New Friends?

To say Jill's situation has gone from bad to worse would be a massive understatement. Just a few more days, and she would've been out of the city and finally get away from this dump. But then, a large monster smashed through her wall and likely would've killed her if she hadn't been saved by an familiar woman. But said woman could only hold the monster of for so long before it caught up with Jill again. It almost killed her, and would've if not for the intervention of a man named Carlos. Thanks to him the monster was defeated, allowing them to escape into the lobby of the subway.

"I think we're in the clear" Carlos said as they stop to catch their breaths.

"Hope so" Jill said.

"We've been bringing survivors here" Carlos said.

"Here, where?" Jill asked.

"My guys have converted some subway cars into a shelter. It's safe" Carlos said as he moves to help Jill to walk.

Jill stopped him "I'm fine".

"Personal space, OK. I get it. Let's go" Carlos said as he headed over to a closes gate "Aw, c'mon. Who's the dipshit that closed this? Sorry. We're gonna have to go around".

"Hey, what do you know about that monster?" Jill said as they headed down the hallways.

"Nothing. I've never seen anything like it. But it's no zombie. It knows what it wants and won't stop till it gets it. Don't you like that in a man?" Carlos asked jokingly.

Jill smiled for a brief moment "No thanks. He's all yours".

"Listen, I promise you're in good hands. I'm with the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service. U.B.C.S. for short" Carlos said.

This caused Jill to stop dead in her tracks "Are you kidding me? Are you fucking kidding me? You guys are the ones who caused all of this!".

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa. What are you talking about? We're just here to help people. What's wrong with Umbrella?" Carlos asked in utter confusion.

"What's wrong with Umbrella? Oh my god. Your company is responsible for infecting everyone!" Jill said is clear hatred.

"Yeah, uh, I don't know anything about all that. You don't have to trust me, but I'm going to the shelter. You comin'?" Carlos asked before moving on, Jill didn't trust him but it's not like she had anywhere else to go, so she begrudgingly followed him "C'mon. It's this way".

They enter a wagon of the train, where sits a harsh military man in a red beret. He didn't look to be in good shape, likely injured from an earlier encounter.

"Hey Captain. This fine young lady could use our help" Carlos said as he and Jill walked inside.

The Captain eyed Jill carefully before he spoke in a strong accent "Carlos, you didn't even think to ask fine young lady her name? She is an elite operative of R.P.D. Special Tactics and Rescue Service. Her name is… something... Valentine".

"It's Jill" Jill corrected, her tone calm but still on guard.

"Nice to meet you, Jill. I am U.B.C.S. Platoon Leader Mikhail Victor. My team was sent here to rescue civilians" The Captain now named Mikhail said.

"Right. How's that going for you?" Jill asked sarcastically.

"The city is completely cut off. Isolated. Most of the hundred thousand civilians will wind up dead. Ah, correction: undead. My platoon has suffered serious losses. Just keeping them alive is more than I can manage" Mikhail explained.

"Well, you can thank your corporate overlords for that" Jill said.

Mikhail's face shows he might be aware of that "Yes, well... We are doing all we can. If we can get this subway train moving... we can evacuate some survivors. But we need help. My men cannot do this alone".

Jill thinks for a moment before she spoke "Alright, I'm in" She then stood up and looked him in the eyes "But I am on their side. Not yours".

"Oh hey, hey, that's cool. We all want the same thing" Carlos said.

"Thank you, Jill" Mikhail said sincerely.

"Alright, supercop. Here you go. We can use this to stay in contact" Carlos said as he handed over a radio to Jill.

Jill gave him a look "I know what a radio is".

Carlos smiled "OK, first things first. We need to get you geared up. Head up to street level. You'll find supplies there".

"Alright" Jill said as she began to leave.

As she was about to walk out she noticed Carlos begin to treat Mikhail's wounds "Shit, Captain. They really took a chunk out of you".

"Nothing that I will miss" Mikhail said, he was putting on a brave face, but Jill could tell he was in great pain.

Jill shook her head and left. She then noticed a News papper and read some of it.

THE CANNIBAL MURDERS: A COMPLETE DIGEST
In the gray of the morning on September 25th, a frantic caller telephoned the R.P.D. to report an assault; a man described as "disheveled, like a vagrant" was attacking a passerby north of the Lambs Museum of Art. The responding officers discovered the mutilated corpse of a woman by some dumpsters nearby. Dozens of bite marks covered her body and she had been dismembered, suggesting she had been eaten—the third known incident of its kind to occur in Raccoon City this month.

So whodunit? Who's been munching on man-steak? We here at News Comet have a gnawing feeling that the so-called "cannibal disease" patients Spencer Memorial has been providing free treatment for since August might not be settling for just the cafeteria food.
Our reporters have infiltrated Spencer Memorial, asked the tough questions, and come back with horror stories that will 'make your stomach roil. Turn the page for the scoop.

Jill shook her head, those horror stories didn't hold a candle to what was happening right now. She goes upstairs to the lobby of the subway. As she does, Carlos contacts her over the radio.

"Jill, it's me again. You topside yet?" He asked.

"Working on it. So what's the plan?" Jill asked.

"The old tank's got me clearing the tracks. You mind getting the subway infrastructure back online?" Carlos asked,

"And how do I do that?" Jill asked.

"Let's start by restoring power. I'll navigate you to the substation once you hit the main road" Carlos said.

"Copy that. Let's do this fast" Jill said as she continued on after gearing up.

While all that was going on, Quiet has been taking a few minutes to rest up. That creature was more dangerous than she expected. It was easily more deadly than the Tyrant Quiet faced at the Mansion... in fact, it could even be more deadly than the tyrant Ahab faced during his confrontations with Umbrella. And Quiet was worried, she knew for a fact Tyrants were very hard to kill, and while a direct hit from a rockt launcher was enough to kill lesser tyrants, Quiet wasn't to confident that this monster would go down as easily.

Quiet then noticed Jill who was back outside and talking to someone over the radio "Carlos? I've reached the main avenue. Which way do I go?".

"See a big transmission tower? That's the substation. You'll have to circle around through an alley to your right to get there" Carlos answered.

Jill looked down an alley which was burning "You mean the alley that's on fire?".

"Maybe? Surely a tall drink of water like yourself can put out a few flames" Carlos said.

Jill scoffed a little "Fuck you".

She hung up but then heard a voice "Making new friends?".

Jill reacted purely on instinct and turned around to aim her weapon, only for her arm to be grabbed and her gun to be twisted out of her hands. Jill stumble back and was about to get ready to continue the fight. But stopped when she saw who it was.

"You... you're alive" She said.

Quiet sood in front of her with a smile "That monster was tougher than I expected. But it will need to try a lot harder if it wants to kill me".

Jill couldn't help but to smile in relief "Thank god for that. You might be the last friend I have left in the city right now".

"What about the man who saved you?" Quiet asked as she handed Jill her gun back.

Jill takes the gun with a sigh "Jury's still out out on that one. He hasn't done anything that makes him untrustworthy yet... but wouldn't be the first time I've believed I can trust someone, only to be betrayed".

"Do you trust me?" Quiet asked.

Jill looked at her "Yes... for a reason I don't understand, I do trust you".

Quiet smiled "Thank you Jill... that means a lot to me".

"You're welcome. Now care to help me put out the fire?" Jill asked.

Quiet smiled "Waste of time. I have a quicker idea".

Jill was about to ask what that idea was until Quiet suddenly picked her up "Hey! What are you doiiiiIIIING!".

Quiet rushed at inhuman speed and ran across a wall, over the fire and landed safely on the other side. She then put Jill down "See? Much quicker".

"What the fuck was that!? How did you do that!?" Jill demanded loudly.

"Care to say that a little louder? I think there is a zombie on the other side of the city that didn't hear you" Quiet said slightly annoyed. As her name would suggest, she prefers things more silent.

"Don't try to dodge me. No ordinary human could do that! Just what the hell are you?" Jill demanded.

Quiet sighed at that "Explaining it will take more time than we have. All I can tell you is that I used to be a lab rat for Umbrella. I only managed to escape by the time I met you at the Mansion".

"You were one of Umbrella's experiments?" Jill asked.

"Like I said, it's a long story. Can it wait until we are done with our current task?" Quiet asked.

"Fine, but once we are done, you and I will talk" Jill declared and with a nod from Quiet they continued on.

After entering a garage and arming herself with bolt cutters Jill hears a rustle coming from the next room "Is someone in here?".

"We should check it out" Quiet said.

Jill nods as she uses the bolt cutters to cut a chain on a door. They open the door and finds a wounded young man. He needed help, it was clear he could never make it out of here on his own.

"You're U.B.C.S.?" Jill asked as she ran up to him.

"Yeah. C-Careful, careful" The man said before he noticed Quiet looking at him closely "C'mon don't look at me like that, alright? I'm not an infected!".

"OK, let's take care-" Jill began but was interrupted when a grey haired man with a gun enters the garage.

"No no no wait! Please!" The Wounded man pleads but is shoot him in the head without hesitation.

"What the fuck!" Jill demanded while glaring at the older man.

"He was infected" The man said calmly.

"He might have been infected" Jill corrected.

"Are all S.T.A.R.S. this soft? No wonder so many of you are dead" The man said as he turns to leave.

"And what are you? U.B.C.S.? Killing your own people?" Jill demanded, causing the man to turn and glare at her.

"He would have turned. Where is your sense of self-preservation? Go back to the subway station. We don't need a bleeding heart like you getting in the way" He said before he looked at Quiet, and noticed the look in her eyes which made him smirk "Well, looks like one of you understands that. I can see the killer instinct in your eyes, lady. I hope you will use them".

The man leaves, and Jill walked up to Quiet "What the fuck was that? You really didn't have anything to say?!".

"What was I supposed to say? I'm not part of their squad, I don't call the shots" Quiet said.

"Then what did he mean about you having a killer instinct? Would you kill your own comrades if you believed they were infected?" Jill demanded, but Quiet didn't answer, and this shocked Jill "Wait... you would?".

"Would you?" Quiet asked.

Jill took a step back "You... you would kill a comrade if you believed they were infected".

"I don't have any comrades anymore. I only have one objective in mind now. To protect you, and make sure you make it out of this city alive. If I have to sacrifice someone else or even myself to accomplish this... then yes, I would make that sacrifice" Quiet said.

"And what the fuck makes me more important than everyone else?" Jill demanded.

Quiet was about to answer but shook her head "I don't owe you any explanation. Now, do you want to keep on wasting vital time, or shall we get going?".

Jill glared at her "Maybe I was wrong when I said I could trust you".

With that Jill continued on. Quiet closed her eyes and clenched her fists. Truth is, Jill was right. Quiet even did try to kill one of he comrades after finding out he was infected by a dangerous virus. Kill a few to save the rest, a hard but necessary sacrifice. Jill was still young, and while she has already experienced a lot, she was yet to face the most difficult decisions: Killing a former comrade.

"I'm sorry... my daughter..." Quiet whispered.

Meanwhile someone had arrived in the city and was on a mission. At first his mission was to infiltrate an Umbrella facility and gather proof of what they were up to. But that mission went down the toilet when the outbreak happened, so now his superior had given him a new mission and his orders were very clear: Find anyone who has been investigating Umbrella, and bring them to safety.

A man looked over the city that was in complete chaos. This was going to take a while, but he has completed impossible objectives before. With that he contacted his superiors and spoke in a strong and slightly raspy voice.

"This is Snake. Beginning mission now".

.

Yup! Solid Snake joins in.
