Hello beautiful people!
I hope you'll forgive me for what's probably been my longest gap between updating so far. Once again I've been incredibly busy. This chapter was actually meant to be a lot longer but I've had this part finished for a while now and haven't yet had chance to visit the other part, so I decided to split into two to give you guys a little something to tide you over. Because of me splitting it, it's not a chapter with massive substance, but it spells the end of their first couple of nights moved in together, and in the next chapter we'll start a fresh and move on to celebrating Santana's birthday. I actually have the full story planned out in terms of where it's going, how many chapters etc., it's just finding the time to write. But the updates will always come, so thank you for sticking with x
Mila fell asleep pretty early that night, tired from her late night the night before, which left Brittany, Santana and Quinn chatting until dusk. Quinn sat on the arm chair, observing her friends with a smile, as a tired looking Santana rested her head on Brittany's shoulder. They had told her everything about Brittany's move here; and Quinn couldn't be happier for the loved up couple. As Quinn finished her second cup of juice, Brittany stood up to refill the glass, having slotted right in with being the perfect host in her new home.
"Are you sure I can't tempt you with something a little stronger, Quinn?" Brittany asked lightly, before breezing into the kitchen and observing their cabinet "We have wine, gin, vodka…I know San keeps tequila in the cupboard but it's a Monday so I'm guessing that's off the cards."
Santana flashed Quinn an apologetic smile, but Quinn shook her head, signalling for her not to worry. She had this.
"Just a water is good actually Brit" she called through "There's actually something I need to talk to you about."
Santana heard the faucet turn on and she turned to Quinn before her girlfriend returned.
"You don't have to tell her if you don't want to…"
The last thing Santana wanted was for Quinn to feel pressured to tell Brittany, just because she was Santana's partner, at a stage where Quinn wasn't even sure what she wanted to do.
"No, I want to. You're my best friend Santana, but Brittany is my friend too, and I'm sure we're only going to get even closer now she's living here. I trust her and…besides, another pair of ears can always he helpful."
Santana simply smiled, just in time for Brittany to return with the water, a curious look crossing her face as she looked between Quinn and Santana.
"Is everything okay?"
Quinn took a deep breath as Brittany sat down, as she relayed what she had earlier told Santana, to Brittany. Saying it out loud for the second time made it feel even more real, and she found herself getting a little teary again.
"Oh Quinn, can I give you a hug?" Brittany asked softly, as soon as Quinn had finished talking.
Quinn nodded appreciatively as she stood up to accept Brittany's hug, and Santana simply smiled as she observed how tender and caring her girlfriend was with her best friend, she always knew the best ways to comfort people. Santana knew that more than anyone.
Brittany waited until Quinn felt ready to let go and pull away from the much needed hug, before leading her over to the couch, seating her between herself and Santana. As Santana rested her head upon Quinn's shoulder, Brittany stroked up and down her arm, the two of them providing some much needed comfort and armour for Quinn.
"It's Finn's 30th birthday today. We were supposed to have dinner, but I cancelled on him, told him I felt sick. I just couldn't face him after I found out. I'm a terrible girlfriend."
Brittany and Santana exchanged a look. Of course it was Finn's birthday today, his birthday was 3 days before Santana's, how could they forget after he threw the 18th birthday party of the year?
"You're not a terrible girlfriend, Q. I'm sure he would completely understand, when he finds out the truth." said Santana.
"I know. I'm going to tell him, I know that I need to. I'm just scared about how he's going to react."
"Do you think Finn loves you?" Brittany asked encouragingly, already knowing what the answer was. She had seen the two of them with her own eyes, and it was obvious how Finn felt about Quinn, even if they had only been together a short time.
"He hasn't said the words yet but…I think he does, yeah." Quinn admitted bashfully.
"Well, I know that he does. I can see it in his eyes, in the way he looks at you. And let me tell you something that I know from experience" Brittany continued, momentarily glancing over to meet Santana's curious, love-filled eyes, "Knowing the person you love is carrying a baby is the most special feeling in the world. It will be the best gift he could wish for."
Quinn paused thoughtfully, as she mulled over Brittany's words.
"But you…" she scrunched her face up in confusion before looking between them both "Wait…Santana, are you…"
Quickly realising how Quinn had taken her statement, Brittany rushed in to correct her.
"No, no, no, no. Santana isn't pregnant. I'm sorry- I guess I worded that kind of badly! I was talking about Mila. I know that I didn't know Santana was pregnant, but the instant love I felt when I met little Moo, will be how Finn feels when you tell him you're carrying his baby. And I know Mila isn't my baby, but she is good as is to me. Because I can almost guarantee that when Finn pictures a baby with you, he's going to be picturing a mini Quinn, all blonde hair and big green eyes and class. Because when you love someone, having them in a mini version, is the most amazing thing. That's what I can say from experience. So don't be scared to tell him this, because I promise you, it will be one of the best moments of his life when he hears this from you."
"I really hope so…thank you, Brit."
"On the other side of that, if you don't want to keep this baby, it all comes back to Finn's love for you. I think he loves you so much, that he'll do anything to see you happy, and he'll support you in whatever you want to do. That's just what we do for the people we love."
Quinn nodded, as she took in Brittany's words, Santana on the other side of her squeezing her hand.
"It's going to be okay, Quinn. Whatever choice you make, we'll be there for you, and you always have us."
"You guys really are the best, thank you." Quinn said earnestly. "I'll talk to Finn tomorrow, I think I'll feel better when I've done that."
"If you want to stay here tonight, you're more than welcome." Santana offered, but Quinn gently shook her head.
"I'll be okay. But thank you. Thank you both of you."
After seeing Quinn out, Santana flopped back on the couch, tiredness once again washing over.
"Tired baby?" Brittany asked, sensing it straight away, as Santana simply nodded. "I'll go and tidy up."
But as Brittany began to walk towards the kitchen to clear everything away, she felt Santana's hand in hers, stopping her. She turned back, and greeted her sleepy looking girlfriend with a warm smile.
"What you said to Quinn was so sweet Brit, I think you really helped her, you know?" said Santana, gently squeezing the blonde's hand.
"I hope so. I just don't want her to feel alone. I want her to know she has options. I just hope I wasn't pushing her too much into keeping the baby. If she doesn't want to, we'll support her 100%, but I know what it's like to lose a child. It eats you up every day and I don't think she'll ever stop thinking about it. I just…"
Brittany paused for a second to swallow her emotion, as Santana leaned forwards to place a soft peck on the lips, hoping to calm her.
"I know, baby" she said understandingly, stroking her thumb over Brittany's hands until she composed herself, before continuing "But Quinn's smart. She knows what she's doing. We've just got to trust her on that, and then help her with whatever she chooses."
"We'll be there for her, no matter what." Brittany nodded adamantly.
"Of course we will." Santana echoed, as Brittany tucked herself into Santana's shoulder, Santana dropping a kiss on top of her head.
Usually it was the other way around, with Santana being the little spoon, but Brittany was evidently feeling vulnerable and needed to be held.
"I just wish I could have been there for you, when you were in this situation. You must have been so scared, San."
"I wish you could have been there too, but it was years ago now, and you've been there for me ever since Mila was born. I don't know how I would have done this past 11 years without you."
Brittany tilted her head up to look at Santana as she continued, as Santana began to stroke through blonde hair soothingly.
"And what you said about her and the love you felt for her, I know you've said it before but…it always makes my heart burst every time you say it because, she couldn't ask for a better second parent than you, sweetheart. Calvin, Puck, Dani…she's had all these different people in her life, and I'm glad she's never going to be lonely as she goes through her teenage years, but none of them have ever been parental figures. None of them have been as consistent and loving as you, Brit. You've been there for every small milestone and every big problem, and you've supported us financially whether it be with the house or even before we were together when you took us on vacation. You helped me make her childhood a happy one, and the more I watch her grow up, the more I realise that so much of her is you. I know she feels the same way about you as you do about her, and you say she's as good as your baby, so I'm saying you're as good as her other mom. She's as much a part of me as she is you, and I used to wish she was biologically yours, even though it's not physically possible. Now I realise, that doesn't even matter, because she was born in your heart."
Brittany sniffed as a few stray tears fell from her eyes as Santana's honest and touching words.
"Oh San…" was just about all she could muster out, before crashing their lips together.
The kiss was passionate, heated and desperate, the type that caused them both to pant heavily when they finally pulled away. Santana could tell that Brittany was aroused, because the tip of her ears were red.
"Take me to bed, baby" she whispered huskily, through hooded eyes.
"I thought you were tired?" Brittany teased, a mischievous glint appearing in her own eyes.
"Well you'd better hurry up and take advantage of this sudden burst of stamina while it lasts."
With that, Brittany picked Santana up, holding her firmly under her thighs as the Latina let out a giggle. Brittany shushed her as she carried her up the stairs towards their bedroom.
"Be quiet San, the last thing we wanna do is work our girl up."
And luckily for them, Mila didn't stir, allowing them to make quiet love to each other before falling asleep contently in each other's arms.
