Hiccup walked into his cabin quietly and with caution not knowing what to expect but eager to meet his little one. The healer who helped Merida deliver their child saw him come in and greeted him.

"Ah! Chief Congratulations!" She said with joy.

"Oh, thank you, I appreciate everything you've done for me and my wife" he said nicely but also nervously.

The healer noticed and tried to put him at ease.

"Of course but please come in it's alright. They're both healthy and ready for you"

Hiccup walked inside a little closer. He was too focused on Merida who he could finally see that he hadn't really heard what the healer had said.

"Um uh huh"

He could see them both from where he was standing. Merida was glowing, he had never seen her so radiant like that before as though she was the sun itself while she held a little buddle in her arms, he could see her smiling at her baby as wide as she could and her eyes were sparkling of joy and love and hiccup was mesmerized by it all, until the healer spoke and whispered with joy behind him.

"Go meet your son chief" she said with a big smile.

Hiccup turned to look at the healer in shock.

"M-my s-son?...It's a boy?!" He said breaking into a smile. She smiled and replied

"I, a beautiful healthy baby boy now go on !" And with those words hiccups attention was back at Merida and his son.

He finally got close to the bed and was able to see his little one. Merida looked up at him with her big smile and he returned it.

"I told ye it was a boy" Merida teased and hiccup just let out a small laugh.

The little one had his attention on his mother as she bounced him lightly until he saw his father and then in that moment as hiccup locked eyes on his little one, time stoped, and he had the warmest feeling and so much emotion running through him, he knew his little one was going to be the biggest thing in his life. He sat next to Merida carefully as he got closer and rested his head besides her admiring his child. He was the spitting image of hiccup but with a Scottish hint to him. He had hiccups brown chestnut hair that spiked up as though he had styled it, and he also had hiccups big eyes but they weren't green like his they were an ocean blue like Merida's, he had her nose too and her smile. But without a doubt he was The Dragon prince.

"Isn't he beautiful" Merida asked hiccup as she caressed her babies head.

"He really is" hiccup replied.

"He looks just like yeu." Merida said so joyful. Hiccup laughed

"This is datty" Merida whispered to her little one. She then turned to hiccup.

"Do ya want to hold your son?" Hiccup looked at her then looked at his son accepting her offer without a word.

Merida then carefully handed him over to Hiccup and Hiccup took him into his arms carefully. He was wrapped in a fur blanket that was made for him by one of the Vikings in the village as a gift to the future chief of Berk it was so soft and had their Viking patterns on the edges.

The little one was so tiny hiccup could hold him in one arm

"Heyy buddy...look at chu." He whispered to him as he touched his little hands with his finger.

His son smiled at the sight of him also. Merida looked at her boys and her heart exploded with happiness they were everything to her, they were the biggest love she never knew she wanted.

"This is Berk son, one day this will all be yours...and your going to be the greatest king of Dunbroch...a legend" Hiccup said as he traced his finger on his little ones tiny hand.

Then his son wrapped his little hand around hiccups finger and Hiccup let out a small laugh as his eyes started to water with joy. That's when hiccup knew he would do anything for him, he would protect him at all cost.

Merida rested her head on Hiccup shoulder. Also admiring her little one.

"What should we call ya huh?" Hiccup whispered to his son, Merida moved a small piece of his hair to the side then said "Arkyn"

Hiccup looked over in shock.

"It means 'Eternal King's Son'" she said not taking her gaze off her son.

"What made you pick that?" Hiccup asked smiling at her.

"Well I was looking into both Scottish and Norse names and that one stood out..."

"But we agreed to give him a Scottish name?" He said confused.

"That was until he looked exactly like yeu" she teased.

"He might have Scottish blood but he's a all Viking, yeu would do the same if he looked a lot like me" She said. Hiccup laughed

"your right"

Suddenly the front doors opened and Elenor came in with Fergus followed by Stoick and Valka.

"Oh lemme see my grad baby!" Said Elenor almost running towards her daughter and Hiccup.

"I where is that little one!" Valka also said.

Fergus looked at Stoick and said

"Look out Stoick our wives might start gettin' ideas"

Stoick looked over at Fergus with a worried look

"Don't even mention it"

"Ohhh he's gorgeous" Elenor said as hiccup passed him over to her. Fergus went right beside his wife and looked at his grandson as well

"look at the little lad he's got our Scottish eyes and nose !! I was certain he'd get the hair too ha" he teased at Merida she replied saying

"That would be a strong gene" then laughed

"I it's a tradition haha but it's still is because he got his dads hair just like me lass" Fergus said putting his hand on his daughters shoulder as he looked at her with admiration.

Merida touched her dads hand with her opposite hand and gave it a small kiss.

Valka was then holding Arkyn and Stoick was right beside her looking at him.

"he looks so much like you hiccup when you were this tiny" Valka said looking at her grandson and then at Hiccup.

"I he's a Viking for sure son" Stoick said as he admired his grandson. Hiccup just smiled back at them.

"So what did you call him?" Elenor asked.

"Arkyn" Merida replied.

Stoick and Valka both looked over at Merida.

"Dear thats a lovey name" Valka said with a big smile then turning to look at her grandson with tears in her eyes Stoick also gave Merida a smile

"I, a great name for a future Chief"

Elenor and Fergus turned to look at Hiccup confused.

"Means eternal King's son" hiccup said with a smile and both looked back over at Valka and Stoick smiling at their grandson and smiled.

Elenor went to Merida and gave her a kiss on her forehead

"You have a big heart lass, now get some rest we will let both of you enjoy your little one there will be enough time for us to enjoy him too"

"Thanks mum" Valka then passed Arkyn over to hiccup.

"I agree we'll let you too be" then both couples went on their way.
