The meeting hall was filled with voices yelling all at once you could barely hear anything anyone said it was all just blended to one another's sentence.

Until Hiccup spoke up.

"Listen !!" The room suddenly became quiet. Toothless raise his ears in surprise of how hiccup had become such a leader that even with a word he could silence a room.

"You're all not listening! Your future king is out there and we need to send more scouts a wider search !" Hiccup spoke with such confidence.

"But Chief we looked every where for miles and we found nothing !" A male voice spoke out. "Yeah we've searched multiple times too!" Another man chimes in as well.

"Is that how yeu talk to your chief. About your FUTURE chief?!" Stoick finally spoke up. Merida was also there along with Valka and the rest of the riders.

"I'm disappointed in all of yeu, If you went missing' do you think my son would give up?! Did he give up when those dragons came and took our food?! When our dragons were taken by poachers ?! " Everyone began to look away in shame, Stoick was right hiccup never turned his back on his people no matter the danger.

Hiccup looked at his father half thanking him and half wishing he hadn't said that.

Then he spoke up

"The thing is...we haven't searched everywhere, there's a place where we haven't been, Carona"

Everyone looked at each other confused.

But hiccup continued.

"It's a island past Scotland, it's a 5 day trip there...I only ask you all to help me look there as a final place. If you wish to back out of my search for my son I'll understand...but please just help me look there." Hiccup said to his army.

It hurt Merida to hear hiccup say those words. The only reason they were even making some progress covering more ground was because hiccup had help but if most of his army were to bail it would take so many more years and she just thought of how she would never see their son grow up. Maybe not even at all it broke her. The suddenly she felt someone reach for her hand. It was Astrid she was sitting in a seat next to her. She noticed Merida facial expression and knew that every time she came to these meetings it hurt her, but she had to be there she needed to know what the plan is instead of being cooped up in her room.

Merida gave Astrid a small smiles and squeezed her hand a little. Astrid smiled and gave her a small nod because she knew that that's all Merida needed.

They were then startled by a big slam on the table. Stoick had slammed his knife into the map laying on the table cutting into the paper where the Kingdom of Carona was located.

"So who's ready to find the future Chief, Eh?! I don't care what my son says yer no we're VIKINGS !! if you back out from a fight yer letting your chief down. So who's in?!"

And with those words everyone's had shot up. Hiccup was surprised. He never knew how his father did it.

"Thank you" Hiccup finally said "We set sail in two days pack what you need it's going to be a long trip."

Everyone gave hiccup a small nod and retreated to their homes to get ready.

Hiccup took in a deep breath as he looked down at the map he turned to Merida and gave her a small nod and said "let's go"

Merida turned to Astrid and gave her a smile as a thanks for being there for her then went to go to hiccups side. Hiccup grabbed her hand wrapping it in his while he spoke to his father.

"Thanks dad for the speech."

"It's nothing son, we're gonna find him" Stoick replied turning to Merida.

She gave him a soft smile. This made hiccup happy to see how everyone was supporting Merida the most. Of course they checked up on him but he needed everyone to be more there for Merida. He was gone almost everyday and the only time she got to see him was late afternoon when he finished his shift. He felt guilty but he also felt it was his duty to bring Arkyn back. It was a conflict between himself, but he showed Merida as much affection as he could when he was around. And he knew she needed it because once he got back she wouldn't leave his side and he didn't mind it because he missed her equally.

"We should all get some rest" Valka spoke up.

"Yer right" Merida replied.

"We should all head out now then, gets some rest everyone. That's an order" he said to his dragon riders.

"Aye aye chief !" Tuffnut replied

"It is past meatlugs bedtime!"

Hiccup laughed at there comments. Then turned to look at Merida giving her his arm. She gave him a playful smile and wrapped her hands around it pulling herself closer to him.

When they got home hiccup sat in a big comfy chair by the fire, looking into it. Merida had gone to change into her night gown but once she noticed hiccup wasn't coming up she got a small blacker and wrapped it around her shoulders. She saw hiccup in the chair and walked towards it.

"May I join yeu..?"

Hiccup jumped a little at the sound of her voice bring him out of thought, he laughed. And put a hand out inviting her to sit in his lap.

"Come here" he replied.

It brought a smile to her face. As she went to sit on his lap she wrapped one of her arms around his neck as he wrapped both of his on her waist then hiccup berried his face into her neck having a few of her curls tickle his face. Hiccup closed his eyes and took a deep breath and exhaled. Merida was his peace his safe place and every hug every kiss made him feel so at ease as if there was no care in the world. Merida rested her head on his, she kissed the top of his head before she spoke.

"Hiccup, yeu know I love yeu?"

Hiccup replied with a yes

"It's not your fault..." Merida whispered to him.

That sentence made him turn to look up to her knowing exactly what she meant and she looked back at him as she removed a piece of his hair from his eyes.

She continued,

"We didn't know he would be taken hiccup, yeu were already the best dad in the world and yeu still are" she said with a soft smile.

"I just..." hiccup tried to say something but Merida cut him off with a soft kiss.

As Hiccup felt her soft lips against his he wanted more of it, pulled her closer to him intensifying the kiss. He never realized how much he missed her touch. How much need needed it. It was like he had a craving for her and he finally gave in. And he knew Merida felt the same way because he could feel her melt into his arms she wrapped her other arm around his neck so both arms were holding on to him, a few minutes passed before they broke the kiss slowly,

"Yer the best husband too" Merida whispered to him with a smile on her face.

Hiccup gave her a small smile with a chuckle.

"I'm sorry I haven't been around as much Mer, Arkyn means everything to me but so do you" he said with a sadness in his tone.

Merida gave him a soft smile.

"I know. I miss yeu" She replied.

"I miss you too, I want to be here with you everyday but..." hiccup felt Merida cup his face with her hand which made him look up at her

Then she got up and put her hand out for hiccup to take it. And he did, while also getting up. Hiccup knew what Merida meant so he put out the fire without ever letting go of merida's hand then they went up stairs to head to bed.

Sorry this is short guys ! Next chapter is going to be a little longer because it's now getting closer to the action scenes so I didn't want to add it to this and make it suuuuuper long.
