Chapter 31.

Last edited on July 27th, 2015. Long overdue, cheers and enjoy.

Kevain took it seriously when he said he was going to watch Torian's six. It kind of surprised Torian every time. They had been assigned a really easy job and were both bored out of their minds. The mission itself was not difficult, break into a robotics factory and secure stolen plans for Sereca Industries. Covert, quiet and easy creds. Torian sighed as they watched over their exit route.

"Feel brain dead."

Kevain made a sound that resembled a famished rakghouls moan. Torian shoved him and they both laughed.

"But seriously, if this keeps up much longer, I'm liable to become a rakghoul."

Torian shook his head. "Let's snack."

Kevain lit up. "Best plan ever!"

They both took off their buckets but kept their comm links on and began rummaging through their packs. Kevain pulled out some veggies while Torian pulled out chocolate. Kevain looked at Torian's snack, then back at his and then back at Torian's again.

"Can we share yours?"

Torian laughed, Kevain was such a kid! "Yea."

Kevain sighed. "You're mom packs way better lunches than mine!"

Torian sighed as he was reminded of his childhood. It did not hurt which was new. He nudged Kevain.

"You ever miss 'em?"

"Humm?"

Kevain looked up as he stuffed his mouth full of one of Torian's chocolate bars. Torian smiled and ate his as well. He tried again.

"Ever miss your clan?"

Kevain sighed. "Yea, it sucks we're all separated, but at least I know they're alive."

Torian nodded and looked back at their exit.

And there she was, like a vision straight from his day dreams.

She had painted her kit an ultraviolet purple, but he'd know that strut anywhere. He blinked and rubbed his eyes fearing he was losing it and yet her figure continued to advance in the hall just below their bird's nest.

"You seeing this?"

Kevain looked up from his food at Torian's voice and his own eyes got big. "She's not one of ours, is she?"

Torian frowned. "Nope, that's the Champion."

Kevain choked on something and banged a fist against his chest, which was useless with a full chest plate. "You mean the Champion, right? Your Champion?"

Torian nodded as he swallowed the rest without chewing and pulled his bucket back on. Kevain did the same double time and activated his comm link.

"Cor, we got in-coming, dunno if she's friendly or not, but Torian sure is happy. Please, advise."

Torian punched Kevain's shoulder hard enough to send him on his ass. Kevain laughed and rubbed his arm. "Worth it."

Whistles from the other guys on the comm link grated on Torian's nerve. Corridan cleared his throat, oh he'd been laughing. Shabla Kevain!

"I'm going to hurt you on the sparring mat."

Kevain nearly died from asphyxiation as he continued to laugh and could not breathe. "Oh, still… Worth it."

Torian growled. "Corridan, orders?"

"Geez, Torian, I hope you're not so formal with her, go say hi!"

Torian didn't need to be told twice. "Roger." He activated his jet pack and flew down to her.

In hindsight, maybe that wasn't the best idea because her rocket came real close to taking him out mid-flight.

"Raidre! Don't shoot!"

She paused at the sound of his voice. He could imagine her frown in his mind. He landed and kept his hands up, palms facing her open and devoid of weapons. He felt giddy as she lowered her blasters incrementally.

"Torian?"

He was going to pee himself he was so excited. "Hi."

"Oh, come on!? Hi! You've been chewing off our ears about her and all you've got is hi?!"

Torian reminded himself to beat Kevain senseless before leaving. The younger Mandalorian flew down to join them. He landed next to Torian, arms crossed and just shaking his bucket slowly from side to side.

"You're hopeless."

"Gonna murder you."

"Really?"

Torian nodded. "She can have your helmet as a trophy."

Kevain sounded like he was grinning. "That's kind of better."

Raidre looked from one to the other as they bantered. "You're like a male version of Mako, aren't you?"

Torian chuckled. "Yea, he is."

Raidre laughed. "Wow, didn't think that was possible."

"Hey! Who's Mako?"

Raidre sounded like she was smiling, Torian felt light-headed. Their reunion was going so well.

"Mako's my favorite slicer, who're you?"

Kevain straightened and saluted her. "Kevain, but just call me Kev. I was Torian's babysitter for today."

Torian punched him on his arm hard enough to send him on his ass again. Kevain laughed again.

Raidre nodded. "Well, ain't he resilient? Babysitter, Torian?"

Torian shrugged. "Corridan thinks I'm reckless, so he assigns me a babysitter. Kevain's fun though."

Torian looked away from Kevain and back at her. Manda she looked so good. She nodded.

"Okay, you guys got some time?"

Kevain pulled himself up, Torian showed him back down. "Hey! Sort of, whacha need?"

Raidre shifted her weight from left foot to right foot. Torian knew those cues, she was about to tell them about something big.

"Got a small job from Iditha Industries. They want me to steal the targeting, sequencing and stealth systems off of a D35-Caimber droid. I've never seen one of those before, have you?"

Both Mandos shook their heads. "Never heard of it."

Kevain straightened up far enough from Torian so he couldn't push him down again. He dusted himself.

"That job of yours come with a map? We might not be able to go with you but we can give you a heads up."

Raidre nodded. "Sure. Tell me what you know about this area."

Torian took the holo she provided them and he looked at Kevain. This droid was located in the high risk area they had scouted out just before coming in.

"You're not going alone, Raidre."

Kevain whistled. "They pay you good for this job, Champion?"

Raidre nodded. "Lots of zeros, how bad?"

Kevain laughed from nerves- not from mirth. "It's a deathtrap in there. When we scouted it out we made it a no-man zone on our route. It's all experimental tech in there, all of it lethal. And if that doesn't get you, the security system will. Also lethal by the way. "

Torian heard the smirk in her voice and he didn't like it. She closed the holo. "It's security, Kev. Wouldn't be worth the creds if it wasn't lethal. Sounds like my kind of party."

Torian frowned. "Corridan, you reading this?"

"Every word, forget I ever called you reckless. I can spare two, but not for free."

Torian rolled his eyes. "Generous."

Corridan was unabashed. "Frag grenades and blaster cells don't pay for themselves."

Torian nodded. "We're coming."

Raidre froze. "What about your job?"

Kevain shook his head. "Corridan's got it covered. Let's just coordinate to make sure their out safely before we set off all the alarms."

They all nodded and Corridan chuckled through the comm link. "Thanks, appreciate that."
