Chapter 40.
Last edited on October 5th,2016. I really enjoyed these last two chapters… I love it when my stories surprise me!
Mako wandered the ship, tipsy and a little lost. She was looking at a spilled mug on the floor when she walked into something warm and hard.
"Ouf!"
"Hey."
Mako looked up and it was Corridan. She smiled. Eyes glazed from having drunk too much of stronger alcohol then she is used to.
"Oh, hey you."
Corridan smiled and took a step back to give her space. Mako swayed and Corridan reached to catch her before she fell. He grimaced as he put weight on his bad leg, but he caught her before she went down.
"I think you may have had a bit too much."
Mako laughed, eyes closed because her eyelids weighed too much. "No such thing as too much."
Corridan chuckled and picked her up.
"Hey! What're you doing?"
"Little girl had a big night. "
Mako glared as best she could. "Ass."
Corridan laughed. "Pff. Yea."
Mako laughed as her head fell back. "Netra'gal hits hard."
Corridan shrugged as he carried her with slow and measured steps. "Only if you're not used to it."
"Not used to it!" Mako's arms flew out as she exclaimed.
Corridan rolled his eyes and half smiled. "Yea. I know."
Corridan winced every time he put weight on his bad leg. But Mako's bones had been transformed into gelatin by the liquor. He inched his way down the hallway, past the infirmary where he noticed that Torian had completely ignored everyone and was sleeping with Raidre in her stretcher. He continued to inch.
"Speaking of asses. You have a fine one!"
Mako reached and took a hand full. Corridan got as red as the star in the Nexus 847 system and froze. She squeezed again. Corridan's neck felt stiff as beskar as he turned to her. It took a long time for him to finally look at her. Mako took a moment to notice they had stopped. She looked up at him, those amber eyes a little bloodshot and glassy with the haze of alcohol. She gave him a big smile, eyes crinkling at their edges.
"Guess you're not much for the whole wine and dine process?" he asked her.
Mako's smile faded as she thought about it. "Wait. That was an option? Can I wine and dine you? I kind of figured since you were leaving, I'd never see you again."
Corridan looked back at her hand that was still firmly grasping his left cheek. "And so you grabbed my butt."
Mako nodded and tightened her grip. Twice. "And so I grabbed your butt."
They stared at each other. Mako turned as red as Corridan was, and their mouths began to twitch as they stood off. Corridan held his breath while Mako began to snort as she continued to hold back. They both erupted in laughter and Corridan had to hang onto the nearest wall to keep himself upright and Mako safe in his arms.
Once they had calmed down.
"Naw, I'd like to wine and dine you, actually." He said as he caught his breath.
Mako's eyes widened, followed by a big smile. "Really?"
Corridan nodded.
Mako lunged at his neck and Corridan kept his back to the wall as she wrapped both her arms around him. Eyes wide and mouth slightly ajar, Corridan put one hand on her back.
"I'd like that a lot." She whispered in his ear.
He shivered at the heat of her breath and let a slow smile bloom on his face. "Let me know where your next job is, and I'll be there."
Mako nodded into Corridan's neck. "Okay."
He held her close and inhaled her scent. She didn't let go either.
