CHAPTER TWO
Plan decided/a new home?
To say Sakura was confused at this very moment would be an understatement. 'What does he mean, what's The Shinobi World, Is he screwing with me?' An awkward silence invades the moment as they stare at each other. "Okay." Says Sakura as she takes a deep breath before continuing.
"You say you've never heard of Konohagukre no Sato or Hi No Kuni or Kami even The Shinobi World. If that's true then were exactly are you saying that you're from Belphegor-San?"
Nodding his head seemingly digesting her question quickly, Belphegor responds. "Well I'm glad that you asked Sakura-Chan, because I live in a little country called Italy. And since I've never heard of this Hi No Kuni that means Italy's definitely a much bigger country!"
Sakura's eyebrows furrow in confusion and consternation at what Belphegor's just finished telling her. If it wasn't for how genuinely confused and concerned Belphegor sounded she'd be sure that this was a joke. "And if not the shinobi one than in what world exactly does this Italy reside in?"
At this latest question Belphegor crossed his arms annoyedly leaning forward mockingly. "Gee pinky I don't know ahhh The World! I don't know what you want me to say. In what world? Planet Earth I Guess!?" Despite Belphegor's rudeness towards her Sakura couldn't help but start laughing.
"Well at the very least we can both say that we live on Planet Earth because I'm not sure if I could take that much crazy." After she said this Belphegor let out a chuckle clearly agreeing with the sentiment.
'I don't think he's lying. So what possibility does that leave us with? He could be from outside of the known continent. But if so then how did he get here?' Sakura's thought process is interrupted when Belphegor claps his hands in her face.
"Hey! Sakura-Chan I get that this is confusing but I don't think that keeping your thoughts to yourself is really that helpful."
"Oh I'm sorry Belphegor-San you're right. If you've never heard of Hi No Kuni than how the hell did you get here?"
Belphegor let ot a nervous sound once again rubbing the back of his head. "I'll tell you Sakura-Chan however it's pretty hard to believe. You see I was in the middle of a late training session when-" Belphegor gives a dramatic pause raising his right pointer finger to build tension.
Sakura despite herself leans forward slightly in suspense. "BAMN! A giant blue portal opened up in midair purple lightning shooting everywhere." As Belphegor mentions the purple lightning he makes exaggerated movements with his arms mimicking the lightning's trajectory.
"Then despite my best efforts to escape, the portal's vortex sucked me in. Poor little me torn from my home and sent to a strange new location." With his flamboyant explanation complete Belphegor drops his arms to the side and lets out a relieved breath.
'He arrived here through some kind of a portal, The Hell?! I'm not sure how I even respond to that.'
"Ok look. Belphegor-San I'm afraid I have no idea how you can get back to this 'Italy.' And I don't think anyone I know can help you either." Sakura explains the somewhat obvious truth of Belphegor's situation.
'Of course not. That portal didn't just send me far away or to a different time like that cow brat's bazooka. It sent me to a whole other dimension or some shit like that.
From my understanding of the events that happened in the future. Byakuran possesses the ability to commune with different versions of himself across dimensions. But I'm willing to bet he never experienced something like this.'
Belphegor is brought back to the moment when Sakura's next words interrupt his contemplation. "I'm still having a hard time believing this but I don't think that you're lying Belphegor-San." Sakura takes a breath clearly unsure about what she's gonna say but ultimately deciding to say it.
"So you're more than welcome to accompany me back to Konoha. Like I said earlier I don't think anyone there can get you home. But they'll be more than willing to take care of you as long as you prove yourself trustworthy." Belphegor's signature grin replaces his confused visage at Sakura's statement.
'Me trustworthy? Now that's certainly an interesting thought.' Raising his right hand to his chin Belphegor contemplates Sakura's offer. 'I'd very much like like to go back home but I haven't the slightest clue how or if it's even possible.'
Refocusing his attention back on Sakura Belphegor is surprised to find genuine concern of all things on her face. 'She just met me why does she care?' Coming to a decision Belphegor stretches his arms above his head before placing his hands on the back of his head.
"Alright Sakura-Chan lead on, I don't have any better options. So I'll accompany you to this 'Konoha' place though I can't promise I won't leave if it blows there." Sakura smiled seemingly relieved by his answer another mystery for Belphegor to decipher.
"Okay then Belphegor-San just let me finish up here then we'll be on our way." Sakura explains before making her way towards the lifeless body of the bandit leader. Belphegor's eyes closely follow Sakura's form as she walks away from him. 'I don't know what this Konoha place is like but feel like as long I stay around Sakura-Chanthings won't be boring.'
After a little more than a bit of walking since she had sent him flaing pretty far Sakura comes to a stop over the body of the man she fought against some minutes ago. Squatting down next to the body Sakura begins searching for the scroll she believes to be on it's person.
After patting a few pockets she finds it reaching into a pocket she pulls out the scroll. It's a white scroll, on one edge of it is colored red and the other is colored blue. When you take a closer look at the red edge you can make out a fire element to the design and on the blue edge a water element.
On the base of the scroll 'The Elements Of Healing' is written in Kanji. Following her brief examination of the scroll's appearance Sakura looked up and saw Belphegor's feet. It was at this moment Sakura fully took stock of Belphegor's foot wear, tall white boots with black laces. 'What odd foot wear for a shinobi, but now that I think about it he did say he wasn't a shinobi... Huh Interesting!'
"Find what you're locking for?" Belphegor's voice which is so often laced with mocking came through this time without it. "Yup, excuse me for a minute Belphegor I have to check the contents of this scroll, it shouldn't take too long" Sakura tells Belphegor before moving a distance from the deceased body and finding an untouched tree to sit against.
"Okaay then... can you at least tell me why we're reading it now instead of later?" The question is an innocent one and it still bemused Sakura that the brutal and efficent killing machine she watched fight earlier could ever come across as innocent. 'But then again I don't think innocent is the right word for it. It's more like he's unburdened by the things around him.'
"Because Belphegor-San depending on what's written inside this scroll we may have to make a quick stop before we head to Konoha." Sakura explains as she begins to unfurl the scroll and read it. Belphegor sighs climbing on top of the tree that the bandit leader's body had crashed into.
Getting nice and comfortable atop the topped over tree Belphegor lays down with his head laid atop of his hands. "Alright Sakura-Chan while you read your scroll thingie I'm gonna take a little nap like I said earlie I haven't slept yet." Sakura dosen't respond too engrossed in her reading, a fact that causes Belphegor to scoffs.
'There is some incredible stuff here Shishiou's suspicions about this scroll were right.' Were among the many thoughts traveling through Sakura's mind as she reads the scroll. "Okay Belphegor-San I finished reading so we can head out now." Sakura announces as she rises to her feet rolling up the scroll placing it in her pouch.
Her announcement was greeted with silence confusing her so she looks around only to find Belphegor passed out on top of the topped over tree. 'Did he seriously take a nap?... Coulda at least said something.'
Heading over to get a closer look, the medic in her took over so she checked his breathing but of course it was normal. As her eyes followed his chest's breathing she notices a unique looking medallion hanging from around his neck. 'I wonder what the X on it represents.'
Deciding it's past time Belphegor does so Sakura makes to wake him up. Instead of lightly shaking him awake however Sakura brings her left foot back before 'lightly' kicking the tree causing it to shake. The entirety of his 'bed' shaking results in Belphegor falling of the side and crashing to the ground.
'What the fuck just happened?'
Were the unfortunate first thoughts Belphegor as he woke up upon the ground 'I coulda sworn I was laying atop bark not grass.'
Belphegor's drowsy contemplation was disturbed when Sakura's smirking visage obscured his view of the sky. 'Oh so that's what happened... Great!' With a groan Belphegor slowly made his way to his feet.
"Rise And Shine My Prince!" The combination of mocking and amusement in Sakura's voice irked Belphegor something fierce. "Oi listen Sakura-Chan you get only one of those! Consider this a royal decree, the next time you wake me up like that you'll regret it" Belphegor exclaims vigorously pointing at Sakura with his left hand.
As if Belphegor's threatening undertone went completely over her head Sakura smirks turning away from him tauntingly. 'How dare she ignore me I am royalty damnit!' Belphegor growls as Sakura walks away from him in silence.
Belphegor throws his arms to his sides clenching his knuckles in frustration. "You coming Belphegor-San... or did you change your mind about coming back to Konoha with me?"
'I should change my mind I don't need to take this from you!' Instead of saying his thoughts outloud Belphegor shakes his head and follows after Sakura.
Three hours have passed since Sakura and Belphegor began their journey to Konoha. Their three hours of travel so far have been filled with Sakura and Belphegor discussing the new world that Belphegor finds himself in. In between the back and forth of questions and answers, Belphegor would make a snarky comment about his world's supposed superiority.
"You mean to say your world possesses a device that allows long range communication like a radio but it can communicate across the entie planet!?" Sakura questions incredulously. "Absolutely in fact I got one of them right here." Belphegor reveals as he shows Sakura his smartphone. The arrogance and superiority that Belphegor exudes following this reveal leaves Sakura nauseated.
"What's got you so pleased? I highly doubt that you did anything at all to contribute to that technological achievement!" Sakura smartly remarks on Belphegor's high and mighty demeanor. Sakura's insult causes Belphegor visibly to stumble.
"What is the matter with you I am a prince do you not get that? How dare you use that tone when speaking to royalty!" Belphegor's comeback is laden with embarrassment instead of the annoyance that his words imply. Following his retort Sakura smirks in satisfaction to which Belphegor responds by throwing his hands up and scratching his head in frustration.
As she was stood to his right Belphegor's motion causes Sakura's eyes to be drawn towards his right hand. Specifically the ornate ring around his middle finger, it was mostly silver in the shape of a shield, in the middle of the ring was a shield shaped black gem with a red lion design emblazoned on it.
There was a silver strip with an unfamiliar script over the gem. "What does that script say? On the base of your ring I mean." Belphegor glances down at his right hand in surprise momentarily forgetting his embarrassment.
"Oh it saysVaria that's the name of the organization I work for." With her curiosity sated Sakura resumes her teasing mindset. "Oh you're really not much of a Prince then if you need to work for an organization in order to make a living."
"WHAA... Sakura-Chan but, Why?" Belphegor squawks out in response to the sudden insult. Sakura giggles at his reaction thoroughly enjoying teasing Belphegor about his supposed royalty. 'Seriously though it's pretty funny that with that tiara, the necklace and the flashy ring Belphegor wears more jewelry than most the women I know.'
'Grrrr I don't understand why I'm getting so embarrassed usually when someone insults my royalty I'm overcome with anger but not with her, why?"
Belphegor usually likes to take things at a leisurely pace but in an unusual move for him he speeds up and ahead of Sakura. If anyone correctly pointed out that he was running away from Sakura in embarrassment he would surely kill them for their insolence.
"Ah, Belphegor is something wrong? You're speeding up if you're ahead of me I can't exactly guide you to Konoha." The satisfaction in her voice let him know that Sakura knew exactly why he was speeding up which only made Belphegor's cheeks burn brighter.
They travel for another three hours only this time in silence due to Belphegor's stubbornness. 'This is getting kinda ridiculous its was just some light teasing he ought to get over himself.' The frustration that been building up in her because of Belphegor's childishness left Sakura's mind the second she saw the familiar silhouette of Konoha nearing them.
"Belphegor-San you need to slow down so I can get you through the front gate." Sakura felt concern when Belphegor didn't immediately slow down following her call, but ultimately he did allowing Sakura to take her place in front. "Alright Belphegor-San you don't have any identification in this world so I'm gonna need you on your best behavior."
Belphegor seemingly having recovered from his earlier embarrassment quipped. "My behavior is always that of the royal level Sakura-Chan you know that!" Having learned her lesson from earlier Sakura simply rolled her eyes and smirked.
Approaching the village it's rather impressive towering green gates became clearly visible. Clear red Kanji was written on the gates, preparing to enter the village they were stopped by a pair of voices familiar to Sakura.
"Hey Sakura-San Welcome Back!" Came the cheerful voice of Izumo causing Sakura to turn her attention towards him taking in his features. Izumo was a fair looking man with black eyes and chin length dark brown hair that had the right half of it's pulled over his right eye. Instead of the usual headband he wore his Konohagukre forehead protector on his blue bandana.
"Who's the stranger Sakura-San?" Came the more reserved but still very welcoming and friendly voice of Kotetsu. As opposed to his partners fair looking face Kotetsu's face was much more scruffy. Kotetsu possesses shoulder length black hair spiked out in a gravity defying hair style and on his chin was a black goatee.
His eyes were sharp and they matched the color of his hair. Perhaps his most identifying feature was the medical bandage wrapped around his face and over his nose. Unlike Izumo, Kotetsu wore the standard issue Konoha headband forehead protector. Both Izumo and Kotetsu wore the standard gear of Konoha shinobi being a the multi pouched green chunin vest worn over a dark blue jumpsuit.
Izumo and Kotetsu weren't just partners in manning the village gate they were best friends as Sakura's pretty sure she's never seen one without the other. In fact Ino pondered to Sakura once or twice about whether or not they're more than simply friends.
"Izumo-San, Kotetsu-San allow me to introduce you to my new friend Belphegor, he doesn't have anywhere to go so I thought I'd talk to Hokage-Sama about letting him stay in Konoha."
Belphegor heard the introduction but he was too busy taking in Konoha to respond. From the massive towering gates to the bustling crowd of people that Belphegor can see further in, the street lights and the many shops Belphegor has a hard time understanding how anyone could call this place a village.
'I don't think Sakura-Chan has ever been to a village before cause this is definitely a city.' Belphegor smirks to himself at that thought before he's brought out of his inner monologue by a sharp pain on his right foot. Looking down at his foot Belphegor is none too surprised to see Sakura's left foot atop his right one.
Looking up from his foot towards Sakura Belphegor is greeted with the expression of a polite smile hiding a terrifying threat. "Maybe you should be saying hello Belphegor-San?" Eyes widening behind his bangs Belphegor once again feels the formerly foreign but quickly becoming familiar emotion of embarrassment.
"Oh of course, just as Sakura-Chan told you my Name is Belphegor I'm pleased to meet you guys." Luckily for Belphegor they didn't seem offended, the last thing Belphegor wanted to experience was Sakura after he had just offended some of her friends.
"Ah Belphegor-San it's a pleasure, as you might've heard Sakura mention my names Izumo and this is my partner Kotetsu.'' Izumo greets Belphegor motioning to Kotetsu with his right hand friendliness seeping from his pores.
Following his partner's lead Kotetsu greeted Belphegor next. "Welcome to our great village Belphegor-San, we just need to see some identification then you and Sakura-San can be on your way." Sakura interjected herself before Belphegor could respond.
"Belphegor-San actually doesn't currently posses any identification right now, but don't worry because I personally vouch for him." At that unusual assertion the gate guards turn to stare at each other uncertain about what to do.
They silently conferred amongst each other in that way only the closest of partners could. "Alright then Sakura we trust you however we must insist that you take him straight to Tsunade-Sama, take no detours."
Sakura nodded resolutely in the affirmative a serious expression on her face. "Of course that was my plan after all." Motioning for Belphegor to follow her she says farewell to the gate guards who return the sentiment.
Belphegor and Sakura quickly make their way through Konoha towards the Hokage Tower. The only time they stopped was once to allow Belphegor to take in the incredible sight of Hokage Rock. Belphegor took the time to admire and contemplate the similarities between it and America's Mount Rushmore.
While Sakura took the time to feel proud that her home's landmark possesses the power to leave people breathless like that. Only a few seconds after Belphegor finished taking in the landmark they made it to their destination.
"Alright Belphegor-San, I'm gonna go in first you stay out here until Tsunade-Sama calls for you." Sakura explains to Belphegor as they stand outside a door that he is told belongs to the leader of this village. 'From what Sakura has told me she really looks up to this Tsunade person. She must be a real special woman in order to both be named leader of a military force and to have someone like Sakura dmire her so much.'"Don't leave me out here waiting too long Sakura-Chan." Sakura waves him off before moving forward and knocking on the door. Following her knock a commanding voice of a woman came from the other side of the door. "Come In!" With a quick smile at Belphegor meant to reassure him she heads through the door leaving Belphegor alone with his thoughts.
With all the things that could be going through Belphegor's mind there's only one thought going through his mind. 'I wonder how Mammon's doing back home and if he even knows that I'm gone yet?'
End.
