A moment later the Doctor looks at the monitor and says, "Here we are Valanos, it's the 41st century so what you're wearing is acceptable." Clara looks at her outfit, she's wearing black leggings, and long floral top and black flats. "Well go on step out into the light of the three moons of Valanos."
Clara says, "Hold on, didn't you say there are man-eating plants?"
The Doctor replies, "Yes, but they are grown on the outskirts of the city, we are in the city center. We'll see them and the purple sand beach tomorrow. Now go." Clara walks over to the door and steps out.
As she steps onto the sidewalk she notices the city is not too different from a normal city on Earth. Similar buildings, people rushing about, and the smell of food in the air. She looks up to the night sky and sure enough there are three visible moons. Two of them are similar to the size of the moon as viewed on Earth and the other is easily twice the size.
The TARDIS door closes and Clara feels the Doctor grab her hand. He doesn't usually do that but she doesn't say anything for fear that he'll pull away. He says, "It's just across the street." Clara looks across to see a little shop with a picture of an ice cream cone on the window. They walk across the street and into the shop.
There are a few people inside sitting down, eating their ice cream. There are two girls behind the counter. The taller one with lavender hair says, "Welcome to Dream Cream, we have 49 of 50 flavors available." She points to a menu board behind her. "We are currently out of Raspberry Lotus, sorry for the inconvenience. Whenever you are ready let me know."
Clara smiles at the girl and thanks her. She looks at the board. The selection is slightly overwhelming. The Doctor grins happily, "Clara they have all seven banana flavors here!" She giggles at him.
She looks back at the menu board and frowns, "Doctor they have eight."
He says, "I refuse to count that one. What idiot puts pears with bananas?"
After several minutes of debating the Doctor decides to get two scoops: one banana fudge and one banana hazelnut swirl. Clara gets two scoops as well. The first is called Quili Tracks, which looks similar to Moose Tracks on Earth, and at the Doctor's insistence her second flavor is strawberry banana. The Doctor hands over a credit stick to pay for their treats.
They sit at a small table near the door and have their ice cream. Clara says, "What is a Quili?"
The Doctor replies, "An animal that lives mostly in the northern part of this plant. It's fairly large, similar to a moose."
Clara is silent for a while. She watches the Doctor have his ice cream. "What you said on the TARDIS, the word she wouldn't translate. Was that Gallifreyan?"
The Doctor puts his spoon down and says, "Yes it was."
Clara asks, "What is it in English?"
He says, "It doesn't actually have an English equivalent. I can't really say what it means but I can show you."
Clara says, "Ok then." The Doctor scoots his chair next to hers and places his hands on her temples. She suddenly feels a feeling that she simply cannot find a word to describe, like and love do not give it justice. The Doctor removes his hands, Clara breaths, "Doctor."
The Doctor grins, "Save that for later love." He winks at her. They finish their ice cream and leave the shop.
Once back at the TARDIS, Clara walks in first. The Doctor steps in behind her and closes the door. He walks up behind her and puts his arms around her. He leans down and whispers, "You should know, it's been a very long time for me."
Clara says, "No complaints so far." He kisses her neck.
He says, "Why don't we see if the old girl will let us into your room?" She nods. The walk up the stairs and down the corridor to Clara's room. The doorknob has returned. Clara opens the door and they step in.
She says, "This isn't my room. It's the door, the approximate location it usually is but this is different." The room is larger. The bed is a canopy style queen size with a deep blue comforter. There is a comfortable chair in the corner with a stack of books next to it. There is a dresser next to that littered with prices of alien technology, a few more books, and a brown tie with blue swirls. She turns to face him, "This is your room isn't it?"
He replies, "Yes. We don't have to do anything tonight if you don't want to. I know you want to get some rest."
Clara rolls her eyes, "You daft old alien. I want you tonight and forever."
The Doctor's eyes darken with desire. He says, "I want you to tell me what to do."
She smiles mischievously, "So that's what you like." She pulls his head down to her and kisses his lips. The TARDIS hums happily as she dims the lights and closes the door.
