Naruto groined as Nobuo Manor came into view, it represented a clear sign he was soon to be in an annoying situation. They had been given the dreaded marching orders last night from Lord Hokage via snake summons; honor the customs and don't embarrass The Land Of Fire. Angrily the blonde boy thought. 'Just wait till I get home. If the old man thought I was an unholy terror before then he hasn't seen anything yet; BELIEVE IT!'
It had taken all morning to make the trip. Leaving at six it was decided to forgo the oxen pulled carriage to save time. Both Zuni and Takamoto had protested the decision, trying to politely explain a woman of Mayako's age shouldn't be making such a long trip on foot. Luckily for the two servants the woman hadn't taken offense to the suggestion her age would slow her down, but appreciated the honesty worry over her wellbeing. As of now the elderly redhead was walking between teams Six and Eight with the one Samurai who had delivered the message taking a comfortable lead; the Shinobi made him nervous.
Studying the manor Naruto had to admit the place looked cool. They were coming in on a downward slop and could see the front yard perfectly, which was probably why the spot was chosen; sacrificing defense for a view to shock and awe visitors. Large solid white stone walls surrounded a massive five story house with a red tiled roof. The front lawn garden was a swirling pattern made from various colored flowers. Two fountains in the form of bears standing tall on back legs spewed water from their snarling mouths. Samurai lined the top of the walls, each one wearing traditional armor with metallic bear masks covering their faces.
Turning to the old woman walking next to him the boy asked. "What's with all the guards in stupid masks?"
Mayako turned to her young clansman and explained. "The Samurai in masks are the elite of Takehiko's soldiers; that would be the Daimyo's second born son and Lord Samurai Commander. With Shinobi visiting my idiot nephew and his children must be putting on a show of force. Pay them no mind Naruto, their just pretty decorations and nothing more."
Walking up to the front both gates opened towards the inside automatically. Looking around curiously Naruto saw it wasn't Fuinjutsu this time but servants using a pulley system hidden off to the side. Looking back up the path towards the house, the blonde saw an old guy standing out front dressed up in a light blue kimono. He looked around forty with graying dark blue hair combed to the right.
As they approached the man bowed to the elderly redhead. "Lady Mayako, welcome. I'm sorry but you weren't expected until later so nothing is ready. Though if you wish your nephew is having tea in the back garden. I'm sure Lord Daimyo wouldn't mind the company."
Grumbling the old lady muttered. "I suppose getting introductions out of the way would be best." Turning to the Shinobi she said more clearly. "Why don't I just take Team Eight. No offense meant but I'm sure that old bastard is only interested in meeting Naruto."
"Yeah, that's fine." Anko shrugged. She then turn to the greying bluenette and asked. "Anywhere my team and I can clean up a little?"
"Yes ma'am." The greeter said happily. "Sorry, where are my manners, I'm the Head Coordinator here at the manor; Jenshi. If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask me or one of my staff. I'll have one of the servants lead you to a private guest room were I'm sure you'll find everything needed."
Saying goodbye to the Snake Mistress and her team, Mayako began making her way through the manor with Team Eight fallowing. Looking around at the house Naruto curiously wondered why there were so many maids. All seemed to be working in a frenzy getting the place spotless. The boy noticed that each one of the ladies were very young and could pass for models. Shrugging the Genin figured it was just more showy crap meant to impress.
Walking out the back door the group was greeted to a sight of more grand landscaping; a smooth stone path set between walls of tall green bushes neatly trimmed. At the end of the path was a large circular stone area with a cheery red oak gazebo. A decrepit old man in a cream colored kimono sat on a comfortable looking leather chair drinking tea, he appearing to be observing some ducks on a pond in the distance. Four stone faced Samurai stood stockily at each corner keeping guard. No table was present so the bald guy had two twin servants holding trays for the kettle and saucer that he used. One of the black haired beauties saw the visitors approaching and bent down to whisper in the Daimyo's ear. The old coot waved her off and continued to calmly wait.
Mayako walked around front while Kurenai signaled her students to hang back a moment; the polite thing to do was wait for their client's introduction. The elderly Uzumaki looked down at the Daimyo with contempt. "Nephew."
Yukio finished his tea and placed the cup on the saucer. Standing up he happily took the old woman's hands in his own. "Auntie Mayako, I'm so happy you could come!"
"I'm sure, you always love when I visit." The redhead responded sarcastically. "What, once every decade I think?"
"Oh, hehehe." Yukio chuckled awkwardly. Trying to recover the man turned to Team Eight and asked. "Ah, why don't you introduce your guests; Auntie?"
"Very well, even though I'm sure the Samurai at Lightning Way already told you who they are, this is Team Eight of Hidden Leaf. Left to right is Kurenai Yuri, Sakura Haruno, Naruto Uzumaki, and Hinata Hyuga." Turning to the Leaf Shinobi Mayako finished introductions. "Everyone, this is my 'darling' little nephew; the 'honorable' Lord Daimyo of The Land Of Bears, Yukio Nobuo."
Once more giving a nervous chuckle at his aunt's disrespectful tone, the old pervert smiled happily and walked up to Kurenai; hand extended. Reluctantly the Jounin locked hands with the man as he stated. "Please everyone, you may call me Yukio; all my friends do."
Naruto gave the man a deadpan look and asked in a deliberate cold tone. "Lord Daimyo, do you need me to fined you a table?"
Kurenai resisted the urge to slap the back of her student's head. Yes, the man was deliberately using his position of power to treat his maids as objects, possibly because it gave him a cheap perverted thrill, but calling him out on it was overly offensive; he was a ruling Daimyo in his own house after all. No doubt the ladies he employed all felt sickened by his presence but it was their choice to remain in his employ or not. How the man treated those he paid was no business of Leaf Shinobi; unless one of the maids paid for an assassination mission and the Hokage approved it. Ah, what a wonderful fantasy.
As the raven haired woman became lost in her happy thoughts of killing the Daimyo slowly, Mayako was secretly wanting to laugh her ass off. The way Naruto told the fool off was perfect. The redhead also noticed her nephew never once gandered at the Kunoichi either; which was something else she found humorous. The reason behind this was the fool once tried to hit on a visiting Cloud Kunoichi; back before the massacre and Third Great Ninja War. The story goes he actually did get lucky, but being an out of shape Civilian Lord in bed with a dominating fully trained Kunoichi had been a far more painful experience than what he expected. Simply put, if you can kick a tree down than your leg muscles are really strong, which really sucks if you're the one on top of a guy that can't physically compete with you; or well it does for the guy on his back anyway. Yukio learned his lesson well and now the sight of any Kunoichi, even the lovely Kurenai Yuri, was a complete turn-off.
However, all thoughts of laughter were driven from Mayako's head as she looked back towards the house. 'This can't be good.' The elderly Uzumaki thought cynically. Resigned to the coming headache she explained to her clansman. "Don't worry about it Naruto, a table is on the way."
A group of Samurai, carrying furniture, walked behind the oldest son of the Daimyo. Kin'Ichi was a tall man with yellow hair, kept short, and charcoal black eyes, wearing the same cream colored kimono as his father. Next to the imposing man was his lovely wife Asami wearing a blood red kimono and a diamond necklace. A beautiful young lady from a distant land, the woman had blackish purple long flowing hair, very pale skin, and striking pink eyes with the lips to match. Their twins, a boy and girl, walking in front of them. Both Yasu and Tasu looked remarkably like their mother with very little of their father showing through; except in the young boy's own charcoal black eyes and similar hairstyle. Tasu was dressed like his father and Yasu her mother.
Now, if one were to ask Mayako for an honest opinion of the Yukio's oldest son, she would say that Kin'Ichi was the only child produced by the pervert worth a damn. In all honesty the day he took over ruling the country should be a national holiday. His old fool of a father wanted to go down in history as the greatest Daimyo to ever lead The Land Of Bears, he would have to settle for simply being the sire of the greatest. The lovely Asami was a complete honest and true person that loved her family with open devotion; and she absolutely hated her in-laws. Both children were well behaved and did their level best to not be judgmental of anyone lower in station than themselves; a practice sometimes failed but not intentionally so. They were both still young and had much to learn of the world.
So, if the redhead had such a high opinion of this one offspring of Yukio, why did she anticipate grief and a headache? Simple, the look in little Yasu's lovely pink eyes was equal to that of a Kunoichi on a mission, and if the direction of her gaze was anything to go by the target was Naruto. Glancing down at the oblivious blonde Mayako judged his appearance honestly. One wouldn't call the outfit he wore a fashion statement by any means, but to a Shinobi practicality and advantage took precedence over looks; otherwise you'll just make a well dressed corpse. However, any girl with eyes could see the exact shape of his abdomen, chest, biceps, and triceps through the tight shirt. Thankfully his pants were made much loser but it wouldn't take much imagination to feel in the blanks, especially if you understood that a person's level of chakra could have, at least sometimes, a significant impact on male and female physical development; which was possibly why Hinata and Anko were more 'noticeable' than other Kunoichi. Uzumaki Men were known for having 'larger than average' reserves of chakra. Even taking all this into account the elderly woman didn't believe the blue eyed boy was Yasu's type; which meant the attraction was forced by another's hand. 'You old pervert, what have you put your granddaughter up to Yukio?'
Like the elderly woman next to her Kurenai noticed the purplette's admiring gaze being directed at the Jinchuriki. Turning discretely to read her indigo haired student's facial expression, the Jounin quickly realized she would have to keep in between both little princesses at all times; or at least keep Sakura there to block confrontations. If the cold hard glare was anything to go by Hinata had noticed the look as well and was contemplating multiple ways to kill Yasu before the Samurai could stop her. As interesting a fight over the blonde would be between the Hyuga Heiress and another love struck Kunoichi, this particular battle would be a one sided slaughter.
Yukio walked out front of the Leaf Shinobi happy to have a distraction from Naruto's cold attitude. With exaggerated flourish the Daimyo introduced his family. "Everyone, this is my oldest son Kin'Ichi, his wife Asami, and there two children; my only grandson Tasu and my lovely granddaughter Yasu."
"Please to meet you all." Kurenai said bowing politely. She shot her students warning looks and Sakura fallowed suit; Naruto and Hinata moved their heads a little. "Thank you for having us for dinner."
"Of course, Jounin Kurenai." Kin'Ichi stated formally. Turning to the elderly woman he gave a bow and continued. "Lady Mayako, as always welcome to our home."
The Uzumaki just gave a nod in response. She had grown use to the man's polite formalities with each rare visit. The Daimyo's oldest was a man that always tried to show everyone the respect they were due, be it position in life through birth or achievement, and refused to call her 'aunt' because the rest of his family used the title in a derogatory manner; not that the redhead herself was any better with titles such as 'nephew' or 'niece'. Still the dark eyed man's polite demeanor was an odd contrast to what Mayako had come to expect from Yukio and his children.
Yasu stepped forward a little and said overly happy. "Welcome Lord Naruto, Ladies Hinata and Sakura, well you have tea with us?"
The young blonde turned to look behind him at the table now setting under the gazebo; the Samurai had set it up while they were talking and the maids had already placed an assortment of tea kettles, cups, and crackers. Turning back to the purplette heiress the Ninja Wrap wearing Genin shrugged and said. "Guess so."
Everyone began taking seats, Yukio at the head, Mayako at the furthest end from the Daimyo, adults on the left with Kurenai staying close to their client. However, as the Genin of Squad Eight began sitting down, somewhat absentmindedly since they always had the same arrangement, Yasu beat Hinata for the chair next to Naruto. With his clanswoman on one side and the purple haired princess on the other the Jinchuriki was stuck.
"High." Yasu said with a bright smile as she got uncomfortable close. "How have you enjoyed your visit to The Land Of Bears so far, Lord Naruto? I'm sure meeting a long lost family member has been exciting."
"Ah, it's ok I guess. Deadfall Village was nice and so is Lady Mayako." The blonde answered blandly.
"That's wonderful!" The girl responded as if what Naruto said was a grand statement. "Maybe if you have time I can show you a few tourist sites before you return home?"
Naruto just gave the girl one of Sasuke's patient grunts, not knowing how to answer since he was confused by the odd behavior, even if no one else was. Obviously she was trying to flirt, big time, with the one year younger boy; however, there existed three things negating the attempted seduction. One, the only experience the blonde had with girls chasing boys was the actions of fan girls flinging themselves at Sasuke Uchiha, as Yasu wasn't trying to rip his close off the girl's body language was lost on him; after all, this was the guy that had no idea Hinata was interested since the age of eight. For him to finally understand the Hyuga's feelings took a Battle Field Confession during the fight against Mizuki at the age of thirteen five years later, an incredible accomplishment of thickheadedness that would go down in Leaf Village Historical Records. The second thing working against the young Nobuo Princess was the fact her grandfather might as well have slit ever throat of all the Uzumaki that died in Whirlpool himself. The blue eyed boy would never blame the girl for the actions of Daimyo Yukio, he had to much experience being unfairly blamed for Kyuubi's actions himself, but that didn't mean he had forgotten this particular family needed to be kept at arms length for safety reasons. The Third and final reason was because the tittle 'Lord Naruto' was off putting, he preferred it better when Hinata called him 'Naruto-kun'.
Kurenai watched on amused as her only male pupil unknowingly shot down the overly-flirtatious girl's advances. Knowing that her attempts would never be read the way she hoped made the Genjutsu Mistress smirk; though looking next to Yasu made her worry. Hinata had seated herself there and was giving the back of the purplette's head such a glare the Jounin wouldn't be surprised to see smoke coming from it. Tasu was setting next to the Hyuga Princess and was attempting to find something to say; he also notice the glaring. Sakura was on the other side of the boy and looked lost on what to do.
Finally, Tasu seemed to just go with his twins ice breaker. "So Lady Hinata, how has your trip been? I hope the mission assignment is not to difficult for you."
Hinata turned from the conversation her teammate was having with the older girl, and gave the twin brother an icy glare. "It was going nicely, thank you for asking." With that the young heiress turned back to her heartthrob signaling an end to any further conversation.
The grandson of Yukio was nervous as he tried to think of something else to engage the Hyuga Heiress. His job in all this was to try and separate the two young Kunoichi from their teammate to give his sister a chance; unfortunately, they scared the hell out of him. If the young Nobuo Prince didn't find someway to complete his grandfather's assignment he would never hear the end of it. Lessening as his sister tried to talk about Hidden Leaf with Naruto, the brother knew it was hopeless; the indigo haired heiress had no interest in talking to him at all and was not about to leave the blonde's side.
Seeing her son in such a panic about failing Asami decided to step in to help. Honestly the woman had never thought she could possibly hate the Daimyo anymore than at this moment. She was completely against the idea of her daughter marrying Naruto; nothing against the young Uzumaki or Shinobi in general, but the thought of what her father-in-law told his own granddaughter to do filled her with disgust. The chances of the Genin falling in love with one possible day and night of socializing were small, so Yukio had ordered Yasu to lure the boy into a compromising situation; getting caught in her room half naked would work, going all the way even better. To keep silent the possible scandal such a thing would cause would mean a marriage contract between the children, one the Fire Daimyo and Hokage would agree upon to keep their country's reputation intact.
Asami desperately searched for some way to get the two young Kunoichi's attention when she realized the pinkette had draped a music case on the back of her chair. Seeing as the girl was less hostile than her teammate she asked hurriedly. "I see you have an instrument Lady Sakura, could you play something for us?"
Green eyes looked up in shock at being addressed; the whole table was sitting in silence at the level of hostility Hinata was showing. Her brain registering the question the young girl nodded her head. "Yes Lady Asami, if you want I can play a song or two."
"That would be a bad idea Sakura." Kurenai jumped in quickly. Turning to the wife ok Kin'Ichi the Jounin explained. "My student's violin is more of a weapon than musical instrument. The thing was designed for combat, fixed with axe blades and a pointed medal bow; though its main function is Genjutsu. The Samurai might not like my student holding a deadly weapon at the table, and technically any song she plays could be an attack. Not that she ever would but the Samurai have no real way of knowing or stopping a Genjutsu; unless they have mastered the deepest art of meditation their discipline offers."
"Oh I see." The woman said unsure. She didn't truly understand how music could be a weapon. Turning to the young Kunoichi still glaring daggers at her daughter, the lovely woman asked. "Do you play an instrument Lady Hinata."
"No." Was the girl quiet sharp reply. She hadn't even bothered to turn away from Yasu.
Yukio was outraged, didn't Shinobi teach their children how to properly behave in the presence of their betters? He couldn't even call the child out on her behavior sense she probably had a smart comeback that would just make the awkwardness worse. How was his granddaughter supposed to lure the stupid boy into a situation they could manipulate? He needed someway to separate the Shinobi and get Yasu alone with Naruto. Looking towards his house the Daimyo saw his remaining two children headed their way. His second born son was proudly dressed in a solid black kimono with gold bejeweled on the chest in a Land Of Bears Insignia; his braided dark blonde beard and long flowing hair were immaculate. Ryoko wore a dark pink kimono that matched the Haruno Heiress' hair and a simple silver necklace. Seeing his offspring gave the man an idea.
"Everyone!" The decrepit pervert exclaimed happily. "May I introduce my second born son, Takehiko Nobuo, and my youngest, plus only daughter, Ryoko."
Greetings were exchanged between everyone and Takehiko sat down next to Kurenai, giving her a flirtatious smile and wink. Ryoko looked at the table and realized there wasn't enough room for herself, a cruel trick Yukio pulled on purpose to embarrass his overweight daughter, and was about to walk back to the house in disgust when her dad stopped her. "Oh Ryoko, I'm sorry dear but this tea gathering wasn't planned." The Daimyo seemed to think it over when an idea seemingly came to him. "I know, Yasu dear, why don't you take Lord Naruto to see the ducks. The young ducklings should be playing at this time. That well free up a chair for your aunt."
Alarm bells began ringing in Kurenai's head at the problems that could cause. She didn't know exactly what the old coot was after but figured his granddaughter was a key piece in whatever hair brained scheme was taking place. Luckily, during team training, the Genjutsu Mistress had stressed the importance of The Art Of Lying with her students; they knew to shut up and go along with whatever she was saying, especially in a potentially hostile or confusing situation. Quickly coming up with a believable story she said. "That would be inappropriate Lord Yukio, Naruto spending some time alone with a girl not his fiancé would be potentially scandalous in nature."
All three Genin looked to their Sensei confused, until they noticed her left pinky tapping the table top; this was the signal to shut up, listen, and react accordingly. A look of annoyance crossed Yukio's old face before schooling it into a mask of polite curiosity. "My dear, I don't see a problem. Unless Lord Naruto is already in a marriage contract that is."
"That is the problem sir." The Genjutsu Mistress stressed. "My students Naruto and Hinata are in an arrangement which resulted from a failed kidnapping. An unknown Shinobi attempted to abduct Lady Hinata but was stopped when Naruto stumbled across the crime. In gratitude, Lord Hiashi Hyuga petitioned Lord Hokage to bind his oldest in matrimony with her rescuer."
'Damn!' The Bears Daimyo thought angrily. 'No doubt the blasted Hyuga set the whole thing up. This will make getting the brat and Yasu alone more difficult.'
"However, if my students do want to go and look at the ducklings they may, but only together so as to avoid scandalous imagination and rumors." Team Eight's Sensei compromised.
"Yeah, let's do that." Naruto jumped in eager to get away from the Daimyo. Quickly he stood and took Hinata's hand as she followed suit. Sakura shrugged and joined her teammates waiting for the two twins. Unsure about what to do Yukio's grandchildren left with the Genin.
Ryoko sat down in Sakura's vacant chair next to her father. Yukio looked across the table at Kurenai and tried to think of a way to swindle more information about Naruto. "So, Jounin Kurenai, if you don't mind me asking how exactly did you get a team of noble heirs?"
The red eyes of Team Eight's Leader found the Daimyo's charcoal ones, the same as his son and grandson actually, and explained. "No secret to it really. All three of my students show aptitude for Genjutsu in one form or another so they were assigned to me."
That was news to Yukio. He figured the woman would say something along the lines of convenience; the other teams were full so the three kids were just thrown together. He never figured on there being an actual reason for the team formation other than the Hyuga and Haruno wanting the Uzumaki Heir for their families; the old pervert was sure the nobles of Leaf wanted Whirlpool.
Trying another approach the old lecher asked. "So who is educating the young boy in politics. Surely a boy that will one day be the Whirlpool Daimyo needs a thorough education."
It took a moment for the raven haired Jounin to make sense of the question. When it finally dawned on her exactly what Yukio was assuming it took all her trained discipline to not laugh out loud. Mentally composing herself the woman explained. "To my knowledge no one has begun educating Naruto on politics beyond a basic Shinobi's understanding; though I believe Lord Hyuga will start soon. As for my student growing up to be the Whirlpool Daimyo, he will one day be given aid in rebuilding Hidden Whirlpool and rule over the territory as the Feudal Lord under the Fire Daimyo. To my knowledge there exists no immediate plan to emancipate the territory in the near future, though I believe it was discussed; something about having two Hidden Villages in the same nation not being practical."
"Oh, I see." Yukio stated befuddled while stroking his beard. "Well, should the boy require advice he is more than welcome to write me. In a roundabout way he is family."
The Jounin bit her tongue to keep a sharp reply in check that almost escaped. It wouldn't due to remind your host that most loving families didn't murder their members off for profit and money. In the corner of her eye Kurenai witnessed a multitude of violent emotions run across Mayako's lovely face, clearly she was thinking along the same lines as the raven haired woman.
…. Later That Day ….
Kin'Ichi Nobuo stood on his private balcony watching as the sun set in the distance, a Samurai guarding his back. The man's father had decided to have a late dinner in hopes of encouraging the Leaf Shinobi to stay the night. In the private room his wife and daughter were getting ready. Asami was doing everything in her power to bring out Yasu's natural beauty in hopes of impressing Naruto Uzumaki; the man had to admit he never in his life saw so much makeup. Several of the more expensive heirlooms had also been brought out of the family vault for the occasion.
"Lord Kin'Ichi, we need to talk." The man heard someone say above him. Startled, the blonde looked up and met the angry red eyes of Kurenai Yuri, glowing ominously in the fading light, as she stuck magnetically to the wall. Next to the man his guard began slowly reaching for his katana, all the Samurai had insisted upon fallowing every member of the family if they left their rooms for this very reason; Shinobi were good at being sneaky.
Waving his guard off the man addressed the Jounin. "Very well, Miss Yuhi, I suppose we do."
Landing a comfortable distance away at the far end of the balcony, Kurenai spoke coldly. "I'll go ahead and cut to the chase, we're both busy people after all; why is your daughter flinging herself at my student as if she were nothing but a painted up whore?"
The blonde man stood stock still without showing any emotion. Finally, he turned to his guard and asked. "Can we have some privacy?"
"My lord, I must insist…" the man began earnestly.
However, he was cut off by Kin'Ichi's more firmer voice. "Can you please give us some privacy?"
The guard easily recognized the tone as dismissal even if the sentence was still in the form of a question. Bowing politely the man left through the balcony's sliding door without another word. The noble man turned to look out over the lawn, rapping his knuckles on the railing, while contemplating the best way to explain the behavior of his child. Without taking his eyes off the landscape he spoke. "I can't remember a time when I agreed with any decision my father ever made; not one. Be that as it may Yukio is my father and the ruling Daimyo of The Land Of Bears. As his son and heir it is my duty to attempt to carry out his wishes even if I don't agree with them; especially if there exist some form of benefit to my country. As a Shinobi in service to the Hokage and The Land Of Fire, I'm sure you understand that all to well."
Kurenai let some of the anger leave her lovely face as she conceded the man had a point. Turning to gaze in the same direction as the future Daimyo the woman reasoned. "Ok, I'll give you that one. I've done things I'm not proud of in service to my country, and several have kept me up at night, but you're involving your daughter in a shameful way."
"I'm not on board with my father's plan." The man explained harshly with hard resolve shining in his charcoal eyes. "He believed that Whirlpool would be emancipated and given fully over to Lord Naruto, and a marriage with Yasu would give the Nobuo Clan a controlling interest; possibly even ownership one day. To that end he ordered my daughter, his own granddaughter, to, as you so bluntly put it, whore herself out to the boy; his wording was more elegant but the point was still the same. He knows the chances of the young boy falling for Yasu so soon after meeting are slim, so hopes a compromising situation can seal the deal."
Kurenai studied the man for a moment then asked. "You'll allow this? You'll allow your daughter to do what your father asks?"
Sighing sadly the blonde explained. "It is my duty, as much as Yasu's, to carry out the Daimyo's well; especially if, as I've already explained, there exists a chance to better The Land Of Bears."
The Jounin shook her head disgusted. Angrily she cautioned. "Very well, attempt your plan, but I give fair warning; my student may be overly gullible at times but that doesn't mean he is any less lethal than any other Shinobi. If you or your daughter try to drug him into compliance, or something similar, he will lash out with deadly force while he is able; not to mention what I or his teammates will do."
Kin'Ichi straightening up a little and stated formally. "I take no offense to your warning, Miss Yuhi. Despite my father's perverted nature, or rather because of it, he has given no order to use any other method except …. natural born talent. Lord Daimyo believes that all men are just like him deep down and Naruto simply can not resist my daughter's beauty; I don't even think the notion of using a drug crossed his mind."
Turning to face the Jounin, the blonde man saw she had already left. Turning back to the evening sky he sighed resigned to the fact his father was a fool; and that he most likely a bigger one for complying to his wishes. Frustratedly pounding his fist upon the balcony's railing one last time Kin'Ichi headed back inside his room to get ready for dinner.
It didn't take Kurenai long to sneak her way back to the guest rooms. Walking in she saw Anko standing in a corner by herself. The kids were looking at some of the spare kimonos the Nobuo Clan had been gracious enough to lend; judging by the contemptuous looks in the eyes of the children no one was going to wear anything other than mission gear. The purplette was glancing her was so the Genjutsu Mistress walked over.
"How did things go with ol' Lord Kin'Ichi?" The Special Jounin asked curiously.
"Frustratingly troublesome." Kurenai answered annoyed. "He confirmed what we had already suspected. That bastard Yukio is making a play for Whirlpool and using his granddaughter as the bait."
Looking at their students the raven haired woman asked. "Is no one dressing up? I kind of figured Ami would love the chance; granted so would Sakura but she has to much respect for Naruto."
Anko gave her friend a sly smirk. "I told my idiotic Kunoichi student that if she excepted the enemy's gift, I'd rip it off of her when we made the Dinning Room."
Team Eight's Sensei groined annoyed while turning to her friend, but what she was about to say was forgotten as a knock came from the door. Answering the Jounin saw a long haired blonde maid in a standard beige kimono with a bear claw on the shoulder. "Greetings ma'am, dinner we'll be served soon and I was tasked with escorting you and the children."
"Very well." Kurenai answered with a smile. "Give is a moment."
Closing the door the Genjutsu Mistress turned back to the students and explained. "All right, let's get this bullshit dinner over with. Be on your best behavior and don't embarrass Leaf or Fire. Sakura, Hinata, stick to Naruto's side like glue and don't let Yasu anywhere near him. Team Six just smile and nod unless someone asks you a specific question. Anko, …. Be more like me and less like you; there is no need to traumatize the Nobuo Clan at this time."
"Ah, your no fun Kure-chan." The Snake Mistress whined. "I like making people scared and uncomfortable." The taller woman didn't bother humoring her friend as she lead everyone out.
The Shinobi fallowed the young blonde woman through various hallways and stairways, decorated with bear skin through rugs in almost every shape and size, to an overly massive room with a long dark marble table. Each side of the impressive piece of furniture held dark stained mahogany chairs. The Daimyo was seated in the head chair while Mayako sat to his left. The Leaf Shinobi were tempted to sit on the opposite end, but decided to join their client on her side of the table.
"Greetings everyone, we're still waiting on my family but they shouldn't be much longer." Yukio explained.
"That's fine Lord Daimyo." Kurenai answered for everyone. "We don't mind waiting."
The bald man smiled kindly while giving the visitors a look over. Confused he asked. "Was there something wrong with the spar clothing I sent all of you?"
"Oh no sir, they were lovely garments." The raven haired Jounin assured. "It's just we feel more comfortable in our mission gear. We're sorry if we gave offense, it wasn't our intention."
"It was mine." Naruto grumbled barely audible.
"Not to worry everyone." The lecher spoke jovially, brushing off the situation as if he hadn't heard the boy speak. "I just thought you and the other Shinobi would like dressing up a little. I know my granddaughter does love to look nice and thought the young ladies at least might like some finery as well. It was entirely everyone's own decision though."
It wasn't much longer before they were joined by Kin'Ichi and his family. The man sat across from Mayako with his wife next to him; however, both twins took seats across from the Genin. Naruto resisted the urge to grumble as the annoying Yasu fixed him with her ever present smile. She had changed her look a little with a tighter whiteish red kimono and a diamond bear claw necklace that sat perfectly at the top of her breasts; drawing the eyes of whoever looked to her chest. The trick worked well on Hibachi but not some much Tora and Naruto. The long haired Kenjutsu Practitioner was to much of a professional to fall for such an obvious distraction, and the Jinchuriki had to much respect for girls, especially after spending so much time around his teammates, to look anywhere else but the purplette's pale pink eyes.
"Hello Lord Naruto, how has your evening been." Yasu inquired with a smile.
"It was fine." The blue eyed boy answered bored. "Not much to do really except take a nap. Suppose we could have gone exploring but the Samurai seem a little on edge with us around."
"Oh, if you want me and Tasu can give a tour after dinner." The young girl stated happily.
Kurenai was keeping track of the children's conversation as well the Daimyo's talking. She didn't want one of the kids to say something embarrassing while also not wanting to seem rude to Yukio. The man was discussing the road maintenance of Deadfall Village and surrounding territories with Mayako; it was very dull. Soon they were joined by Ryoko who took the chair next to Asami. The plump woman smiled kindly at her sister-in-law and explained to everyone. "Takehiko won't be joining us. Something about armor and weapon shipments."
"Your brother, always working to keep The Land Of Bears safe." The Daimyo stated proudly. Turning to Kurenai and Anko he continued. "Sent him to train in The Land Of Iron when he was younger. His instructor, an old friend of the family named Goro Inaba, said he was one of the finest pupils he ever taught. It didn't take him long to receive a solid education and return home to lead our forces."
"You must be so proud of him." Anko stated with mock enthusiasm. Kurenai quickly shot her a warning look and she recovered. "Is he still eligible or had a lucky young lady landed him?" The moment the question left the Snake Mistress's lip's she regretted it. 'Oh shit, I'm going to puke.'
Yukio got a big smile on his face thinking. 'Chip off the old block, even this Kunoichi finds my Takehiko irresistible.' Out loud he said. "Oh no dear, there is no lucky lady yet. My son is fully dedicated to protecting our lands and doesn't have much time for himself."
Soon the staff interrupted them with platters of a wide variety of food. There was roasted duck, a large assortment of sushi, several different kinds of tea, and vegetables with rice cooked a multitude of different ways; it was over kill fo such a small gathering of guests. The Genin glanced around the table feeling a little overwhelmed by what they were seeing. Both Jounin had seen similar spreads before so didn't let it faze them.
Naruto looked around the table annoyed, all this food and no ramen in sight; the stupid Nobuo Clan didn't even have good taste. Tasu noticed the blonde's grumpy pout and asked. "Is something wrong Lord Naruto?"
Not wanting to start talking about food the Jinchuriki quickly said. "No." Grabbing a platter of rice with grilled eel and sardines the Genin quickly busied himself with the meal.
The twins exchanged looks not knowing how to proceed. Yasu decided to try and start a conversation in hopes of learning more about the blonde. "You all should try the steamed squid, our chef's specialty. My and Tasu's favorite is the Gyoza though."
"The steamed squid is amazing." Hibachi agreed. "Squid is definitely one of my favorite things to eat and I always like trying it deferent ways."
"Red beans with sweet dumplings, one of the only thing me and my Anko Sensei have in common other than our hair color." Ami jumped in.
Both members of Team Six looked around to see if anyone else would be polite and volunteer something. Toru rolled his eyes when he noticed Ami giving him an inquisitive look. "Egg Rolls."
Sakura looked at her teammates uncomfortably, she understood Yasu was fishing for information but saw no harm in answering such a common question. Just getting it over with the pinkette stated. "I like roasted chicken, Hinata likes cinnamon buns, and Naruto could eat ramen for every meal if Kurenai Sensei would let him."
"Oh, I've had ramen before, it was really good." Yasu exclaimed brightly.
"I'm sure dear, now you and Naruto-kun have something in common; how lucky." Hinata snidely mocked without missing a beat.
'Oh, that was cold.' Sakura thought astonished. 'Once again I'm glade Hinata doesn't have a crush on Sasuke.'
Both twins acted as if they hadn't heard the Hyuga Heiress's remark as they struggled to converse with their target. Hinata didn't touch much of the food as she sat judging her enemies. Neither Yasu or Tasu knew how to address the threat that the young heiress presented to get at Naruto. After a while dessert was served in the form of sponge cake and ice cream. A generous helping later and both of Yukio's grandchildren were ready to give a complimentary tour of the manor.
"Grandfather, everyone, may we all be excused to show the guests around the grounds?" Tasu asked politely.
"Oh yes, wonderful idea." Yukio beamed. "I'll inform the Samurai to give you children some privacy."
'Funny, I don't remember agreeing to a tour.' Naruto thought bitterly. Not knowing how to refuse though he stood up along with everyone else. Reluctantly the Leaf Genin began making their way to the exit.
"Come on everyone." Yasu happily spoke as she took the lead. "The North Garden looks so lovely around this time."
…. North Exit ….
Making his way through polished hallways again, Naruto looked around bored. The bear skin rugs were way to excessive in his opinion. It also seemed as if most of the maids had taken the night off. Looking back the way they had come the blonde saw four Samurai in masks fallowing two without face coverings. The group of six guards were keeping a comfortable distance away while staying close to the twins. When a maid accompanied them out into the hallway and informed the waiting men of the Daimyo's orders they hadn't been pleased, but complied regardless.
"Finally, we made it." Tasu exclaimed happily.
Turning around the blue eyed blonde saw a beautiful sight. The North Garden was made up of one very large pond in the middle of a small hedge maze. The night sky was clear and the stars shown down brightly, the light enhanced by a full moon. Walking up to the clear water Naruto saw it was shallow along the banks with colorful fish swimming around, their colors so vibrant they were easy to distinguish in moonlight.
"So what do you guys think?" Yasu asked enthused. "The hedge maze actually has hidden areas with statues and plaques dedicated to the more noteworthy Daimyo that graced The Land Of Bears. Would you like to see some of my ancestors?"
"Oh yes, that would be lovely." Hinata said with a disturbing smile. "Tell me, were is the statue of your grandfather standing; close in a place of honor."
Giving a nervous laugh Tasu jumped in to help his sister. "Grandfather doesn't have a statue. At the end of their reign each Daimyo is evaluated by the various lords and ladies that served under them to determine if they deserve the recognition."
"Oh I see." The Hyuga Heiress spoke in a curious fashion. "How likely is Lord Yukio to get a statue in his honor; after all the man has done so much for The Land Of Bears. Increasing what you have to pay simply to receive protection from Hidden Cloud and ki…."
"So, can you show us the maze!?" Sakura loudly interrupted her teammate. Looking to the indigo haired girl she shot her a look that clearly asked. 'Really, you want to bring that up now.'
It wasn't like the pinkette didn't understand her friend's anger. This long haired purplette was putting the moves on a boy she didn't know because there was money to be made. More than likely on her own grandfather's orders, which was just sick. Hinata knew Naruto better than anyone and fully understood his emotional pain at being in this manor, in the presence of a man that was partially to blame for his orphan status no less; her protective side, and more dangerously the Kunoichi side, was raring to fight for the boy she loved. Sakura secretly wondered if her friend wanted Yasu to attack so she would have a half decent reason to bitch slap the older girl
Tasu looked between his sister and the Hyuga Heiress afraid. Yasu was a very polite person and rarely lost her temper but the indigo haired girl was pushing all the right buttons. If an argument broke out the Leaf Shinobi could use it as an excuse to call it a night and return to their rooms. Such an act would more than likely kill any chance they had of completing the assignment. Clearing his throat to get everyone's attention the boy spoke. "Right this way. I'll introduce you to the Daimyo that kept our neighbors from attacking by successfully lying about Bear's military strength. It was before the Five Great Shinobi Nations."
The Daimyo's grandson met his sister's eyes briefly giving a look that stated. 'Remember the plan.'
Just before dinner the two had talked and come to a realization; Naruto would rather drop dead than be alone with Yasu. This meant the only way this could possibly work was to take the blonde by surprise and get the Samurai to discover the seen quickly. Undoubtedly the guards were aware of the Daimyo's plot, but they didn't truly know how far this would be taken to secure Whirlpool. The maze was the best shot to accomplish everything, Tasu would distract everyone with a tail about their ancestors while Yasu literally flung herself at Naruto. If all went well she would have locked lips with her target behind a hedge corner and be half way undressed by the time the Samurai found them. This should be sufficient enough to drum up a scandal Hidden Leaf and The Land Of Fire would do almost anything to keep quiet. She and the blonde would be heading down the isle within a month.
Walking into the maze's right side entrance the group of children headed left quickly coming to a fork. Tasu led them all down the one on the right and they came to a small open area were a large statue was located. It was a man that looked impossibly fit in the tradition robes of a Daimyo. Standing with his hands folded behind his back, the former ruler's braided beard, ponytail, and symmetrical mustache reached all the way to the ground.
"This was my great-great-great-great grandfather, Sadao Nobuo." The purple haired boy began proudly. "Long ago a fever swept across our lands sickening many and killing most. Fearing our neighbors would learn of the decline in military strength my ancestor devised a plan to fool everyone, even his own people, into thinking we were stronger than ever. It involved having solders march in ways that tore up more ground leaving easily visible sign they had passed. There was more to it than that but the jest was our neighbors could never get a proper head count."
As Tasu droned on about his ancestor, Yasu slowly made her way around the distracted Shinobi. Naruto was standing with his back to the hedge wall at the entrance they came through, long as no one noticed her this would be perfect. Trying to be subtle while leaning on the wall beside the Uzumaki Heir, the lovely purplette batted her eyelashes longingly. The Genin turned startled to look in her direction as she pounced.
Sakura looked around when she noticed someone missing. Turning to Hinata when she didn't immediately see Naruto or Yasu, she became confused though after spotting the blonde standing next to the Hyuga Heiress. "Ah, Naruto, where did you come from. I thought you were standing over by the front."
"Oh, I may have used a basic False Visual to kind of switch places with Hibachi." The Jinchuriki explained offhandedly. "I was just getting tired of Yasu's attention and figured that jackass would love it." Brightening up when he came to a realization the blonde giggled. "I'm getting pretty good if no one noticed."
"Ok, well does anyone see Hibachi or Yasu?" The pinkette asked worriedly.
"Maybe the harlot is making out with that little brat." Hinata suggested coldly.
Naruto scratched his head and asked. "What's a harlot."
Hinata was about to explain when it dawned on her she didn't know either. Shrugging she said. "Not sure, one of my older cousins used it when she was yelling at her boyfriend. Something like 'I can't believe you were sparring with that harlot.' I don't think she meant 'sparring' though by the way she emphasized the word."
Sakura looked back and forth between her teammates dumbfounded. Hissing angrily she asked "What are you two talking about!? Don't you realize what this means! Yasu and Hibachi are alone but she thinks the lips she's kissing belong to Naruto!"
It took all of two seconds for the truth to smack Hinata straight in her pretty face, which she summed up nicely. "Oh fuck."
"Yeah, exactly, that's what I'm worried might happen!" The pinkette hissed.
The Genin of Squad Eight tried to think of a way out of this mess when Tasu noticed them. Pausing his story about his ancestor's political marriage he asked. "Is everything ok, you look worried about something?" Looking to Squad Six the purplette noticed his sister was gone along with the Genin with light brown hair and grey sock cap. "Where did Yasu and your teammate go?"
Tora and Ami looked around shocked seeing that Hibachi was indeed missing. Both gave the young heir confused looks before everyone heard a shout come from behind the bushes. "LADY YASU, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT BOY!?"
Everyone quickly made their way to the yelling and saw the two unmasked Samurai with katanas drawn glaring daggers at Hibachi. The stupidly confused boy was laying shirtless underneath an exposed Yasu; her whiteish red kimono front was open showing off a little dark purple lingerie bra. The heiress tried to act shocked about being caught until her eyes fell on the real Naruto standing horrified by Hinata. Slowly the genuinely shocked girl's pale pink eyes traveled to the boy between her hips to discover the wrong Leaf Genin. She gave out a piercing scream and jumped off quickly, but the damage was done.
"I believe we need to go and see Lord Daimyo." One of the Samurai stated coldly, sword still drawn.
"Hold on." Ami exclaimed terrified. "I'm sure there is a logical explanation for this."
"Oh, like what?" Sakura grumbled angrily. "They were talking and tripped. I guess their shirt and kimono just got snagged in the bushes, right?"
"Stop talking and start marching." The same Samurai growled threatening. "You can all explain what happened to Lord Daimyo."
'Kurenai Sensei is going to be so pissed at us.' Sakura groined in her head. 'Stupid Hibachi, he knew Yasu was after Naruto, he knew to keep his distance, what made him think she was wanting to make out with him; he isn't the heir to a fortune.'
…. Daimyo Throne Room Waiting Area ….
Anko stood trembling in rage at the story just told to her. Glaring hard at the stupid boy she'd been saddled with to teach, the Snake Mistress wanted so badly to ram his teeth down his throat. Of all the stupid stunts he could have pulled this was by far the worst. After Naruto explained he had used Genjutsu to make everyone in the vicinity see him as Hibachi so as to avoid Yasu's advances, the idiot brunette admitted he understood something was wrong with the Nobuo Princess but hadn't thought to stop her from ripping off his shirt.
The scared boy hugged himself as his Sensei continued to glare. He was cold as his shirt was no longer wearable and no one had provided a spare. Trying to come up with some kind of excuse Hibachi explained. "I'm sorry Anko Sensei, when she started kissing me I just got lost in the moment; besides, I'm not the only one to blame, Naruto is the one that used Genjutsu."
The enraged purplette closed her eyes and sat down on one of the two provided red leather couches, desperately trying to calm down. Pointing her finger at the spot directly in front of herself, she waited for Hibachi to set. Taking a deep breath she explained through clenched teeth. "You're a damned Shinobi, Genin! You don't get lost in the moment, you're supposed to always think logically about everything you are doing and what is going on around you. Yes, you are correct, Naruto is also to blame but he wasn't the one undressing the Nobuo Heiress. You knew something was wrong and you did nothing. I have half a mind to castrate you right here and now."
Ami and Tora sat down on either side of their teammate protectively. Neither truly believed Anko would hurt him but that didn't mean she was any less terrifying. It was the Kenjutsu User that tried to defend his fellow Genin. "Sensei, this was a situation none of use were prepared for. Hibachi had no idea how to react and it happened so fast he wasn't given time to stop it on his own. Say what you want about him but do you honestly think it would have gotten to actual intercourse? Eventually his brain would have kicked in and logic would have won out."
"Fine, I'll give you that one." Anko admitted. "However, this situation wouldn't be even half as bad if his brain kicked in sooner."
Seeing her students had nothing more to say the annoyed Jounin stood and paced the room thinking. No matter how you figured this situation through it was bad. The Nobuo Clan could claim Naruto used Genjutsu against Yasu to disgrace her and Hibachi was in on it. The little fool blonde would have to admit mentally screwing with everyone to switch physical places with Hibachi, it wasn't much more of a stretch to say he was mind controlling the princess to act without reason. 'I can only imagine what Kurenai is saying to her team right now.'
After all the children had been brought before the Daimyo and the situation explained by the Samurai, both squads had been asked to wait in separate rooms while the Nobuo Clan talked things over with their own. The look on old Yukio's face was priceless as he learned Yasu had jumped the wrong Genin; that stupid shit eating smirk had turned to abstract horror when he learned Whirlpool was still outside his grasp. Anko had sent a snake with a new message for the Hokage immediately after getting away from watchful eyes. The note was simple, 'Hibachi almost screwed the Yasu Nobuo when she was under Genjutsu to think he was Naruto, which Naruto himself preformed; please advise.'
A knock came from the entrance door and a Samurai walked in. He glanced angrily at Hibachi for a second before saying. "Lord Daimyo is ready for you."
Anko marched out in front of her team as they made the quick trip to the Throne Room. The area they entered was massive as it was meant to be dominating. Standing on the ground floor one was made to look up a flight of stairs to the second story were the ruler sat on his throne. The whole place was various hues of grey to black with engravings of ferocious looking bears carved on the floors, walls, and ceiling. Yukio sat in his red padded chair looking down harshly at the Shinobi. Kurenai and Squad Eight soon joined the assembly while Mayako stood directly in the middle of both teams.
Glancing quickly to the left the Snake Mistress saw Kin'Ichi and his family along with Ryoko standing uncomfortably waiting for the deliberations to begin. It didn't take much longer as Yukio commanded. "Lord Naruto Uzumaki, Genin Hibachi Adachi, step forward."
Both boys left their squads to do as asked. Hibachi looked terrified and cold as he was still shirtless, but Naruto kept a defiant look on his face; even being judged harshly by someone he deeply hated the boy was unfazed. The old Daimyo noticed the icy look in the boy's blue eyes and became angry.
'This fool brat has no idea who he is dealing with.' Yukio thought superiorly. Out loud he spoke. "Lord Naruto, Genin Hibachi, you both stand accused of possibly using the Shinobi Art Genjutsu to disgrace my granddaughter Yasu Nobuo. How do you plead?"
"Not guilty." Both boys spoke at the same time. Naruto's voice was steady and strong while Hibachi was trembling.
Yukio's charcoal eyes hardened further. "Very well, as Lord Naruto is held in higher regard by my house we will have his side of the story first."
The Jinchuriki looked up at Yukio defiantly. "From the moment I came here your granddaughter has been all over me. At first I took the attention as weird but tried to remain polite as I could, I'm not used to girls fawning over me and believed it was her way of just being nice; until I noticed I was the only boy she was …. taken with; I guess you could put it. All I wanted was some breathing room so tricked everyone into seeing Hibachi as myself and myself as Hibachi, that way Yasu's affections would be aimed somewhere else for a little while. I did nothing more than that, Lord Daimyo."
"So you admit to using Genjutsu against my granddaughter!?" Yukio exclaimed for clarification. "No matter the level of use such a thing in my home, or any Daimyo's home for that matter, is considered assault, or didn't you know that child."
"I knew." Naruto answered blandly. "I just didn't think it would matter. How was I to know Yasu would act so brashly with a boy she had just met?"
Anko really wanted to give Kurenai a high five; though the words came from Naruto's mouth they were clearly the Genjutsu Mistress's choice. Looking to Hibachi her hopes began to plummet when she realized the boy was going to give his side of the story using his own brain; they were doomed. However the Jounin felt hope rising as she looked to Kin'Ichi and his family, the twins' facial expression showed shame instead of anger.
"Genin Hibachi, what do you have to say for yourself?" The old Daimyo barked drawing everyone's attention.
The purple haired Jounin watched her student gulp nervously as he began his explanation. "I'm sorry sir, I don't really know what happened. Naruto never informed me of the Genjutsu until after the fact. When Yasu came up to me it was completely unexpected. I saw the way she paid so much attention to Naruto but she never looked my way once until right then. When she started kissing me my mind went blank; honestly, I'm not even sure when I lost my shirt or when her kimono came open."
'Oh, that will smooth things over. Remind his 'lordship' that his granddaughter was half naked while setting in your lap.' Anko thought annoyed. 'At least he didn't try and shift full blame on to Naruto.'
The old pervert sat stroking his beard lost in thought. Finally, he fixed Hibachi with a cold look and asked sharply. "You proclaim to have had no existing knowledge of the Genjutsu Lord Naruto preformed, are you claiming to be a victim in all this as well?"
'Don't you do it, don't you do it.' Anko repeated in her head worriedly. The bastard Yukio had just given her stupid student a way out while hanging the blonde out to dry.
"No sir, that's not what I meant at all." The shirtless boy gulped. "Just that I didn't detect the Genjutsu. As Naruto explained he didn't bother telling anyone because he never saw a problem shifting Yasu's focus onto me. He didn't suspect she would jump him so … ah …. shamefully. Hehehe." The scared Genin finished with a nervous laugh.
'Finally, proof he has a brain.' Team Six's Sensei though relieved. 'Iruka's training finally shines through. One of the practical Shinobi principles; never let an enemy shift the focus of an inquiry away from your own intended direction. Basically keep the light focused on the fact Yasu would have jumped Naruto regardless of Genjutsu.'
The Daimyo was trembling in rage at the fools response, he was given a clear way out and hadn't taken it. Grinding his teeth Yukio asked. "Your telling me you think my granddaughter, Lady Yasu Nobuo, would act so … sleazily with a boy she just met!?"
Gulping again while barely staying up right on his trembling knees the Leaf Genin stood his ground. "I've only met her today sir, same as Naruto and everyone else from Hidden Leaf. From what I saw of her behavior it leads me to conclude she is …. easy; I think that's how my dad put it once."
'Oh come on Hibachi!' Anko thought exasperatedly. 'Either you have a brain or you don't.'
The Daimyo was so enraged by the blatant accusation he couldn't speak. "You …. how …. little …. common …. urchin!"
"Father?" Everyone turned to the person that spoke and saw Takehiko walking in from the main entrance. He was dressed in full Samurai Armor with a golden bear mask lifted up exposing his face. The man looked around confused at the assembled people and said. "I was just informed of the transgressions. How is everything going."
"We are still attempting to get to the bottom of all this!" The Daimyo spat. "Both your niece's level of possible indecency and the strength of Lord Naruto Uzumaki's Genjutsu."
The main entrance opened again and Jenshi walked through with a young brunette maid fallowing. The man looked at the Daimyo worriedly and asked. "Sir, if I may, perhaps we should all retire for the night as the hour grows late. Your health being as it is …."
"I'm fine you stupid fool!" Yukio barked. "We are not leaving until we get to the bottom of this!"
Mayako studied the graying bluenette closely as something felt off about his chakra. She hadn't noticed anything this morning but now there existed a darker undertone; as if something was concealed just beneath the surface. The old woman knew she had felt something similar before but couldn't place it. A feeling of foreboding washed over her, as well the Leaf Shinobi, when she felt a chakra surge from the brown haired maid.
Turning quickly the faded redhead saw the young girl slam her hands upon the ground while calling out. "Barrier Art: Life Drain Prison!"
Naruto and Hibachi quickly regrouped with their teams, as they were trained to do, and became trapped with their fellow Shinobi. The distraction caused by the maid allowed Jenshi to Shunshin directly in front of Kin'Ichi and his family to preform his own jutsu. "Barrier Art: Deep Freeze Prison!"
Mayako looked on shocked at what she was seeing. It had been a lifetime since she last saw these techniques deployed. Surrounding both groups trapped in barriers was a circle of glowing kanji that was self maintaining, allowing the two casters to step back; something only her family was known to have knowledge of. (1) Other barrier casters needed to physical maintain the jutsu, but not Uzumaki.
"What …. what is the meaning of this?!" Yukio sputtered outraged.
"Surely father you have heard of a hostile takeover." The Samurai Commander said with a wicked grin.
Author's Note:
(1)- I remember Obito pulling off a flame barrier from a distance during the Fourth Ninja War. That was a special jutsu the Uchiha made that he knew and was different than what I'm describing. The Four Violet Flames Formation, the barrier Orochimaru used to have a one on one battle with Sarutobi during the Chunin Exams, must be held and maintained by four individual ninja, unless your last name is Uzumaki and you know how to place self maintaining kanji to hold the barrier up for you. More on the two barriers in next chapter.
