I'm gonna love you through it
Since this month is breast cancer month. This chapter going to fast forward a lot to where the twins are in middle school, and the triplets are in second grade, and Kevin will finally have his boy, and there will be another baby added in the mix
Tori & Bella were in the sixth grade, and were in the band. Bella played the flute, and Tori played the saxophone. Bridget, Ever rose and Gabby were in the second grade. The boy Kevin jr. just entered kindergarten, and there was Britannic Kevin and Dianna one year old daughter that was special. Dianna wanted an even number of kids, so they had their last one a baby girl named Stephanie. One day when Dianna was getting dressed she noticed a lump on her right breast
"Kevin can you take Britannic and Stephanie with you to set today cause I'm going to go to the hospital to get checked out" Dianna asks him
"Sure Dianna come here my two little princess's" he says carry Stephanie and Britannic out to his car and placing Stephanie in her carrier
Dianna calls the hospital to schedule her mammogram, and she got right in
(The hospital)
"Dianna" the nurse calls from the doorway
Dianna gets up and follows the nurse to where she was going to put a hospital gown on, and wait in a room until it was her turn to go get her mammogram
"We're ready for you Dianna" a different nurse says to her
Dianna follows the nurse to the room the machine is. The nurse help Dianna get into position. Once Dianna was in position the nurse took the picture of the breast that Dianna was worried about
"Okay Dianna your doctor will be in touch with you in the next couple of days with the results" the nurse says when Dianna was finished
(Couple of days later)
"Hi Dianna this is Dr. Light is Kevin with you by any chance?" the doctor asks when she called one day
"Yes he is Kevin darling can you come downstairs please?" she calls upstairs
"Sure be right down" he says after he was done changing Britannic
Dianna puts the phone on speaker
"Okay Dianna I have the results of your mammogram you had done recently, and I'm sorry to tell you this but you have breast cancer" Dr. Light says to Dianna
Dianna breaks down and cries
"It's okay Dianna we are going to battle this disease together as a team, as a family" he says comforting her
"Doc what stage of breast cancer is it?" he asks
"Since Dianna caught it early I'd say stage 1 going into stage two. I want to start treatment right away with chemo and radiation, and surgery" Dr. Light says
"Thank you doctor" Kevin says hanging up the phone
Dianna just sobs into Kevin as he hugs her tight
"Dianna the girls will probably come up with fun ideas at school to help battle this. Remember Bella on council" Kevin says
"Yeah how are we going to tell the older six that I got cancer without crying" Dianna says with a sniffle
"I'll tell them right now" he says grabbing Britannic & Stephanie and heading for the elementary school
(Elementary school)
"Hey Vicky can you pull Bridget, Ever-Rose, Gabby, and K.J for me please I have something I need to tell them that can't wait" Kevin says as he enters the office with Britannic & Stephanie in the stroller
"Sure Mrs. Mellow can you send the McHale triplets down to the office please?" Vicky says calling down to the girls room
"Sure Bridget, Ever-Rose, and Gabby you may go" Mrs. Mellow says
"I hope everything is okay with mom" Bridget says as they walk hand in hand to the office
"I hope so too" Ever-Rose says
"I have a feeling everything is not okay" Gabby says as they head for the office
"Dad how's mom?" Ever-Rose asks
"She not okay Ever-Rose can we talk in private?" Kevin asks Vicky
"Sure go to the teacher's lounge no one is there right now" Vicky says
Kevin leads the girls there
All three girls sit on the couch and wait for what their dad was going to tell them
"The doctor called mom a couple minutes of go, and it is not happy news instead it's sad news. Mom has breast cancer" he tells them
All three girls are in disbelief Bridget starts to cry, Gabby takes off her glasses and runs her hand through her brown hair. Ever-Rose walks back to the classroom
"Bridget do you want me to sign you out?' he asks her
"Yes daddy can you?" she asks
"Sure go get your backpack and your homework while I sign all three of you out" he says heading back to the office
Going back to the classroom Bridget and Gabby hold onto each other
"Is everything okay Ever-Rose?" Mr. Mellow asks
"No everything is not okay our dad just told us that our mom has breast cancer" Ever-Rose says sitting down
"Ever-Rose all three of you are excused to go home" Mrs. Mellow says
Soon Ever-Rose loses it right there in the classroom
"Come on sissy daddy going to sign us out" Gabby says getting her backpack
Ever-Rose follows as their classmates get their homework gathered for them. Once all three had their backpacks they headed for the office where Kevin was going to take them home after the middle school
"Apparently Mrs. Marker class went on a field trip, and won't be back till later" Vicky says after trying to find the kindergarten class
"Thanks Vicky I'll be back later" he says leaving with all three crying eight year olds
(Middle School)
"Hey Rachel can you call Victoria & Isabella down here please it's important?" Kevin asks coming in the office with the little girls
"Sorry students aren't allowed to leave the classroom unless it's an emergency" Rachel says smiling
"Can I go tell them it has something that has to do with their mom?" he asks
"I'll page the band room since parents aren't allowed in the hallways unannounced' she says calling down to the band room
(Band room)
"Mr. Carey is Victoria and Isabella there?" Rachel asks
"Yeah they are" Mr. Carey says
"Well their dad has something to say to them" she says putting Kevin on
"Girl's the doctor called your mom an hour ago with some bad news" he says speaking to them
"What is it dad?" Bella asks placing her flute on her lap
"Yeah you're scaring us" Tori says
'The bad news is mom has breast cancer" he tells them
Tori is in disbelief and Bella starts losing it
"She will be okay though?" Tori asks moving next to Bella
"Yeah she will be going through some tough treatment, and she will have surgery down the road
That's makes Bella cry more
"Mr. McHale us as a band will come up with ideas how we can help with eight kids I imagine you will have a lot on your plate" Mr. Carey says
"Yes we will" he says
"Tori and Bella you are excused" Mr. Carey says
Tori and Bella puts their instruments away, and goes get their homework along with their backpacks
'Mr. McHale my wife is a survivor and Dianna will beat this" the principal says coming out
"Thanks" Kevin says
"We as a school will have different events going on to help pay for any cost you guys encounter" the principal says
"Thanks very much" Kevin says wiping away his tears
Tori and Bella came to the office and left with their sisters
"How bad is it dad?" Tori asks taking her seat on the bus
"Not that bad Tori they caught it early enough that they can treat it with surgery and medicine" Kevin says as they leave the middle school
Kevin keeps the girls away as long as possible, so he can come up with a plan on how to help her when she goes through chemo and radiation and taking care of eight kids one of them is special needs
'Girls I want all of you to work on your homework before you can play" he tells them when they reach a local park
The girls spread amongst the picnic tables and got started on their homework while their dad took the youngest girls to the playground
(Two hours later)
"Okay girls we have to go pick up your brother from school' he calls after they have played for a little bit
The girls stayed on the bus while Kevin went after K.J and pulled him out before school was dismissed
"Son I have something to say to you that I told your sisters, and that is mommy has cancer" Kevin tells K.J
K.J just loses it
"Come on let's go home" he says carrying the five year old on the bus
When they got home Kevin put Tori and Bella in charge of watching the younger one's in the backyard while he checks on Dianna
"Darling you okay?" he asks coming in the master
"Kevin I'm not okay through the treatments I'm going to go through I'm gonna lose my hair and have to wear wigs or hats" she says crying
"I tell you what when you lose your hair I'll get mine shave and we can wear wigs together or hats together. We are in this together I helped you through five pregnancies, and one home birth" he says
"Yeah Stephanie's birth was a quick one cause she was coming so fast we didn't have time to go to the hospital" Dianna says with a chuckle
"I was your rock when the twins and the triplets were in the NICU. I stood strong for you and I you can lean on me through this" he says hugging her
"Thanks Kevin I knew I married you for a reason" she says falling into his embrace
