Cerise and Gemini: 11
Renee, Auggie, Jim, Kirk, and Georgie: 3
The restaurant closed a little early in the late afternoon and the family decided to go to a cafe for lunch. Gemini decided to join them along with her little brothers Jim, Kirk, and Georgie.
There was also a park nearby so the kids could play.
"Your it Cece…" Gemini called. Cerise then playfully chased her best friend around the playground. From going up the slide to going by the swings, she finally caught her best friend.
Then the wind started to slowly pick up and dark clouds started to form.
"I don't like this weather…" Auggie whimpered. Then Gemini tagged him.
"You're it, Auggie…" Gemini said.
"Catch me if you can…" Georgie called.
"I-I don't wanna play anymore…" Auggie whimpered getting more scared.
Then the wind began to tug at him, nearly blowing him away. The others rushed to him and Cerise luckily caught him.
Luckily, Alfredo and Colette rushed to the group of kids to check on their son
"Auguste, Are you okay…" Colette called, worried for her child
"I'm okay Mommy, the wind almost blew me away…" Auggie told his mother
"I'm glad that didn't happen…." Renee said.
"We're glad too…" Alfredo added
"I gotta go, Cece…" Gemini told Cerise. Cerise typed on her translator
Are you sure, you don't want a ride…
"This park is close to my neighborhood...We can make it home if we hurry...Come on, guys…"
"Bye Renee, Bye Auggie…" the triplet boys called
"Bye…" Auggie called
"See you at school…" Renee added.
Then a lightning strike went off in the sky followed by loud thunder.
Auggie yelped and buried himself in his sister's chest for comfort. Cerise rubbed his back and jumped a little.
"Shh...It's only thunder Auggie" Colette soothed.
"I uh...We should probably go before it gets worse…" Alfredo told his family
"Yep…"
When they got back to the apartment, Auggie stared out the window to watch the rain pour on his window sill and when thunder boomed again, Auggie shrieked and ran into his mother's arms
"Mama, Je n'aime pas les orages ils font peur" Auggie whimpered
"Je sais ma chérie ... Je sais…" Colette comforted him. Cerise tilted her head. She was still getting the French language since Colette taught the twins French. At least she can kind of translate to what they were saying but some of it was tough.
"He said, he doesn't like thunderstorms and they're scary…" Colette translated
Auggie turned to his twin sister. "Renata, why aren't you scared?" he asked
"HA...NO thunderstorm will scare me…" Renee gloated.
"Your lucky…" then Cerise had the idea to distract her brother from the storm.
Auggie...Maybe we could make dinner, ratatouille maybe… Cerise typed in her
translator
"S-Sure…" it made Auggie feel better. Ratatouille was one of his favorites.
Then Renee turned on the radio and listened to it. "They said that the thunderstorm isn't going to last until tomorrow morning…"
"Tomorrow morning…" Auggie whined.
"It's okay sweetie, We'll all be right here with you," his father said. Then two rats ran over to the couch and Alfredo placed them on Auggie and they nuzzled themselves on him, making him giggle.
Cerise walked from the kitchen to the couch where Auggie was sitting and wrapped her arms around him. Auggie smiled knowing that he wasn't alone.
Luckily the storm calmed down a little, giving poor Auggie a break. It started to rain lightly but the lightning was showing every now and then.
"Look, the storm is calming down…." Renee pointed out.
"Maybe the weather today was angry…" Auggie whimpered
Cerise felt bad for him, She knew what it was like to be scared of thunder. Back at her home, her father would brush off her fears and her mother would comfort her. Heck, a thunderstorm had led her to her adoptive parents and life anew awaited her.
"Can we make la ratatouille now?" Auggie asked.
"Sure we can...Cerise, do you wanna help me and Mon chef?" Colette asked.
Cerise nodded her head and joined her adoptive mother and little brother and companion to make a delicious dinner they could savor for the night.
When it was time for bed, the storm came back but this time it was a little worse.
Alfredo and Colette tucked in their twins to bed. Then thunder erupted, scaring Auggie. He tucked himself in further in bed as if to hide from the frightful storm outside.
"Can't I sleep with you guys tonight?" Auggie asked.
"Auguste, there's nothing to be afraid of...It's only a storm…" Colette said softly, stroking his brown curly hair.
Then Renee went upside down in her top bunk. "Yeah...and You got me and Cece…"
On cue, Cerise came into the room and saw that Auggie was still scared. She had an idea and raced to her room. She came back with a small pink, yellow, and white blanket and held it out to him.
"Wha-what's that?" Auggie asked.
"Cerise...Isn't that yours?" Alfredo questioned her. Cerise nodded her head
This blanket gave me comfort for a long while, so I thought it was a good idea for Auggie to use it for the night… She typed in her translator
"Isn't the color just for girls?" Renee asked. Cerise shook her head no
No, Renee, it doesn't have to be...I'm just letting him use it...You can use it too if you want
"No thank you…" Renee said, getting back into her bed.
"Anyway, Goodnight you guys…" Alfredo departed to his room
"Goodnight" the twins called back. Colette gave her twins and Cerise each a kiss on the cheek
"Goodnight mes enfants" Colette said before following after her husband.
"Goodnight" the twins replied while Cerise waved. Then it was Cerise's turn to leave.
If you need me, I'm next door….Goodnight you guys…" then Cerise turned the light really dim, knowing that Auggie was afraid of the dark.
As the night went on, so did the storm. Auggie was still awake, clutching onto the blanket that Cerise loaned him along with his teddy bear. All he could do was stare out of the window where the lightning flashed and thunder boomed. He whimpered and covered himself deeper
"Renee….Renee...Are you awake?" Auggie whispered. He got out of bed and crawled up the ladder to see his twin sister soundly asleep in her bed, clenched onto a doll
"Aww…" he whimpered
Meanwhile, Cerise was tossing and turning a bit in bed, trying to find a comfortable position and she tried to cover her head with a pillow, trying to ignore the storm outside but it was a failed attempt.
"Cece...Cece…" Cerise heard a faint little voice and woke up, rubbing her eyes. She scanned the room to see who called her
"Cece…" She looked down and saw that it was only her little brother, Auggie in his pajamas, with her blanket and his teddy bear clutched in his arms.
"Can-Can I sleep with you, I don't wanna be all alone…" he asked her
Cerise felt bad for him. Auggie reached for her like he was a baby and She took him in her arms and cradled him. When thunder struck once more, Auggie began to cry lightly, holding onto Cerise tightly.
Then Cerise began to rock him slowly back and forth. She gave him a gentle kiss on the forehead. She placed on her translator and typed something. Thankfully it was in low volume so she couldn't wake everyone up.
It's okay Auggie, I'm right here...I'm not going anywhere. Those words seemed to soothe him a little. She wished she could hum him a lullaby but she couldn't.
Where's Renee?
"She's asleep, She's braver than me…" Auggie mewled.
Don't feel bad, I'm sure she'll come here any minute.
Then on cue, Renee wandered into the room. Cerise had her hands on her hips
The big bad storm won't scare you huh? Cerise typed.
"I just had a nightmare…" Renee replied. Then when thunder struck, both children clung onto their sister.
Cerise had to think of a way to get her little siblings to sleep and better yet, have them brave the scary storm. Then something came across her mind
Would you guys like to make a pillow fort?
"Yeah yeah…" the twins silently, smiling ear to ear about the idea.
Here's what we're going to do...Both of you get some blankets and pillows and I'll get some chair and flashlights
"Okay…" The twins quietly raced off into their room and Cerise went downstairs to get some chairs. She picked up two and went past the rats who woke up to the sight of her.
Cerise dropped off both chairs and went back to get two more when a squeak stopped her. Remy and Avalon were perplexed as to why she took two chairs into her room.
Cerise pointed to the twins and typed on her translator. They couldn't sleep, so we're making a pillow fort, care to join us. The rats looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. Cerise extended out her arm and the rats ran on her arm and landed in her hair. She then got the last two chairs and arrived at the room.
After turning the chair opposite to each other the 3 kids began to get started on making the fort. After they finished, they were in awe.
"Wow…" Renee crawled in with her doll and smiled. "It looks beautiful"
Auggie went in after his sister with Cerise's blanket and his little bear and fell on his back
"I love it" He giggled. Then two flashlights were being rolled over to them and Cerise went in with the rats
"Let's tell stories…" Renee cheered
"No scary ones…" Auggie added
Cerise went first and told a story about adventurers finding lost treasure. Auggie went and told about ninjas rescuing a princess from an evil queen. Then Renee went last and told a story about a fairy queen
"And with her magic powers, she destroys the curse, frees everyone in the forest and everyone gets married…" Renee finished proudly.
Auggie gagged at the ending while Cerise gave a bewildered look while silently laughing.
"Can we play shadow puppets?" Auggie asked.
"Yeah.." Renee agreed.
Cerise handed them the flashlights and they turned them on. Some of the shadow puppets were easy to guess and some weren't and then the twins end up making silly faces at each other. Cerise pressed her cheeks together and crossed her eyes
"Good one Cece…" Renee pointed out, while Auggie giggled
"He-he-he, Little Chef, look at me," Auggie said. He pulled his right ear, crossed his eyes, and stuck out his tongue. Remy and his wife giggled at this
I think Mr. and Ms. Little Chef like your silly face," Cerise typed making her little brother giggle.
Then Renee started to yawn. "Cece, I'm sleepy…"
"I'm sleepy too…" Auggie added, yawning too.
Cerise too, gave a silent yawn. She allowed her siblings to cuddle close to her. She lied down and wrapped them in her arms and fell asleep. The storm luckily died down and the 3 children even forgot that there was one.
The next morning, Alfredo and Colette woke up to check on the children. Alfredo went into Cerise's room and found an adorable sight to see.
"Cheri...Look," Alfredo whispered. Colette joined him and found Cerise asleep cradling her sleeping little siblings and Remy and Avalon were tucked in Cerise's palm.
"Aww, Cerise…"
"I told you she would make a great big sister"
Then Cerise slowly woke up along with her siblings
"Good morning, Mommy and Daddy…" Auggie spoke drowsily
"I see three made a fort…" Colette said
"The rain stopped, wanna jump in rain puddles…" Alfredo added
The twins turned to each other and gasped. They raced into their room, being careful of Remy and Avalon. As Cerise walked out of the room and placed the rats on Remy's bed, She felt a hand on her shoulder
"Thanks for looking out for the twins, Cerise" Alfredo thanked his adoptive daughter. Cerise grinned at him and Colette
The twins raced out in their raincoats and rain boots and ran down the stairs.
"Come on Cece…" Auggie called out.
"Yeah, Join us, Cece…" Renee added.
Cerise smiled and ran up the stairs to get dressed. She ran down to join her little brother and sister in splashing in rain puddles in the bright and early morning.
