1 week later
I walk out of the house with my Nintendo switch in my hands. I walked over to the tree in my yard and slid down the tree as I sat down. Practice at the theater was canceled after the instructor caught the flu. Lucky me.
"Ahhhh" I sighed "Nothing like spending a nice sunny day playing some Doom 64 in the front yard."
I look at the imp that was about to get a stomach full of lead. Suddenly…
"Pool day! Pool day! Pool day! Pool day!" I heard a wave of voices say
I look up and see all the Loud children walk out the front door in pool wear. I look at them with pool noodles and floaties and swimsuits.
I look back at my game and I realize that I was too distracted to notice that the imp obliterated me.
I sighed and said, "Well might as well start ove-"
"Oh, hey dude." I heard Luna say
I look up and see Luna in a 2 piece swimsuit with 2 noodles in hand.
"Oh hey, Luna." I said, "I see you are going to the pool."
"Yeah!" Lynn said, "I'm going to annihilate Lincoln at chicken pool fight!"
Lynn punched Lincoln in the shoulder.
"Owww!" Lincoln yelled as he rubbed his shoulder
"What are you doing?" Lola asked
"I'm just vibing while playing Doom 64," I said
"Ugh, it's literally a sunny day and 93 degrees outside," Lori said
"Yeah?" I replied, "And?"
"OOH OOH!" Leni said while waving the noodle wildly "You should come with us!"
"Yeah, Emmet," Luan said, "You've been working so hard on playing Gaston in the play, you need a pool to cool."
"Wellllllll" I started "I don't know if I could with my skin condition."
"Well from concluding from the color and texture from the observation of your skin, it should be fine," Lisa stated
My eyes squinted at Lisa as I turned off my switch.
"Oh come on," Lana said, "It will be fun! I like to eat the gum under the tables."
My eyes grew worried "I don't think that's healthy but ok. But I don't think that my parents would like that."
Suddenly the door opened up "Hey sweety, I got you a nice new swimsuit."
My mom held up a pair of camo swim shorts with a US ARMY logo on the right leg. I held my switch in a tight grip that my mom foiled my plans of playing my game.
I groaned as I walked into the house and closed the door. I looked out the window and saw the girls and Lincoln talk out.
"So are we going to take him with us?" Lori asked
"Yes!" Luan blurted out
"I think I know why." Lynn began "Luan and Emmet sitting in a tree."
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G" The rest chimed in
I look at my mom and squint at her. I grab the swimsuit and go to the room. I slipped into the swimsuit and grab my super soaker from the corner of the room.
"Another day," I said, "Another day closer to enlistment."
I walk down to the front door and open it to see them still chanting that song and Luan blushing. I raised my rifle and squeezed the trigger.
"K-I-S-S-I Aghhghgh" Lynn said until she felt a cold stream of water on the back of her head "What the heck!"
"Are we going or what," I said as I slipped my rifle on my shoulder with my towel
"Ughhhhhh," Lynn said in her one piece
"Come on, we literally need to leave," Lori said
I began to walk in the middle of the sidewalk as I look straight ahead. I kept on walking until.
"So, Emmet," Luan began "Why do you carry the US ARMY… everything."
'Fuck' I thought
I began "Well I am planning on enlisting in the army when I grew up like my uncle and the military school I went to before really made it seemed not as harsh."
"The army!?" Leni began "Don't you know how many people die there."
"Yes," Lucy said, "It's nice talking to the dead warriors of the second world war."
"Well… why do you literally want to do it if you know it's deadly?" Lori asked
"Well.." I said while walking "I feel like sharpshooting is my expertise and I can't do anything else."
"Oh…" Luan said
There was a silence until Leni broke the silence.
"So what's your favorite show," Leni asked
"Band of Brothers," I replied
"Cool," Lynn said
"What's yours," I said
"The love boat." They all said at once
"Oh…" I said, "What's that?"
Suddenly they stopped "You DON'T know what the Love Boat is?!"
"Nope," I replied
"OM GOSH," Leni said, "It's about this girl that is on a ship with like 6 guys and over the span of like 2 weeks she would choose one guy to be love for life."
All the girls sighed dreamily as Lincoln just looked at me.
I looked at them all and said "I don't judge on TV shows but that sounds stupid."
Everyone snapped their head at me and glare at me.
"WHAT!?" Lori exclaimed
"It's how you find your soulmate!" Lynn said
"How is that stupid!" Lola yelled
"It's just another speed dating show," I said while I began walking again, "Their relationship is most likely going to sink."
"Hahaha" Luan laughed, "But seriously, how would you feel like if you never found love."
"I could not give f-," I paused and looked at the kids "crap…"
"What?" Leni said sadly "I thought all boys are looking for love."
"Well to be honest I don't even try," I said, "I could not care if I'm alone, I don't have the patience."
I see Luan's face grew a frown.
'"W-well what about the kiss we had," She said blushing
All the siblings looked at me with eyes of anticipation
I sighed and said "Luan, I don't mean any bad by saying this but that was just an interaction that we had… Trust me your a good girl and lucky for a boy to find you as his boyfriend… But… I'm not the type of guy to give affection, my purpose in life is to fight in combat… And if we were in a relationship it would most likely fail due to the fact that 99.99% of high school relationships fail."
"Oh…" Luan frowned
"Oh look we're at the pool," I said as I entered the pool area
I walk in while the Loud siblings stay back for a second.
"Wow…" Lucy said
"Luan…" Luna said "Are you ok?"
Luan rubbed her nose and sniffled before saying "Y-yeah… Let's just go to the pool…"
10 minutes later
I lay on the pool lounge with a WW2 graphic novel in my hands while the loud kids swam in the pool. I look up from the book to see the loud children in the pool playing with the noodles and having a water fight. I look at Lori on the phone taking pictures of her on the floaty and sending them to whoever the fuck it is. Leni was carrying Luna and trying to win the water fight against Lynn on Lincoln's shoulders. Lucy was floating limply in the pool like a dead body while Lola and Lana are about to cannonball next to her. Lisa emerged from the water with a vile of the pool water and Lily was on a little pool float next to Lori. There was one person missing but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"HEY!" Lynn said "Come in the water! It's great!"
"Nah." I waved her off "I don't necessarily like to get wet."
I sighed and I got up from my seat and walked over to the pool and look at the wet people inside.
"Hey," I said, "does anyone know where Luan i-"
Suddenly I felt a mass push me and I began to fall forward. I look back and see Luan giggling as I fall forward and into the pool. I feel the water surround me as I begin to silently beg God to end me. I emerge from the water and see Luan still laughing. I grumble as I sling my water rifle off my shoulder and took aim. Luan opened her eyes and realized she was getting a face full of water. I squeezed the trigger and a stream of high-pressure water clobbers her right in the chest. She yelped as she covered the top of her 2 piece swimsuit and pauses while she looks at me. I squeezed the trigger again and this time I got her in the shoulder blade.
"Ahhhhh," Luan yelped "Stop."
A smirk grew on my face and I squeezed the trigger again but then she ran up and was about to jump in.
"Oh fuck." I muttered to myself as I scrambled to get out of the way
I swam a good 3 feet away and narrowly miss Luan jumping into the pool. I turn and point my weapon at her but she didn't emerge. I waited for what seemed like a minute until I felt a pair of arms wrap around my chest.
"Gotcha" Luan whispered in my ear
Suddenly I feel myself begging tugged underwater. I open my eyes and see Luan pulling me down to the bottom of the pool and her arms wrapped around me tighter. I let her have her fun so I just put my feet on the ground and just stand up. I manage to catch my breath while Luan still clung to my back.
"Luan you can let go," I said "You pulling me underwater won't work, I'm half a foot taller than you."
"Dang it," Luan said as she let go
I grabbed my super soaker and sling it onto my shoulder as I head to the stairs of the pool.
"Awwwww," Luan whimpered "Come on, we were having fun."
I stopped and paused. I did have to admit that was kinda fun. I sighed and lay my rifle on the curb of the pool.
"OOh OOH," Lana began "Can I play with your water gun. Please, please, please."
I thought for a moment until I grabbed it and chucked it at her "Knock yourself out kid."
"Awesome," Lan said as she caught the rifle as big as her
Luan looked back over to where I was "Ok Emmet let's go- wait… Where'd you go?"
I jumped out of the water behind her and splashed her with a tsunami of water. She covered her face from the incoming water and It clobbered him everywhere.
"UGHH" Lori grouched as she put her phone in a waterproof bag "Watch where your spraying!"
I look her dead in the eye and dived underwater. I swam under her floaty and I heard her squeak when I grabbed the floaty and with all my might, threw it over. I looked to my left and I saw her fall into the water and with a shocked face the floaty fall on top of her. She looked at me and she grew angry eyes. I stuck my tongue out as I teased her. Suddenly I saw her begin to swim at me at a terrifying pace.
"IM LITERALLY GOING TO TURN YOU INTO A HUMAN PRETZEL" Lori shouted angrily
"Munch me, you big baby," I said back as I swam away
2 hours later
"Well, that was more fun than I expected," I said as I neared my house
"Yeah!" Lynn said, "It was so funny when Lori was chasing you and lost her top on the slide."
Everyone laughed while Lori blushed in embarrassment.
"S-shut up Lynn," Lori said
"It was so funny when Lana shot Lola with the water gun and she fell backward into the water," I said
Everyone burst out laughing, even Lola.
"Yeah, me and Lynn won against you two, 6-2," Lincoln said pointing at Leni and Luna
I calmed down while giggling and was about to leave for my house. I walked down the walkway and to the front door with my towel in hand.
"Well, I thank you guys for the fun day." I said, "If you need anything you guys can just come over."
"Ok thanks," Lincoln said, "I have a new video game, and Clyde can't make it tomorrow, can you?"
"Sure," I said, " See you guys later."
There was a wave of goodbyes when they were about to leave.
"Wait!" I said "Luan, can I talk to you privately."
Everyone looked at her and she looked at me. The siblings shoved her to the front and she walked over to me while the rest of them walked home.
"Y-yeah?" Luan structured
"Well," I began "I'm sorry I made your feelings hurt on the walk to the pool."
"Yeahhhh," Luan smiled
"So I was wondering if," I said
"Yesssss," Luan smiled even harder
"You would like to go to come with Lincoln to my house, you know… to hang out," I said
"Yes!" Luan spurted out "I mean yeah whatever, I'm cool with that."
"Cool, I'll see you tomorrow," I said
I walked into my house and into my room. I felt happy with myself when I went to the pool. I slipped out of my trunks and stepped into the shower. The shower warmed and I stepped in.
"Another day," I said, "Another day closer to enlistment."
