Wow! First chapter is written! I absolutely hate these opening chapters, it always feels really stiff trying to introduce everyone! But now that it's out of the way, I promise that it only goes up from here ;)
Thank you so much to everyone who applied, I enjoyed reading every single one of your apps, and a huge congratulations to everyone who was chosen! I hope that you all continue to read the story regardless of if you got in or not, as well as if your OC is sent home. Because as we all know, someone has to go home! Just don't get mad at me if it's you, because only one can win at the end of the day.
But that's enough of a message from me! I hope you all enjoy the story!
Wuwunukwu, one snowy alpine resort someone in northern Canada that is in no way shape and or form associated with the toxic waste dump of a campsite Wawanakwa also somewhere in Canada. We swear.
There in the snow, stood in front of a sprawling wood cabin (that I suppose would be more likely to be called a wood complex but it just doesn't have that same ring) were two men both dressed in large fur coats and with hats and gloves on. These two men if you didn't already guess were Chris McLean and Don (Last name unknown) the hosts of the newest season of Total Drama: Audacious Alpines, set here in the alpines, because we love inventive names.
"Welcome viewers! To this season of Total Drama!" Chris announced happily, lifting his arms up for that sweet sweet emphasis.
"We've invited just 14 contestants here to this beautiful alpine resort so they can battle it out to achieve superiority over their peers!" Don smiled, continuing seamlessly from his co-host.
"They'll fight tooth and nail for their shot at winning an entire million dollars! That's one million smackers and the chance to join our very own production team if they so wish! Isn't that just worth fighting for?" Chris exclaimed, his energy practically washing over the camera, he might not want to be here, but you know he's going to do a professional job while he is!
"I couldn't agree more!" Don grinned, adjusting his hat on his hat. "Stay tuned to meet the fourteen lucky lucky teens who are going to be joining us this winter!" Both men gave thumbs-ups to the camera.
"Coming up next on Total Drama: Audacious Alpines!" The two announced as the director yelled cut.
That same producer from the prologue walked over to the two, dressed in a similar outfit but without the hat, letting her blond ponytail blow slightly in the wind.
"You guys are doing really great." She smiles, looking between the two of them, "The chemistry is perfect, ratings are gonna be good."
"That's good Marnie." Chris sighed, a weight seemed to lift off of his shoulders immediately, "Good to know that I've still got it."
"Yeah you did great!" Don encouraged Chris, giving him a friendly rub on the shoulder. Chris gently pushed his hand away as Marnie answered a quick call on her phone.
"Yeah… Okay… we'll be prepped for arrival then. Give us ten." She spoke to whoever was on the other line before hanging up and turning back to the two hosts. "Lucky you! We're running it fast today, contestants are arriving in ten so I need you both to just get a little touch up and be back in five."
The two nodded dutifully and went their separate ways.
(A little while later)
Our favourites are back in their spot as Marnie watches from behind the camera, she gives the all clear and the cameras start rolling, causing both men to start their script for this segment.
"I think our contestants are arriving now!" Chris announced as an off-road vehicle pulled up beside them, the only vehicle that could actually traverse the rather snowy conditions. An unnamed and irrelevant producer opened the door and helped out a boy. He was rather on the short side, with apricot skin and green eyes, the right one of which was just slightly covered by his brunette hair, the fringe of which was swooping down.
He had already been outfitted into a similar outfit to Chris and Don, likely given to him by productions - his jacket was a nice light pink as opposed to the yellow ones worn by the hosts. The outfit included a sturdy pair of walking boots and thermal trousers, there was likely a thermal shirt underneath the coat too, just to keep him warm.
"Ashe! So glad that you could make it!" Don greeted the boy with a smile, reaching out to give him a handshake, which was nervously taken.
"Oh, uh yeah! Thanks for letting me on." The boy smiled nervously, looking more to the ground than the faces of the two hosts.
"You're welcome dude! Let's hope you can make it a good time!" Chris smiled, "Take a space just over there!" Chris directed the boy towards the cabin. Ashe nodded and walked to where he was told, keeping his head down all the while, clearly pretty nervous to be here.
The truck had already driven off during the conversation but another one quickly took its place. The door was opened and out stepped a girl, taller than Ashe with red hair, cut short in a little pixie cut. Her brown eyes were large and quickly examined her surroundings before she nodded. She was wearing the exact same attire as Ashe but with an icy blue jacket instead of pink.
"Iris! Thanks for coming out here." Don smiled, again holding out his gloved hands for a handshake, which the girl took much more confidently than Ashe before her.
"It would be pretty foolish of me not to, don't you think? A million dollars is a lot of money." She stated with a small laugh.
"Very true indeed." Don laughed with her, rubbing his hands together against the cold - Iris didn't actually seem all too bothered by it, she had chosen to forsake her gloves and keep her hands bare instead. "If you want to go stand with your new castmate over there, we've still got a fair few of you to get through." Don smiled as Iris nodded politely, going to stand over next to Ashe.
"I'm Iris." She held out her hand for him to shake, which again he did, but without making eye contact.
"Ashe." He said quietly, rubbing his arm after letting go off Iris' hand. The two stood in rather awkward silence as another truck quickly replaced the one that Iris had been in.
The boy who stepped out was taller than Iris by a couple of inches, his hair was shaved on the sides with the top being more of a voluminous shape. Dressed in the same pink jacket as Ashe, he stepped out of the car and gave everyone a small wave as he did. His face was bright with a large smile already forming on his lips.
"Miles! Welcome to the show." Chris smiled, he did not hold out his hand for a shake, so Don did that for him too, taking the boy's hand with a smile.
"Thank you for accepting me!" Miles answered with a grin, "I'm excited to see what kind of challenges we're going to have to face! Anything to test myself!"
"Oh you will be tested alright." Chris laughed, "This season is one of the craziest yet."
"All the better." Miles smirked as he walked over to the other two contestants. "Nice to meet you both." He started, both of them gave him looks, Ashe gave a small smile while Iris simply nodded to him.
"Make sure you don't hurt yourself." Iris warned him, "It would be terrible if you went out because you broke an arm or something."
"Oh it's okay, I don't think we have to worry about that." He smiled in response, turning to look at the next truck which pulled up.
In this one was another girl, she was about the same height as Iris and had long straight black hair that fell right down to the bottom of her back - her dark eyes quickly scanned the other three competitors standing to the side before she stepped up in front of the two hosts. Her outfit was as you could have guessed, the exact same as Iris' complete with blue jacket and all.
"Yves. Good to see you." Don smiled, also giving his hand to the girl who took it politely.
"Good to see you too." She greeted calmly, her voice having a very steady tone to it. "Are we close to starting? It's absolutely freezing."
"Well that is what happens when you sign up for a season with Alpine in the title." Chris noted with a smirk, "You're only number four so we've got a little while to go yet! Go and huddle with the others like little penguins to preserve heat or something." Yves just rolled her eyes slightly before walking over to the others.
"Miles." Miles very quickly introduced himself to Yves, still keeping his smile on his face,
"You heard my name." She stated rather bluntly, impatiently tapping her foot as she stood, waiting for the others to arrive.
"You know what! It's really fine, I will just do the talking for all four of us." Miles smiled, feeling proud of himself as the other three all seemed in various states of shyness or just plain stoicness.
Another truck pulled up now holding our fifth contestant. This one was another boy, wearing the signature pink jacket. He practically leaped out of the truck, his blue hair flowing behind him in a ponytail, tied together with a red scrunchie. He strikes a little pose, holding his hands in the air as he closes his blue eyes. After a few seconds he cracks one open to look at everyone else around him.
"So no applause? For my big entrance?" He asked with a slight bite, "Tough crowd I guess." He shrugged, sighing slightly as he did.
"I sure guess so Adrian." Chris shrugged as Don once again did his little handshake routine. "We can't all have the same energy as me." He grinned, striking his own pose, to which absolutely no one applauded also.
"Your energy is staggering." Adrian replied with a big smile, "Wonderful really!" His response got a small chuckle out of Don who was promptly hit in the arm by Chris.
"Yeah. Whatever. Go stand with the others." Chris sulked slightly, pouting his lips out as Adrian victoriously sauntered over to the others.
"Nice." Miles smiled, nodding approvingly at Adrian who glowed at the praise.
"Cheers man," Adrian began to smooth out his hair, "Do I look alright? This wind is not doing wonders for my hair." He laughed but you could see the slight worry in his eye.
"You look fine to me dude." Miles confirmed giving the new boy a thumbs up.
Another truck quickly pulled up, and out hopped another girl in a light blue jacket. Her dark skin contrasted beautifully with the white snow as she stepped out of the truck. Her hair was braided into tight cornrows , only further accentuating the beauty of her face. She was close to being the tallest contestant yet, around the same height as Miles. She daintily walked through the snow to the two hosts and nodded curtly to them both.
"Luciana!" Don greeted her warmly, once again offering his hand which she took lightly in her own, she smiled warmly at him as she did.
"Don, Chris." She nodded to them both, the serenity of her face never breaking, "I must say, this resort is rather breathtaking, not quite as good as the ones in Italia. But it will most certainly do."
"I'm glad that we could accommodate you." Don confirmed, speaking for everyone here.
"Oh don't worry about treating me differently, we are all human." She smiled, "I expect to be treated just like everyone else."
"Wouldn't have it any other way!" Chris cheered as Luciana walked over to her new cabinmates, she gave them all introductory waves as they introduced themselves one by one.
"Treated just like everyone else huh?" Yves asked the girl, studying her with a cool eye,
"Of course! I don't deserve special treatment just because of the luxuries I have been afforded in life." Luciana smiled, "As I said, we are all human, and we are all equal in the end."
"Yeah! I would beg to differ." A new British voice spoke. It came from a boy who was just getting out of the car, having heard the end of Luciana's comment. "Some people are just simply better than others and should be respected as such." He pushed his blonde hair out of his face to show his emerald green eyes and although the thick jackets tend to hide the body of the wearer, he definitely looked rather thin.
"That's a rather closed outlook on the world." Iris shot at him, her eyes narrowing as she stared him down.
"But am I wrong? No I truly don't think I am." He smiled, his smug attitude simply oozing out of his face and body. "It's fine, once you all let me win I'll just write you all cheques for a million dollars yourselves, not like it makes much difference to me."
"Then why did you even sign up?" Miles shot with a glare of his own.
"Why I didn't, I was entered into this competition by my loving parents." He shrugged, "Not that it matters because I will be taking the win either way."
"Yeah I don't think so…" Ashe muttered which elicited a giggle from Luciana, the only person close enough to hear him - he quickly turned bright red and turned away from her.
"So… this is Boris…" Don announced, trying his best to put a smile on his face, not even offering Boris his hand, a first for him.
"Don't wear it out." Boris smiled, taking his leave to walk over to the others, although they all gave him a rather wide berth - he either didn't notice or didn't mind because he didn't look put off by it at all.
"So Boris marks the halfway point of our cast!" Chris announced happily, "But we still have seven more to show you." As if on cue, the next truck pulled up and a girl stepped out, her wavy brown hair was held in a ponytail behind her - her green eyes hidden behind glasses.
"This setting really is rather idyllic is it not? The production really showed off when they selected this as the setting." She nodded happily, rubbing her hands together to keep warm, "Although I do worry about the rather frigid temperatures," She sighed
"Yvette, thank you for joining us." Don smiled, shaking her hand as he did.
"Although I find the whole popularity of the show to be rather ludicrous, getting through college is my primary concern, and I shall do what must be done to get there." She rattled off, Don simply nodded in response as Chris just looked rather bewildered,
"Uh huh." He nodded, pointing over to where the other seven teens were huddled, Yvette moved to join them.
"You'll get used to the temperature." Iris noted, still having her bare hands out.
"I believe that stands to be proven." Yvette answered curtly, "But I am always ready to be proven wrong."
Another truck has now pulled up, focusing there instead of the two girls. Out of it stepped the tallest person yet, he was easily half a foot above everyone else with messy black hair and hazel coloured eyes. His height meant that getting out of the truck was a little bit awkward. He adjusted the pink jacket, which was just long enough to be usable.
"Damien! Nice to join us." Don smiled, looking up to the boy as he shook his hand.
"Yeah, it should be good fun." The boy smiled, looking just slightly uncomfortable, maybe due to his much taller height or it might just be his personality. I'm sure we'll find out. He walked over to the others, smiling and standing beside them, although obviously sticking out like a sore thumb.
"I know him!" Adrian whispered, not all that quietly to Yves. whom he was standing next to, she simply raised an eyebrow in response, inviting him to carry on. "Yeah! He's been on like Broadway and stuff - a big shot singer."
"Oh… that's nice." Yves said with a shrug, Damien didn't look to either hear or care about what the others were saying and didn't make any indication that he had noticed himself being mentioned.
"Do you reckon he could get me auditions? I've been trying to make it for ages!" Adrian asked Yves again, not quite reading her frosty response.
"If you ask nicely he might." She shrugged again, unsure of how to answer that
"Cool, cool cool." He nodded along as another truck pulled up - this one carrying another girl. She steps out and flips her long black hair behind her, showing off her high cheekbones and blue eyes. She was around five foot six and had a neutral look on her face, like nothing was really affecting her.
"Amelia. Welcome to the show." Chris grinned as Don once again took the new person's hand.
"Thank you Chris." She smiled at the first host, "And to Don as well." The two men looked between each other and looked a little nervous, unsure if they could even ask their next question.
"So… canwehaveanautographprettyprettyplease." Don whispered incredibly quickly so that only Amelia would be able to hear so as not to embarrass himself. Of course the microphone picks up all and we get to hear him beg.
"Ask me later, and I might do it." She said with a shrug, before taking herself off to the others, our hosts look more than happy with that result as another truck pulls up.
"So how come you got those two all worked up?" Miles asked the new arrival with a grin and a wiggle of his eyebrow.
"Is that any of your business?" Amelia scoffed, turning away from the boy who just looked rather shocked at the firm dismissal.
In the next truck was yet another boy, he was just slightly taller than the likes of Luciana and Miles, but nowhere near the towering heights of Damien. His skin, or at least what was poking out of his jacket hood was slightly tanned, and his eyes were a dark brown hue. His hair seemed to be a similar colour if the stubble around his face was any kind of indication.
"Kahlin! Welcome dude." Don grinned again, shaking the man's hand and quickly snapping out of his starstruck stupor.
"Cheers dude, I was just in the truck thinking about how crazy it is, that we're all here, and only one of us is winning, and that's already been decided so it's not even like it's worth being here, unless we're that one person, and you won't know until you get voted off… So really, I could win, or I could be the first boot - it's already decided, I just won't know until it happens…" He seemed rather out of it, obliviously rambling on as his castmates and the hosts just sort of stare at him.
"Ya know?"
"Yeah totally my dude." Chris nodded, gesturing over to the now rather large group of teens building in the snow, they were definitely penguin huddling for warmth, with the exception of Boris, who after being removed from the group was standing on his own, shivering just a little bit, but too proud to ask to be let back in.
"This is all kinda wild don't ya think?" Kahlin asked the first person he managed to stand next to, which turned out to be Ashe.
"Um… yeah definitely." The boy stuttered, once again shocked that someone seemingly paid attention to him.
"And to think, if mercury hadn't shifted into my third house, I don't think I would have even applied - of course it's all destined anyway, but it's weird to think that just little things like that can have such a bearing on our everyday lives-" As far as we can tell, the boy continued to ramble as Ashe made noises of acknowledgment, too worried to pull away and risk upsetting the other boy as yet another truck pulled up - if you've been paying attention, you would know that this truck also contained a girl, and she was wearing an icy blue jacket with her standard black clothing to keep her warm.
The girl in question had black hair and bright blue eyes, the most interesting part of her however was not her face, but rather the red camera that she was holding up, seemingly filming this moment.
"Uh, we have our own cameras?" Chris told the girl with a raise of his brow.
"I know, but this is for my own memories." The girl rolled her eyes, "Your cameras won't catch the moments as I see them, and that's what I want to film."
"I mean… sure whatever Aleena." Chris sighed, "These kids are weird." He muttered which earned him an elbow in the ribs from Don, who was also in the process of shaking Aleena's hand.
"Ignore my co-host, he struggles with most forms of human interaction." Don laughed it off but clearly looked rather annoyed at the behaviour of his coworker.
"Don't worry about it." Aleena shrugged it off, walking away from the two and going to join the others.
"Dude what is your problem!" Don whispered to Chris who looked rather confused at Don's negative reaction.
"I don't have a problem, it's not my fault you're not able to fit Total Drama's brand - you should never have even been hired."
"Oh. Says you, you're washed up and literally a criminal."
Behind the camera Marnie could be seen talking into a walkie talkie.
"Make sure to keep that in post - it might create a nice little ratings jump." She smiled to herself as the penultimate truck pulled up. It was the last boy to arrive, kitted out in his pink jacket. He was pretty tall, only a couple of inches shorter than Damien, his dirty blond hair looked particularly styled, clearly there was a lot of effort put into it to achieve those effortless spikes in it. He flashed everyone a toothy smile, with pearly whites that could rival even Chris'.
"James Nicholas." Don greeted the man with a smile of his own and a handshake which the boy returned strongly. Chris looked to just be put off that someone had a better smile than him and didn't interact.
"Please, just call me Nick, it's so much easier." He said with a small smile, his charm absolutely oozing out of his body.
"We'll make sure to take a note of it." Don smiled, as I'm sure a producer was writing it down to make sure it was remembered.
"That's very kind of you." Nick smiled as he walked over to join the rest of his castmates. He took the time to introduce himself to every single person individually, going through the group, shaking the hands of the boys and kissing those of the girls. Unfortunately most of them aren't the ones to be charmed so easily, but Luciana did find it in her to give him a little giggle and a push, likely due to her more upper-class upbringing.
"Oh you sure know how to charm a lady off her feet don't you." Luciana smiled, playing into his game.
"Not as much as you know how to blow a poor man right away." Nick fought back, clearly enjoying the slight battle between them.
"It appears we have reached an impasse, and have no choice but to wait until a later date to continue." Luciana coolly shut off the conversation but not before giving Nick just a little wink. Nick smirked a little and proceeded to integrate himself into the bubble as the final truck arrived.
"And here we have the last contestant of the series! Who is it gonna be?" Chris asked no one in particular.
"What if it was Oprah!" Kahlin shouted from the back, clearly more just a case of in his head and out of his mouth instead of actually trying to make a joke - but he still got laughs from some of the people around him.
"Yeah sorry to disappoint bud! But you'll just have to deal with me!" The girl who stepped out of the truck was the tallest girl yet, standing just shy of Nick, around the six foot mark. Her black hair was just skimming her shoulders, her honey coloured eyes gave away her east asian heritage,
"Our final contestant! Welcome Alyssa!" Don offered his hand which the girl took firmly.
"Saving the best until last? You really didn't have to." She smirked as she let go of the host's hand.
"I mean, I think it was probably the luck of the draw, we really didn't plan this." Chris shrugged as Alyssa rolled her eyes at the man, obviously she isn't a fan.
"But now that you're here!" Don quickly began to move the subject on, "Let's get to what you've all been waiting for! The tour!" He strode through the snow and arrived at the front door of the cabin - Chris by his side and the new fourteen contestants following close behind.
As Don opened the door to the cabin, the first thing you would notice is probably the lovely warmth inside the cabin afforded by the large wood fire that bathed the lounge and the entrance hall. Probably dangerous considering the entire property was made from wood but we move on.
"Everyone come in, we don't want to let all of the heat out." Chris ushered the cast in as he shut the door behind them. "Of course we're calling this a cabin, but it's more like a wood castle, built specifically so we can run this season, but without the need for unnecessary trips out into the cold snow." He explained as the teens nodded along.
"You'll see here that we have this little lounge that you guys can use to chill between challenges, or you can use it to plot your biggest rival's downfall, it all works I guess." Don shrugs as he led the castmates down one of the many halls of this castle.
"Down here you'll find the dining room, where you will be able to eat three delicious meals a day - or I've been told they're delicious, I wouldn't know, I haven't tried them." Chris laughed as he took them into the dining hall.
It was rather basic to say the least, with just a few tables scattered around the rather empty room, it wasn't as cosy as the living room, but it would do for food.
"So… do we make our own food?" Iris asked with a raised brow, looking between the hosts, "You said we'll get to eat, but not that it would be given to us."
"You really think that we would make you cook for yourselves?" Chris asked with a frown, "Why we only got you the best in the business! Oh Chef!" On cue, a side door in the room burst open, slamming loudly, causing some of the more timid of our cast to jump in fright. When one looked to the door, they would see only an imposing silhouette, a large light illuminating them from behind. The figure stepped further into the room to reveal the one and only Chef Hatchet!
"That's right! I'm back!" He said with a thumbs up to the camera and a cheesy grin that just felt out of character. He did get a smattering of applause from the cast and Don though, probably more for politeness than anything else.
"Yes! Wonderful Chef!" Don clapped the loudest, giving him a big thumbs up which caused the bigger man to blush ever so slightly before he growled and returned through the door to whatever realm he came from. (It's just the kitchen.)
"Moving on!" Chris exclaimed, taking them back out of the dining room and down another corridor he stopped outside of a door that was rather close to the living room, but not close enough to hear. "This is going to be the most important room in the entire cabin! This is… the new bathroom confessional!"
"Why is it in a bathroom?" Damien asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because of tradition." Chris muttered,
"Surely that's really quite an unsanitary position to put us in?" Yvette questioned, "You could pick literally any of these countless rooms and you chose a bathroom?"
"I am most definitely not sitting in a bathroom to give you my thoughts on this game!" Boris cried, looking simply disgusted.
"Dudes, it's not a real bathroom, it just looks like one. The toilet isn't even connected to the plumbing and the taps don't run." Chris cried, "But that ruins the whole illusion! So thank you for ruining the confessional moment." He crossed his arms and pouted a little, as a small child often would.
"So um… if you all want to go in and say a few words one at a time? We soundproofed the room so you could let out as many frustrations as you need." Don smiled awkwardly at the teens as he walked away slightly, allowing the contestants to line up for the confessional.
CONFESSIONAL:
ASHE: It's kind of crazy that I've managed to even get on Total Drama (he chuckles slightly to himself, looking at the floor instead of the camera) I'm not even sure how I'm going to play the game… ah I'm already starting to get in my head! You've got this Ashe!
IRIS: I'm the oldest of five siblings, and I can keep them in line so a team shouldn't be all that different. (She laughs to herself) Of course, I also have a good reason to be here, the money will absolutely help my family - that's why I can't lose.
MILES: I'm going to have this game under my thumb before nightfall. (Miles has a little smirk on his face as he relaxes in the 'bathroom') People like people who are charming, and I'm more charming than anyone else here - and once people like me, well they'll just listen to me, because I'm their 'friend' but really, they're just tools for me to use to get to the end of the game. Watch this space.
YVES: I'm here to win, that much is final. I refuse to let myself be trampled on and run over by others, so if that means I have to grab my team by the horns and drag them through the challenges then so be it.
ADRIAN: I'm just here to get my face out there, don't get me wrong! I won't say no to the money! (he laughs slightly, quickly backtracking) But also if anyone wants to cast me for your shows then you can contact my manager at 0- (It cuts before he can reveal his phone number)
LUCIANA: I do hope that people don't think I'm just a pretty face, or that I don't deserve to be here just because I've already got money. (Her face hardens and her jaw sets) I'm just as strong of a competitor than anyone else here, maybe even more so. They won't know what's hit them.
BORIS: Well, it's just a given that I win right? As I've said, I'm simply just in an upper echelon to the others, and any hope that they have of taking the crown are delusions at best!
YVETTE: I must say, I'm finding this whole situation to be rather intriguing. We've all come in wearing colour-coded uniforms. Girls in the blue, and boys in the pink - a nice subversion of traditional gender roles that I didn't expect from such a base show. However, I must assume that it was not by pure coincidence that we are dressed the way we are - after all, why not just tell us that it will be cold where we are filming and pack accordingly? I suppose that only time will tell if my hypothesis proves to be true
DAMIEN: I think I got away without anyone noticing who I am, I'm more fortunate than Amelia in that regard that only really specific people know who I am. It's not that I'm ashamed of what I do, it's just that it's hard to come into a game like this when you don't have a fresh face, so that's all I want, a fresh face to work with. That might… help me a little.
AMELIA: That was quite embarrassing, wasn't it? God I really didn't expect to walk into this competition and basically be singled out immediately by the hosts. That's immediately made me a target… but maybe I can actually make it work? Everyone wants a famous friend after all - and I bet these guys have at least seen clips of me as Raquelle Sherry in Jam! I killed that show.
KAHLIN: It's just so crazy that we're actually here in this magical bathroom in some wood cabin in Canada. (Kahlin just chuckles slightly, once again up in his own thoughts) Do you reckon it's haunted? It'd be kinda cool if it was.
ALEENA: (She is still holding her own camera, looking through her own footage) I got some really nice establishing shots here, it's annoying that I was one of the last people in really because there were too many people to actually get the perfect shot… I might have to go out by myself another time to get it juuuuust right. But I have to go! Imagine if I missed something important because I was too busy talking in here. (And she rushes out to go film some more)
NICK: I'm just here for the money - I know that it's not going to be the prettiest game, but I know that I have to use everything I have in my arsenal to win. These people are no joke! I'm looking forward to the competition that we've got on our hands.
ALYSSA: This is so fucking awesome! I wasn't actually really expecting to get casted, but now that I'm here I'm gonna have so much fun! (She stiffens up slightly, looking at the camera) And I've gotta win that money, I know that I need it - and I'll work my ass off to get it!
(Somewhere else)
Don, now without Chris, led the contestants down another hall, of which there seemed to be countless ones in the cabin.
"This here is the bedrooms, girls sleep here through the left door, boys will sleep through the right." Don smiled, "I'll leave you guys to get settled in and then we'll meet in the living room for some more announcements." He smiled and walked away, leaving the contestants on their own in the house.
"So… I guess we should get settled in?" Luciana smiled, opening into the girls dorm.
"Indeed we should." Adrian agreed, opening his own door and walking in, the other boys followed him, and the girls following Luciana.
(Boys' Room)
The room was… it was pretty basic. Seven single beds were placed side by side, four on one side, and three on the other. The entire room was coloured in the same light pink that they wore on their jackets. The bed sheets, the rug on the floor and the curtains were all coloured in this way.
"It's definitely on theme." Miles chuckled, speaking to no one in particular, "And we won't have to fight over who gets top and bottom bunks this time."
"Yeah that'll be good." Ashe nodded.
"So when do I get my own room?" Boris asked the air, hoping to have some sort of answer.
"You won't." Nick rolled his eyes, "We all have to share."
"That's ridiculous! How am I supposed to share with all of you?!" The rich boy wailed back,
"I don't know man, but I suggest you learn soon." Nick sighed as he set his stuff up on a bed.
The boys all got themselves settled into their respective beds - even Boris begrudgingly set himself up on the bed closest to the window.
"Because I deserve the most sunlight." He smirked, no one else had the energy to fight him on it anyway.
"So… what do you think the first challenge will be?" Kahlin asked, lying on his bed and staring at the ceiling, "Maybe there's some dingy cave we could explore."
"I'm going to have to pass on that one." Damien said with a little shake of his head, "I'm not really the right height to go exploring through caves." He got a little laugh out of a couple of the others as Kahlin nodded his head thoughtfully.
"Hmmm, I guess that would be kind of hard for you…" He conceded.
"Who knows really, Total Drama has never hosted a winter season before." Adrian noted thoughtfully, "It's new territory for everyone."
"We'll just have to wait and see." Miles chuckled, getting up to leave the room. "See you all in the living room." He smiled to them as he left.
(Girls' Room)
The girls room, as expected, was the exact same as the boys room, only their decor was the same shade of icy blue as their own jackets.
"Very homey." Amelia noted, looking at the wooden walls.
"It's nice and warm too." Iris smiled, taking her jacket off, folding it neatly and placing it on a bed, which she likely has now claimed as hers.
"I thought it was weird that they gave us outfits." Alyssa laughed.
"They probably assumed people wouldn't pack appropriately, and didn't want to catch a lawsuit." Yvette shrugged
"Aha…" Alyssa made a small and awkward noise, "Yeah probably." She rubbed the back of hre neck as she walked over to the bed by the window and sat down on it too.
"Just so you all know, I'm gonna be taking film, watch where you're walking so you don't ruin the shot." Aleena noted everyone, not maliciously, but she was definitely serious about it.
"As long as you're not blocking where we need to walk then that's fine." Yves nodded, stretching her back slightly.
"I reckon we'll find out our teams after this." Iris smiled, looking rather happy, "I don't want to go against any of you though." She sighed, looking between the other girls.
"You better not go easy on me if we are against each other." Luciana warned her with a stern look before she started laughing, "But seriously, I'm here to fight the best, and I expect you all to be at your best."
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Iris nodded, "I'm here to win too."
"Good." Luciana nodded suddenly as there was a knock on the door.
"It's time to go." Miles' voice shot through the door and the girls sprung up and walked out.
(The Living Room)
Don and a newly returned Chris were standing in front of the fire, with the contestants spread out around them.
"Welcome back everyone." Chris smiled, "I hope the rooms are to your liking, although you're a bit stuck if they're not."
"I'm sure you're all itching to know your teams, they're an integral part of the show after all. And to find them, you just have to do one little thing." The contestants' ears perked up at this, it was the time everyone had been waiting for.
"The first question is, If you wore a pink jacket, stand on the left, and if you wore a blue jacket stand on the right." Chris informed the teens. They proceeded to do as they were told, and of course if you have been paying attention to the story, you would know that the girls were on the right, and the boys on the left.
"Well done. Second Question." Don smiled, "Do you like your new teams?"
Everyone looked slightly confused for a second before it all clicked.
"Ah! I knew there was a reason we were so clearly divided!" Yvette nodded triumphantly, "I think our current arrangement will do just fine."
"Yeah we're gonna fuck shit up!" Alyssa exclaimed.
"I'd like to see you try." Nick replied offhandedly, giving the girls his cool smirk.
"Yeah, we've totally got this!" Miles exclaimed joyfully, pumping his fist in celebration.
"You guys are as perceptive as we could have hoped." Don chuckled, "That's right, we're going with a good old fashioned gender split! Ladies, you are henceforth known as the Freezing Felines!"
An image of a cat, coloured in the teams icy blue, with icicles hanging from it's ears and whiskers appeared on the screen, it looked adequately cold.
"And my boys." Chris started, "You guys are going to be known as Snowy Snakes!" An image in the boys light pink colour appeared, this one depicted a snake with a large pile of snow on its head, and its tongue sticking out.
"Haha, that's good, because we're in the snow." Kahlin muttered to himself, nodding happily.
"You're probably all itching to get your first challenge right?" Don smiled, "If you'd like to follow us outside." He once again walked outside, "Seen as this is the first time you'll all be working together as a team, we felt that you should all have a little time to get to know each other - which you can do - while you explore this wonderful and well placed cave." Don pointed to a cave about fifty metres up the hill, formed by some sort of phenomenon that we don't know.
"All right!" Kahlin exclaimed, "I knew that we were going to do caves!"
"Great…" Damien rolled his eyes.
"And it's not going to be that simple of course." Chris smirked, "It's not a team exercise if you're not completing it as a team, so you'll all be tied together while you do it!" Chris held up a long spool of rope to show both the audience and the contestants. "You'll all be tied together in a line, so the person at the front has to have confidence because they're going to have to lead the entire team, but make sure the people behind aren't lagging either."
"There's a second entrance to the same cave system on the other side. You'll enter on different sides, and the first team to claim the prize in the centre, wins the challenge, the losers will be spending time with us, where someone will be voted off." Don finished
"Girls you're here, Boys, we'll take you to the other side and get you all set up." Chris said as he started to march through the snow, with the boys following behind him. The girls stayed with Don as he walked them up the mountain.
"Oh this is going to be interesting." Aleena sighed, "Good thing I got a night-vision mode on my camera!" She grinned, adjusting the setting as she walked.
"Don't lose focus." Yves warned her, keeping her eyes dead ahead.
"Yeah yeah. Don't worry about me." Aleena dismissed as she let the camera hang around her neck again.
CONFESSIONAL
ASHE: I'm a little bit worried about going into the caves you know… what if we take a wrong turn and end up trapped there forever! I don't really fancy dying in a cave…
YVETTE: An intriguing first challenge, of course it would be foolish of us to lose immunity so early, instead of keeping our team strong, so we will simply not lose.
MILES: Although I would absolutely relish the opportunity to send someone home first, I think it's in my best interests to keep the guys strong, and just make sure that I'm at the top of their pecking order when we take over the game.
LUCIANA: A cave?! Let's go! I haven't been able to go in one of those for so many years! There better be some actual climbing! I'm not here for that awful man made trail crap
(In front of the cabin)
Chris and Don are now once again stood in front of the cabin, this time by themselves. They smile at the camera before rocketing into their usual spiel.
"So we've got our fourteen contestants and we've just sent them into the Wuwunukwu caves for their first challenge!" Chris exclaimed excitedly,
"It's sure to be jam packed with drama, danger and high stakes racing!" Don added, "And of course, we've still got an entire season of that to look forward to!"
"Indeed we do! There's going to be drama! Romance! Love and friendship! And even a couple rivalries. How is that all going to pan out? You'll only find of if you keep watching Total-"
"Drama-"
"Audacious Alpines!" The two finished the speech together as the camera cut off, and the episode ends. For now.
And there we have it! The first chapter of Total Drama: Audacious Alpines! I hope you all enjoyed it, and if you did make sure to leave me a review with which characters caught your eye, who you think is going to be the first casualty of the show next chapter, and maybe even who you think could get paired up? Speculation is really interesting for me! And nothing is set in stone, so if you have some ideas you think would work really well, maybe I'll use them for the story? Who knows!
