he was now standing.
"We'd like to introduce you to our children," Jack began. He touched one of the babies and said, "Meet Danielle Elizabeth O'Neill." He then touched the head of the other baby and continued, "And Jacob George O'Neill."
Jacob beamed at the two of them, along with Teal'c, while Daniel stated, a huge grin on his face as he did so, "If those two are anything like their parents there's going to be an awful lot of running involved in their growing up."
Both babies cooed at his words and the adults all laughed quietly. It looked like the children were agreeing with that idea already.
