Chapter NINETEEN

The Triwizard Tournament

One week after the arrival of the Beauxbatons and Durmstrang students and Headmasters, found them all sat in the great hall once more waiting in anticipation as they quickly ate their meals.

Harrison and the rest of the students who were to young, or had no interest in entering the tournament themselves, had watched in immense amusement as name after name was dropped into the goblet.

On one such occasion which had Harrison and his friends laughing hysterically at the end results, Fred and George Weasley had tried to cheat the system by taking an aging potion which had made them physically seventeen- of which they wouldn't actually turn for another three months- and step confidently over the aging line dropping their names into the goblet. It had appeared to have worked for a second or two, when suddenly, there was a loud bang and they were thrown out of the circle, landing on the floor near where Harrison and his friends conveniently stood, now supporting long, red beards and bushy eyebrows.

At the shocked looked on their twin faces, Harrison had absolutely lost it, laughing so hard he had to lean into Blaise for support. His reaction had set the others off, and soon the entire entrance hall was laughing at the outcome, the twins included.

Once the meal was done and the tables had been cleared of all dishes, Dumbledore stood to address the room once more.

"Students, and staff it is now time to reveal the three Triwizard champions. In a moment, the Goblet will spit out the first name…."

After he finished speaking everyone turned to the goblet -that had been brought in from the entrance hall and sat upon the dais in front of the staff table.

Suddenly the Goblets flame turned bright blue and grew double in size before shooting a singed scrap of parchment, which was immediately summoned by the standing headmaster.

"The first champion….from Beauxbatons is FLEUR DELACOUR!"

Th hall cheered as the Beautiful tall French student stood from where she sat at the end of the Ravenclaw table and made her way towards the head table. Harrison was amused when he noticed most of the male students' eyes cloud over and dopey grins set upon their lips as they watched her greet her Headmistress. After a quick congratulations from Madam Maxine, she was directed through the door behind the head table to await further instructions.

Once the door had been closed once more, those left in the great hall, turned their attention back to the goblet and waited with bated breath.

The second parchment shot out of the blue flames and once again summoned by Dumbledore.

"The Hogwarts champion…is CEDRIC DIGGORY!"

Loud cheers broke out, as the 6th year Hufflepuff stood up and made his way to the front before he too entered the room at the back of the head table.

Once the room had settled once more to watch as Dumbledore once caught a singed piece of parchment from the goblet.

"The final champion from Durmstrang is VICTOR KRUM!"

Victor stood, to cheers almost as loud as Cedric's had been, slowly making his way to join the other champions to wait for more instructions.

Smiling largely dumbledor turned back to the student body to address them once more.

"Yes congratulations, to all three champions. In a moment, the other Headmasters, judges, and I will make our way to where they are waiting and go over the first task with them. But for the rest of you…."

Suddenly he was interrupted as once more to the shock of everyone, the goblets fire turned blue and grew in size. It then spat out one last name. A fourth Champion.

Summoning the parchment, Dumbledore read it silently, his features turning angry, and he looked out across the room and finally read out the name.

"HARRY POTTER!"

Every eye turned to stare at the fourth year Ravenclaw, who just sat there looking up at the head table. Inside he was both shocked and seething, but he made sure to keep a calm mask on his face, never revealing a thing to all that watched him.

"Mr. Potter, come up here." Dumbledore demanded.

"No." it was said quietly. Harrison never bothered to raise his voice, as he knew everyone would be able to hear him just fine.

"NO?" The headmaster demanded sternly.

"No," Harrison reiterated before finally standing, but staying where he was, as he removed his wand from the holster on his right wrist. "I Harrison James Potter-Black herby swear on my magic that I did NOT enter my name into the goblet of fire, nor did I ask an older student to do so. So, mote it be!"

With the last word spoken, a rush of magic filled the room, before the 14-year-old turned and calmly waved his wand levitating the book he had brought to read during dinner into the air for all to see.

"I did not enter my name, there for I will not be participating." He told everyone firmly before sitting back down.

"Mr. Potter, your name has come out of the goblet, therefor you must compete!"

Sighing in irritation, Harrison pulled out his mirror from his pocket before calling his father's name.

"Pup, what's going on? Shouldn't you be at the Champion ceremony?" His dad asked concerned, making a hush fall over the room as they waited to see what would happen next.

"I'm still here," He told him. "My name came out of the goblet, and even though I have taken a vow on my magic stating that I never entered or had anyone else enter for me, the Headmaster is still insisting I compete."

"Excuse me?" Sirius growled out angrily.

"I've done my research on the tournament all week. It's a magical binding contract, the Goblet recognizes one's magic when they submit the parchment into the goblet. But since I never entered myself, it can't recognize and bind me, there for as my magical guardian you would need to either give or deny permission for me to compete." Harrison told him, making sure the room at large were aware of the entrance rules of the tournament.

"Absolutely not!... I Sirius Black do not give my son Harrison Permission to enter into the Triwizard Tournament, so mote it be."

With the verbal vow spoken in front of witnesses, even by way of Enchanted mirror, no one could contradict the fact the Harrison Potter-Black, would not be competing against the other champions.

Nodding his thanks, Harrison promised his dad that he would call him again later before putting the mirror away once more.

Standing from his seat, and grabbing his book, he looked towards the head table once more. "It might be important to notice that the Parchment says, 'Harry Potter' Sir. Everyone knows that I have never gone by that nickname, and since even before I was 11 years old and Sirius adopted me, my last name has and always will be hyphenated. If I, were you, I would look into exactly who and why someone wanted me competing in the tournament."

With that Harrison walked out of the great hall, and made his way back to his common room, intending to get some studying in before calling his father back as promised.

While he was walking the halls, back inside the great hall, whispers had broken out amongst the student body. Everyone wondering who could have tried to enter Harrison into the competition and why.

Dumbledore on the other hand, stood staring at the closed double doors seething. Once more the boy had gotten out from under his thumb. For while he had been initially angered at the boy's name coming out of the goblet, his mind had already began making plans to use this as a way to get the boy headed down the path, he had set for him all those years ago.

Taking a deep breath and deciding to think on it later, Dumbledore turned towards the staff, and motioned for the other judges to follow him into the room at the back to discuss the first task with the three champions, never noticing how Alastor's eyes portrayed hatred and anger, never noticing how the mans fists clenched.

For weeks after that Halloween night when his name had come out of the Goblet, people staired at him as he walked the halls or sat as his table in the great hall.

While he was thankful that because of the vow he had made in front of everyone, -thus not giving anyone the ability to accuse him of cheating or taking away Cedric's deserved popularity as the Hogwarts Champion,- he wasn't bombarded with ridicule, the stairs were beginning to irritate him more and more and as the days went on, he could slowly feel his temper starting to grow.

He just wanted a moments peace!

One day after he had finally had enough, he found himself in the kitchens eating his lunch, as he angrily flipped through one of his textbooks muttering to himself.

When suddenly one of the house-elves approached him cautiously.

"Excuse me, Dotty not being meaning to bother yous sir, but I's has a place you can go to get some quiet." The little elf told him, nervously ringing her hands.

Raising his eyebrow in interest, Harrison told her to continue. When she told him of this room on the seventh floor that the houseelves refereed to as the come- and-go room, as it only appeared when someone was in desperate need of it, he just sat there for a moment shocked.

"Thank you." He told her eventually before jumping up and throwing his book back into is bag before slinging it over his shoulder and leaving the room. He had classes for the remainder of the afternoon, but he made plans in his head to go check out the room, later that evening.

Walking back and forth three times in front of a seemingly blank wall on the seventh floor later that evening, Harrison smiled in triumph as a large gold door appeared in front of him.

Opening it and walking inside, he laughed out loud as he now stood inside a comfortable looking sitting room, with a large roaring fireplace and bookshelves on the back wall filled to the brim.

Striding over he sat down on the comfortable leather sofa and sighed. He would eventually share this discovery with his friends but wanted to keep it to himself for a few days, so he could finally get the piece he hasn't had in almost a month.

Standing after a while, Harrison wandered the room looking around and silently wondering exactly how the room worked, when suddenly a book appeared on a desk set in the corner. Waking over to it, he picked up the leather clad book with its blank cover and began flipping through it. His eyes widening as he noticed it appeared to be a detailed guide on how to utilize the "Room of Requirement" as was its legitimate name.

Placing the book into his bag, Harrison took one last look around before leaving and making his way back to his common room where he spent the next couple hours reading through the guidebook in the comfort of his for-poster bed, drapes closed, so he wouldn't be disturbed.

Before anyone knew it November 24th had finally come.

The day of the first task saw the sky clear, the sun shining, and temperature still warm enough that they were able to get away without needing to wear their outer-robes as, the entirety of the castle residents -with the exception of the Judges and Champions- settling into the stands, that had been set up just on the outskirts of the forbidden forest.

The excitement in the air was palpable. The stands loud and boisterous.

It only grew as one by one the champions walked out onto the field to face off with their own respective dragons, determined to retrieve the golden egg settled within the cluster of other eggs the nesting mother dragon was guarding.

Harrison sat surrounded by his friends as they watched as Victor had performed a perfectly cast conjunctivitis curse.

As Cedric tried to distract the mother dragon with the use of a transfiguration in the form of a dog.

And Fleur had tried to put the Dragon to sleep with the use of the Bewitched sleep charm.

It seemed to be over quickly, but that didn't take away the excitement, as each champion, while sustaining some injury, victoriously raised their retrieved eggs to the cheering crowd.

Approximately fifteen minutes later, after all injuries had been seen to by Madam Pomfrey, the champions once more entered the arena as their scores were displayed for all to see.

In first place with 45 points was Victor Krum.

In second place with 40 Points was Cedric Diggory.

And in third place with 38 points was Fleur Delacour.

The excitement from the first task seemed to continue on as the days turned into weeks.

Everyone seemed to talk about nothing else until one day in December, 2 weeks before the Yule holidays, their heads of houses made an announcement in each of the four common rooms. This year, the students would be remaining at the castle, and attending a special feast on Thursday December 24th in the great hall, after which those who were fourth year and above would be attending the 'Yule Ball.'

"Students younger than fourth year may attend the ball if invited by an older student." Flitwick told them, before bidding them good evening, and leaving the common room, once more.

Harrison was sat quietly with his roommate and a few friends he had made in Ravenclaw – including Michael Corner, Luna Lovegood and Sue Li, discussing the upcoming Ball. Harrison was one of few students who hadn't been surprised by the announcement having already been told by his dad, that he wouldn't be attending any of the Balls this Yule season, and why just the other night.

Over the next two weeks, the students paired up, as more and more people got the courage to ask someone to the dance. Harrison knew that Blaise would be taking Daphnee, and Neville had asked Luna who Harrison had first spoken too in the common room in the first month of her first year when he noticed others bothering her. They soon became close as time went on, and Harrison had even stopped others from bullying in the past. Now she was considered one of his closest friends, if not as close as Blaise, Daphnee and Neville. So, Harrison was pleased when his Brother asked her to be his date to the Ball.

Harrison himself had asked Durmstrang student Dexter Andriev. A Seventeen-year-old somewhat shy boy, who was almost three inches shorter than Harrison himself was who had hit another growth spurt over the last few months.

Harrison exited his common room on the evening of the Yule ball, having gone to get ready immediately after the feast they had in the great hall 2 hours prior.

Walking down the steps to the entrance hall where he was to be meeting Dexter, he straightened the lapels of his black suit, before making sure one last time that his royal blue shirt and silver tie were straight, before finally placing a grin on his lips, as he approached his date, who was just as impeccably dressed as he himself.

Greeting the older teen, with a light bow and kissing the back of his hand, Harrison offered his elbow, before escorting the boy through the double doors and into the beautifully decorated hall.

They made their way over to a table at which sat Harrison's friends and some of Dexter's school mates, before turning and waiting for the champions to enter with their dates for the first dance.

Harrison was both exhausted and exhilarated as he once more took to the dance floor with his date.

They had spent the better part of the last three hours dancing amongst a majority of the rest of the school.

While they had danced, they got to know each other, learning all the little things one would reveal on a first date. Harrison had liked what he learned, laughing quietly as the boy told him an amusing story of his past.

Taking a breath, as they slowly twirled around the room, Harrison locked eyes with his partner, deciding that while the foreign student resided inside the castle, he would see him again. "Id like to take you out, during the first Hogsmeade weekend in January, if you are agreeable," he told him confidently. Smiling as Dexter nodded back immediately.

"That Vood be Vonderful!"

Harrison just smiled as he pulled the boy closer and they continued to dance for another three songs, before deciding it was late, he walked him to the front doors, kissing him goodnight, and thanking him for a great time.

After which he made his way back to his dorm, to fall into bed happy but exhausted.

Winter was slowly coming to an end, as the taste of spring hit the air, the days grew longer, and the snow began to slowly melt.

Over the past three months Harrison had been on multiple dates with Dexter, getting to know the boy more and more each day.

While he knew once the year was over and the visiting schools left in little more than 2 months' time, he and Dexter would end things, as nether one of them had any desire of being in a long-distance relationship, they were enjoying the opportunity to get know each other and make a long-lasting acquaintance, of which they would keep for years to come.

Only three weeks prior in late February, the school had once more come together to witness the champions as the competed in the second task.

This time taking place within the depths of the cold black lake. The students and staff, had watched as each champion made their way below the surface, fighting off grindylows, coming up against the merfolk who lived below, and saving their hostages, of which ended up being a person of importance to each induvial competitor.

After coming out one by one starting with Cedric, then Victor, and finally Fleur, who had been unable to escape the grindylow, thus her forcing the Merchief to bring her little sister top side once the 2nd task was finished. The Results were given.

In first place with a score of 50 points, having reached the surface with only a minute to spare was Cedric Diggory.

In second place with a score of 43 points having reached the surface 10 minutes outside the allotted hour was Victor Krum.

And in third place, having not been able to retrieve her hostage and awarded just 20 points was Fleur Delacour.

Now as the days went by and April was slowly coming to end, the students were being put through a grueling revision by all of their professors in preparation of end of year tests and Fifth and Seventh-year students were constantly packed into empty classrooms or taking over the library as they got ready for their OWLS and NEWTs the week after the final task was to take place.

So, while the student's staff were distracted, the man everyone believed to be Alastor Madeye Moody, had temperately left the school in search of a way to still complete the task his master had set for him to retrieve the Potter Boy, and bring him to him by the end of the year.

Because while the boy, may have ruined his plan to have him compete in the tournament, there for he could 'help' him win by taking out his competition during the third task, thus ensuring he touched the Golden Cup, unknowingly transporting him directly to the Dark Lord, where he awaited, assisted by none other than Wormtail, the man would not stop until he finally made his master proud.
