"Merida, can you stop staring at him haha" Hiccup tease as he put more firewood into their chimney.

"I can't, he's just so precious" Merida said as she laid at the edge of her bed to be as close as she could to her baby's crib.

"I know but you need to get some rest." He said as he fiddled around with something in his hand, across the room.

Merida looked over at him "and what are yeu up to?"

Hiccup walked over to Arkyn's crib and laid the object right next to him. Arkyn just looked at his father wondering also what he was putting beside him.

"What is that hiccup?" Merida asked curiously.

Hiccup touched his sons head as he moved a little piece of his hair to the side with his thumb.

"I made it for him, when I found out you were expecting. It goes down generations. My father made me one when I was born and now I made one for Arkyn." Hiccup handed Merida a similar object like the one hiccup put in their sons crib. She sat up and received the object.

"A Crest?"

It was beautiful, a gold circle that had the 'Hairy Hooligan tribe' mark on it ingraved and Hiccups full name also ingraved around it in norse, then she looked over at her sons crest and it was completely different. Hiccup sat next to her on the bed. ,

"Every future chief of every tribe will get one when they are born, to wear one day when they become chief." Merida was confused

"but yeu-"

"I know I didn't wear it because my father wanted for me to stay true to myself."

Hiccup reached over to grab Arkyn's crest, Merida then finally saw what her sons crest had ingraved..

"The night fury" she said under her breath.

It was gorgeous. It was the same gold circle and the night fury was ingraved in the middle with Viking markings around it along with Arkyn's name in Norsearound it just like hiccups.

"I wanted to add Scotlands symbol on it but-"

"I lov it !"

"Y-you do?"

"Hiccup...Arkyn will always be in Scotland with me but...he will only get to see berk a few times a year I want him to have something to remind him that he is still a Viking even if he's not in berk." Hiccup smiled at Merida and tears flooded his eyes.

She gave him a small kiss and then put Arkyn's crest back in his crib. And laid her head on hiccups chest as he wrapped around his arm around her while they admired their little one.

"I love you Mer" hiccup whispered.

"I love you more Hiccup"

Meanwhile Gothel was outside of Merida and Hiccups home with two pairs of goons she brought with her just Incase she needed back up.

"Should we go in now?"

"Are you crazy ! King Fergus is right there !"

"Well we can distract him while we get that brat" both goons argued in a whisper until Gothel interfered.

"No...let the princess have her moment...for now. The time will come to scoop up that brat and when it does they won't see us coming" she said as she smiled mischievously.

3 days later

"Ready?" Hiccup asked Merida as she finished up dressing Arkyn in his Viking attire.

"Almost !"

Toothless came in excited to finally have Arkyn come outside with them it felt like ages buthe was patient because he understood that Merida had to rest before she could be outside and today was finally the day ! And the whole village would get to meet the future chief.

"Haha okay bud don't worry we're going, we're going ! Jeez I haven't seen you this happy since you got your own bed"

Merida finally finished wrapping Arkyn in a fur blanket.

"Okay we're ready! " Once toothless heard he ran over to Merida to take a look at his new little partner.

"Whoa" Merida almost lost her balance, Arkyn giggled as his mommas reaction

"haha what ya think tooth does he look like a tru Viking?" Merida asked him.

Toothless just smiled as he jumped up and down

"I guess that means yes" hiccup answered

"now come on let go introduce him to the village" Hiccup said handing out his hand for Merida to take.

The finally walked out of their home to see everyone outside cheering. As they made small comments:

"The young Chief is here!!"

"Oh look at him !"

"Another one of us too fight along side with!"

Arkyn just stare at them then looked at his parents then at the crowd again.

Hiccup raised a hand and the cheering died down and he finally spoke.

"As you all know we were expecting a little someone and now he's here."

"A new Viking to the Tribe." Merida then added

"A new warrior to Scotland..." then hiccup

"A future chief..." he said as he looked at his son, then Merida added

"A future King.." she said as she looked at her son aswell then at hiccup.

They both made eye contact as hiccup continued his speech then faced the crowd

"A leader, one greater than the other. One who will be the peace of both Vikings and Highlanders. A protector of both man and beast." Hiccup says as he looks down to touch toothless.

"A legend...Our son is going to change everything. everyone will remember his name...Arkyn.. horrendous haddock iii of Dunbroch !!" And the crowd went wild cheering and applauding.

Merida and Hiccup then started to walk down the stairs as everyone went to try to get a closer look and other would shake hiccups hand or pat him on the back.

Stoick then spoke to their people,

"Okay you will all get a chance to see this little one sooner or later but for now continue back to your normal routine." And everyone went on as he said.

Stoick then turned to Merida and Hiccup.

"So..." he had a sad look on his face.

"Yeev decided to raise him in Scotland..."

"Well I.." Merida began to answer but hiccup stopped her.

"It's just better he stays with his mother"

"I raised you on my own Hiccup, don't forget that"

"I know dad but this is different. He actually has his mother HERE he NEEDS her more." Hiccup replied getting more upset as he kept speaking, Stoick turned to looks a Merida who looked worried.

"And what about us huh? Do we just get him on holidays?!" Hiccup then put himself in the middle of them as he pushed Merida behind him. Merida just hugged her son closer.

"And what about THEM dad ! If it's the other way around they don't get to see him?!"

Suddenly Valka, Elinor and Fergus came.

"What the commotion?!" Valka asked as he went to Stoicks side.

"Stoick what's going on??" Fergus asked as he and Elenor went to Merida's side.

Stoick looked at Valka talking her hand then scowled and looked at Fergus and Elenor.

" Arkyn is going to be raised in Scotland" Valka turned to look at hiccup in shock

"wha-why? He should be raised here in berk, he needs to know our ways"

"He needs his mother, mom. I can't give him that. And you know that." Hiccup said softly.

Valka's eye began to water then looked away. Elenor then spoke up.

"Well teach him everything there is to know about his Viking culture, he will even be taught his Norse language...he will study hard and.." but then Valka interrupted her and her tone became serious and looked away.

"Books are nothing compared to the real thing. Merida, Hiccup, Your his parents you know what to do."

"Mom I-" Valka and Stoick walked away before he could even finish. Elenor began again,

"Hiccup I'm so sorry we can-"

"No...It was my idea" Hiccup replied.

"Wha?" Fergus and Elenor both looked at each other surprised then at Merida.

Merida smiled at them then they looked at hiccup as he continued

"My son is gonna have all he needs from his Viking side, his cloths, his crib, our stories, our language..." he got closer to Merida as he looked down at his sleeping baby and grabbed his crest that he gave him that's now hanging around his neck like a necklace and continues to say

"My DNA." Then hiccup looks up and Fergus and Elenor.

"Arkyn will always be a Viking I guarantee you it's in his blood but Scotland..." he gave a smile and chuckled looked at Merida the and then back at her parents.

"I want him to see how beautiful it is, the mountains, the green grass, the giant water falls. His Castle of Dunbroch." Hiccup looked at a different direction and started to tear up.

"He won't have that here with me...I want him to be free. On this island he won't have that but in Donbroch I know he will" Elenor then went to hug hiccup and gave out a small cry.

"Thank you Hiccup he will be the happiest child in the world trust me" she whispered then let go wipping both of their tears.

Hiccup smiled at her, he could see Fergus also wiping some tears away.

"I agree with ma queen thank yeu son, we're gonna give this wee fella all the love in the world"

"I and like I said to your mum earlier I mean it he will study hard" Merida looked at her mom

"not too hard though mum" she said mocking her mother then gave out a small laugh

"of course not"

Hiccup laughed "I'm sure he'll have a great time"
