Burning Buildings And A Mother's Confession.

Everything seemed to be in order. Jill and Quiet had managed to restore power and laid out a good route for the train to take, and the monster was nowhere to be seen. If everything worked out the way it should, then they will be out of the city soon enough, along with plenty of survivors who will be able to tell everyone about what happened in the city. Having stashed everything useful to a few pockets, Jill and Quiet headed back to Carlos, who looked relieved to see them.

"Nice job, you two. I'm impressed" He said.

"We back in business?" Jill asked.

"Yeah, mostly. But we need 30 to 40 minutes to finish maintenance" Carlos answered before he aimed his weapon when he heard a gate open and the gray haired man Quiet and Jill met before and a black muscleman walked in "Nicholai! How we doin'?".

"The town's crawling with those freaks. No chance of fighting our way out of the city" Nicholai said before he noticed the two women "Why are they here?".

"They are helping get the trains running again" Carlos answered.

"Bad time to start carrying dead weight, friend" Nicholai said as he glares at Jill "She's unreliable. Can't pull the trigger when it counts".

Quiet grabbed him and pushed him away "If you know what's good for you, then you will stay away from her!".

"Hey, take it easy" Carlos said, trying to defuse the situation.

"She'll get you killed. As for you lady, I don't know why you are so protective of her. But I suggest you spend less time worrying about her, and focus on your own survival" Nicholai said before he leaves and the two women glared at him.

"Sorry about that. Everyone's a little worked up" Carlos said before a dreadful rumble can be heard from far away causing him to raise his weapon "Aw come on. Not again".

The monster was back, so Jill quickly pressed the gate's controls, causing it to start closing. Everyone moves to get behind it, hoping it would be enough to hold back the monster long enough for them to escape. But at the last moment Jill performs a deceptive maneuver and stays on the other side of the gate.

"It's me he's after. I'll buy you some time" She said.

"JILL!" Quiet screamed as she pulled at the gate.

"Hey wait! Wait, Jill! No! God dammit!" Carlos cursed.

"Don't do this Jill!" Quiet begged.

Jill only smiled at her before she bravely runs straight at the monster without fear of the difference in strength. She has experience and honed skills.

"Come on, you creepy-ass stalker! You want S.T.A.R.S.!? I'll give you S.T.A.R.S.!" She shouted as she made sure Nemesis followed her.

"NO! STAY AWAY FROM HER!" Quiet screamed in panik before grabbing Carlos "Get the damn gate open!".

"I can't! The controls are on the other side! But there is another way out, but it will take to long to travel that route, we will never reach them in time" Carlos said.

"I can! Tell me where it is, now!" Quiet demanded.

Carlos told her about another path and Quiet ran at speeds no normal human could possibly reach, much to the shock of Carlos. Despite her speed, the hallways were like a damn mace. And she knew her chances of finding Jill before Nemesis kills her was slim. But she would be damned before she let's her daughter die while she stood by and did nothing. She shook her head, Jill was a strong young woman with both training an experience, if anyone can survive against that monster it was her. After all... she is Quiet's daughter.

"Hang on sweetie, mommy is coming for you" Quiet said softly as she kept running.

While all that was going on, Jill was making her way through the sewers after having barely escaped Nemesis. She had heard Quiet's desperate screams, and it really made Jill believe there must be some relation between her and Quiet for her to be so worried about Jill's safety. Jill was not stupid, she was well aware that there was something very familiar about Quiet. But wasn't possible, if Quiet was who she believed she was, there is no way she would still look so young.

Jill sighed, all that thinking was hurting her head. She needed to find a way out of the sewers before she thought of anything else. She came across a door that had no power, so she needed to look for a special-made battery pack for it. She has to slip a little on the sloping surface of the sewer.

"Ohhh god. I'm definitely burning these clothes" She said in disgust.

Her clothes had become so gross she was almost tempted to just dump them and spend the rest of this nightmare naked. She almost laughed a little. In a nightmare like this, funny thoughts could work wonders, it sure helped keep her sanity in tact. Then again, streaking in a city overrun by zombies was hardly a sane thought, maybe she had already lost her mind without even realizing. She stopped when she heard gun fire and a roar. She hurried over there but kept herself hidden. She looked around a corner and saw a tadpole looking monster, which had been killed by a man wearing some black body armor you would see on special forces, along with a hood and a gass mask.

Jill did not like the look of that guy, so she decided to not reveal herself as the man tried to contact someone "Wolfpack, this is Vector, come in... Wolfpack are you there? Damn, the sewers are blocking communication, I better get top side. No way any survivors would last long down here".

Seems like Jill's instincts were correct. He was searching for people, but to what end? She suddenly had to move back in to cover as she noticed he was looking in her direction. He raised his rifle as he carefully made his way towards Jill's hiding spot. She cursed under her breath, she had no way of escaping without being seen. All she could do was stay quiet and hope he wouldn't spot her. Vector was getting dangerously close, his finger on the trigger, ready to shoot whatever he saw. Jill closed her eyes tightly for a moment before she suddenly heard that Vector's footsteps had stopped. She carefully peeked around the corner and noticed he wasn't there anymore. This confused her as she didn't hear him leave.

She carefully got out of her hiding spot but then she suddenly felt a rifle poke against her head "Don't take another step".

"Shit..." Jill said under her breath before raising her hands "Who are you? And why are you here?".

"Who I am is none of your concern at the moment. As for why I am here, well that depends on how well you answer my question. Who are you? And you better not try anything funny, or you will lose your head" Vector warned.

"I am Jill... Jill Valentine" Jill answered.

"Valentine. You are a member of S.T.A.R.S." Vector realized.

"And right now I really wished I wasn't. Umbrella's monster has been after me non stop lately" Jill said, she had to keep this conversation going for as long as she could. Hopefully she could figure out a way to escape without him shooting her.

"The Nemesis, my team was warned about him. Well I regret to inform you miss Valentine, but you have been a thorn in Umbrella's side for a while now, and my job is to silence anyone who could become a problem" Vector said.

Jill backed away a little "Wait! No! You don't have to do this!".

"Sorry, I got my orders" Vector said.

"Listen to me! Umbrella is just using you! When this is over, you will just be another lose end for them!" Jill said, she hoped this guy would see reason or she was dead for sure.

"You think I am stupid? I am well aware that Umbrella gets rid of anyone who becomes more trouble than they're worth. But as long as I am useful, they have no reason to get rid of me. Umbrella is not wasteful" Vector said.

"Are you fucking kidding me!? Everyone are expendable to them! You really think they will let you live after everything you've learned about them?" Jill asked.

"Enough of this. Rest in peace, Jill Valentine" Vector said as he was about to shoot. Jill closed her eyes as a shot rang out... but she didn't die, she slowly opened her eyes and noticed Vector had purposely missed her. He sighed as he lowered his weapon "Damn you are one annoying woman. You have filled my head with your garbage. But if there is even the slightest chance Umbrella will turn on me, I can't ignore it. Fine, I will check things myself. But make no mistake. If I ever see you again, I will kill you. Keep that in mind".

Vector walked away. Jill waited until he was gone before she leaned against a wall and put a hand on her chest while taking deep breaths, before covering her mouth to keep herself from throwing up. That was way to close. She was only alive because Vector saw enough reason. And she was extra lucky that he didn't force her to come with him. Jill finally finds a battery pack and after some walking around, she finally made it out of the sewers where she contacts Carlos.

"Carlos, can you hear me now?" She asked.

"Jill! Oh, thank god! Everything OK?" Carlos asked.

"Yeah, I'm alive. I lost him" Jill answered.

"Great. The subway's ready to go. We'll leave as soon as you make it back. But Jill, your friend is not here" Carlos said.

"What? Did something happen to Tixij?" Jill asked in concern.

"She was panicking when you turned yourself in to bait for that monster. She ran of to find you, and since she has no radio on her, we have no idea where she is or what she's doing" Carlos answered.

"Damn it! Why couldn't she just stay put? Alright, if I find her I will bring her back. Talk to you again soon" Jill said before putting the radio away. She was a little angry at Quiet for rushing away from the others like that. Did she really have that little confidence that Jill could handle this? Then again, Jill was reckless herself... another thing they had in common.

Jill goes up a ladder and then... Nemesis grabs her head. He pulls Jill out of the hatch and throws her on the asphalt, Before revealing his giant flamethrower. Jill has to move quickly to avoid being blasted by the flames.

"It can use weapons?" Jill asked out loud, just what kind of freak is he?

She hurries away from him and pulls down a gate, and then uses her foot to close it completely before the flames could hit her. But she wasn't out of the woods yet, Nemesis is still chasing her, setting fire to a building that is still under construction. Jill had to climb quickly, with Nemesis hot on her heels as she kept climbing higher and higher. On the roof, the terrifying monster finally managed to catch up with Jill. There's nowhere to run, and she knew there was only one way out of this.

"Alright, let's do this" Jill said as she aimed her gun at the monster "Maybe I can hit the fuel tank".

She shoots up a huge barrel of flammable fluid on Nemesis' back. It was not easy as she had to keep on avoiding his flame thrower. Taking advantage of every opening she got, Jill kept shooting the fuel tank until in finally blew up. Despite clearly being badly hurt by the explosion, Nemesis still got back up, and was now using his destroyed flamethrower as a club.

It's still kicking?" Jill couldn't believe what she was seeing. How could it still keep going after that? She aimed her gun ready to continue the fight.

"JILL!" Said woman looked and saw Quiet leap through the air and kicked the flaming Nemesis in the face. The kick left some burn marks on her boot, but it did manage to stagger Nemesis.

Jill was both surprised and relieved that Quiet was here, now they had a better chance against Nemesis "Hey! Catch!".

Quiet looked just in time to catch a grenade launcher thrown to her by Jill. Quiet looked at Nemesis who roars in rage as he charges at her and swings his flamethrower. Quiet leaps in to the air, avoiding the swing before siring a grenade right in to Nemesis' head. She lands behind him and fire another Grenade in to his back, making him stumble forward. Jill took the chance to unload her shotgun in to Nemesis chest, shooting him several times at point blank range. Unable to withstand all the punishment, Nemesis finally falls to his knees before collapsing on to the roof.

The flammable fluid spills all over the roof and causes a big fire. Jill and Quiet runs to the edge of the roof, but found no safe way down. Thinking fast, Quiet picks up Jill and jumps off a roof and falls on a cradle, one of whose cables breaks. Quiet holds on to Jill as they ended up falling, making sure to take the full brunt of the hard landing, before she quickly held on to Jill again and rolled to the side just in time to dodge the falling cradle.

Quiet lets go of Jill as she groan in pain, making Jill sit up to check on her "Are you ok? What were you thinking taking the full brunt of that fall!? You could've died!".

"I've survived worse..." Quiet said as she sat up... and moments later she broke down crying as she pulled Jill in to a strong hug "What the hell were you thinking!? Do you have any idea how worried I was? I thought I was going to find you laying dead in the streets, being eaten by those monsters! Why couldn't you just leave that monster to me and stay where it was safe!?".

"It... it was after me. I was trying to protect you all, I had no choice" Jill said, a little shocked that Quiet would start crying like this.

"You stupid, stupid, stupid girl! You are the only reason I've bothered to live this long! And I have no desire to outlive you. What kind of parent would I be if I failed to protect my only child..." Quiet said.

Jill got wide eyes, but soon tears began running down her face... seems like her feelings were true... She had a problem believing it before, but now there was no doubt about it... and she could only utter one word.

"Mom...".
