Upstead (First Kiss)

Chapter 15

Hello guys! I want to start off by thanking everyone who wrote a review, I was happy to receive them all. Now, I am back with the next chapter and I am warning you that this chapter is going to be emotional and even painful in some ways. Many of you might hate me for doing what I have done but as far as the story is concerned, these things are needed and hopefully they will enrich the story as a whole. I do hope you enjoy! :)

"What?" Hailey asked, genuinely surprised. She had not expected this.

"Yes, I want you to move in with me," Jay said, confident now since the conversation had started.

"Jay…Why are you doing this?" Hailey asked, knowing the answer already.

"Hailey, what do you mean?" Jay asked a little hurt by her reaction.

This was turning out be worse than Hailey thought. She didn't think her reply would hurt him in this manner. Jay was genuinely wondering why she asked such a question. She thought of handling it before it got out of hand, "Jay, don't you think we are rushing into everything?"

Jay looked at her, disappointment clear on his face. He managed nonetheless, "Hailey, I thought this would make you happy."

She answered immediately, "Jay, it does make me happy but I don't want to rush into everything because of the wrong reasons."

Jay was frustrated now, "What do you mean?"

At that moment Hailey understood that he really had no idea what was on her mind. Seeing the innocence in his request, she now realised it would be all the more difficult to deny this offer. She would love to live with him but not under these circumstances anyway. Jay saw she was not replying so he got up and went into the living room, forgetting about dinner. She followed him and held him from behind, not letting him move further but also needing this contact for herself. Jay was not thrilled by this, he was still upset that she had reacted in such a flat manner. Finally, she spoke from behind, "Jay, it isn't like I don't want to move in with you, but"—

He turned suddenly and was facing her now, "But what Hailey? There is no but in this. You either want to or you don't. It's as simple as that," he finished louder than usual.

Hailey was taken aback by Jay's sudden aggressiveness but she tried to explain herself nonetheless, "Jay, listen to me."

But no, Jay was not going to listen to her anymore, he had been bottling up too many things since the past few days and now they were all emerging. He crossed his arms across his chest and spoke, "Look Hailey, you don't have to let me down easy. You can just tell me you don't want to live with me. You can tell me I am not good enough."

The last sentence had a piercing effect on Hailey and she was slightly angered right now. Jay was taking this personally, and she couldn't even explain to him that this wasn't about him. But she tried again, pushing aside all her anger and worries, "Jay, please listen to me."

He was still standing erect not bothered by her words but he didn't move away either. Hailey took the opportunity and approached him placing her hands on his shoulders, wanting to make sure he wouldn't escape again. She started softly, "Jay, since Abby's arrival you have tried to do all kinds of things to prove to me that you don't care about her but me. But moving in is a huge thing and it has to be thought out properly. I don't want to move in with you because we are threatened by Abby's presence, I want to move in with you because we love each other and can't live otherwise."

At these words Jay was utterly speechless because he wasn't thinking on these lines at all. He simply wanted Hailey to move in, but as Hailey uttered these words he realised his hidden motive. He was afraid of the damage Abby could cause, he was aware of his own uncertain state and he was terrified to lose Hailey. Hence the rush and urgency in asking her to move in with him. Hailey observed the sudden change in him and said softly, "This is what I wanted to tell you, but you just were not ready to listen to me."

Jay sighed in pain, this was a nightmare. He had reached a point where he couldn't think straight. He collapsed on the couch and started rubbing his head. He didn't know what he was going to do next, but the pain and disappointment were evident on his face. He finally managed, almost in tears, "Hailey, I didn't even realise I was thinking like that."

Hailey was by his side now and she knew this was as difficult for him as it was for her. As much as they loved each other and trusted each other, there was still something between them that wasn't transparent, there was an invisible line, but its presence was known to both. Hailey finally assured him, "Jay, I don't blame you at all. I completely understand your situation but I am just not sure if this is the right move."

Suddenly Jay turned, facing her completely. He asked, "Do you trust me?"

Hailey was slightly surprised, but she said, "Of course I do Jay."

"Then if I say that I am asking you to move in with me because I want you to, will you believe me? Will you believe me if I say this has nothing to do with Abby?"

Now Hailey was confused, a moment ago he had confessed to not knowing that he was thinking on those lines and now he said it had nothing to do with Abby. Hailey asked him, genuinely concerned about his mental state now, "What are you saying Jay? You're really not making any sense. You should get some sleep."

"No, I am fine Hailey. I just need you to answer the question, please," he said, intently waiting for her to answer.

Hailey herself didn't know the answer to this question. She didn't know if she could believe him on this particular point. Then another thought traversed her mind, she wished to God Jay wasn't thinking on those lines but neither could she confirm by asking him. But she thought to herself it didn't matter, not today at least, she needed it and she was ready to go forward with it. Her mind had shut down now, all thoughts of Abby, all thoughts of moving in with him and all other thoughts were discarded, only a raw passion was burning inside her. She got up and took him by the hand making him follow her. Jay was confused for the most part of it until he saw her take him to her bedroom and shut the door. The implications of this seemed unreal to him but he was wrong today. There was a lust in Hailey's eyes that he had never seen before, and that turned him on a little. She pushed him on the bed and sat on top of him pulling his T-shirt off. As she threw it aside she started kissing him all over the place. Jay was already panting by all the heat that was created within him. Finally she found his mouth and attacked it, knocking him backwards a little. Jay was not only turned on but he was positive he wasn't going to last long if she continued this. And that is when he decided to have some fun of his own and take control. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer, making her feel his erection and that earned him a low moan which in its turn only pushed him more over the edge. After ragged breaths he managed, "Hailey…"

But Hailey was not in the mood to listen to anything. She silenced him with her lips and reached for her T-shirt and yanked it off. Now Jay was fairly certain that she wanted this and he quickly undid her bra and threw it on the floor. The sight made him moan deeply, but the next moment itself he saw the marks he had seen so many nights ago. They were healing but he couldn't just let them heal on their own. He needed to touch her today, he needed to make sure she was alright and he needed to make sure she got what she wanted and deserved. He reached out and Hailey didn't deny him this time but revelled in his touch. She arched into his hands, she needed more and she needed it now. Hailey pushed him further on the bed now and he was lying down. She sat on him and was grinding against him causing them both to moan loudly and inching them closer to their release. Only their sweatpants and underpants blocked them from experiencing what they had wished to experience since years. Jay couldn't take it any longer so he got up and changed their positions. Hailey was under him now and he was pulling her pants off. Her pants had joined their clothes on the floor and Hailey was only in a thin panty now. Jay smiled slightly now, in awe and gratefulness that he was allowed to see this miracle with his own eyes. He moved forward with only one goal in mind. He grabbed her legs and pulled her closer to the edge of the bed. He started kissing the insides of her thighs and that was driving Hailey wild. Her legs were already shaking and Jay applied more pressure on them attempting to hold her still. Seeing her let go like this drove him crazy and he could feel his member twitch in his pants. He stopped kissing her there and moved up this time, kissing her stomach, lingering a moment longer on her navel and then assaulting her breasts. He wanted to be the opposite of Booth and he made sure she wasn't in pain or felt trapped. But Hailey seemed to enjoy this and she reached for his pants wanting to yank them off. Meanwhile, Jay was ravaging her mouth, his tongue in her mouth, swirling and fighting for dominance. The moment he saw Hailey reach her core he knew this was it, they were going to do it and there was no going back. On the other hand, Hailey realised in these heated and passionate moments that this was the invisible line, this was the line that was blocking them from opening up entirely to the other. By now Jay's pants were gone and his hands were on the sides of her underwear, ready to pull them off. He looked at her for a moment and she nodded only so slightly when both their phones rang. For a split second they were shaken but they realised that it was only their phones. But the fact that both their phones ran together suggested that it could be work-related and not a random call. And it being a coincidence was a rarity. Jay didn't know at the moment what to do, should be continue and finish off what they started or attend their calls?

Hailey was the one who spoke first, "Jay, we've got to see what it is."

Hesitatingly, Jay got off from her and went to grab their phones which were on the table in the corner. Since they had not picked up after several calls, messages too had been sent to them in the hope of them reading them and confirming. It had seemed absolutely impossible to go back from where they had reached but somehow they had to stop. They were both majorly turned on but work was work and it always came first. As they read the messages they didn't quite know what they were feeling. Was it terror, fear or a hidden relief?

Whatever it was, they had to rush to the scene immediately. They got dressed in a hurry, upset that they couldn't finish what they started. But Voight didn't care about all this and he expected them in fifteen minutes. Jay grabbed his truck keys and they exited her apartment locking it in a hurry. They would figure out the rest later, more like they were forced to figure out the rest later.

Well, we have reached the end of this emotional chapter. I don't know what more to say other than the next chapters will follow this storyline. There is a big thing that is going to come out of this and it is going to open new doors. I will be eagerly looking forward to your reviews. They are always encouraging and helpful. Thank you for sticking around. :)
