What's a Black Butler fanfiction without a party? And fun party chapters are actually the shit, I was just really excited about this chapter which is why you get two in one weekend. And there's an "Important" author's note formatted like this at the end that's not actually important but you should look at anyway.
"You wanted to see me?" Angeline asked, walking into Ciel's study. He looked up from his paperwork and nodded, putting down his quill.
"I'm to be at a charity ball tonight for the company." Ciel began.
"O-kay?" Angeline replied, wondering what that had to do with her.
"I never go to gatherings without Sebastian, and the three other servants have been given the week off. You'll have to come with us."
Angeline shook her head. Her family hadn't been even a little bit as well known as the Phantomhives, but surely her disappearance was known. She wasn't ready to be around other people and answer their questions while others gossiped while her back was turned. "I can't."
Ciel raised his eyebrows. "Do you have other plans?"
Angeline gave him an exasperated look in response.
"Sebastian is coming and you and I both know Ash will use you being home alone as a chance to strike. I'm sorry, but you have no choice. It's for your own safety."
Angeline sighed, tapping her fingers against the desk. "Fine."
Ciel gave a satisfactory nod, excusing Angeline from his study.
Three hours later, Angeline was clinging to the bedpost as Paula tightened a corset to a torturous extent. Angeline gritted her teeth and grunted in pain as she tugged again, coughing as the breath left her lungs. "Ah!" she wheezed as Paula gave one more hard pull. "Are you trying to kill me?" She asked.
"Sorry," Paula shrugged, tying off the corset. Angeline was regretting not wearing a corset these past few months, it had been comfortable at the time but at least she'd be used to it now.
Now that the hard part was over, Angeline gave little complaint as she was put into an extravagant violet and white gown. She wasn't going to lie to herself, it did suit her quite well.
Lizzie, who had been helped by Paula previous to Angeline, knocked on the door before entering as Paula styled Angeline's hair. She smiled at Angeline before doing a double take of Angeline's dress. "Paula, where did you get that frock?"
"Sebastian gave it to me, who said Ciel ordered him to fetch it for Angeline. Why?" Paula asked as she jabbed a pin into Angeline's hair, stabbing her scalp by mistake.
"Ow!" Angeline exclaimed.
"Apologies." Paula said.
Lizzie's eyes cast over the dress again. "It's lovely, that's all."
After Paula instructed Angeline to put on a long white pair of gloves and white heels, she was brought to a full length mirror. Angeline raised an eyebrow as she looked herself up and down. It was different, but she liked it. The dress accentuated her curves, or lack thereof, quite nicely. Her hair fell around her shoulders in soft curls and half of it was put up in a braided bun. A few strands escaped from their confines and framed her delicate features. Perhaps she could handle going to this ball.
Angeline followed Lizzie as they descended the staircase and Lizzie met Ciel at the bottom. Ciel offered her his arm and she took it with a gleeful smile before they headed off to the carriage.
Is Ciel blushing? Angeline thought, smiling as she realized how deeply Ciel cared for his betrothed as he waited for her to enter the carriage.
Angeline watched the scenery blur as they headed toward the party. Social gatherings had never been something she was good at, she'd been to only two before her father allowed her to stay home. Her anxiety grew as she saw people heading toward the house in pairs and she realized she'd be one of the few going in alone.
Ciel was the first to exit the carriage and Lizzie followed with his help. Such a little gentleman, she thought coyly as she prepared to unwillingly draw attention to herself after Paula exited the carriage.
"May I?"
Angeline looked up quickly, startled to see Sebastian holding a hand out to her. "What?" She asked.
"I may be the Young Master's butler but I can still keep you company, you seem to find these things as dull as I do."
Angeline smiled. "Quite," She said, taking Sebastian's hand.
Angeline stood near the wall with a flute of champagne as she watched the party with a bored expression. Ciel was talking business with a couple that looked the same as every other snobby individual at the party while Sebastian stood obediently behind him. She sighed, sipping the champagne out of boredom.
Every now and then Angeline would notice a man's eye glance at her, but they would soon be scolded for gawking by their wives. Thank god she had not been asked to dance.
She was completely oblivious to a man with long platinum blond hair admiring her from across the room.
Such purity. The way she walks, so graceful and delicate, comparing her to a lotus blossom would not do her justice. He thought, placing his own flute on a nearby waiter's tray and striding across the room. "Are you lonely?" He asked when he reached her, making her jump and whirl around to face him.
"No." She said, lifting her glass to her lips.
"Have you no one here to keep you company? A lovely robin such as yourself shouldn't be alone." He purred, attempting to loop his arm around her waist.
Angeline stepped away from the strange man with her face contorted in disgust. "No, thank you. I'm fine."
This didn't faze him in the slightest. "Who might you be?"
"Angeline," She quipped, lifting the flute to her lips once again.
"An angelic name for an angelic girl," He started, making Angeline bristle. "I'm the Viscount of Druitt, Aleister Chamber."
At least he has the decency to introduce himself eventually, Angeline thought, finishing her champagne and setting the flute down on a nearby table. As she was about to walk away a dance began and the Viscount snatched her wrist. "Come Lotus Flower, we shall dance the night away!" He proclaimed, pulling her onto the dance floor.
Robin? Lotus flower? Where does he come up with this? She thought as she was pulled to the middle of the room. Aleister swept her around and she could see why women fell for his charms, but she wasn't fooled in the least. But she knew in order to get out of this she'd have to play nice.
After a few dances, Angeline smiled up at Aleister. "Excuse me, but I'm getting a bit tired. If I may rest-"
"Nonsense, the night is still young! You can dance on my feet if you're so tired,"
What the hell? She thought. How much has he had to drink?
"Excuse me, but I'm going to have to request to steal your dance partner."
Finally! Angeline thought, looking gratefully at Sebastian. Aleister reluctantly let Angeline go and Sebastian danced with her with much more grace than the Viscount had had. "You're always saving me," Angeline joked as they spun around the room. "Where have you been?"
"Does it matter?"
"I only thought you had meant to keep me company is all, and it would have saved me from having to dance with that Casanova," Angeline shrugged with a smile.
"I thought you didn't want my company, you should be terrified of me." Sebastian replied as his eyes glowed that mesmerizing pink. "After all I'm literally from Hell,"
Angeline couldn't tell whether or not the fluttering in her stomach was from fear. Sebastian was right, she should be scared, so why wasn't she?
Sebastian suddenly looked up and pulled Angeline closer to him, making his way to the side of the room. "Sebastian, what's wrong?" Angeline asked. He simply glanced down at her then up again. Her eyes widened upon realizing what was happening. "Here? Now? Does he really want to cause a scene now?" Angeline asked.
"I'm afraid so," Sebastian replied, looking at Ciel. The Earl's eyes flashed knowingly and he tipped his head forward, a silent agreement. "We need to get you out," He continued.
Angeline stifled a sigh. She was just starting to have a good time. The audible sound of heavy french doors swinging open interrupted the music as Ash flew into the house. "Where is Angeline?" He demanded, beginning to sweep his gaze across the room. He didn't appear to have his wings as he shoved past startled people on his way toward the back of the room where Angeline and Sebastian were.
"Sebastian," Angeline said, clutching the lapel of his coat to get his attention. His eyes flicked down to look at her. "Don't fight him now, please. Just get me out, he'll give up if he doesn't find me right away and try again another day."
Sebastian nodded once and gathered Angeline in his arms, swiftly and quietly leaping into various furniture and rails until finally they exited out of a second story window. The stupid angel didn't even notice their escape as he searched the crowd frantically for Angeline.
Angeline was sat at the end of the bed in her nightgown, brushing through her hair as a distraction from the fear that Ash would come looking for her tonight. She instead thought about her conflicting emotions toward the Phantomhive butler.
She started at a knock on her door then sighed, continuing to run the comb through her hair. "Enter,"
The door opened to reveal Sebastian with a silver platter holding a teacup and pot. "I have tea, if you want it."
"That sounds lovely," She said. "What kind?"
"Green tea imported from Japan," Sebastian replied, pouting the steaming liquid from the pot to the cup. Angeline lifted it and blew softly at the surface, still overtaken by her thoughts. "Is something bothering you?"
Angeline sipped at the scalding liquid despite it burning her tongue in order to think a few seconds more. "You haven't shown any intentions of hurting me. Despite you being a demon that could probably crush me at any time you please, I have decided..."
Sebastian waited patiently as she trailed off, seemingly lost in thought again.
"I've decided to trust you, for now. But watch yourself." She finished, sipping at the cooling tea again. Sebastian nodded once before beginning to exit the room. "Sebastian," She said before he could leave and he stopped, not turning around. "I'm afraid Ash will come tonight. He tried to find me at the party, I could be wrong, he could try again tonight."
"I assure you nothing will happen to you." Sebastian said.
"Stay with me, please." She said. "I'm scared."
Sebastian nodded and came back into the room, sitting in the chair in the corner. This was no different than any other night other than Angeline requested he stay, Ciel had given Sebastian orders to watch her at night. She didn't know of it because neither of them wanted to frighten her, it was only for her safety. Sebastian narrowed his eyes as he stared out the window and spotted Ash, relief washing over him when he saw then angel was going the opposite direction of the manor.
I DON'T WANT YOU TO THINK I'M GOING ALL TWILIGHT ON YOU GUYS OK SEBASTIAN IS NOT EDWARD CULLEN, CIEL LITERALLY TOLD SEBASTIAN TO DO THAT FOR ANGELINE'S SAFETY I WOULD NEVER MAKE SEBASTIAN A CREEP. Like honestly of course he'd never do that in any other circumstance, right?
So I have no idea where this story is going from here. I ran out of pre written chapters. (the old ending was really crappy so I have no more assistance from 8th grade me to write the next chapters I'm on my own now. Dammit past self, you're not helpful at all.)
Like, I know how I want it to end but I'm not really sure what I want to do up until that point. So it'll be awhile before I have my next writingasm.
kykyxstandler: I'm glad you like it! It takes awhile between updates most of the time, but you'll definitely see this story to the end if you decide to stick with it :)
alexc1209: yessss that's exactly how I view Ash, I mean it's only a story so I don't know if angels would ACTUALLY lust after humans, but that's pretty much the point I was trying to make with this story.
Also if any of you want to help me out, you can review or pm me a new summary of this story if you want, because the current one doesn't really say much about the story, and I really do suck at summaries. You don't have to but it would be a huge help to me.
