Chapter 3: That Was The Schnees Nees
The morning commute of Vale moving quickly through the streets. Civilians getting to their jobs, kids going to school, etc. That was, until everyone stopped moving to look up at the sky and see something.
"Look! It's that Spider-Guy!" someone shouted, causing heads to turn
Spider-Man swung across the city heading west, towards the upper-class district of Vale. He had gotten word of a White Fang attack on a corporation known as the Schnee Dust Company, which had been in bad blood with the radical group.
After stopping several smaller WF raids last night, Peter did some research on Remnant as a whole. Turns out, the world is much more dangerous than he thought it was. Civilization was always tethering on the edge of a cliff due to creatures known as Grimm. These monsters could sense the negative emotion in people, and if there was a lot, then that was bad for human life.
Remnant also had four separate governed entities known as kingdoms. These were Vale, Vacuo, Mistral, and Atlas. Then there was Menagerie, which was a subcontinent just south of Mistral. It was dominated by Faunus, who used it as a 'safehaven' of sorts from the kingdoms. It wasn't recognized as a kingdom because...well...you know.
Spidey also got additional help from Madame Web, she told him how life defends itself from Grimm: the huntsmen. Huntsmen were warriors with special abilities known as semblances. Each semblance differed for a user, meaning that they could perform well in some situations, while others could not. Everyone in Remnant also had aura, which according to MW and various research Spidey did, was 'the manifestation of one's soul', a personal shield that protected people. It could heal and enhance one's prowess, including their semblance. Lastly, there was dust. Which was the most important natural resource on the planet. Not only did it give them the ability to create flying airships or other unique wonders, but also give life an advantage over the Grimm. In fact, the SDC was the largest Dust exporter and manufacturer in the world.
Spidey arrived at the SDC's facility in Vale, landing on a nearby building overlooking the entire facility.
"The Schnee Dust Company." Spidey muttered, "The largest harvester and refiner of dust in this world. Seems like a high priority target for the White Fang. But I don't understand why a business facility is in the middle of the upper-class district in Vale?"
"You can thank the company head for that Peter." MW said to him, "It was his idea."
"Hmm, interesting." Spidey muttered, "F.R.I.D.A.Y. I need eyes and ears."
"Hacking into the security cameras." F.R.I.D.A.Y. announced, "Hmm, It appears that we are too late. The White Fang have already locked down the facility."
"That's nothing we can't handle." Spidey said to her, "Can you locate a way inside."
"There's an air vent that leads inside." F.R.I.D.A.Y. replied
Spidey swung over to the facility and found the air vent. He pulled it off before climbing inside.
"Geez, kinda cramped." Spidey jokingly said
"It's a ventilation shaft." said MW, "Of course it is."
"I was joking." Spidey replied, "Geez…"
As Spidey continued crawling through the shaft, a hatch he was currently on top broke off taking him with it.
"Ow." Spidey muttered, as he got up. Spidey now realized that he was inside the building. Standing in front of him were two figures with black and white uniforms with a red wolf symbol on their backs, white masks covered their faces and they both held rifles.
"You must be the employees." Spidey said to them, "Can you show me where the bathroom is?"
"Freeze!" one of them shouted as they raised their weapons, but Spidey shot a web line out and pulled the gun away from him and it managed to hit his companion in the head, knocking both of them out.
"I don't think I'll freeze in here." Spidey muttered, "It's rather warm in here."
The wall crawler stuck to the ceiling of the hallway as he made his way deeper into the facility. He could hear the sound of talking and threats coming very close by.
"Stark and Mr. Osborn would kill to see this place." Spidey muttered, "Seems a bit clean...and lots of blue and white."
"Those are the colors of the Schnee Dust Company." F.R.I.D.A.Y. replied, "It runs within their family."
"Color seems to be very important on Remnant." Spidey muttered, "How close are we to the hostages?"
"They are being held in the main lobby of the building." F.R.I.D.A.Y. replied
"I'm on it."
Spidey crawled on the ceiling of the corridor before making his way into the lobby of the facility. The room itself was rather large with a fountain in the middle. Balconies wrapped around the edges, as Spidey was on the second floor. They were several hostages, mostly business officials all sitting around the fountain with WF sons watching them with weapons at the ready. Two goons to be exact, were holding a male hostage and dunking him into the fountain.
"How does that feel human?" one of them laughed before pulling him out and pushing the hostage to the ground.
"Damn...Faunus…" the hostage muttered as he tried getting on his feet. But before he could do anything else, the White Fang goon grabbed him.
"What did you say human?" the goon snarled at him
"Don't bother."
The goon and his peers all turned to see a young male Faunus. He wore a black uniform with a rose printed on the back, and a sword at his hip. He had fair skin and red spikey hair with two bull horns.
"Adam." the goon said to him, "You've arrived. Where's Blake?"
Adam sneered at the mention of that name before responding.
"She's not coming." he replied
The goon looked at him, "But she went to stop that SDC train with you. Don't tell me she-"
"No." said Adam, "She did not. Bring me one of the humans."
The goon did just that, and grabbed a scientist from the group of hostages. He set him down right in front of Adam.
Adam knelt down and stared at the hostage, "You see all of this? This is your doing. The Schnee Dust Company has been ruining the lives of many Faunus for generations. But now, we will have our revenge."
Adam stood up, grabbing the hostage by the collar, "The heiress to the SDC is supposed to be here...Where is she?"
"S-she's gone." the hostage stuttered, "Weiss Schnee left a while ago!"
"You're lying!" Adam shouted
"I'm not! I swear to you!"
Adam growled, "You're useless!"
Adam took out Wilt, one part of his weapon, and was about to kill the hostage. Just as this was happening, Spidey felt a familiar feeling overcome him.
"Spidey sense…" he muttered
As Adam was about to perform the final blow, a black ribbon wrapped around Wilt and pulled the weapon out of Adam's grip.
"Wha-?" he muttered, as he turned around
"Huh?" Spidey also uttered under his breath as he noticed someone new enter the fray. It was a girl with fair black hair with a comically large bow on top, and fair skin. She wore a black, buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath this is a white, sleeveless, high necked, crop undershirt and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg. She also had black low-heeled boots and full stockings with a color gradation of black to purple at her ankles. On her left arm was a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep, and black ribbons are wrapped around both forearms. A small, loose, black scarf was wrapped around her neck, and a gray magnetic backpack was strapped to her back, hidden by her hair. Lastly, was a red and white mask similar to all the other WF members.
Adam sneered at her, "You…GET HER!"
"But Adam…" one of the goons said to him, "Its-"
"JUST DO IT!"
The goons began to open fire on the girl, who quickly dodged every shot before throwing the ribbon end of her weapon at one of the goons, and pulled him toward her. She immediately knocked him out before proceeding to disarm the rest of them.
Adam then decided to take matters into his own hands and take her out himself.
"You'll pay for what you did to me, Blake." Adam growled at her
"I won't let you do this Adam." Blake retorted, "Hurting innocent lives."
"Innocent lives?" Adam sneered, "The Schnee Dust Company is far from innocent! They force our people to work in the dust mines! But their poster family is the worst! Those damn Schnees believe they deserve everything in the world! But it's us faunus who truly do!"
Adam was about to attack Blake with Blush, until he felt something grab onto the last piece of his weapon, and pulled it out of his hand. As he turned around, he was kicked in the head by Spidey, as the superhero swung from his hiding place. Adam was ultimately sent flying into a nearby wall, leaving a dent as he fell to the ground.
"Man, are you full of it or not?" Spidey quipped
Adam growled at his quip as he got back on his feet, "Are you with her?"
Spidey turned to look at Blake, but as he did so so, he felt something go off. It wasn't his spidey-sense, it felt almost like a new feeling, "Her? I don't even know who she is, Red Bull. I just knew you were attacking innocent lives."
Adam sighed in frustration, "Damn, Spider-Faunus...why side with them? You could be with your own kind."
"Buddy...I'm not even a-"
Suddenly, Spidey felt his spider-sense go off.
"Spidey-sense…" he muttered, until he noticed a large glyph-like object heading their direction. He quickly grabbed Blake, and pulled her out of the way, while Adam managed to dodge it himself. Spidey and Blake hid behind one of the room's support pillars, while Adam the same but behind another.
"What now Peter?" Spidey groaned quietly as he peaked behind the pillar, he noticed a girl in white with a rapier sword in her hand walking towards them. Once again, Spidey felt the same odd feeling he had when he saw Blake.
'Are hormones catching up to me?" he thought to himself
"Get out you faunus vagabonds!" she shouted, her voice was annoying high-pitched
Spidey then looked back in Blake's direction, only to discover that she was gone, as was Adam. Knowing that the hostages were going to be safe, and not wanting to deal with the authorities or whoever this girl was, he fled as well.
It was about evening as Spidey swung across Vale, it had been several hours since the events at the SDC facility. Now, Spidey simply wanted answers from MW.
"It was...some feeling...like when you know something that never before…" Spidey explained as he swung across the city, "You know what I'm talking about?"
"I do Peter." MW replied, "Those two girl will be important later down the road during your time here on Remnant."
"Like...a team?" Spidey questioned
"I don't know." MW answered, "The future is very blurry as of now. But you might want to focus on the blade that is about to cut your webline right now."
"Yeah…" Spidey muttered, "Wait what?"
Sure enough, Spidey felt gravity take control of him as some blade managed to cut his webline. Luckily, Spidey did manage to break his fall, but did land face first onto a nearby building.
"Thanks for the heads-up…" Spidey groaned out loud as he rolled onto his back
"Who are you talking to?"
Spidey looked up and noticed Blake standing nearby, weapon in hand. She no longer wore her mask, so her amber eyes and purple eyeshadow were visible.
"Oh hey…" Spidey muttered as he got on his feet, "Blake is it? What brings you here? Because I'm kinda busy."
But Blake had a different answer, "Chase me."
Blake then ran off before jumping onto another rooftop.
"Well, not my weirdest moment with a pretty girl." Spidey muttered
"Are you going to chase her?" Mw asked him
"Of course I am."
Blake lept from rooftop to rooftop as fast as she could to get away from her pursuer. She glanced back to see that Spider-Man was right on her tail. Though he was very confused about this ordeal.
"I don't have time to play kid." Spidey said to her, as he followed her
"We're around the same age. Why are you calling me a kid?" Blake questioned
"Because I'm mature enough NOT to disturb a man while he's swinging across the city!" Spidey quipped
Eventually, Spidey managed to catch up to Blake, grabbing her as the two landed on a rooftop.
"Gotch!" Spidey shouted, only to see Blake disappear. The superhero was then hit in the side by the real Blake. Spidey then fired two web lines at Blake's feet before pulling her to the ground, which she retaliated by morphing her weapon into a gun and firing several rounds at Spider-Man. But he simply pulled the weapon out of her hands with another web line.
"Did your weapon just turn into a gun?" Spidey questioned, "Sure its cool and all, aren't you a little too young to use one?"
Blake groaned in frustration and defeat, which caused her bow to twitch. A thing that Spidey took notice of.
"Not bad…" she huffed, "You're stronger than most faunus I know of."
"Why do people keep thinking I'm a faunus?" Spidey groaned, "I am not even part of, or will ever be part of the White Fang."
"So you're a human...with a spider-based semblance?" Blake guessed
"I'm more of a 'metahuman'." Spidey explained, "My DNA was altered by a radioactive spider. It gave me my abilities...except for the webs, I made those myself."
"Hmm, well that's new." Blake replied, "And your name's Peter?"
"Wha-?" Spidey stuttered, "I- uh- well- what makes you say that?"
"You said 'Peter' earlier when we were behind that pillar at the SDC facility." Blake explained
The memory then flashed through Peter's mind. Realizing that he did say it, but he didn't think it was out loud.
"Yeah, I guess I did." Peter sighed before taking off his mask
Blake expected to see a normal teenage boy under the red, web-lined mask. Instead, she got the face of a young man who seemed to be depressed yet slightly happy. Peter had fair skin, messy dishevelled blonde hair, and greyish-blue eyes.
"I'm Peter." he said, "Peter Parker, and I'm the Amazing Spider-Man."
Blake was still in a daze at Peter's physical face, "Sorry! I was-"
"Nah, it's fine." he cut her off, "I need to clean myself up big time."
"So what brings you to Vale?" Blake asked him, "You've shown up only a day ago."
"I was ent here." Peter replied, this was half true, "I need to fight crime in the city in order to get home."
"Are you being forced?" Blake questioned
Peter shrugged, "Nope, not really. You could say that I'm trying to find...purpose I guess."
"I see…" Blake muttered, "Well, I should get going. I won't tell anyone what you look like, I promise."
"That alright." Peter replied, "But something tells me we see each other real soon."
Blake nodded as she went to the edge of the roof, "Yeah...me too."
As she was about to jump, Peter stopped her, "One more thing! Do you know anything about men in black and red tuxedos?"
Blake looked away briefly before answering, "Junior Xiaong is his name. He has henchmen who wear black and red tuxedos."
Blake then jumped off the rooftop and disappeared, leaving Peter standing there.
"Well…" Peter sighed, "That was...fun I suppose."
"You seem worried Pete." MW said to him
"I get having allies to help me fight whatever is coming." Peter explained, "But...something tells me that Blake and whoever that white-haired girl was at the facility are somewhat similar to me. I fear this will be more of a burden than a blessing."
"We will just have to wait and see." MW replied as Peter put his mask back on and jumped off the roof, swinging across the city.
"I'm Peter, Peter Parker, and I'm the Amazing Spider-Man- Amazing Spider-Peter Parker- Amazing Spider-Man…"
A man with messy silver hair and spectacles gazed at a video from the rooftop Pter and BLake stood on.
"Peter Parker...Spider-Man…" he muttered
