Chapter Three
"And then- there was one," he purred as he marked off the last two rangers. He slowly circled Tommy Oliver's face and grimaced. Tommy. Tommy would be the most difficult to go after. He would be the most difficult to find. He had gotten fairly far in to his plan before the rangers started to hide and by then- it had mostly been too late. The other rangers had let him in to their lives in one way or another. Every. Single. One. Except Tommy. He had never been able to infiltrate his mind.
His had been the long game. It had always been the long game. When the rangers first came back in to being- he had known that he could start weaving his way in to their minds. He had even managed to weave his way in to Zordon's mind prior to his demise. Tommy was different. Tommy was a once in a lifetime ranger that was not susceptible to him. Maybe it was because he began as an evil ranger. At any rate- he was the only ranger that he would have to reveal himself to long before he killed him. The other rangers only got a glimpse of him when he came to finish them.
He was almost the last of his kind. Thanks to the Power Rangers millennia ago. And he had managed to cling on to life- because of the hope that he would kill all of the rangers one day. Because of the hope that he would do to them what had been done to him and his kind. As much as they claimed that the Power Rangers were good and honorable- he knew otherwise. He knew that there was another side that no one would talk about.
There was the part of every ranger that became blood thirsty. The part of every ranger that longed for the battle and wanted to kill whatever monster was in front of them. The term 'monster' could even be much looser depending on the generation of rangers. In his time- rangers had also killed people. They crossed the lines and that was part of why they were disbanded. Zordon had not known that- he had been after those times. But others had known it. Others had known and they had let the rangers comes back. They had let this group reform and he was going to stop that.
It had taken him fifteen years to have his first success- far longer than he had imagined it would take. These rangers were strong. These rangers were like the first rangers- the rangers of old. They had morals. They were difficult to infiltrate. But, over time, the rangers changed and they became just as bloodthirsty as the rangers of old. That change allowed him in. It allowed him to begin his work again. And this time- he would finish it. This time- the rangers would be gone from this world, and all worlds, for good.
"The Command Center shows two beings," his helper piped up and he looked over at the screen in confusion. Two beings? His research did not suggest that Oliver had a wife or a family. It did not suggest much of anything in his personal life that would indicate someone that he was close enough to, to protect. The Command Center was the one place that he could not enter and he had hoped to get to Tommy before he realized that this was where he needed to bunker down. Him being at the Command Center made this harder. Him not being alone- meant that he had miscalculated something, somewhere.
"Well- what secrets do you keep, Mr. Oliver?" Atlantis murmured as he watched the two, distinct, dots move further in to the Command Center. He had known defeating Tommy would be difficult- but this revelation might make it impossible.
