I cracked my eyes open and a light-filled my vision. It was all white and bright. I raised my right hand and waved it in front of my face. I looked down and saw myself in some sort of white… cloth? Suddenly a ringing filled my ears as murmurs were heard over the complete high pitch sound. I couldn't understand a lot but I managed to make out some words
"Is he going to be ok?" I heard a female voice say
"He took a bullet to the stomach and severe head trauma when he wrestled the armed robber. Internal bleeding, fractured skull, and stomach acid leaking out." I heard another voice say "He's been in a coma for 2 days so far. From what I can say, he would be awake in the next few hours."
I look down to see a woman with black hair, a man with black hair with sunglasses on his forehead with 2 kids. One with a shirt with cartoon characters and another with a skirt with like a picture of a cat on it. They all looked at the man within the white robe and a weird tube with a metal circle on the end. I look over and I saw a glass of water and I reach it with my head paining me while my fingers twitching when I didn't ask for it.
"S-s-stop it fingers." I stuttered over the ringing of my ears, trying to grasp the cup
Suddenly a voice rang out from the silence when I was about to reach for it.
"Mom! He's awake!" I heard a girly voice cry out and I covered my ears to stop the ringing.
I smacked the cup on the floor and there was a loud crash of shattered glass and gasps.
"Make it stop!" I yelled as the ringing continued
Suddenly I felt a mass wrap around me and I open my eyes to see the woman crying and in my arms. I looked down and suddenly she cupped my face with my hands and looked at me dead in the eyes.
"Hey buddy, mommy's here," my mom said, "I was so worried and came as soon as I heard the call."
I stayed silent as I gaze with questioning eyes.
"Hey champ," The man spoke "You're lucky that Lincoln called the hospital as soon as you dealt with the robber. We had to wheel you in an ambulance so they could take the bullet out. Your mom stayed here every night waiting for you to wake up"

"Who's Lincoln?" I questioned,
Suddenly the door burst open and a parade of voices came in. I covered my ears again to stop the ringing as voices filled the room.
I opened my eyes and felt a panic come over me and I looked to see 13 figures march in, all with brown, blonde, white, and black hair.
"Where is he?!"
"Is he ok!"
"Let me see!"
"Stop pushing!"
"Why do you need to be so clingy with him!"
All the voices said an assortment of phrases but soon 2 figures squeezed out of the formation and darted towards me. One with brown hair, a white shirt, and a yellow skirt, and another with blonde hair and a turquoise dress. My mom and dad stepped out of the way as they held my hands.
"Mendy are you ok?!" the blonde one said in a panic
"We were so worried about you," the brown-haired girl said
"Stop touching me!" I shouted in a panic "Who are you?!"
The yell brought over a blanket of silence that covered the room.
"Mendez, i-i-its me Luan," the girl with the skirt said
"A-and me, remember I'm Leni," The other one said holding my hand

"Who?" I asked
"Hmm, seems that the head trauma was more severe than I originally thought," I heard the... d...d… doctor says
"What do you mean?" I heard the boy with white hair said
The doctor walked up to me and kneeled to my level.
"What is this?" He asked as he pulled out his cell phone
"That's a phone," I replied
"Ok and this?" He said as he pointed to a table
"That's a desk," I said back
"What are these?" he said as he pointed to some weird round, a red ball with a stem on it
"That's an apple," I said back
"Who are they?" he said as he pointed at my little sister and parker
"That's my little sis and Parker," I replied
"Ok… who are they," He said as he pointed at the large group of strangers
I stared at them with blank eyes. I saw on their faces were emotion of anticipation. I stared with a dumbfounded mindset as I scoured my files for the names of them.
"I… I don't know," replied
"H-how do you not know?!" I heard a girl in a pink dress and a tiara says
"I believe what the doctor is trying to say is that currently, Emmet Mendez is suffering from memory loss. He seems to have forgotten about every one of us but there is still a chance that they might come back," the small brown-haired girl with glasses says "But it would need something to jock his memory back in place. Like a keyword or a certain sequence of events."
There was a gasp heard from around the room and the 2 girls faced me.
"Tell me that she's lying," the blonde one said
"This is not funny Mendez," the other one said "You have to remember,"
"R-remember what?" I questioned
"T-that were your girl…" the brown-haired girl looks at the crowd then back at me "your best friends…"
"Yeah!" the other one said, "I'm Leni remember, a-a-and she's Luan, then there's Lori who's driving here from fairway still, Luna, Lynn, Lucy, Lana, Lola, Lisa, and Lily."

"Leni? Luan? I don't know anyone like that," I replied
The doctor walked to me and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"What is the last thing you remember?" He said
"Well, I remember leaving RMA and driving to our new home. I was unloading the stuff from the trunk but suddenly I fell down the stairs when a voice called out and I tried to look who it was." I replied
"Y-yes! That was us!" Luan said
"Really?" I replied
"Yes, we played Call of Duty together remember?" Lincoln said as looked at me
"N-no," I replied "I only play with Grant, Golan, Leroy, and Durneke,"
"Mendy please, you have to remember!" Leni said
"I-I'm sorry, I don't know who you are," I said
The room went silent and dim. I looked at the clock that ticked like time stoped… 20:30.
"I'm sorry Ms. you have to leave. Visiting hours are over." The doctor said
My mom looked at me and hugged me as Luan and Leni stepped back with tears in their eyes.
"Baby, are you going to be ok?" My mom asked
"Yeah, I can be fine, I'm just hungry," I replied
"Ok sweety, I'll see you Friday," My mom said
"What? Why not tomorrow?" I asked
"I have Jury Duty to get the criminal arrested that… never mind."
"Oh… ok" I replied "Bye Mom, bye Dad, bye sis, bye Parker."
"Bye," my family said as they walked out the door "We'll miss you."
I looked at the other family and I gave an awkward wave at them.
"Uhh… Bye Leni, Luan, and the rest of ya… can't remember your names" I said
With tears in her eyes, Leni turned and ran out of the room with her cries being heard. Luan was struggling to keep in the waterworks and turned and followed Leni. The rest looked at me and sighed in defeat and turned away. But the boy looked back and stared at me and I looked dead at him in return. He looked away and sadly shuffled away.
"So while you're here, the TV is working if you want to watch something." The doctor said
"Ok, thanks," I replied "Hope to see you soon doc,"
"No problem," He replied as he closed the door behind him
I lay down in my bed and I felt something nudging me in my head. I couldn't put my finger on it but the ringing soon returned. I rolled in my bed as much as the rotation of the earth as I began to ache. I began to breathe heavily and stopped rolling.
"Ahhhhh! Fuck it!" I yelled to myself
I grabbed the remote and turned on the TV and flipped through the channels. I stopped at one that caught my eye. I remembered the movie and it was the first movie I watched at RMA that made me want to commit to military life.
