A/N: Wow, so sorry guys, I am so sorry that it has taken this long to update, I am still continuing this story and completely intend on finishing it, and I do see the general direction with where I am taking it, but there are small instances here and there where I did not plan out and draw blanks. This combined with the fact that I recently just got an American Bully puppy, which has been a handful to say the least, AND while writing this, I had another brainstorming idea for another story I plan on eventually writing which involves Yang having a twin brother who was raised by Raven, and well my brain hasn't really had the time to think up of another chapter to this story. Even though I know somewhat the general direction here, there are still going to be instances on the road where I get stuck either due to outside forces in my life that preoccupy my time or creative issues I need to sort out. That being said, I still hope you continue to read, enjoy, and give feedback whether it be positive or constructive. This will stray from the past two chapters in that it will be told from Ruby's perspective, she will be the first of multiple characters that I plan on telling PoV's, Ignis is not the only important character in this story, there will be more than one character that will have plenty of chapters dedicated to them and their perspective.

Ruby I

They were both in the backyard of their home, marveling at the snow as it fell from the sky, it came in many shapes and sizes, and they signified the end of fall and the beginning of winter, they wore proper winter clothes as well, Ruby in her red winter coat, and black scarf, black pants and shoes, Ignis' coat was a lighter red, and his scarf was white, like the color of their mom's cloak, with dark red pants and white shoes.

Ignis was trying to time the drop of one of the flakes perfectly, so that it would fall perfectly on his little face, Ruby giggled at his antics, their mommy would be coming home today, after a whole month with her gone on her mission, all of the kids had missed her desperately.

Ruby in particular fantasized about eating her cookies again, Ignis wanted to sit in her lap as she read to him stories, and even non-fictional things, Yang longed to have her brush her hair again as Yang talked about her day.

Ignis suddenly stops and falls backwards, Ruby watched as he fell, "Wuby! make angels with me!" he pleaded, Ruby laughs at the way he pronounces her name.

Ignis may have been smarter than most three year olds, but it seems he still has his little verbal quirks, she casually strolls right next to him, "Okay, then we have to go inside, Uncle Qrow said we could only come out here for a little bit, it's gonna get really cold soon"

Ignis looks indignant but says nothing, Ruby sighs and shakes her head, "Igni, please be good and listen, it's not safe when it gets too cold, do you want to get sick and sneeze all of your icky boogers all over mommy when she reads to you?"

Ignis blushes in embarrassment just at the thought of it and shakes his head, Ruby smiles at him in a teasing manner, Ignis wanted to show their mommy and daddy that he was a big boy now, and it was adorable whenever he tried to do something that big boys did, or when he tried to avoid doing things that would label him as the small boy he really was.

Ruby took a spot that was close to him but gave enough space to do what they were about to do, Ruby laid on her back and looked to her side, "Ready, Igni?" he nods excitedly, "Okay, ready, set, go!"

Their arms and legs moved quickly and with force, within seconds they got up and looked at the shapes they made, they were the typical shape that was made when people do snow angels, only they were obviously much smaller, Ignis' especially.

They laugh in joy at their handiwork, but then the back door springs open quickly and Yang runs out to them so quickly she may as well have been a yellow blur, "Mom's home! Mom's home! Mom's home!" she repeats in excited tones.

Ruby looks to Ignis, and Ignis to her, and they both give the other big toothy smiles, and run with Yang to the front to greet their mom, Uncle Qrow is already there.

They see their family car park out front and see their daddy get out, but the other side doesn't open, they look at their daddy as he gets out of the car, and notice his eyes are red and puffy, they look at him in concern, Ruby walks forward.

"Daddy, where's mommy?" the snow that is falling suddenly takes on a red tint, and it gets redder with each second, the ground around them quickly becomes a sea of crimson, the warm grey winter sky suddenly takes on a shade of scarlet.

Time seems to slow as he looks at them, their daddy sighs, and just says, "You know where she is Ruby", he takes out her cloak from the driver's seat, and all the children look on in horror at the state of it, completely tattered and covered with spots of blood.

Ignis is too young to truly understand the implications, but is sad that mommy isn't there, "Wh-where is mommy? She say she read the new book to me when she get back, Wuby, why she not here?"

Ruby is too frozen in shock and grief to answer, completely despondent, the first tears at the corner of her eyes form, she loses her balance and loses herself in her grief, the tears come out more rapidly now, time freezes and the only sounds that can be heard are her whimpers and wails of heartbreak.

Nothing had ever made her feel so broken, mommy couldn't die, she was a super hero, nothing that was evil could defeat her, it was a lie, an evil lie!

This was all just a messed up joke, a stupid prank that their daddy was playing on all three of them, he was known for being a prankster to everyone in their home, that's all this was... and yet she knew in her heart that wasn't true, not even their daddy would do something this cruel, his pranks were never mean-spirited.

Why did she even have to go on that stupid mission? There were thousands of hunters that the Kingdom of Vale commanded, she cursed the local Primore Venatore for even assigning her the mission, herself for not begging her to stay with her family, but most of all she cursed fate itself for being so cruel.

After what feels like hours of tear shedding, she feels a hand placed on her head and she looks up and gasps, it's their mom, a bright white aura surrounds her, her cloak is not tattered and is positively shining.

Ruby smiles brightly, her tears turn to joy, "Mom! You're back! I knew you wouldn't leave us!", Summer simply smiles, "Ruby, my little red shroud, I'm so proud of you, you've grown into a beautiful young woman".

Ruby notices she's older, but pays no mind, here standing is her mother, after 9 hard painful years, she's returned. She laughs happily through her tears and holds her mom close to her, Yang and Ignis join her, a distant growling is heard and she looks behind their mom to notice the biggest Beowolf she's ever seen, easily dwarfing even the biggest of the Alpha Beowolves.

Summer quickly notices too, she quickly stands in front of all three of her children protectively, she takes out a sword handle and nothing else, the handle itself is made of high quality leather.

The pommel of the handle was in the shape of a eye that was made of silver, the cross-guard was also made of silver, with eloquent designs, at the end of each side of the cross-guard were two lioness heads, mouths snarling and defiant, in the center of the cross-guard was a small hollowed out opening.

If anyone else were watching this, they'd probably assume that Summer was being a suicidal fool, but her children knew different, Summer's weapon was unconventional to say the least by Remnant standards.

People usually made their weapons to be heavily specialized and transformable, with a dual purpose of being a melee and ranged weapon, either that or they were heavy dust users, masters at the art of using elemental dust to their advantage, Summer was neither, and was thus an outlier.

Her entire body radiated light, even her eyes were pure white light, and soon, the sword handle, quickly grew a sword blade, but not one made of any type of metal, no, not one made of dust either, hard-light or otherwise, but one made of pure auric energy, Summer's aura to be precise.

The sword shined so bright that it threatened to swallow the darkness whole, the core of the blade was pure white, there was energy that coursed around the edges of the blade, and it was constantly moving as little ripples.

The big bad beowolf merely looked on in curiosity, before getting into a combat stance, it's frontal body lowered, and it bared it's teeth, the growl it made was absolutely demonic. The beast radiated evil and malicious intent that even for a Grimm, the level of animosity was something to behold.

With the aid of her aura and the level of aura control Summer learned to achieve, it was as if she moved in a flicker, the beowolf barely had enough time to dodge before Summer charged in with a overhead strike.

In place of the beowolf, the great oak tree behind it might as well have been paper mache, the trunk of the great tree was cut effortlessly, causing the big oak to collapse with a thundering noise, Summer quickly moved out of the way before it collapsed on top of her.

The beowolf quickly takes advantage of this and pounces, trying to move in for the kill by swiping it's foot long claws at Summer's throat, she barely had enough time to block this with the flat of her blade, there is a sizzling noise and the air starts to smell like sulfur, the beowolf's claw is being seared just at the mere touch of her sword.

It howls in pain and quickly withdraws from Summer, if it were anything else, the claw would have been reduced to a stump, Summer appears to flicker again, the beowolf is too preoccupied with it's wound to respond in time before Summer delivers a powerful thrust to it's chest.

The beast roars in anger and pain, and quickly moves to decapitate the mortal that dared to try and kill it, Summer effortlessly performs a back flip and creates enough distance to withdraw momentarily and evaluate the situation.

Black ichor starts to spill out on to the ground from the gaping wound on the beowolf's chest, utterly destroying the soil, as if the touch of the ichor was so unnatural and toxic that it could destroy all that was natural and alive, truly alive, and reduce it down to it's very atoms.

The Big Bad Beowolf's red eyes glowed more menacingly now, and all could tell that it was done playing around, it takes in a big breath and holds onto it, what felt like minutes was in reality seconds, and the beowolf shot out of his mouth a burst of sonic energy that was so mighty that it uprooted the great oak trees that surrounded their home.

It sounds distorted and plain wrong, a song of a demon sounding it's massive war-horn, the air around the sonic blast was hot and smelled like the fires of hell, Summer went flying along with the oak trees, and Ruby desperately runs in the direction of Summer to make sure she's okay.

When Ruby catches up to her, a lump forms in her throat, her mom's outfit is tattered and destroyed, Summer herself is heavily bloodied and bruised, with some parts of her skin burned from the sonic blast, which obviously wasn't any normal sonic attack, it somehow combined a heat and sound attack in one, and the results were playing out right before Ruby's eyes.

She hurried to Summer's side, as Summer bravely tries to get up, but the effort is futile. Ruby's tears quickly return at the state of her mother, "Ruby, Ruby, my little red shroud, is that you?"

"I'm here mom, you're safe!" "Ruby?... Ruby? Oh you look so beautiful, my daughter, oh my grown up daughter, I'm so proud of you Ruby"

Ruby whimpers in grief and holds her mother in her arms, "I- I missed you, mom", Summer puts her hand on Ruby's cheek and looks her straight in the eyes, "Now I am complete... I love you"

Summer's grasp on life was weakening and Ruby could tell, but she refused to accept it, "Mom, stay with me! Everything is oka-"

Summer interjects, as if she couldn't hear " I lo- I- I lov-" Summer couldn't speak another word, and in the next few moments her body goes limp, Ruby could perceive what was happening but her mind wasn't processing it, she went blank for what felt like eternity, until a large paw smacked her away with a single swipe.

Ruby went flying, but not so far that she couldn't see the fresh corpse of her deceased mother and the Grimm, no, the demonic abomination, that murdered her.

It had the nerve to lower it's head and gobble her up in one swallow, as if she was nothing but an afternoon snack, and not the woman who comforted her when she had bad dreams, who took care of her when she was sick, who would always be her family's rock when times seemed bad, the person who brushed Yang's hair and listened to her problems, the person who encouraged Ignis' intelligence and read to him whenever she could, snuffed out of existence.

The beowolf bared it's teeth, and Ruby swears the horrible creature was grinning, "Foolish girl, how long can you hide from this? From me?" Ruby shakes her head, multiple emotions were felt at once, she lowers her head in grief, just as it seemed too much for her, she felt something pull at her, and suddenly, everything disappeared.

Ruby sits up gasping and looking around her bedroom alarmed, her bed and clothes are drenched in sweat, it takes a few minutes to collect herself, realization and shock set in, that dream entered her mind again. She hasn't had that dream in years, she stopped having them right around she was eight years old, two years after her mother's death.

Immediately she looks at her beowolf figurine that is placed on a display, she remembers so vividly the day she asked her dad to buy that figurine. For off and on two years she had that awful nightmare, it felt like torture every time she had it, to have her mom again in all her glory, wrapped around her arms, only to have it taken away by some sort of demon, and it would always say those exact words to her.

Their dad was in so much grief that the year of her death and half of the year after that he shut down completely. Surprisingly, their Uncle Qrow was the one who got him out of his funk, she wasn't sure what he said to him that snapped him out of it, but it worked somewhat well.

He started to notice his children and their problems more, but the death of their mother would forever haunt him. He got Ruby help and she started seeing a child psychologist regularly, but that only really helped her cope with the dreams, it never solved the issue itself.

Some time after her eighth birthday, she expressed that she wanted to begin her training as a huntress, children usually started learning the basics at a preliminary combat school when they reach seven years old if their aura levels were considered sufficient enough to become a huntsman/huntress, nothing dangerous was taught, but children started to learn the basics of controlling their aura and using it to it's potential, if they were especially gifted and already unlocked their semblance, they learned basics of what a semblance is.

You didn't do any official combat training at the schools until you were twelve years old, Ignis' age, and even then it's heavily regulated and the instructors are watchful for bad conduct and aren't afraid to cut a match when it seems it could go too far. For obvious reasons she had skipped a year.

Naturally, their father having just lost their mother, was stubborn at the idea of his daughter taking part in the very same career that she died in, he refused, but Uncle Qrow knew that for Ruby, this wasn't just some childish thing that she wanted and would get rid of the moment something better came along.

Being a huntress was something that was in her blood, as it was for mom, that was partly why, there were multiple reasons why she wanted to be a huntress.

The stories she was read to as a small child by Yang have always been an inspiration, she wanted to be the one others could count on, to give light to a world that was suffocating on darkness.

To protect her family and families like hers, and then she thinks about her mother, Ruby never asked her mother why she did what she did, but she imagines it was for similar reasons. Her younger self was too busy marveling at the example she set to ask the questions her present self would ask.

Her eyes sting at that realization, but she quickly shakes her head as if to shake the coming sorrow off of her. Uncle Qrow started training her in secret for months, it was the start of their teacher/student relationship, their uncle was a drunk and bitter at the world, but she knew that deep down he loved every moment training her, and Ruby felt the same way.

Their secret training didn't remain a secret for long, thanks to Ignis, not that she blamed him, he was a little boy who one day followed his uncle and sister to watch them practice fight, and naturally being a little boy, couldn't wait to tell their dad all the cool moves that his big sister knew how to do.

Ruby at the time was prepared to be grounded forever, but she still was persistent in her dream to be a huntress when Uncle Qrow and herself were confronted by her father, she had never seen him so red faced and angry before, but when he looked into her resolved eyes, his anger disappeared almost instantly, tears entered his eyes and she still remembers what he said, 'You look just like your mother'.

After asking if this is for sure what she wanted to do, and her saying yes, her father gave his permission and blessing for her to officially train to be a huntress, he knew in that moment she was just like her mother, if he forbid her, she would just continue to sneak around behind his back and train anyways, this way he would be able to help guide her and made sure she was able to survive.

The moment she decided to become a huntress and trained to be one, the nightmares stopped, and she thought they were gone forever. One day, when she was about ten years old, their family went to the local mall in Patch City to shop for various things. While window shopping she came across a Grimm figurines shop, and a particular figurine in particular stood out to her, a beowolf one, she begged their father to buy it for her, he asked why she wanted it, and she said it was so she could have a permanent reminder that she was able to beat the nightmare.

So much for that, though she guessed it was still a nice little memento, and it started her hobby of collecting Grimm figurines.

Her clothes are filthy, the sheets ruined, she takes her scroll to see the time, five-thirty, figures that she robs herself of an extra hour of sleep thanks to an old nightmare she thought would never come back again.

Today was the day, it had been months since the incident with Ignis, four to be exact, and though he had forgiven her, he didn't forget, and she didn't expect him to. The sister who basically helped raise him was leaving for one of the big four academies, and he found out in one of the worst ways possible thanks to that same sister.

Yang tried to help by saying to her that everything would work out, and that maybe it was for the best, Ignis was introverted and barely had any friends at school, the only people he talks to he calls "acquaintances", maybe this way he could grow into his own.

She had a point, but Ruby couldn't help but wonder if Ignis was made to be a social person, she believed he could make friends, true friends, but like herself, he hates being the center of attention, and like herself he is socially awkward, but he's also very intelligent, he knows things that the average twelve year old simply doesn't, and he probably could teach classes himself, he was one of those students that would correct teachers if they were wrong.

He also takes classes at school that would stump ninety-nine percent of the student body, and that was another obstacle for him, due to his intelligence he feels like it's difficult to talk to other people his age, and the other students think he's just being arrogant, and as a result, keep their distance from him.

She'd help him overcome his social problems if she could, but that would mean she would have to first fix hers, she was not blind, she knew she was seen as something special by people at her old school, no matter how much she hated it, they didn't see her as a person, but as an object of popularity, though it wasn't too bad, she managed to find some friends who truly liked her for who she was.

More than once Yang said that she was the bees knees for coming to Beacon 2 years early, but she was determined at her new school that she was not going to be the bee's knees, or any other type of knees, at Beacon, she was going to have normal knees.

Feeling filthy, she gets up and gets her clothes ready, eager to take a shower to get rid of the sweat that she was covered in.

A great bridge connected the island of Patch to mainland Vale.

Yang, herself, and Ignis were in the family car with their dad driving on said bridge. Yang rode shotgun, while Ruby and Ignis were in the back, Ignis to the left, Ruby to the right.

She looked to Ignis, and as she thought, he was putting on a brave front, Ignis was not good at hiding his emotions, and she could tell behind his fake smile, that he was an emotional wreck, she knew this because he always put his index finger and thumb on his forehead whenever he had to deal with stress or anxiety, it was his tell, and he kept on doing this when he thought she wasn't looking.

She put her hand on his shoulder, "Igni, I promise I'll scroll-mail, text, or call you and dad whenever I can, this isn't goodbye forever."

Ignis looked at her and gave half a smile, "Ruby, you don't have to say that just to make me comfortable, I know you'll be extremely busy and-"

"That doesn't matter!" She was surprised to hear herself raise her voice, what was a quiet conversation now had the attention of everyone in the car.

"I'll always be there for you and I'm not the only one. You, Me, Yang, and Dad, we're all we have, and nothing can ever change that, do you understand?" Ignis is wide-eyed, not expecting this, but he eventually nods.

Ruby smiles reassuringly and nods to him, out of the corner of her eye she sees their father looking in the rear-view mirror, he is smiling and his face is full of pride for what she said.

He wasn't alone, Yang looked back and smiled too, "Yeah! And what am I? Chopped liver? You better believe I'm gonna keep in touch too, you little squirt" she said the last part with affection, and then put her hand out, her expectation was obvious. Ruby quickly added her hand, and Ignis had a huge smile on his face, putting his hand into the mix, Yang nods, "On three, one, two, three!"

"FAMILY IS FOREVER!"

It was a vow they made to each other as small children, even when their father recovered from his funk, it was still a difficult task for him to raise three children on his own, he has some help from Uncle Qrow, but their uncle has problems of his own.

This meant that they had look out for each other as siblings, they sometimes had babysitters, but their dad has a distrust of strangers that he didn't have when their mom was still alive. The vow was a constant reminder that no matter how bad it got, they always had Patch, they always had their house in the woods, and they always had each other.

Their car eventually pulled into a huge parking lot, next to the lot were multiple landing pads, around thirty of them, all having Bullheads that were made special for Beacon Academy, these sleeker versions could fit twenty occupants per Bullhead, Beacon was more than just an academy, in a way it was like a small city in of itself, six-hundred first years would seem like a daunting task to many combat schools on a logistical level, some combat schools only had six-hundred students in total, but not to Beacon.

As they got out, Ignis first got something from the trunk of the car, Yang and Ruby both raised a brow at this, they didn't see him put anything in the trunk when getting in the car, he must have done something before they got to the car, he gets what looks like a duffel bag out, puts it on the ground at their feet and unzips it, inside are multiple shapes that are covered.

First he went to Ruby, "Guys, can you close your eyes?", Ruby had a look that was questioning, Yang raises an eyebrow "Ignis, what are you doing?" Ignis just sighs, "Just do it please Ruby, for me" Ruby and Yang close their eyes after a few seconds, there are ruffling sounds coming from the duffel bag and it takes everything in her power not to open her eyes and peek.

"You can open them now", Ruby opens her eyes and gasps, Yang gasps too, there were two things he got out of the bag for them both, one was a Grimm figurine unlike any she has ever seen before, usually Grimm figurines are mass manufactured, made out of plastic usually, but this one looked hand crafted and custom made, and not only that, but it was a Nuckelavee figurine, they are very rare, and something any collector worth their salt would be willing to buy at a great price, the figurine itself is mostly made out of ebony wood, the claw, hooves, rib-cage, various other parts meant to represent the bones of the creature, and muzzle are made out of a metal of some sort, the metal was painted white.

The inside of the horse's mouth as well as the nose are made of metal and painted red, it was the same for the gaping mouth of the humanoid part of the Nuckelavee. Last but not least, the eyes for both the horse and the humanoid were made of tiny crushed rubies, and they were by far the most noticeable and beautiful parts of the entire figurine, the amount of energy and time that went into this must have been exhausting, the wood was polished so expertly that she'd probably be able to use the figurine as a mirror, the painted metal had a sheen to it and it was alive with color, the rubies were a brighter red, they sparkled and glistened in the daylight.

The other gift she assumed was for Yang, and it was no less amazing, it was a guitar, an electric guitar, Yang started to get tears in her eyes at the sight of it, the body of the guitar was mahogany with a single cutaway, it's top was carved maple, with a stoptail bridge at the bottom, the fretboard was once again made of a polished ebony, she knew a quality guitar when she saw one, how could she not know anything about them? Yang is always enthusiastic to talk her ears off about all the different varieties and models of guitars, and Ruby was all too willing to listen even though she typically regretted it whenever she indulged her.

The flashiest part of the guitar was the body itself, it was a midnight black coat, with two golden yellow dragon decals on the top and bottom, the top dragon looking to the left, and the bottom one looking to the right, they were positioned in a way that when the guitarist held the guitar to the side, it looked like the two were roaming around a charred surface, circling each other, as if they were going to fight an epic battle to see who would be king of the dragons. Like the figurine, by the quality, you could tell it was custom made, there was nothing that showed it was mass produced.

How did he... it finally dawns on Ruby what Ignis had done and she covers her mouth in shock, a month after the 'incident', Ignis asked their dad over dinner if he could start doing a paper route to start earning some extra cash, dad was reluctant obviously, but after Ignis gave him a whole speech about how it'd teach him the value of a Lien, give him a stronger work ethic, and it would teach him responsibility, dad couldn't really argue with Ignis' logic, the thing that sealed the deal was when Ignis told him that it was a pretty isolated job, that the only real interactions he had was with the person that gave him the newspapers, and he'd get paid five dollars for each delivered newspaper, he told Ruby that there were thirty deliveries on his route in total every day, it wasn't like the suburbs where houses were all neatly packed together, some homes were miles apart, he got up before even the crack of dawn, with his little bicycle, worked and hustled just so he could save enough money to build these beautiful and outstanding gifts for his sisters.

He always had a knack for crafting things, even when he was little he would make little buildings with his block toys, then when he was older he joined the hunter scouts and that's where he learned to refine his skill, Signal Academy is where he perfects them, the combat schools are always on the look out for people who are especially great with engineering, mechanical work, and craftsmanship in general, Hunters at Signal were expected to craft their own weapons, but that's not a rule for every combat school, and their were multiple tools that hunters used besides their own specialized weapons, and Ignis is one of the best at creating them.

Both Ruby and Yang have tears in their eyes, and tears running down their faces, to say that she was overwhelmed was an understatement, it explained so much about the deliveries he would get, and how he would leave his room while home to only eat, drink, or use the bathroom.

Ignis scratched the back of his neck nervously, "So, I suppose you two want me to explain how?" he took their silence as permission to continue, "Well, believe it or not, crushed rubies are actually not as expensive as their counterparts, that's not to say I was trying to be cheap of course, crushed rubies were the best option in my view for the eyes, I debated whether I wanted to enamel the metal of the Nuckelavee or just use normal paint, I decided ultimately that enameling would be much too time consuming compared to just painting the metal normally. Considering I had such a short window to make these gifts, it was an easy choice in hindsight.

Ebony wood is just the obvious choice when making a Grimm figurine, I polished it to such an extent to represent the disgusting body of the Grimm. The guitar is actually based on a classic model that I'm sure you know all about Yang, I'm sure your amp was already shipped to Beacon ahead of time like the rest of your luggage, the golden dragons are a poetic choice I think, and I think the term used to call something cool in the subculture you're a part of is called "metal", two dragons preparing for battle on a charred field I believe fits that description, mahogany is always a good choice for an instrument like this and the neck is-"

Neither Ruby or Yang let him finish another word, they both know that if they did he'd go on forever, he didn't mean anything by it, but whenever he gets nervous he talks a lot, it was something he did to cope, he probably was worried that Yang and I wouldn't like his gifts, she hated to see that he had such a low opinion of himself and his work, they both ran at high speed and hugged Ignis, Yang with much more force.

"Squirt, they're perfect, you don't have to be nervous" Yang said in a soothing and emotional tone, Ruby nodded and added, "Stop doubting yourself so much, Igni" Ignis smiled at the both of them and tears started running down his eyes, "I-I'm going to miss you guys"

Ruby looks at him, "Remember what I said Igni, I meant it, and so did Yang" Yang nods and smiles, she looks to Ruby, "Rubes, we should hurry before we miss our Bullhead" She nods and goes to pick up her brand new figurine, Yang does the same for her new guitar, when Yang goes to hug dad, Ruby does the same, Yang turns to leave but Ruby stops for a moment, remembering something important, something that only happened for a few split seconds but something that was gnawing at her mind for months since it happened.

"Yang, go ahead, I need to tell Ignis something first", Yang nods and goes towards the Bullhead, Ruby looks at Ignis who is looking back at her with a questioning stare,

"Ignis, remember when you lost your temper at the announcement in the cafeteria and I used my semblance to catch up to you?" Ignis nods slowly, not sure what she was getting at, "Maybe I was just imagining it, but I swear I saw your eyes, and they were on fire, now that I think about it, your hair was on fire too"

Ignis looks at her incredulously, "On fire? Ruby, I think I would have remembered being on fire, are you sure you weren't imagining it?"

Ruby frowns and shakes her head, now certain, "No I wasn't, and it wasn't like a normal fire, I don't know how to explain it, but it was like the fire was part of you, not like it was burning you."

Ignis ponders on that, and can only say one thing, "Huh".

A/N: Wow, how embarrassing, this serves as an updated A/N, as it was weeks, hell, months ago, that I even wrote the first one, that puppy I mentioned got upgraded to two puppies from the same litter(it wasn't working out with the owners, who likely thought owning a pet was some walk in the park, we gladly welcomed her into our home.)

I still very much plan on making this story and finishing it, in fact this story I plan on being in multiple parts, what's more besides the story with Yang having a twin who was raised by Raven, I also brainstormed an idea to make a reaction fic with Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, having RWBY characters react to alternate versions of themselves in this grand and epic universe, the idea came while watching reactions to the show itself on Youtube, given that I absolutely despise the final season of said show, it'll be more in line with the books than the TV show, but I'll of course selectively add in scenes from the show that I think improve Martin's world.

If you'll notice, I also was using some very Latin inspired language in this chapter, and the previous one, that was very much intentional, and it's part of an idea in this story that I'm going to be expanding on, the latin inspired language I plan(so far) being an amalgamation of Latin, Italian, and Romanian, given that these three languages are related to one another, this'll prove to be interesting to say the least.

The Primore Venatore means "Prime Hunter" or "Best Hunter", they are a senior officer that give out missions to other hunters, they also end up leading groups of teams this is the first of many additions I want to add to the lore, it'd definitely make sense for Ozpin to delegate the command of his hunters rather than just do it all himself, and to be fair one could say that the viewer could already make such a common sense assumption, but I wanted to expand on that and go into details

Also, if you noticed, there is a nice little tribute/easter egg to Star Wars in Ruby's dream sequence, and no, it is not Summer's sword. (Believe it or not, that was free of influence from Star Wars, I just find the idea of weaponry made purely of aura interesting, and really want to expand on that in this story.)

Based on Summer's auric sword alone, I may have to forego on my initial promise that I won't veer away from established lore too radically, it'll still have the same soul as RWBY, but with my own touch.
