Merida quickly got onto her horse on her way to find hiccup.

"Faster angus, faster! !"

She finally got to the shop where hiccup was working at with gobbler. It was such a big hit when hiccup brought back some advanced gear he had made at Berk to Dunbroch that they made another little shop similar to the one at Berk. Hiccup would go and check up on gobbler there every now and then as he taught the Scottish apprenticeship program to show the Scottish people how to make their own gear.

Merida arrived and quickly jumped off angus before she even had time to stop.

Toothless was outside the shop laying down but once he heard Merida he jumped up full of joy to see her and quickly went to greet her. Licking her and leaving her with slobber, Merida didn't mind "haha hi toothless !" She said to him before she ran towards the shop.

"Hiccup! Your beloved is here!"

Gobbler yelled.

"Hello tu yeu teu gobbler." Merida said sweetly with a smile as she walked passed him.

"Milady" he replied as he bowed his head.

Hiccup was assisting one of the teens as they assemble a part of armor.

"Yeah there you go, not too bad I like it"

"Hiccup!" Merida said eagerly.

"Merida, hey ! What chu need?" He asked while continuing to check the students armor.

Merida grabbed on to his arm doing a small little dance of joy as she tugged at him "com' ! I need tu tell ye somethin'!"

Hiccup chuckled at how eager Merida was to get him out of there. He laugh at her gesture.

"Merida hold on I'm in the middle of something"

Merida was not amused and in response her smile suddenly became a serious face.

"Fine. I'll just leave" she said angrily walking away.

"M-Merida, wait!" Hiccup dropped what he was doing and ran to her before she could get back on angus.

"Hey! Hey don't be upset okay I was helping someone out" he said apologetically as he went to grab her hands.

She didn't want to look at him until she finally did then took a deep breathe and she began. "I'm finally free now" she said with a smile.

Hiccup gave her a confused look.

"W-what do you mean?" He asked

"I'm not goin' tu be queen anymore we can du other things and-" hiccup then interrupted her

"Whoa whoa wait what? But that's your birth right" he reminded her

"Ya but I don't want to du that love. I'm not ready and I don't think I'll ever be. So aunt Gothel-" hiccup interrupts her.

"Wait, no no. You have to take your crown mer that's who you are. I know it's scary and a lot of responsibility but it's who you are."

Meridas smile suddenly went away. She thought hiccup would be happy for her.

"But hiccup-"

"No love listen to me. I-I was scared too when I became chief. My father told me I would be great but i didn't believe him. And what was worse was I didn't have someone there to rule with me but you have me" Hiccup grabbed her hand placing it to his chest. She looked at where he placed his hand then at him.

"You feel that, that's never going to change. I'll be right here for you. I love you Merida and we'll take this on, together, you will be a GREAT queen. Just...give it a chance and I'll be here every step of the way"

There was a pause. Then Merida hugged hiccup. "You promise?" She whispered

And he replied "I promise"

It was nightfall and the two returned back to the castle, Merida had stayed the rest of the day with her love enjoying seeing him work on something he really loved other than toothless. Once they got back they both said goodnight to toothless and were ready to head to bed but before they went up Merida ran into her mother.

"Mum! Hav yeu seen aunt Gothel ?"

"She left this afternoon, don't know what for though dear, did yu need her ? Elenor replied.

"I, but I guess I'll have to wait for her tu get back...anyways goodnight mother" she replied

"Merida!"

"Yes?"

"Lessons. Tomorrow." Elenor said in a serious tone. Merida had completely forgot "uh I tomorrow" she replied nervously.

She got to her chambers and walked in on her husband changing into his night wear.

He had taken his shirt of and she noticed all the scars on his back that she never realized were there. He had a few on his chest and his abdomen but she never took a look at his back. She got closer to touch them. Hiccup hadn't noticed Merida come in until she touched his scars.

"I never noticed these..." she said sadly

"There...there not my best ones" he replied and he was right. They looked like burns but also knife cuts, there were 10 total, 9 were bad but it was just one that was huge it started from his right shoulder down to his left hip that topped them off.

"If toothless hadn't been there...I don't know" Hiccup said remembering that day. Merida's eyes began to water. She remembered that day too. One they would never forget. Hiccup went to face an enemy that was threatening to take berks dragons and invade Dunbroch with them taking both lands. But hiccup wasn't going to let that happen so he went right to them with about a dozen dragons. They were all defeated and they got hiccup. The took him to an abandoned cave and put his hands in chains, restrained from above each hand was hanging from each side, beside his head like he was a puppet. And they torchered him to tell them where the rest of the dragons were and where they were hiding but he didn't budge. See Hiccup knew that that could happen, he could get caught so before he went he had us hide in a safe place. Days became weeks. Toothless had stayed behind to protect us but there was finally a loss of hope and toothless went to find hiccup. And he did, hiccup had found a way to escape. Merida remembers the day like it was yesterday. That day that she finally got to see her beloved he could barely walk. Broken from every part of his body but he still managed to move just enough to get to us and once he saw toothless he let go and let us help him. Merida is suddenly brought out of thought from hiccup touching the hand she had on his shoulder. He turned around to face her. Showing his chest that wasn't as bad.

"Hey It's over okay" he whispered to her and removed a tear falling from her face.

Merida shook her head to snap out of it.

"I yer right I'm sorry" she apologized.

Hiccup let out a small laugh.

"Your what kept me going, you know that?"

She looked at him smiling at her and she couldn't resist but kiss him. He returned the kiss and lifted her up by her legs. She couldn't help but laugh because she couldn't believe how easily he lifted her up it was like she was a feather.

He then took her to bed dropping her on it as he laid on top. Both a few inches away from each other. Hiccup just smiling at his love while Merida did the same.

"Hiccup?" She asked as she played with some dragon teeth he had hanging around his neck"

"Hm?"

"I love you..." Merida said smiling while she looked into his eyes

Hiccup smiled so big his face hurt.

"I love you the most" and he kissed his beloved passionately, then continued to get ready for bed, snuggling up next to each other till they doze off

Late that night Merida had trouble sleeping so she laid there, her head resting on her husbands chest admiring him. While he had one arm tucked in under her to pull her closer to him if he needed. She reached out to touch his face and thinking to her self how not even a word could explain what she felt towards Hiccup. He was everything to her. She never imagined she would fall so hard for someone. He was the sweetest and gentle person she had ever met but at the same time brave and determined. Yet everyone fears him and even more after that dark day, he escaped the most dangerous people. If they couldn't stop him who could? He was "The Champion"

Everyone thinks she loved him for his titles and the challenge to be with him. But it was never that it was the way he treated her like a gentlemen a sweet heart, as much as she tried to push him away he didn't give up he kept trying to make her happy and loved her for everything she was even showed her the best parts of her self and he was patient with her. Everyone wanted her for her title but not him. She continued to stare at him until she doze of having the last thing in her mind be her Hiccup.
