So this was the result of a suggestion from ALIMOO1971. Hope you like it.

"Carter," Jack called from the door to the lab, "Have you eaten yet?"

Sam looked up, away from her laptop where she had been furiously typing away, working on a way to make the gate diagnostics quicker to run. "Yes sir," she answered before she returned to her work.

Jack narrowed his eyes slightly but nodded. "Well I'll leave you to it then," he said, "Have fun."

"Thanks sir," Sam answered, "You too."

Jack turned and began to make his way to the mess so he could get some breakfast. He'd only just come in but it looked like Sam had been in for a while.

When he'd left the night before she'd been working on the same programme she was now. He'd stopped in on his way out and she'd assured him that she was nearly finished for the night.

Sam was once again concentrating fiercely on her laptop when Jack came back ten minutes later.

"Major Carter," he barked from the doorway, "Since when have you thought you were able to lie to your commanding officer?"

Sam looked over her laptop and gave Jack a sheepish look. "Sorry sir," she muttered, "But I was on a roll with getting this finished."

Jack shook his head and stepped into the lab. "Not only have you not eaten yet Carter," he said, "But you didn't go home last night either, after you told me that you would."

"I have eaten sir," Sam disagreed quickly.

"A power bar and a million cups of coffee don't count," Jack informed her, "Which is why you are now going to save what you're doing and I'm going to escort you to the mess and make sure you eat something with actual nutritional value. After that Janet has said you can use one of the beds in an empty isolation room to catch up on some of the sleep you've missed."

"Sir I'm fine really," Sam protested, "I slept a little earlier and I had a load of fruit to eat as well."

"Carter," Jack stated, "If you're not already then pretty soon you'll be running on empty. So you have a choice, you either come to the mess and then have a nap, or I send you home for the day and order the guards not to let you back in."

Sam sighed. She saved what she was working on and then stood. "Lead on sir," she muttered.

"Oh no, after you Carter," Jack said, gesturing for her to walk ahead of him.

Sam sighed again but made her way out of the lab, Jack following along behind her.
