Alya sat in her chair, uncomfortable. Marinette was quiet and her eyes were staring forward with no expression. Alya tried to shrug it off. Maybe Marinette was just surprised that she had gotten akumatised for the first time. Alya settled on that, but a thought in the back of her mind saying that's not it… Alya chose not to listen to it, but she got ticked that it wasn't clear what was on her mind. Marinette wasn't sure herself, and maybe they would learn at night, perfectly clear with bright stars sparkling and Marinette standing on her balcony…
"Princess?" Cat Noir cautiously approached Marinette.
"Hey, Cat. I got akumatised," Marinette said calmly. "I nearly hurt you. I watched it over thirty times."
"Princess! I'm fine! You did nothing wrong," Cat Noir tried to sooth. He put his arms around Marinette.
"No, I did…" Marinette didn't finish her sentence because Cat Noir had kissed her on the cheek.
"You didn't. And remember, I'll always be there to protect you. Always," Cat Noir said.
"But what if you're not. There has been times where the akuma has affected you," Marinette said, digging her face deep into her arms.
Cat Noir lifted Marinette up and held her close to him. "I'll never leave you alone. I promise."
Marinette started softly sobbing. She was pained by one small thing she realized, she didn't want Cat Noir to have only half her heart. She held tight as she decided to let her heart beat until every bit of Adrien was gone. Cat Noir held Marinette tightly until she loosen her grip, fast asleep. She had cried herself to sleep. "I'm in love with you, Princess, and you are my queen. I hurt when you hurt, so I will protect you always," Cat Noir said quietly in Marinette's ear.
Suggestion: This is an extra, but I love music to tell the story. So, if you can imagine Marinette and Cat Noir singing this together, then listen to "Highway Don't Care" by Tim McGraw. This is how after this chapter they feel about each other.
