Chapter 6: Forging A Team

"PETER!"

"GWEN!"

"4 years...4 years Fury. That is how long I've been Spider-Man. I've got little left in my life, and no purpose."

"PETER!"

"Gah!"

Peter shot up out of bed, sweat drenched his face. He looked at his surroundings and gazed at the familiar sight of Beacon's ballroom. He wasn't in the Helicarrier, crashed in the East River, nothing. Groaning, he got up and went to the bathroom. During this, he noticed a boy and girl have an odd conversation that seemed to be in the control of the girl. The boy just did his daily routines, while the girl just babbled into his ear.

"We've been friends for soooooooo long! What are the odds we'd still be together? Well, not 'together-together…' Not that I'm not saying that you're not handsome; you are handsome, but that'd just be weird, right?"

'Jesus.' Peter chuckled in his head, 'This girl can make Johnny and Ben go run for their money.'

"What was I thinking? But still, I hope we end up on the same team together! Oohhhh! We should come up with some sort of plan, to make sure we end up on the same team together! What if we bribe the headmaster? No, that won't work. He has the school." she continued, as they entered the locker room, "I know! We'll have some sort of signal! Like a distress signal! A secret signal so we can find each other in the forest! Can you imitate a sloth?"

"Nora?" the boy finally said to her

"Yes Ren?" Nora replied

"I don't think sloths make a lot of noise." he explained

"That's why it's perfect!" Nora insisted, "No one will suspect we're working together!"

"Come on Nora, let's go." Ren said, as he put his two weapons away and walked out with Nora in tow.

"Not 'together-together'..." Nora giggled as she followed him

Peter, having heard the conversation, walked deeper into the locker room, soon being joined by Ruby and Yang.

"Locker 616 huh?" Peter muttered, as she looked up the locker number he was assigned, "Seems fitting…"

"Wonder what those two are so worked up about?" Ruby asked about Ren and Nora

"Who knows." said Peter, "All I heard was talk sloths and…'together-together'."

"You two seem a lot chippier this morning." Yang said to the two of them, "Had any dreams Peter? Any about me?"

"Fortunately, no." Peter quipped, "I just wish they gave beds to sleep on and not the cold hard floor."

"Well, no more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking." Ruby added while she stroked her weapon

"Well, remember, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation." Yang said to her, "If you wanna grow up, you're gonna have to meet new people and learn to work together."

Ruby groaned at her sister's comments, "You sound like Dad!" she exclaimed as she shoved her weapon into a locker, "Okay, first of all: What does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly: I don't need people to help me grow up! I drink milk!"

"Really?" Peter chuckled, "That's your school of thought for growing up? Because I'd say its spot on."

"But what about when we form teams?" Yang asked her

Ruby stuttered nervously, "Um, I don't know, I... I'll just be on your team or something…"

"Easy for you to say." said Peter, "The last thing I personally want is to be on a team."

"Well that's odd." Yang muttered, "'Cause once you enroll at Beacon you get put into a team. Then Ozpin picks their leader. What happens if you become a leader?"

"That is also something that doesn't happen either." Peter added, "Thank you for reminding me Yang."

"You're welcome." Yang jokingly answered, while bowing dramatically, "Maybe you should try being on someone else's team?"

"My dear sister Yang, are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?" Ruby questioned her

"What? No!" Yang stuttered, "Of course I do! I just thought... I don't know, maybe it would help you... break out of your shell!"

"What the-?! I don't need to 'break out of my shell'! That's absolutely-"

"Ridiculous!" Jaune interrupted as he walked through the locker room, "There's no way I put my gear in locker 636 yesterday! I would've remembered having to count that high! Why does this have to happen today?"

"Locker 636?" Peter said to him, "Don't worry, my locker is just 20 stalls behind yours. I'll help you find it."

Soon enough, the two managed to find Jaune's locker. As Jaune was going through his things, Peter noticed Weiss nearby. She appeared to be talking to some girl with bright red hair. Peter then thought of MJ, but quickly suppressed the memory. While trying to not make himself noticed, he turned an ear towards the conservation.

"So, Pyrrha, have you given any thought to whose team you'd like to be on?" Weiss asked her, "I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual such as yourself!"

'Weiss...being nice?' Peter quipped in his head, 'That's new.'

"Hmm... I'm not quite sure." Pyrrha replied, "I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may."

'She seems a bit annoyed, almost unhappy on having to talk to Weiss.' Peter thought, 'And given what Weiss said before, she's bound to be popular.'

Weiss then continued, "Well... I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together."

"Well, that sounds grand." Pyrrha replied a bit half-heartedly

"Great!" Weiss shouted, she then adopted a scheming pose and a maniac smile on her face. But Pyrrha didn't seem to notice.

'This will be perfect! The smartest girl in class combined with the strongest girl in class!' Weiss thought, 'Together we will be unstoppable! I can see it now! We'll be popular! We'll be celebrities! We'll get perfect grades! Nothing can come between us now!'

'I see what she's doing!' Peter muttered in his head, 'She is trying to get herself acquainted with this Pyrrha in order to boost her own popularity! What a brat! Granted, I tried that before I became Spider-Man, but still.'

Peter mentally shook his head in disappointment...until he noticed Jaune approached Weiss.

'Oh, great.' he groaned

"You know what else is great?" Jaune said to her, "Me. Jaune Arc. Nice to meet you."

"You again!?" Weiss groaned

"Aanndd that's our ticket to leave." Peter announced as he stood in between the two, "Come on, Jaune. She's got nothing better to do."

Weiss glared at him while Pyrrha took an interest in both him and Jaune, "Get out of here Parker!"

"Huh, I don't remember ever telling you my name?" Peter questioned

"I can read you like and OPEN book, Parker." she exclaimed, "Now PARK it somewhere else!"

Suddenly, Pyrrha stepped in making her presence known to them, "Nice to meet you Jaune, you too Parker."

"Well actually, my first name's Peter." Peter replied, "And same to you...Pyrrha is it?"

"Yep."

Jaune however completely ignored her and went back to Weiss. However Pyrrha seemed happy that Jaune ignored her, an act that Peter took notice of.

"Yeah, yeah." he said as he went back to Weiss, "So, Weiss, couldn't help but overhear your fondness of me the other day."

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" she sighed in annoyance

"I don't know." Peter muttered, "I'd tell him to stop, but it seems you're getting a taste of your own medicine. So Jaune please keep going."

"Grrr…" Weiss growled

"Don't worry! No need to be embarrassed!" Jaune continued, "So, been hearing rumors about teams! I was thinking you and me would make a good one! What do you say?"

Pyrrha then intervened, "Actually, I think the teams are comprised of four students each, so-"

"You don't say." Jaune interrupted her as he approached her, "Well, hot stuff, play your cards right and maybe you could join up with the winning team."

"Jaune, as much as I want to congratulate you on lasting this long." Peter said to him, "You really need to find proper pick up lines."

"Jaune, is it?" Weiss asked, as he separated him from Pyrrha, "Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"

"Not in the slightest, snow angel."

"What about you, Parker?" she asked the hidden superhero

"She reminds me of an old friend of mine." Peter answered, "What's your point, ice queen?"

"This is Pyrrha." she said

"Hello again." Pyrrha announced

"Pyrrha graduated top of her class at Sanctum." Weiss explained

"Never heard of it." Jaune replied

"Same here." Peter added

Weiss scoffed at their response, "She's won the Mistral Region Tournaments four years in a row! A new record!"

"Impressive!" Peter replied, "Congrats!"

"Thank you." Pyrrha thanked him

"The what?" Jaune muttered

Weiss finally had it and began to wave her arms in the air, "She's on the front of every Pumpkin Pete's Marshmallow Flakes box!"

This caused Jaune to gasp, "That's you?! But they only do that for star athletes and cartoon characters!"

"Yeah, it was pretty cool." Pyrrha chuckled, "Sadly, the cereal isn't very good for you."

"So, after hearing all of this, do you really think you're in a position to ask her to be on your team?" Weiss asked them

Jaune looked down, "I guess not...sorry."

"Actually, Jaune, I think you'd make a great leader!" Pyrrha said to him, which made him happy

"D'oh, stop it!" he muttered

"Seriously, please stop it." Weiss added, not happy that Jaune of all people was actually gaining the attention of Pyrrha Nikos, "This kind of behavior should not be encouraged!"

She then looked at Peter and smirked, "What about you, Parker? Do you think you have what it takes to be on a team with Pyrrha?"

Peter hummed before looking at her and smiling, "I think I do."

This caught Weiss off guard, "Wha- excuse me?"

"I said I believe I do." Peter replied, "If you can, then so can I. Afterall, you're the one who's sweetalking her, and trying to seem nice. But all you want to do is use her as a tool to boost your own popularity."

Weiss glared at Peter, but sighed heavily before stomping off. Knowing that Peter was, unfortunately right. Once she left, Peter looked back at Pyrrha.

"Sorry about that." Peter said to her

"Don't be." Pyrrha replied, "I knew what she was doing right from the gecko."

Suddenly, Glynda's voice came through the loudspeakers, "Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately."

All of the first-year students arrived at Beacon Cliff as soon as Glynda's voice was heard. Each of them stood on a metal plate on the ground.

Peter was now wearing a suit that was surprisingly gifted to him by Ozpin. It consisted of a skin-tight light gray shirt, a light-weight black trench coat, gray pants, combat boots, and fingerless gloves. He also had a ski mask that covered his entire head and mouth, and holes were cut out so he can see. A pin was also attached to the coat's collars, that bore the resemblance of a spider.

'Great Oz.' Peter thought, 'Do you want everyone to know I'm Spider-Man...I feel like Spider-Noir right now.'

"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Ozpin announced to everyone before Glynda cut in.

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of 'teams'." she explained, "Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today."

"What? Ohh…." Ruby groaned

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon." Ozpin continued, "So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

"Wwhhaatt?" Ruby sighed

Ozpin then continued, "After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die. You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

"Yeah, I got a few." Peter spoke up, "There's an odd number of us, so I reckon one of us won't be so lucky in the end."

"Keen eye, Mr. Parker." Ozpin said to him, "One of you will not end up with a partner. Though I recommend that you all try not to do that. Are there any other questions?"

This time Jaune spoke up, "Yeah, um, sir?"

"Good! Now take your positions." Ozpin announced, unaware of Jaune speaking to him

"Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question. Jaune repeated, not noticing Weiss get suddenly launched in the air, "So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?"

"No. You will be falling." Ozpin replied, as more student were launched into the air

"Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?" Jaune questioned, still unaware

"No. You will be using your own 'landing strategy'." Ozpin replied, as both Ren and Nora were launched

"Uh-huh... Yeah." Jaune muttered, "So what exactly is our landing strate-"

Jaune was suddenly thrown in the air by the metal plate he was standing on. This left Peter as the last one.

"You know, you could've told everyone you were going to do that." Peter muttered before he too was sent flying in the air.

Just above the Emerald Forest, a lone black bird flew gracefully...until Ruby came crashing into it.

"BIRDIE NO!" she cried as she continued flying into the forest. She fired off a few rounds from Crescent Rose to slow her down, then turned the weapon into its scythe form to catch the branch of a tree in her blade and fall downward at a slower pace.

As for Weiss, she formed some odd glyphs under her feet with her rapier that slowed her down significantly before landing in the forest.

Meanwhile, Ren flew through the air, with Nora flying pat him at a faster speed right past him. He then drew two autopistols with sickle blades at the bottom and used them to grab onto a tree as he slid to the ground. He then began to dust off his clothes as he looked up to see…

"Woo-hoo! Yeah! Alley-oop!" Yang shouted as she soared right over the treetops, using her gauntlets and its fiery force to push her through the air further and further north, spinning and laughing with each blast, even when she crashed through the leaves of a tree and leapt off two trunks to tumble to the ground.

"Nailed it!" she said

As for Pyrrha, using her weapon in sword form and armed with a shield, crashed through several trees and rolls on a branch, immediately shifting her blade into a rifle and looking through the scope. She noticed Jaune flying through the air, seemingly helpless, she then coolly transformed her weapon again to its spear form, took a moment to evaluate her throw, and rockets the javelin deep into the forest until.

THUNK!

"Thank you…" Jaune echoed in the distance, indicating that he was alright

"I'm sorry!" Pyrrha shouted back

Meanwhile, Peter was now on the ground, watching the whole thing from afar.

"Another happy landing." he muttered as he watched. The hidden vigilante then ran deeper into the forest, "Alright, now I just got to get to those ruins, without getting a partner. Since there's an odd number of us, I have to keep to the shadows."

Peter then took out a pair of sunglasses and them on over his mask, "F.R.I.D.A.Y. are you there?"

"Yes boss." the AI replied

"Can you do a scan of the Emerald Forest?" he asked, "We have Grimm to deal with, and other huntsmen that might not have a partner yet."

F.R.I.D.A.Y. then spoke up again, "Boss, I've detected multiple cameras in the Emerald Forest. They appear to be monitoring each student, including-"

"Me." Peter finished, "I guess Oz wants to make sure none of us are hurt. Maybe we can use these cameras to our advantage. F.R.I.D.A.Y. can you hack into them?"

"Yes boss." she replied

Peter then revealed the watch he got when fighting Octavius on the Tri-Carrier, he managed to get it working again, save for the inter-dimensional travel part. He also had it connect with the rest of his tech. A holographic screen appeared on his wrist, which displayed areas all over the Emerald Forest.

"Alright, let's move." Peter said before he ran deeper into the forest, checking the cameras around the forest for any sign of students who were yet-to-find a partner...that is until she realized Weiss was heading in his direction.

'Oh crap, definitely the last person I want on a team.' Peter muttered in his head, as he jumped in the air and stood on the side of a treetop. He watched quietly as Weiss grunted, almost as if she was trying to get away from something. Peter wondered in his head at what was her problem. More importantly, what made everything her problem. Then he heard why.

"Wait! Where are you going?! We're supposed to be teammates!"

Peter watched as Ruby followed after Weiss in a hurry.

'I feel really bad for her.' Peter thought, 'Looks like Parker luck is something she shares with me.'

Peter began to secretly follow the two through the forest until he heard another sound. He noticed Jaune pinned to a nearby tree by Pyrrha's spear. Weiss then looked up at him before turning back towards Ruby. She grabbed her by the cloak and dragged her away.

"By no means does this make us friends." she exclaimed

"You came back!" Ruby shouted

Peter watched the two walk away. Until he noticed Pyrrha standing right underneath him, smiling at him.

"Don't look at me, you saw Jaune first, he's all yours." Peter said to her

"I know." Pyrrha replied, "I thought you'd find Ruby."

"Weiss happened." Peter retorted, "Head east, I saw the ruins of a temple near the academy."

"Thanks Peter." said Pyrrha, "What will you do?"

Peter shrugged, "Same thing I always do, mess things up."

Ozpin and Glynda watched via the secret cameras, all of the students' actions in the Emerald Forest.

"The last pair has been formed, sir." Glynda said to him, "Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. Poor boy... I can't possibly imagine those two getting along. Still, he's probably better off than Miss Nikos."

"Hmm…" Ozpin muttered

"I don't care what his transcripts say." Glynda continued, "That Jaune fellow is not ready for this level of combat."

"Mr. Arc will prove his worth." Ozpin replied

"And then there's Mr. Parker." Glynda added, "Say what you want about him. But the so-called 'Spider-Man' is very rebellious."

"What makes you say that?" Ozpin asked

"Because he just hacked our cameras, and is using them to see where students are." Glynda replied

Ozpin smiled, "He is quite intelligent. That IQ of 270 is something he wasn't joking about."

Glynda couldn't help but sight, "I guess we'll find out soon enough. At their current pace, they should reach the temple within just a few minutes. Speaking of which, what did you use as relics this year?"

Ozpin remained silent.

"Professor?"

Yang made her way out of the forest, with new partner, Blake. The two stood on a small cliff side, overlooking a clearing that held the ruins of a temple, with several pedestals within it.

"Think this is it?" Yang asked her new partner

Blake simply gave Yang an incredulous look and headed down the hill, her partner following. They walked across the clearing and observed the items on each pedestal, now shown to be familiar shapes.

"Chess pieces?" Blake muttered

"Some of them are missing." Yang added, "Looks like we weren't the first ones here."

"Well, I guess we should pick one." Blake replied

Yang walked up to a gold knight piece and picked it up, "How about a cute little pony?"

Blake simply rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but smirk as well, "Sure."

"That wasn't too hard." said Yang

"Well, it's not like this place was hard to find." Blake retorted, as the two shared a smile

Suddenly, the two heard the sound of someone screaming. Yang turned in the direction she heard it coming from.

"Some girl's in trouble! Blake, did you hear that?" Yang shouted

But Blake ignored her, and instead looked up at the sky. Both of them then heard someone shouting…

"Heads uuuuuuup!" Ruby shouted, as she fell towards the ground

Before Ruby could hit the ground, something red and blue smashed into her…

Several minutes earlier…

Peter walked through the forest while looking at the cameras. He was starting to make his way towards the temple ruins.

"Looks like everyone's got a partner now." he said to himself, "Which means I get lucky. For once Parker luck isn't getting to me."

'Trying to get out of working with a team.' MW said to him

Peter rolled his eyes, "Julia I already told you. A team isn't something I want right now. Especially for rookies like these people. I'm only gonna hold them back. Also I don't want to be responsible if they get hurt."

Suddenly, Peter heard someone screaming. He looked up at the sky and noticed Ruby falling from the sky, while Jaune was falling through the air. Both on a collision course with one another.

'You know what you have to do.' said MW

Peter sighed before he opened his shirt, revealing his Spider-Man suit.

Ruby fell through towards the ground at a fast pace. Quickly picking up momentum each second. As this was happening, she noticed something coming toward her. It appeared to be some man in a red and blue suit flying through the air, with someone else in their grasp. The figure grabbed her and she felt herself hit the ground, not as hard as she thought she would.

"Uhh...Jaune?" she muttered upon recognizing the other person the figured saved

"Ruby?" he muttered back, "Was that you?"

"No?" she replied, "It wasn't me, all I saw was something red and blue."

"RUBY!"

Ruby looked to see her sister and Blake run up to her.

"Are you ok?" Yang asked her

"I'm fine." Ruby replied

"Uh, I'm fine as well, just so you know." Jaune added

Suddenly, the group then heard the sound of bushes crashing were heard in the forest ahead of them, and an Ursa came out, claws swiping, just as a pink blast of energy hit it in the back and it crashed to the ground, depositing its rider.

"YEEE-HAWWW!" Nora shouted, before rolling off the creature, "Awww, it's broken."

Suddenly, Ren came out of the bushes as well, and he appeared to be exhausted.

"Nora! Please... Don't ever do that again." he muttered until he noticed that Nora was no longer in front of him. She was now at the temple ruins, picking up a chess piece."

"Oooohh...I'm queen of the castle! I'm queen of the castle!"

"NORA!" Ren shouted at her

"Coming Ren!" Nora shouted back

"Did that girl just ride an Ursa?" asked Blake

"I…"

Suddenly, Pyrrha came running out of the woods with a Deathstalker Grimm on her tail. She managed to dodge the creature's stinger and claws and kept running.

"Did she just run all the way here with a Deathstalker on her tail?"

Yang, having been interrupted more than once, finally had it. Her hair started to glow before erupting into fire, her eyes flashing red, "I can't take it anymore! Can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?!"

"Umm...Yang?" Ruby said to her while pointing up

Everyone noticed Weiss in the sky. She was still holding onto the talon of the Nevermore.

"How could you leave me!?" Weiss shouted at Ruby

"I said 'jump'!" Ruby replied

"She's gonna fall." Blake said to her

But Ruby brushed it off, "She'll be fine."

"She's falling." Ren added

Everyone watched as Weiss fell through the sky, seemingly hopeless until the same red and blue blur that saved both Ruby and Jaune saved her. Now instead of free falling, the heiress floated gracefully down to the ground, with a parachute attached to her back.

Ruby ran over to help her up, but Weiss resisted.

"Don't touch me!" she hissed, "What was that thing?"

"I don't know." Ruby shrugged, "Whatever it was, it saved me and Jaune."

Suddenly, Pyrrha managed to dodge the Deathstalker again, and landed in front of everyone.

"Great, the gangs all here!" Yang announced, "Now we can die together!"

"Not if I can help it!" said Ruby, as she took out her own weapon and charged at the Grimm, only to stop when something grabbed the Deathstalker by the stinger and threw it into the woods. That something turned out to be Peter.

"Ladies…" he said to the girl before looking at Jaune and Ren, "Guys...Ice Queen."

"Hey!" Weiss hissed

"Peter!" Yang said before walking over to him and putting her arm around him, "You're ok! Miss me?"

"Not in the slightest." Peter joking replied, as he took Yang's arm off of him

"And just where have you been, Parker?" Weiss questioned

Peter shrugged, "Running around trying to survive. Not falling from a Nevermore and getting saved by Spider-Man."

"Wait wait wait, Spider-Man." Ruby muttered, "Spidey saved us?"

"Yeah, I saw the whole thing." Peter continued, "He came out of nowhere, saved you and Jaune, then went back for Weiss, spun a web parachute on her before fleeing. I couldn't even say hi to the guy."

"Awesome!' Jaune shouted, "You guys have heard of Spider-Man, the vigilante who's been stopping criminals in Vale, right?"

Everyone nodded in response, while Weiss looked at her clothes in disgust, "Now I need to wash my clothes. Stupid Spidey-guy."

But no one paid attention to her as Peter continued, "Look guys, It's best that we get out of here."

"He's right." said Ruby, "Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the 's no point in fighting these things."

"Run and live, that's an idea I can get behind." Jaune muttered

With that said, both Ruby and Jaune ran over to the temple and each grabbed a chess piece. With Ruby grabbing the one identical to what Yang took, and Jaune grabbing the same one Nora took. As this was happening, the Deathstalker was coming back for some 'fun'.

"Time we left!" Ren announced

"Right." Ruby replied, "Let's go!"

"Wait!" Yang shouted, getting everyone's attention, "We're forgetting one thing."

"What?" Ruby questioned

Yang pointed at Peter, "Peter doesn't have a partner, what do we do about him?"

"An excellent question Yang." Peter quipped, "That I'd rather answer at BEACON than in the middle of a monster-infested forest. You guys get moving, I'll hold this thing off."

"No way!" Weiss hissed, "Sure, you're arrogant and annoying, but you won't stand a chance against a Deathstalker on your own!"

"And yet I managed to grab it by the stinger and throw it into the forest with ease." Peter retorted, "No get moving!"

Weiss wanted to argue even more, but was stopped by Ruby, "Come on, if he's got it, he's got it. We'll meet back up at the cliff."

"Got it." Peter replied, as the huntsmen fled into the forest. He then turned his attention back to the Deathstalker.

"Alright Mac Gargan." he quipped, "Time we finished this."

The Grimm roared at him before swinging its stinger at him. Peter managed to dodge it while doing a flip in the air. He then grabbed the creature's stinger once more, and threw it into the trees. As the Grimm was about to get up, Peter jumped into the air and buried his fist deep into its back, crushing the Deathstalker to death.

"Consider this over Mac." Peter quipped, "Alright time to see if the gang is good."

Peter ran through the forest until he headed out of the forest and into another abandoned series of structures that was located underneath Beacon Cliff as the Nevermore flew through the air. The gag was still fighting the creature.

Peter then witnessed Ruby and Weiss side-by-side. Using a glyph, Weiss launched Ruby into the air. The younger girl fired Crescent Rose at the creature until she caught the creature's neck in its blade and caused them both to fall to the cliff wall. Weiss raises her sword and creates a series of white circles up the wall, which Ruby dashes through by firing the entire way up. Ruby then climbed up the cliffside with the bird in her grasp until, both warrior and monster crying out, Ruby reaches the top of the cliff, circles up, fires one last shot, and rends the Nevermore's head from its shoulders in a shower of petals. She then landed on top of the cliff overlooking everyone.

"Not a bad kid." Peter muttered while putting his hands on his hips, "Not bad all of you. You may all be rookies, but you got the skills...another reason I shouldn't be here."

"Russel Thrush. Cardin Winchester. Dove Bronzewing. Sky Lark." Ozpin announced as the four students went on stage, "The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by...Cardin Winchester!"

The audience appalled as they left the stage, being replaced by Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren.

Ozpin then spoke, "Jaune Arc. Lie Ren. Pyrrha Nikos. Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR. Led by...Jaune Arc!"

This took Jaune by surprise, "Huh? L-Led by?"

"Congratulations young man." Ozpin said to him. Pyrrha then smiled at Jaune and gave him a friendly shoulder bump, which resulted in him falling to the ground. The four left the stage, being replaced by Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang.

"And finally: Blake Belladonna. Ruby Rose. Weiss Schnee. Yang Xiao Long." Ozpin announced, "The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by...Ruby Rose!"

Weiss looked to her right, surprised, where Ruby was obviously in shock as Yang went over to hug her sister.

"I'm so proud of you!" Yang said to her before they all left the stage.

Peter, no longer wearing his grey mask, smiled from the back of the audience, "Well, there goes that. Now's my chance to leave. I can't take this chance, not with rookies here. I'm only gonna make things worse."

Peter turned towards the door, but was stopped as he noticed Glynda standing in the door. Realizing that Ozpin sent her their to prevent him from leaving, he sighed heavily as he remained in the auditorium.

"It looks like things are shaping to be an...interesting year." Ozpin muttered
