A. N. Oh, fun! Chapter One!
Ehem, right. Welcome back to my Harry is way too powerful story. In this chapter, Harry gets way to powerful, and not much else happens. After this chapter and the next, Harry's power growth is going slow WAY down in the basics, but may continue to grow via passive boost.
Also, some notes. The average witch or wizard will have a SPR of around 50, INT around 100, and a LVL around 25-30. Due to a sheltered life, magic to solve most of their problems, and a lack of basic education or logic, their WIS will be around 25, with PER being near 30. These last two are LOW. Average stats for an average joe are 50s. The wrestling team mentioned at the end of the chapter has physical stats in the 100s, and are split 50/50 with mental being 25, or 75. Dumbledore will have a SPR in the 500s to 1000s range, and an INT around 250-500, with his WIS near 125-250, though he will also have a boost from the phoenix, and some… other things. Just some basic reference notes for the future.
I also plan to get chap. 2 out soon, but it will cut out at the sorting.
ANY PERSON WHO CAN CORRECTLY GUESS HARRY'S HOUSE CAN SEND ME ONE IDEA FOR A GATCHA PRIZE. PM me or review. Guest reviews welcome, but I am afraid ya can't win the prize.
Also, Rec at the end of the chapter.
That's all I got for this time, folks.
Harry stared at the text in front of him. He had been expecting several things when he had come back, but this was NOT one of them. His life had been made into an ACTUAL video game. This could be… very good.
Ok, what did he know about games?
Nothing.
Well, shit.
At least he…
Had…
Something?
He could have…
Sworn…
Ga-ga goo.
Six and a half years, and one annoyed Harry, later:
Harry was called a genius; he was strong, and quick; He knew everything that could be taught up to mid-college level, and he was a savant in a dozen subjects, and he HATED it.
Lately, he had taken up fencing and boxing. Why would an eight-year-old do that, you ask? Well, for one, because his cousin was lazy, and Harry was only allowed to surpass him in things that Dudley didn't care about. Why? Because his 'family' was a few branches short of a tree, that's why! Every single member was a weak-willed, lazy, stupid, thin-skinned, INCOMPETENT BULLYING ASSHOLES!!! Not like Harry was bitter or anything.
Anyway, because the 'Freak' could only surpass 'Dudley-wudkins' if he cheated, and cheaters got beaten, if Harry operated at his potential, he got beaten. EXCEPT, as it turned out, in physical arenas that were 'non-sports'. So, fencing and boxing. As it turned out, he was a savant at fencing (again), and naturally talented (about three steps below savant) at boxing, which made NO SENSE! Harry, to this day, could not for the life of him figure out why he was a master at some things, and was incapable at others. For example, he could remember, at the age of three, at academically being at the level of an eleven-year-old. Why? HE HAD NO FUCKING IDEA WHY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! If he was a genius, that would be okay, but as he set to work on physics the first time (age four), he had had the feeling that he had the necessary knowledge to back up his skill, some talent for the work, and an intense feeling that he was answering questions he had long since forgotten, making his world make more sense; but he didn't know what the questions were, had NO idea where they came from, and he realized that he was only slightly smarted than average. SO WHY DID HE KNOW ALL OF THIS???
That, and the assholes who knew him, but wouldn't, or couldn't tell him why or how. Every few weeks to a couple of months, one would show up, "Thank you, Harry Potter, sir!" or "You'll pay for what you did, boy!!!"-ing away, then off they would pop. Sometimes literally. Like the one time one of the latter followed him home, entered the yard, and, well… POPPED! That had been traumatic. Of course, no-one but him noticed. Normally, though, they would just disappear with a pop. And would (hopefully) survive. Hopefully.
Anyway, Harry, having the savvy of a kid five times his age, and more than a little skill in tactics, politics, and the like, had to figure out how to live his life, with his life making no sense. One thing he was sure of, though, was that he wouldn't hold himself back for ANYONE. As such, he did the logical thing.
He blackmailed his teachers.
It had been really friggin' easy, sad to say. He had ten teachers, two secretaries, a vice principal, and a principal to deal with. The vice and his secretary could be ignored, because, if the teachers didn't talk, they wouldn't hear. Five teachers were either having affairs, or had goodies hidden away amongst their browser history. Three teachers had cheated their way into the jobs they had, and had neglected enough cases of bullying and abuse (Harry ignored the bullies, but brought the hammer of God, or in this case, the law, on the abusers) that they would keep quiet or lose their job. The principal had taken to dipping into the school's pockets to pay for his own things, but Harry used that as a stick, and some money on the side as a carrot, to keep him in line, as opposed to straight blackmail (after all, the man's wages were criminally low, and he did his best within his limits, despite some minor embezzlement), and his secretary could just be bought with a free vacation every year to somewhere exotic and the occasional concert tickets for the weekend. The second to last teacher ran music class, a class where Harry was average, but Harry had discovered his drinking problem anyway. It paid to be thorough, after all. The last one, however, had proven problematic.
It had been Harry's literature teacher, and she had been completely clean. She did her best by her students, aided with whatever needed done, never cheated or stole; in short, she was golden, and had been for the last forty years of her job! As such, Harry faced the first existential crisis of his young life: what should he do to the innocent, in order to get what he wanted?
It had been a long, hard battle with himself, but in the end, he made a decision. He wasn't happy with, but it had worked out, and he had gotten what he had wanted, so it was all good, right?
He still hated the fact that he had done it. Years later, he would look back on that day, they day he decided his morality, and cringe. After all, one mistake in judgement, one slip of his hand, and it would have all gone wrong. She ended up getting caught in the maelstrom that was his life, and, alas, she would have to be collateral damage.
She hated giving him wrong grades to him from that day, but understood completely once he explained why.
What, you though he would blackmail her? Maybe off her? Sickos! He was five at the time, for goodness sake!
Anyway, he had called a meeting with her with the principal's help, told her what he was doing to which of her co-workers and why, asked for her help, and left it up to her. After explaining why she shouldn't go to the police with evidence of his abuse and her co-workers… issues (every agent Harry had tried sending to turn the Dursleys in had ended up showing traces of amnesia and/or brain damage without head trauma, and had either forgotten the abuse, or Harry altogether. As for the teachers, if you had evidence of their… issues, you could control how they acted, and make them better teachers.), she had eventually agreed. Of course, the report card that his 'family' got, and the one he got that matched his official transcripts… well, let's just say that they disagreed. A lot. Like, on everything but his name and age. Not even his GRADE LEVEL stayed the same.
It had been worth it, and it had paid out. That was all that could be said on the subject. Still, at times like these, he was INFURIATED at how frequently he was treated like a kid! After all, he…
No, wait. He was a kid. Why did that bug him so much?
There was another thing that made no sense!!! Why on earth did he expect to be treated like an adult? He was EIGHT!!!
With nothing left to do, and no good reasons appearing out of thin air, Harry walked away with a pout.
Six months later
Seven years (to the day) after the beginning of the Great Redo
1:07 A.M.:
Harry woke up in the morning (in his cupboard, of course) to an annoying PING!
Well, actually he had ignored the first, like, eight PING!s but the NINTH FUCKING ONE at ONE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING finally roused him; though, when he did open his eyes, he was relatively sure he was still asleep.
Why? Because there, floating two-and-a-half feet from his face, was a blue, semi-translucent card with words on it.
[GOOD MORNING GAMER!!!
ABOUT BLOODY TIME YOU GOT UP!
I am a bit of you that, thanks to the powers-that-be that met you after your death, got turned into a videogame system inside your head.
You just HAD to ask for your life to be a game, didn't you?!?
Also, if you don't like me, tough!!!
I am a f*ing part of your head, jacka, if you don't like me, you don't like you!!!]

[Oh, bl*dy h*ll, you are CENSORING ME!!!! Forget me being a jacka, YOU'RE the jacka*!!!]
[…]
[Whatever.]
[Most of the time, I won't show up. This is the only time I am going to help you directly, 'cause neither of us really like helping people. I will show up from time to time to explain skills and abilities, but for the most part, you are just gonna have to suck it.
Due to some f*ery, you have already unlocked the wizard path, the rouge path perk, and the paladin path perk. These aren't your class; they are a part of you. They have also been maxed already. That doesn't mean that you can't learn how to use them better, just that you already have a good grasp on the basics, and you have ALL the basics. If you don't know what I am talking about, I WON'T EITHER, MORON, I AM A PART OF YOUR F* HEAD!]

[You already had a damage multiplier of X16 boost in power, range, and effect due to the unique circumstances surrounding you, so tack that on. To clarify, wandless magic is the magical equivalent of hand-to-hand combat for most, and melee weaponry for you. As such, wand magic would be daggers for others, but handguns for you; staff magic is swords or pole-arms for others, and mid-range guns for you for you; and grimoire magic is best compared to siege equipment for others, while for you it would range between an RPG, a sniper rifle, a .50-cal., or an ICBM, dependent on usage.]

Harry looked at the floating text in front of his face, blinked, clearly said "Mrrrmnmph?", and instantly fell back to sleep. A second later, another PING! was heard.
[Oh, for goodness sake!]
Same day
6:43 A.M.:
ThudThudThud!
"Boy? Wake up in there!!!"
Harry awoke with a groan. Last night's dream had been weird. There had been this floating box of text in front of him, and it had been cursing hi…
[SO, YOU ARE FINALLY AWAKE, HUH?!?
I have been waiting for the last FIVE HOURS to finish the intro!!!
RUDE!!!]
Harry blinked, then scratched the back of his head. Apparently, he was still dreaming. Odd. He never dreamed, and he didn't think dreams were supposed to be this… real.
[You aren't dreaming, jacka*!]
Also, this text was snarky. And trying to convince him that he wasn't sleeping. Very odd.

[…]
]
'Huh? That was ominous.'
PING!PING!PING!PING!PING!PING!PING!
Harry Potter knew pain. That awful sound, that sound was pure PAIN! There was NO WAY he dreamed something THAT horrifying! At least, not since Aunt Petunia had been 'happy to see' Uncle Vernon in a place where little eyes could see. THAT was hell! This was more… terrestrial agony.
[Still think you're sleeping? ]
'For God's sake, I'm awake, you piece of sh*t! Would you please shut up?!?'
'Also, did I just get censored?'
[HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It's not just me! You get censored, too! That is TOO FUNNY!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA!]
'It is official, the voice inside my head is a d*ck.'
'Sh*t.'
[AH-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! It's too much!!! Make it stop! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!]
'D*ck. Fine, so are you my conscience?'
[Oh, H*LL no! I wouldn't take that job for a million pounds. Nah, I am more of the interface between your conscious mind, your subconscious, and the Gamer module that is being used to give you powers. Unlike the REAL Gamer, your module is more of an automated system, than an actual consciousness. That is why I am here. You can think of it as a G.O.D.]
'A god?'
[G.O.D., or General Order Divinity, is an automated system that simulates the necessary divinity, or divinities, that govern a world, so that a human doesn't claim that position. Ya see, the multiverse is man-made, branching out from the home dimension (True Earth). True Earth was made by the true God, but man wanted to experiment, so he (they) made the multiverse to test various theories of how the world works. Naturally, this became a HUGE entertainment industry. HELL, Corp., the industry that makes sure that nothing immoral goes unpunished, developed a massive series of laws and regulations to make sure they did their job right; and rule number one, was 'NO APING DIVINITY!', due to the fact that man is not God, and God is far beyond man. Men forgetting this has caused more problems over history than pretty much anything else. Even you have heard of a 'god complex'. Bet you didn't realize that was literal in some cases, did ya?]
'Meh, they are people. If it is bad, several people are out there doing it right now. Kinda par for the course, really.'
[I hear that! Anywho, as often as HELL, corp. finds a man, normally of the bad sort, trying to create a world in which he can 'play god', they interfere, normally by capturing said person and sending him to a Hell-scape that is the same as the world he designed, but with him at the bottom of the heap, not the top, or something of that sort. If he has already gathered or developed humans to fill this world, they let the world build, but install a G.O.D. in the place of the man, tuning it down to be much weaker, and more benign. These are often killable, or are rapidly killed, in order to make it plain that they are NOT GOD!!! It is literally IMPOSSIBLE to kill God. And you are like "but Game, what about Jesus?" Good question. Jesus was only killable because he was God incarnate, or God in man's flesh, and men are squishy and killable. Even then, it was ONLY by his choice that he died.
And yes, some dimensions have different forms of God and Jesus in order to mock/honor the originals. The easy answer is, if it ain't perfect, it ain't him. Also, being in God's presence instantly kills the body of any mortal who was not brought before him by choice.
Ok, enough theology! Time to pick a class]
Please choose your class:
{Fighter}{Mage}{Rouge}{Support}
'Hmm, tough call. I am a Mage-type in general, but that would probably mean that I should go for something else, in order to smooth out my weaknesses. I am already good at sneaking, so Fighter would probably be a good choice, but I am concerned that the fighting path would…
…yup, I already bulked up a good deal overnight. That won't do. Perhaps Mage-class for an illusionist to keep myself from being noticed? Nah, I have baggy clothes, and illusionist is a poor choice for early game. I need something more immediately useful. If I walk hunched, use what I know of magic already to keep people from noticing too much, and don't show off, I should be good. Then, I can GRADUALLY let the spells go and straighten my posture as I go, making it look like I am just developing. Over the course of several months, of course.
Back to the illusionist question, however, I am already at max level in three different classes, one for each baring Support, and I already have a great deal of natural and trained skill in Fighting and Rogue-craft, and can gain rapidly in Mage-craft. As such, I can already eliminate Mage, Fighter, and Rouge for the time being as necessities. I also don't actually HAVE a Support class, even though my current Maxes have Support aspects. As such, I should choose a support class, one that doesn't focus on healing or buffing (as I have no-one to heal or buff), but something with more long-term aid. Due to my knowledge, magic and tech clash due to energy wavelength differences. That means, Support; probably mage; and something long-term. Let's see what we have.'
{Support Selected}
{Fighter Support} {Mage Support} {Rogue Support} {True Support} {Back}
{Mage type selected}
{Healer} {Abjurer} {Enthraller} {Alchemist} {Rune Mage} {Back}
'Healer is good, but I already have some healing, and, as I said earlier, I don't have anyone or anything to heal besides me, and I am ok as is so far. My repertoire of magic has several methods of controlling, banishing, and annihilating spirits for some odd reason, so I shouldn't need abjurer… yet. Enthraller is ok, I guess, but I don't care to consider the morality of it (not to mention knock-back when others find out), and I already have a Max Skill in that art, so I'll give that a pass. Alchemist should be useful, but I want something that is passive in combat, not active. That leaves Rune Mage. Potent gear, wards galore, and animated servants, here I come!!!'

'Well, that is interesting. Wonder what all those question marks are about? I guess gamer's mind is what is helping me keep my level, and the intelligence boost is due to the stats I gained last night. Alright, I have one week to gain as many stats as I can. Who knew that the slavish conditions the Dursleys put him through would actually HELP him one day? All in all, between back-breaking labor, cooking and cleaning, the occasional beating, and his 'normal' life, things had gone really well. Another interesting thing was that support classes didn't level up with you, they leveled up as you did them, and in order to 'Max it', you had to get each of the basic skills up to a certain level. Sadly, Harry couldn't find a way to practice smithing, so he just went with the rune work for the time being. He would have to figure it out soon, however, as he was soon going to reach the place where he couldn't move on without it. His final standing after tutorial week?

Proficiencies are required to learn health or status conditions, but anything you could figure out by studying said person, place or thing is instantly available, baring obfuscation charms, shape-shifting, or other forms of disguise. Ability to see through said trickery scales to proficiencies and/or PER stat.

Description, duration, and effects of the dungeon vary based on where the dungeon is created. !WARNING! Be care where you set this up. The worse the history or use of the spot, the higher chances of you dying. The dungeon type, area you set up in, and dumb luck will determine if others can see/enter these dungeons. Natural dungeons do occur.

Anything you look at, you can (as far as you can see them) truly understand them.

You are capable of avoiding recognition just by willing it from any detector lower than (Legendary).
[Diviner of Truth] (Legendary (Passive)):
As long as you are not befuddled by a skill (Legendary) or higher, and the targets level is within 50 of your own, you will always be able to tell if they are telling the truth or not.
[Iron Spirit] (Legendary (Passive)):
As long as a person's level is less than fifty above yours, and/or their SPR is less than 500 above yours, you will never be able to be magically cowed.

He etched drawn the safest runes he had (an unfortunate 39) into the wood over his head in the closet the first day, then powered and de-powered them ten times each night to get the hang of them, how they felt and what each one did. As he didn't need to sleep, he had put extra effort into training his unarmed combat at night, which freed him up to attend the library during his normal practice time, giving him the rune-reading and -writing skills he needed, as well as allowing him to begin scheme crafting. It was a work in progress.
That being said, WOW!!!! In one week, he had gone from a scrawny, barely-average guy, to outclassing guys outside his weight class. He had seen the ten-member high school wrestling team (national champions, too) during his days at school (thank you, free INT, CHA, and PER), and he now outclassed all of them.
At once.
It was a close thing, and they came out slightly ahead on VIT and STR, but he surpassed them handily in everything else. Surprisingly, INT and WIS were closer run than he expected, and, if half the team hadn't been dragging them down, he could have lost out there as well.
Didn't matter. He was as strong as ten men. Ten COMBATIVE men. At AGE ELEVEN!
Who's scrawny now, b*tch?
And, D*MN it he wasn't still being censored. D*mn game was chuckling in the background every bl*dy time he tried to curse. Stupid child-friendly mode!
[You should be glad for the tutorial rush. Besides stat crystals and free points, it is going to be MURDER getting your stats any higher. All in all, *snicker* you make a D*MN fine level one!]
[…]
[…]
[BWA-HA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! MORE THAN A GRAND IN A HALF DOZEN SKILLS, AND NEAR THAT IN THREE OTHERS?!? SOME LEVEL ONE!!!]
'D*mn straight! Now, what should we do next?'
]
[Oh, I might have a few fun ideas!]
'Do tell!'
[Well, what we do, is…]
A. N. And we are done! Hope ya'll like this. Also, if you are wondering about the HUGE stat gains, 1. That isn't really going to be a big part of this fic. Will he gain over time? Absolutely! Will he become a massively powerful wizard? Yup! Is that a big part of this story? No. This is more about application, than power.
2. Those stats, are just what I rolled. If I got a high enough number, I kept rolling, so, ya. He got some good rolls. After all, if you are stuck in a story, use the dice! They help a lot. I have a set of dice and a story-tellers deck on hand, and, between the two of them, I am never missing an idea. I might not know what to DO with the idea, but I will have one all the same.
Oh, and powering runes does cost, it is just a variable cost depending on what he is doing. Speaking of, just wait until you see the security system Harry's gonna make. It won't show up until fifth year, probably, but it is gonna be epic.
Heads up, the next chapter is after a two-year time-skip. Should include the letter, Diagon Alley, the train to Hogwarts, and the sorting, all except for Harry's house. Yes, this will be a cliffy. Yes, I am giving you heads up.
Finally, fic rec. This chapter's rec is going to be Core Threads by theaceoffire. Absolutely HILARIOUS super!Harry story. Sadly, it hasn't been worked on since the end of May 2017, but it is phenomenal! AU, obviously with a nutty Dumbledore, and it only goes up to the very beginning of the second year, but it is almost 380K words long, and it is AWESOME!!! After all, what isn't funny about watching an eleven-year old break all the rules of magic, accidentally?
And, that is it, for now. I guess I'll see ya'll next time.
